Guest Reviews
- Clement (9/5): -
Rien
- Rachel (4/5): Disappointing - Room clean, good aircon
Breakfast simple but well cooked.
Good location on the edge of the Old Town and looking out over the mangroves. I don’t recognise this place from the positive reviews! I knew it was an fishing place but it was extremely noisy at night due to a generator by the room and at least 14 (no joke, I counted them) cockerels living under the property and crowing from 4am. The family were not at all friendly and there is no restaurant.
- Marie-Flore (9/5): - Très gentil, très bon rapport qualité prix
- Stefania (8/5): -
- Guilhem (8/5): -
- Nick (9/5): Good value for money and near the old town - View and room Nothing but fridge in room would be nice
- Suzanne (8/5): - location good & nice room description not correct, wasn't spa & restaurant.
- Maria (9/5): - I liked the location a lot, and the people who own it :) So kind and helpful! Also they have two super cute dogs! The room was indeed facing the sea, but what I had not understood was that it is basically an extension of wetland? mangroves? Basically two centimetres of water with something like tall grass growing out of the seabed. I only spent a night there, but from the evening until the next morning, the water was never high.
Then, the room was so bright, there were huge windows with sea view as booked, but they were giving to the common veranda so I could not keep the curtains open. Also, when there are people on the veranda you hear everything.

Petit dejeuner peu mieux faire
L odeur de poisson
- Francois (1/5): 4 trop longues journées au pire endroit à Lanta old town...
- Andre (7/5): - Nice host, very clean room with hot water (in Thailand it’s not always the case).
Good for a short stay (1-2 nights) if you are on a budget The roosters are quite loud and will wake you up.
The breakfast was not included despite what it said on Booking

- Rachel (10/5): Authentic experience of Thai life - The experience of staying with a Thai fishing family. This was my second time. They don’t speak much English but it was easy to communicate using Google translate. The location over the mangroves is so peaceful.
The room was very clean and the aircon kept it cool. The breakfast was a sandwich from 7-11. Better options in the town. The surroundings are very simple and there is a lot of trash. I don’t mind this but some people might be shocked.
The aircon was a bit noisy, nothing that earplugs couldn’t deal with.
- enrico (8/5): - Guesthouse molto famigliare. In una posizione tranquilla e rilassante.
La camera era pulita e l AC funzionava bene.
Vista sul mare La colazione è sicuramente migliorabile.
Personale non sempre presente.
- Timothee (6/5): - The house has a few rooms for guests, but it feels like you're living with the fishermen. You will see them preparing freshly caught fish and seafood next to your room. Great views on the mangrove. Room quality does not match the somewhat high price. There were big gaps around the entrance door, and the bathroom door did not close shut. The bathroom has a hole in the wall for aeration, but no glass or way to close it... Together with the door gaps, that means bugs can just fly into the room and bite you at night. Very poor water pressure (sink was just a drip). Wifi signal was poor in my room.
- SUC (8/5): - Location and sea view Breakfast can be better
- ElementaryPenguin (9/5): - Friendly owners, nice view, chill location, aircon and hot showers. The roosters were a bit loud some mornings
- Merete (8/5): Vi hadde det fint. Hyggelige ansatte - Fine rom Manglet kjøleskap
- Vittoria (9/5): - Bellissimo svegliarsi sull acqua e vedere la marea ritirarsi e. Arrivare . Ci siamo fermati 8 giorni e siamo stati benissimo L a/c è troppo rumorosa. Di fronte c’è un po’ di immondizia e l’odore di pesce è. Un po’ forte a volte.
Einfaches Zimmer mit allem was man braucht.
- Mark (10/5): Enjoyable Stay - I enjoyed my stay here, the family are super friendly and it’s really interesting to see how they operate their fishing business, the rooms where you stay are towards the rear, they’re a good size, clean with good air con, the property is raised above the water and as the tide comes in at night, you can hear waves crashing which is relaxing. It’s literally a 5 minute stroll to the old town which is nice and quiet compared to the other side of the island, I also hired a moped through them for 300 baht a day, it was literally brand new with only 125k’s on the clock and a brand new helmet.
- Noémie (10/5): -
- Andrés (7/5): -
- Sean (9/5): Real Waterfront - Amazing when high tide came up fantastic balcony and view from the room. 5 minute walk to Old Town. Great value and we did not even get to try the food we were so busy Low tide not beautiful but just wait. Taxi scammers at port so just rent a scooter.
- vincent (8/5): -
- Christine (8/5): This was my 3rd time staying there, but I was a bit disappointed this time - The location The difficulty of locking my room from the inside and the lack of their usual good free included breakfast. Although the substitute of mango sticky rice was OK, we fellt a bit cheated.
