Guest Reviews
- Gareth (10/5): - Charming place, great staff. Age of the facility, no elevators can make it difficult to access with large luggage, especially for older travelers.
- Tsz Tung (10/5): - Good location and very clean. Staff are very nice too.
We do love the breakfast!
- Kim (10/5): Very quaint Hotel - takes you back in time! - Very quaint hotel. It takes you back in time. The restaurant was very good too.
- Peter (10/5): - Everything was excellent, only issue was there was a private function on and we were informed the bar would be closed to us after 9pm on the second night! First time ever this has happened and we have stayed in multiple hotels! Guests in the hotel shouldn’t be refused access to the bar at all.
- Lisa (8/5): Like living in the Cotswolds - One of only two places to stay in a really charming old England town. The room was spacious and had everything you needed. It is an old building, so no elevator and tight hallways. Mostly great service although a couple of the male workers seemed a bit snobish when we had not made reservations for dinner. There are only a couple of places to eat so if that is a big concern, make sure you have a reservation. We still managed to eat at a pub across the street and at the sister location, the Manor. If you’re visiting the Cotswolds, don’t miss Castlecombe.
- Chris (10/5): - Magical little inn that you can’t help but fall in love with!
- Tendayi L (10/5): - The whole property is like stepping into history, with hidden touches of uniqueness. The shower is spectacular! The whole place was relaxing.
- Lancelot (10/5): - We had a great stay in the Castle Inn. Right in the middle of a cute little village of Castle Combe. Our room was great and the staff were all very friendly. It would have been nice to have a mini fridge in the room, but thats a minor issue. The parking was a little strange too because you have to drive all the way around to the Manor House parking lot, the walk through the gate back to the Castle Inn and on our second day, they were blocking people from getting to the parking because of some event going on at the Manor House, but we still really enjoyed the whole experience of staying here. The food was good on site, as well and you can also chose to eat at the Manor House, though we didnt during our stay.
- Susan (10/5): - Large clean room looking at the church. Once the day visitors leave the town is quiet and peaceful. Plenty to see and do with some amazing local hikes.
- Deborah (10/5): - Our room was beautiful and very cosy. We ate lunch there twice and dinner once - the Sunday roast was especially delicious. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Beautiful location
- Carol (8/5): - Extremely comfortable bedroom. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Powerful shower and very hot water but shower screen was not very clean.
Dinner was rather disappointing and quite expensive.
A lovely location.
- Megan (10/5): - Such a beautiful spot for a relaxing break. The staff were friendly and had gone out of the way to assist us.
- Raj (10/5): - The whole experience staying the hotel was great and can say 5 stars .
My wife was very impressed and happy with the surprise hotel visit.
Highly recommend.
- TMac (10/5): - The Castle Inn was absolutely lovely. Lots of original and characterful features, with an enormous four poster bed in our room. The spa tub was a wonderful surprise. Breakfast was delicious and included in the room price. Highly recommended.
- Valerie (10/5): Definitely worth a visit - Lovely inn in a beautiful village. Service was good and they coped well with all the current restrictions. I would highly recommend.
- Martin (10/5): Race track stay. - Another stay in this lovely small hotel. Ashley and Lilly made us feel very comfortable with the Covid restrictions,
and gave us their time to chat and answer any questions. Had dinner twice both of which were scrummy. We will be back.
- LanceJohnson (2/5): - I notified Expedia that we were unable to travel due to current travel restrictions, and requested a refund on our booking. With no reply. Not hapy
- Peter (10/5): Fantastic spot! Very picturesque - A beautiful hotel in a wonderful location
- Brandon (10/5): Perfect Cotswald Getaway - Super perfect little spot. Checked in with the pub late in the evening, room was spotless, large, historic. Great breakfast and walk the next morning. Perfect!
- Graeme (10/5): Really excellent stay - We really enjoyed our stay there. The room was really well designed, and cosy (especially with storm Dennis raging outside). The restaurant was also excellent. I would recommend to anyone, especially couples.
- James (8/5): - Lovely Inn, beautiful little village. Quiet evening in winter and on a Tuesday night. Dinner was very good, prompt and well looked after. Attentive service. Really quaint room
- Verified traveler (8/5): A good stay - A good stay overall with staff very helpful but a few things lost in communication between the Castle Inn hotel and the Manor which handles a lot of the booking arrangements.Main pub nice and cosy with log fire. Food generally good though could do with restocking the continental selection a bit more and bringing toast out with the cooked breakfast instead of you having to make your own once it has arrived.
- MS (10/5): - Clean rooms with charm. Rare combination! The sweetest staff, most delicious food, in the most adorable village on the planet. Stay here! You won’t regret it!
