Guest Reviews
- ronald (10/5): Stay on 06.09.25 - Hello, we stayed on Saturday 6th September.
Room needs a bit of updating, but apart from that an amazing hotel.
The evening meal was just superb, my partner s steak was incredible, and the carrot soup starter is heavenly.
Reasonably priced and great location, and the owners took time to welcome us
Absolutely 10/10

- Andrew (10/5): - A little gem. Had a fantastic weekend stay at The Smugglers. From the minute we checked in to the moment we left, the staff made us very welcome. The restaurant served superb steaks cooked on their charcoal grill.
thank you Mark and Emily and all the staff. They are a real credit to your hard work in making this hotel a lovely place to unwind and relax. Andrew and Sam

- Jean (10/5): - Everything was excellent would certainly recommend it and I also returned on my return home.
- David (8/5): - This is an absolute bargain - without in any way belonging in the bargain basement! A brilliant location with harbour and town centre on your doorstep - not sure how it is if you have to park your car etc. A quirky, historic house with some signs of wear but very clean, restful and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent breakfast, perfectly cooked to order, and a real pleasure to linger over. Grateful to hosts Mark and Adele for my overnight stay in Brixham. Would definitely use it again and definitely recommend it to discerning friends 😎

- Verified traveler (8/5): Short stay in Brixham - Smuggler's Haunt a lovely and unusual hotel just minutes from the harbour. Good reception, cosy clean room, fabulous breakfast. Parking is an issue but that is the same with a lot of the hotels in Brixham given the nature of the town. Would definitely stay here again.
- Bobbie (10/5): Great location - Good b and b in central location.
- Gregory (10/5): - Hotel and room was warm cosy and clean
Owner very pleasant and helpful would definitely stay here again.
- william (10/5): Brilliant stay - Brilliant Easter stay, lovely people, great service, location and breakfast. Will definitely return next time we visit Devon.
- MIKE (10/5): - Brilliant, recommend
- Linda (8/5): - Our room, number 6, was small but big enough for a weekend away with sufficient storage and a little table with chairs. Tea making facilities. Clean with ensuite bathroom. Unfortunately no free range produce available but generous breakfast still available avoiding cooked breakfast. Toast, cereal, fruit juice, bowl of fresh fruit, waffles. Lovely young girl looking after us at breakfast. Convenient location. Parked in long stay car park 24 hours £8.50 and walked about 15 minutes to reach hotel. No problem at all.
- Marcel (10/5): Literally 10/10! - Ok I will start with the faults…there none! Even if you wanted to give constructive (note the word) and not moaning feedback you couldn’t.
Friendly welcome by the owner. Room 7 was spotless.
Usual amenities of kettle with tea milk and biscuits and a nice coffee machine if needed.
Being on the top floor you would expect a slow shower, this was full pelt! Superb.
Bed immaculate and very comfy.
The weather was kind and so the room was warm. No problem as they don’t muck about with a small side fan but one that was a superb size.
Cracking nights sleep.
Breakfast….efficient, plenty of it and if you want scrambled eggs done professionally and not watery you are in for a treat. 10/10!
After having a big meal the night before I declined the meat on offer and where most places would stick to the normal portions, mine came with extra beans etc. Brilliant.
Parking can be opposite in a pay n display which is max 3 hours during the day and unrestricted 1800-0800 but there is a car park 10 minutes away where you can park unrestricted which is to the left of the harbour.
For the price we paid we were very impressed.
Places like these deserve to do well and you will have no complaints.
Will definitely use them again.
Just thought, if you do visit, look at the clock to left of the reception and see if you can spot what is wrong with it.
- charles (6/5): Didnt happen - Couldnt stay as hotel had problem with a leak but owner was very apologetic
- Rachel (10/5): Will return - Perfect sanctuary for a mini break. Room was comfortable and clean, breakfast was excellent.
- Ruth (10/5): - A beautiful hotel with character and history. Excellent service and sanitised stations throughout. Beautiful clean spaceous room with a top notch breakfast which was cooked to order . An amazing stay and so close to all amenities . Would highly recommend..
- Kerry-Anne (10/5): Friendly functional cosy stay - Staff were really friendly remembering small details and looking into onward travel for us without being asked. Really comfy bed. Not the best shower in the world but not bad. Quirky building and really easy to locate.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly staff, even called me to arrange a later check in. Nicely decorated and clean room. Had all the necessities, including tea and biscuits, were provided. Just what I needed for a 1 night visit, great value.
