Guest Reviews
- Patrick (10/5): - xcellent establishment from pre-arrival communication to the time of departure.
Room was very clean and well laid out, facilities were excellent and the breakfast was of a very high quality. Jo is a very social and knowledgeable host with many suggestions regarding our stay. Would definitely book again
- Anna (8/5): - Lovely location and staff. Very comfy. Lovely breakfasts. Only downside was the breakfast was only served between 8-9 so if you accidently overslept, as we did twice, you're SOL and you're buying breakfast in uttoxeter, which isn't a bad thing as there is lots of great places to eat. Otherwise, lovely accommodations
- Jamesie (10/5): - Jo was really welcoming and made us feel right at home, we had local speciality for breakfast and it was top notch. Room was lovely and comfortable and clean, and we had a great sleep, were well rested for our days in alton towers. Highly recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect stay, couldn't ask for more - My wife and I had a lovely two-night stay to visit Alton Towers and our Beehive stay was perfect. The location is idyllic, tucked away in a little village along the river, whose sound provided great ambiance through our open window (we stayed in the Premier King). It is also extremely convenient for visiting the theme park, less than two miles away with our dinner location of choice for both nights (The Star at Cotton) smack in the middle.
We were greeted by Jo, who provided tremendous, friendly customer service throughout our stay including during breakfast, during which we enjoyed high quality English breakfasts w/ coffee, juice, and homemade jams. Our room also had a kettle w/ tea, coffee, hot chocolate, milk, water bottles, biscuits and a fridge.
The room is very comfortable and accomodating, having clearly been renovated while keeping its classic charm (smart TV, plenty of outlets incl. USB chargin ports, etc). I really appreciated the nice, large shower at the end of a couple long days.
We'd love to stay again and expect to do so. I doubt there is a more relaxing, tidy, tasty, comfortable, convenient and afforable place to stay in the area. The personal touch from our hosts just made everything a little bit better.
- Darren (10/5): Alton Towers trip - Excellent B&B with a clean and comfortable room and a lovely host, who was very friendly and has lots of knowledge about Alton Towers.
- Andrea (10/5): - We found a little gem!!! Spotlessly clean, modern and spacious rooms with period features, which have been extremely well thought out by Jo and Steve during their renovations at this lovely old property. The beds were very comfortable, with brilliant white bedding, the towels were also brilliant white and very fluffy and the shower was great after a long, hot day at Alton Towers (and a few drinks at the local pub, which is a very short walk away!) The breakfast, cooked by Steve, was excellent. My husband enjoyed the full english and my daughter and I loved our first Staffordshire Oat Cakes, with cheese and bacon - gorgeous! Jo was lovely and welcoming and has lots of knowledge about the area to share -and her homemade jam with our breakfast was fab. We were there for our daughters birthday and Jo also left a card in our room from her and Steve, which was such a lovely gesture and very much appreciated.
We cannot recommend The Beehive enough and we will definitely return - thank you so much for such a fabulous stay!
- Aaron (10/5): - Jo & Steve were excellent hosts! Very knowledgeable of the area and the activities which we could consider during our stay. Faultless, will visit again.
- Ian (10/5): Clean and great location. Lovely breakfast - Great location for Alton Towers. Clean, freshly refurbished and an excellent breakfast. Single beds in the Twin we stayed in were 2'6" beds (3' would be nicer) but perfectly comfortable. Electric shower was new and bathroom spotless. Would be nice if the shower was pumped so had more pressure but this is just me being picky. We will definitely stay here again.
- Trevor (8/5): - Lovely quaint stay
- Karen (10/5): - This is a lovely place to stay. Anyone who books will not be disappointed.
- Stuart (10/5): lovely trip to Staffordshire - Super break, lovely hosts, great breakfast, lovely position.
- Darkmane (10/5): Amazing all round. - Amazing hosts, amazing room and amazing breakfast. Would definitely stay again.
- Stella (10/5): - Had a lovely welcome from Jo who was very knowledgable on area and Alton Towers theme park which was our reason for staying. Alton Towers was a short easy drive around 10 minutes. Rooms had everything you needed very clean and to top your stay, a freshly cooked good quality breakfast. Hope to come again next year. Stella from kent.