- Martine (10/5): Fantastic - Fantastic pub, great food definitely worth a stay
- Isa (8/5): - A delightful, quirky hotel with excellent, friendly staff. Being in a very old building the bedrooms were comfortable but had oddities and so do not expect roomy bathrooms.
The evening meal and breakfast were very good and plentiful, with cooked breakfast being served to order.
- Susan (6/5): Lovely little inn but cold - I loved The Castle Inn, and the food in the pub was amazing but... the heat in my room was nowhere near adequate and I was uncomfortably cold despite turning the radiator on full. I was also surprised to have no cell service but the WiFi was good.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Typical old pub/ hotel building. Staff friendly and polite.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great parking facilities which is unusual in England, Castle Inn shares common facilities to Manor House which is beautiful.
Just a really nice place.
- Jonathan (10/5): First Class - Beautiful rooms in a gorgeous building. Spotlessly clean. Staff were excellent and really went the extra mile when we had to change our dates (thanks Katherine). Had dinner and breakfast and both were excellent... and the Italian red was so good I had to drink a full bottle on my own.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great, welcoming staff, outstanding food, comfortable, large rooms... good location... and, under new management, they look like they're just getting better... Only question-mark is the limited parking.
- malcolm e (8/5): Great place to stay - An old inn but now more a place to stay in the centre of Castle Combe, no real parking available but as part of the same group as the Manor Hotel you can use their car park. Room was small but it did say that on the booking form and it was cheap. Meals were good and service excellent.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hier hoef je niet veel woorden voor te gebruiken, in 1 woord: GEWELDIG.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The place is amazing. Very good feeling to stay in a classic and historic property. Delicious food and friendly staff. Definitely I would go back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great stay. Wonderful old pub that has been completely redone. Recommend
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Our hostsbwere excellent from the time we arrived. Polite and helpful.
The room was great and our view into the village was magic.
Meals were good, breakfast excellent.
Everybteam member excelled.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The property is in a very pretty village, but there is nothing to do there. The museum has closed and the tea room is only available if you have pre-booked.
Very disappointed with dinner at The Castle Inn. A lack of vegetables with the meal and an additional £4 for a few chips. Breakfast was no better.
- Alex (10/5): - Absolutely outstanding; beautiful location, lovely rooms, super food and very good value for the quality and level of service. 10/10 would recommend and stay again.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - We stayed at the Inn for one night and had both dinner and breakfast. The room was spacious and comfortable. Dinner was absolutely superb. Staff are very friendly and the location is excellent. Highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Unique British village I would nominate for a World Heritage Site. The Castle Inn provides a classic English B&B experience. The room was our favourite, in the atick with a modern bath room. Tge food was also good. Parking was available in the lot of The Manor, a strong 1-2 minute walk from the inn. Food was good too. I would definitely recommend!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place to stay - we had a great stay at the Castle Inn staff very friendly .Food was tasty and the breakfast Butty was fantastic.
- Laura (10/5): Weekend stay - Lovely hotel in a beautiful village. Breakfast was lovely too.
- Lauren (10/5): Charming Hotel - What a charming hotel! I loved the experience. Stayed two nights with my cousin. First night we drove from London and arrived around 8p hungry and they had a table reservation waiting for us. We checked in and then were able to eat within 30 minutes. Great service. Also LOVE the food. True farm to table experience. Next time I'm in England I want to come back here. I'm also going to recommend this place to others.
- Amanda (6/5): Smoke and mirrors - We arrived late and the chef had kindly agreed to cook us a pre-ordered dinner which was fabulous and really nice of them to do this. However a large glass of wine was £9.35 which was extortionate. The Castle Inn is now owned by the Manor Inn in the village and they have obviously tried to make a 13th century coaching inn into a boutique hotel and failed.
The bedroom looked amazing but lacked those special bits that make an expensive room really worth it. There was no real tea making facilities - a nespresso machine that brewed tea was not really up to the job. The furniture was cheap but painted in a trendy grey so it looked good. There were nothing in the room with any information. Most worryingly of all there was NO fire evacuation notices and as we were at the end of a long corridor this really bothered me. I complained the following day and was told that they would talk to housekeeping.
The bed was really comfortable and the shower was brilliant but the towels were tiny so not luxurious in any way. I have it when they do not think about plug points and mirrors and this was no different - I had to stand and lean across with the hairdryer. WiFi didn't work so we had to call them to find out why.
Breakfast was a disaster - burnt eggs, burnt bacon, cold tomato and cold sausage. We had to send it back but it came back only marginally better. My husband who is well travelled said it was the worst breakfast he had ever had in a hotel.