- Eren (10/5): -
- Suzie (9/5): Excellent value for money in a great location with a superb view. - Location was great overlooking the mangroves with surprisingly few mosquitoes. 5 minute walk to main street. Breakfast was simple but adequate. No hot water in the shower but it didn't matter because it was so hot that a cold shower was refreshing. Yes, the roosters crow all the time but I didn't find it annoying.
- Christine (9/5): Great little place - Great little place. My second time staying there. Would be great to have more comfortable chairs on the terrace
- Christine (9/5): Great place. I stayed an extra 2 nights and will definitely be rebooking.. - The room, the excellent location, great showers and sweet staff.
- Péter (9/5): Superb - Everything was fine The roosters at dawn erre really loud. A little fridge would be handy
- Chagrin (8/5): Very good -
- Giulia (8/5): Very good -
- Ryan (7/5): Nice people.. but not as advertised.. no breakfast included -
- Emily (10/5): A great authentic place to stay in Old Lanta Town - Everything was great. The room had everything you need, overlooked the sea and was super clean. The house is side by side to the host family's one. They are fishermen and we felt like we were in a homestay more than in a guesthouse, which we enjoyed. The host is very nice and welcoming. Highly recommended Nothing.
- Mcccccwendy (10/5): We are two cyclists and they looked after us and our bicycles for three lovely nights. - Everything Nothing
- Thomas (10/5): Great and beautiful spot to relax and minutes to walk to the main town. - Right over the water a little up the road from the main market street. Great location and super quiet. The hosts are amazingly friendly and helpful. Nothing
- Pittaya (9/5): Superb -
- Jane (9/5): Superb -
- Jane (8/5): Lovely family, who are very welcoming 🥰 - Breakfast was served on the balcony each morning. It was in the mangroves, with amazing wildlife all around. The sea came in under balcony each day. The view is over the sea to the islands, scattered with local fishing boats. It was the perfect place to meet interesting people each morning. Nice fresh breakfast each day. Everything very clean.
- Craig (10/5): Exceptional - Simple but clean room with a breath-taking view across the water directly from the bed. Simple breakfast served to your balcony in the morning by the lovely owner.
- László (9/5): Good sleeps above the waves - You can see local fishermen's life and you can fishing from the restaurant at high tide... 🙂 You can feel the strong smell of the mangrove-swap at low tide.
- Katie (9/5): Superb -
- Caroline (5/5): Passable - Very nice family business. Simple, but clean apartment. The room has enough space, the bed is comfortable. Very helpful staff, you can also rent a scooter from them, they try their best to assist you. Lovely people! The hotel is located in old town next to the mangroves with strong tide. When the tide is low, you see all the trash and smell the dirty water. Showering water goes directly to the sea. Also the fishing activities in the street sometimes have a strong smell.
- Isobella (9/5): Superb - Super lovely stay here! Big spacious rooms that are clean. The family that run the place are super friendly, make sure you eat here and enjoy their fish! Was amazing! They also helped us sort out a last minute taxi when we weren’t getting picked up for our ferry out of Koh Lanta.
- Lynne (10/5): Charming and relaxing stay - The view from our room was fabulous and we had a really comfortable stay. The staff shared their fruit with us when we arrived and made us very welcome. The choice of places for dinner and breakfast is excellent and old town is very charming. All great
- Janet (8/5): Lovely people - I stayed in a room in Chomlay for 3 very nice days. The family is lovely. Hardworking people, cleaning fish. It felt like staying at their home, seeing what their daily life is like, but as a special guest at the same time. I liked it for sure, but I thought it was a restaurant as well. It is not, but: they prepared a great fish for me 😀.
- Polly (10/5): If you want to escape the west and look to the east of Koh Lanta, this is the place to be. - This is a truly special place to stay, run by a lovely family. Beds are comfortable, view is spectacular, walking distance to other restaurants and bars, breakfast is good. Nothing
- Urbanovich (9/5): Superb -
- Luke (10/5): Exceptional - Highly recommended guesthouse in Lanta Old Town!
The hosts were extremely friendly and our room was so comfortable. A really nice free breakfast was provided in the morning consisting of eggs, toast and fruit with a hot drink. There is a lovely view of the sea from the veranda jutting out onto the water at this guesthouse, which is a nice place to unwind. Nothing!
- Djven (10/5): Exceptional -
- Virginia (9/5): Superb -
- Tory (9/5): Superb - Nice quiet location a block from the Main Street of old town. Nice staff.
- Virginia (10/5): in exquisite old town the Chomlay is owned by a local sea gypsy fishing family. absolutely unique. - beautiful, simple place.
4 rooms only & truly unique all good