- Chris (10/5): - its the second time staying at the beehive and the owner is very friendly
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent for walkers and Alton Towers - Wonderful small B&B with friendly hosts. Interesting building and village. Lovely walks from the door. Convenient for Alton Towers (via some small roads). No dinner served but food available within a short drive or delivery from nearby takeaways (information available from hosts or website). Small car park within grounds and nearby parking for larger vehicles. Highly recommended. Room scrupulously clean with daily housekeeping.
- Nicola (10/5): Perfect stay! - Jo was absolutely amazing! She went above and beyond every step of the way. Before arrival over the phone, she offered a later check in than normal due to my long travel time (approx 4.5hrs) and gave me great information about Alton Towers before arrival. On arrival we were greeted with a birthday card for my daughter who was turning 10 during our stay, which was only mentioned breifly during a phone call before travelling there. Jo also helped me sneak around with my daughter's presents and kindly put them on display in the dining room ready for my daughter to walk in to in the morning. The room was impeccably clean, warm and cosy. The shower was great. Towels were soft. Breakfast was absolutely amazing with the most perfect poached eggs I've ever eaten! (Thank you Steve!) And Jo's homemade jams were fantastic! She even gave us some homegrown apples to take home with us.
The area itself was stunning too. Plus lots of places to eat and drink near by.
- Tricia (10/5): Alton Towers Trip - Short weekend stay to go to Alton Towers. Guest house is very cosy and rooms are very pretty and comfortable. Breakfast really good and so was the host. Recommend every day of the week.
- Ben (10/5): - Unique quiet property with access to loads of walking routes and nice pubs/restaurants
The staff are amazing, breakfast fantastic and couldn't recommend more. We will be back.
- Adam (10/5): - Great location yet quietly tucked away from it all to make the stay peaceful before all the entertainment around the area.
- Peter (10/5): - On first arrival the place we met Jo and she was very welcoming and lovely and the room was very clean! We stayed here for 4 days as we was visiting Alton towers resort and Jo knew a lot of information about the place what’s was helpful! The breakfast was lovely aswell I would really recommend the place too others! Thank you so much Jo
- Gita (10/5): Excellent accommodation & service - We stayed here two nights for our visit to Alton Towers and it was the perfect location. The hosts Jo and Steve provided excellent service; their restaurant recommendations were brilliant and their breakfast was delicious. The room was clean and very comfortable and we would highly recommend.
- Dawn (10/5): - Immaculate guest house and the owners were so helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend staying there.
- Clare (10/5): What a fabulous find - 10 mins from Alton Towers! - What a lovely find. We would not hesitate in staying here again. Everything we needed was provided and it was lovely to wake up and be able to have a cooked breakfast. Alton Towers was 2 miles away - a 10 minute drive - and it was the perfect location at the end of a busy day. I would not hesitate in recommending the Beehive to others.
- Graeme (10/5): - Peaceful location. From the moment we arrived the hostess, Jo, was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The room was clean with good facilities and refreshments.
The property is conveniently located for visiting Alton Towers (less than a 10min drive).
Would strongly recommend a stay at The Beehive Guest House if visiting the area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): 10/10 would recommend - Absolutely recommend! Stayed for a weekend while visiting Alton towers. Jo was so welcoming and made us feel right at home! Our room was perfect and so clean! And the breakfast was amazing!
- Jemima (10/5): Perfect for an Alton Towers getaway! - We had such a lovely stay at the Beehive guest house. Jo is a lovely lady who looked after us so well and catered for our differing dietary requirements. She’s super knowledgeable about Alton Towers (which was the reason for our visit) and it was interesting to hear all about the rides history. We stayed in the kingsize room and it was perfect - clean, comfortable and homely. We’ll definitely be back!
- Rosie (10/5): Great B&B, lovely owners - Lovely B&B, well located for Alton towers. Hosts are brilliant, and accomodating for dietary requirements (our group had 2 vegans and 1 gluten free)
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful - My partner and I really enjoyed our stay here. Jo is so friendly and knowledgable about the area. Our room was pristine and the bed was very comfortable. Brilliant shower. Breakfast was 10/10!
- Andrew (10/5): Great service - Lovely B&B. Clean, modern, comfortable and only a few minutes drive from Alton towers. Host Jo was lovely, chatty and knowledgeable of the area. I happened to mention that I had forgotten my phone charger and Jo kindly found a spare I could borrow. Great service! Breakfast was delicious with plenty to choose from. I would definately recommend staying here!
