Guest Reviews
- Laura (10/5): - The house was very unique and interesting. It had everything you could need and lots of space for the whole family. We loved finding all the stories from the past. The location was also perfect. Nothing
- Karen (10/5): - Fantastic place to get away with a group of friends. The house was quirky and spacious and we could accommodate someone within the group who had accessibility needs.
There were 8 of us and 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms with showers/baths were ideal.
The property was clean and warm, enough towels etc., for the stay and a machine to launder if needed.
Tracy was very kind and helpful and available for our questions.
The town was quaint and its people were very friendly.
Plenty of places to walk, drink, and eat. The kitchen size (including the fridge) could be improved, not much space for bigger group. However, given the nature of the building, we realise that would be tricky.
Some cork pads which could slot into the sash window gaps could reduce the rattling in the wind (it was very windy, and the property is on the seafront).
- Yvonne (10/5): Fantastic experience in excellent accommodation - Lovely house, with great character and history; warm and cosy with plenty of space to relax, play games and chat. Well equipped kitchen. Great location in a lovely little town. Dog friendly. Would definitely go back. Nothing

- Duff (8/5): Happy Family Reunion! - My Family could be all together. House was clean, beds were comfortable. Lovely House. Problems with the WiFi! No TV no Internet.
- Taylor (9/5): Great house for friends to socialise - Location and space Radiators banging at 6.30😂
- Victoria (9/5): Superb -
- Claire (10/5): Fabulous characterful property - What a fabulous house and location. The house is full of character and ideal for a family gathering....with great facilities in a picturesque fishing village. The bedrooms were good sized while cosy, and the 3 bathrooms were great for large groups. The kitchen was compact but had all the equipment needed for cooking for large numbers of people. Overall, a great stay for our family of 4 generations...and a dog. Not much we didn't like... maybe a bit more information in the house on arrival would be helpful, but Tracy, the house manager was on hand to help if required.
- Hazel (9/5): Had an amazing stay - Great location, walking distance to restaurants, shops & bars.
Amazing views
Ample space for 9 people Kitchen was small for size of the house
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Derek (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful old building with lots of History. Everything was very clean. Lovely furnishings & decor. Good location for exploring the area. Kitchen is quite small if you are cooking for lots of people but a minor point.
- Carmen (8/5): Very good -

- Laura (10/5): Absolutely perfect! - This is a fantastic house - absolutely perfect for our family group of 9. Beautifully restored and a wonderful history to the house. I would thoroughly recommend staying here. Nothing.
- Tracey (10/5): Absolutely fantastic! The minor things didn’t stop us wanting to go back, I would highly recommend! - Beautiful property. We had the best time! A few pans were dirty, like the previous occupants had put in the dishwasher then put away dirty. Also the bins weren’t empty so we had to leave some (bagged) rubbish inside so it didn’t blow away
- Jacobus (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely amazing location and perfect for a large Christmas family gathering ❤️
- Tina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional - The charm of the house, it was comfortable, warm, clean.
- Lindsey (9/5): Beautiful historic house - Beautiful property full of history. Perfect for families/groups. Lovely large rooms. 3 bathrooms with showers. Short walk into Eyemouth town centre and beach. 2 of the bathroom door handles are loose and difficult to open as doors are solid. Shame that the museum wasn't open when we stayed.
- Carol (10/5): Wonderful quirky space in a great fishing village x x - Quirky - it’s was spacious and clean and weirdly wonderful x had a great 60th celebration with family . Host very friendly and helpful x
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Philip (9/5): Superb - Stunning location, fascinating house with so many unusual features. Perfect for an extended family group.
- Alexandra (6/5): Beautiful weather in gorgeous Eyemouth made for a happy holiday but the house was disappointing - The location was fantastic and it was clean. I am a huge fan of John Bellany so loved having 3 of his paintings in the house. One shower was newly renovated. The shower drain downstairs was blocked making it unusable and leaving 2 bathrooms for 9 people, there were no bin bags in the house on arrival (which did appear the day before we left) towels had holes in them, the advertised welcome basket was 2 bottles of wine and the “sitting area outside” was an alleyway next to the bins.
- Patricia (10/5): Amazing experience would definitely stay again! - Very spacious, well equipped and full of character. Museum wasn't open 🙁
- Marion (10/5): Perfect location and house exceptional - Location was fabulous, everything we needed was there, cleanliness was great and house was full of charm and hidden secrets
- Barbara (10/5): Exceptional - The size of the property the location The kitchen was on the small side
- Jennifer (9/5): A great location and fascintating house full of character and interest. - lovely spacious and full of surprises
- Alexander (10/5): Great location, very spacious, very comfy. - Fantastic place! Lovely old house, right atop the harbour. Easy to walk into town for meals, or go for a walk along the coast. Rooms are big, and the whole appartment is very comfy. There's plenty of parking, and there's also a lift and toilet for people with physical disabilties. Some of the locks in the upper bathrooms were hard to work, so it's hard to lock the bathroom while you're in it.
- Martin (9/5): Superb - Spacious place with excellent views, and eveything else. The oven was terrible.
- Margaret (10/5): Exceptional - Location was excellent and it was a super house to have a reunion with our cousins. Difficult to lock bathroom doors, maybe they need checked.
- Teresa (9/5): 50th celebrations - Plenty room for 11 guests. Ideal location. All the wee nooks and crannies and the history of house fabulous. Size of kitchen was only issue but wee managed.
- Alastair (8/5): Very enjoyable - Fantastic location with great views and with some interesting secrets! Inevitably with an older property there are a few little glitches.
- Elizabeth H. (10/5): The Merchant's House in Eyemouth - The property is a beautiful historic home with fun trap doors and hiding places from the original owner's tea smuggling days.
It has a wonderful open living and dining area with an expansive view of the town of Eyemouth. We had easy access to restaurants in town (we watched the fresh fish delivered daily), scenic hiking trails and the golf course on the hill behind the house. We also spent a day surfing in Coldingham Bay only a stone's through away.
The first floor of the property is often used as an event space and was used during our stay, but there was really no inconvenience to the situation. We could hear the setup and music from the event, but other than that, our privacy was never invaded.
Great communication and well appointed space. Only drawback we saw was that there was only a washing machine and no dryer. We had many clothes lying about to dry...but there were ample drying racks!
Would definitely recommend for the ambiance and convenience.
Lovely stay!