- NICOLA (10/5): The perfect place to stay :) - Love, love, loved it here. I cannot fault anything. Hot drinks in your room, toiletries and towels included. Freshly made breakfast. Their speciality is definitely a must to try! Less than 5 minutes drive to Alton Towers and Jo is very informative about the rides, which is very handy. Will definitely be back.
- Ian (10/5): - Courteous staff, good and somewhat unique breakfast menu, cheerful hot shower
- Alice (10/5): - Lovely place and great hosts, really great stay!
- K (10/5): - Great stay, lovely host, amazing full english breakfast, room and accommodation was spotlessly clean, it's in a small village with no shops other than a pub (doesn't serve food) so you have to drive ten minutes to the nearest town (Cheadle) which has a supermarket, several take-aways, pubs (Wetherspoons included) etc. It's ideally situated for Alton Towers which is why we stayed. Would definitely stay again!
- Sam (10/5): - Very comfy, relaxed stay. Rural village in a deep valley, close to Alton Towers attractions. Plenty of time and space to roam the countryside.
Very gracious host.
- Steve (10/5): - Fantastic place to stay if visiting Alton Towers. Jo (and Steve) very welcoming and offered some great tips on visiting the park. Lovely guest house, very quiet location and the walk along the old North Staffs railway line to Alton, as recommended, was very tranquil. Room was nice, clean and a lovely touch providing tea, coffee, water and a few biscuits. Steve (behind the scenes) did a great job with breakfast and really recommend the local delicacy of oat cakes to start the day… surprisingly very filling! The homemade jam (orange, rhubarb & vanilla) was pretty special as well! Overall… 10/10… thanks again for a lovely stay!
- George (10/5): Lovely b&b near Alton Towers - An absolutely lovely B&B. Owners are great, know everything about the local area and are accomodating to dietary requirements. We went for 2 nights as part of an Alton Towers trip, and it was perfect - around 10 mins drive to the park.
Breakfast was lovely, especially the homemade jams!
Will definitely look to stay again when we are in the area
- Stuart (10/5): - Lovely small property, conveniently close to alton towers and surrounding countryside.
Great breakfast and very helpful and knowledgeable staff.
Warning book evening meal at local pubs early - they fill up very quickly!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Outstanding! - Exceptionally good. Very helpful & friendly, rooms pristine (recently done up), tasty breakfast (must try the Staffordshire Oatcakes!) and very convenient (5 minute drive to Alton Towers, 1 minute walk to the pub!). Next to the river where there is lovely path to wander along for miles.
- Natasha (10/5): Brilliant guest house - This guest house is very clean and the room was spacious. Great location. Jo was very helpful and accommodating with early breakfasts for us and the home made jams were amazing. The room was spotless and we had all the facilities we needed. We really enjoyed our stay at the Beehive guest house and will be visiting again.
- natalie (10/5): - Stayed at the beehive whilst visiting alton towers for scare fest. The hosts where amazing especially Jo with all of her tips for alton towers and just letting you know all about the place. Breakfast was excellent, rooms where clean and very modern would definitely stay here again only a ten min drive to alton towers would definitely recommend the beehive.

- Martin (10/5): A very good stay - Very friendly hosts, just what we were after, it was clean, comfortable and quiet in a lovely village. Breakfasts were particularly good.
- A (10/5): - Excellent accommodation, in a beautiful tranquil village. Owner Jo was extremely helpful prior to our visit and provided friendly service on the two days we stayed. Food quality, choice and service once again excellent.
- Amanda (10/5): Amazing owners/Beautiful Place/Delicious Breakfast - We stayed here for 3 nights while visiting Alton towers. It is a fantastic place, couldn’t have asked for more. The owners Jo and Steve were absolutely wonderful, nothing was to much for them. It was my sons 11th birthday while we were there, and when we came in for breakfast that morning they had put a birthday card on the table for him, which was just so unexpected, absolutely amazing and thoughtful, then after we’d eaten the most delicious breakfast cooked by Steve (Which we have been craving more of ever since) both Jo and Steve came in with my sons cake to sing happy birthday to him. They really go above and beyond for they’re guests, Jo give us lots of tips to help while at Alton towers as it was our first time and they came in really handy and were much appreciated. She also recommended some restaurants in the area which was great as we had a gorgeous meal out. I honestly can’t rave about this place enough, it’s spotlessly clean, in a lovely area, the Wi-Fi was great, and literally 5 minutes away from Alton towers. The only slight issue we had in the room was that the tv is placed in an alcove and from where the single bed my son was sleeping in is placed you can’t see the tv at all, but that’s a small minor thing and absolutely wouldn’t prevent us from returning And we definitely will be in the future. Thank you so much Jo/Steve for a wonderful stay at your beautiful home. (Make sure to try some of Jo’s homemade jams, made from fruit she grows herself, best jams Eva)
- S (10/5): - The hosts are so lovely. Made the stay even better.
- Debbie (10/5): As beautiful as its name suggests - Stayed here with a friend as had tickets to Alton Towers. Beautiful place, clean, friendly, comfy bed, amazing breakfast... didn't need to eat till tea time, less than 10 minute drive to Alton towers and right on the river. Check out was a little early but maybe that's just because I'm older and slow but that's literally the only thing we could say as a negative but even then we weren't rushed out the door because we weren't ready. Would definitely recommend a stay here.
- Stefan (10/5): Great customer service - The owners were very nice and the rooms were extremely clean
- Ian (10/5): - An exceptional guest house run by a very friendly couple. There was absolutely nothing to dislike.
Situated in a delightful village with some stunning walks.
Accommodation was, clean, spacious with a superb breakfast.
Highly recommended.

The room was warm, clean and incredibly comfortable. Breakfast was delicious! I particularly enjoyed the 'oatcakes but not as I know them'. Staffordshire oatcakes which are a local specialty. Jo was even nice enough to share the recipe. Cannot recommend staying at The Beehive enough 11/10!!!!!
- Cerys (10/5): Great stay at the Beehive guest house - Had a lovely stay at this guest house. Is the perfect place if you’re thinking of going to Alton Towers as it’s only a 5/10 minute drive from the accommodation. Cannot fault anything with our stay. Our room was lovely with great facilities and breakfast options were great with the hot breakfast being perfect. The hosts were very hospitable and have lots of information about the area and things there are to do as well as lots of tips for Alton Towers which definitely came in handy! It’s right next to a river with a little pub with a beer garden literally a minutes walk from the guest house. Really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone.
- Sarah (10/5): - This was my favorite B&B I have ever stayed in! Super clean, lots of light, delicious breakfast, friendly and informative hosts, very comfortable bed, little fridge in the room, hot chocolate for us non-tea & coffee drinkers. It was everything I imagine when I think of the ideal B&B. The owners seem committed to continual improvement and the carpet and furniture all seemed very new and fresh. Great location in a beautiful quiet little town with lots of access to nature and easy drivability to other places we wanted to see. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
- Alisha (10/5): Beautiful place to stay!! - The room was absolutly spotless by far the cleanest place i have stayed! Was made to feel extremly welcome after a long drive. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful with an opportunity to try Staffordshire oat cakes with various fillings. Jo was knowledgeable about the local area and places to visit. A truly enjoyable stay
- Holly (10/5): The Beehive Guest House for an excellent trip - What a delight it was to stay at the Beehive guest house! It was easy to locate and close to Alton towers and also had the most amazing oat pancakes for breakfast. Our room was well decorated and clean and had everything you needed. However the real buzz about the Beehive Guest House is the owners. Friendly, polite and great at giving advice but also at sharing the history of the area too. While we came to go Alton towers our next visit to this wonderful guest house will be longer and to see more of the historical surroundings. Thank you Jo and Steve for making our visit amazing and we look forward to returning.
- Philip (10/5): Outstanding! - An outstanding guest house. We stayed for two nights whilst walking in the area. It was my wife's birthday and the owners kindly left a card in the room for when we arrived...a really special extra touch.
There is nothing at all that we could fault with our stay. The owners Jo and Steve are such warm and friendly hosts with a wealth of information on the local area.

- Sarah (10/5): Perfect stay - My partner and I had a lovely 2-night stay at the Beehive last week. The location is excellent, with great views and walks nearby and just a short drive to Alton Towers which is the reason we were stopping over. Everything was perfect - the room was impeccably clean with plenty of space, a great shower, and comfortable beds. Plenty of choice at breakfast, which was cooked perfectly - don’t miss out on Jo’s homemade jams! We were made to feel very welcome throughout our whole stay. Jo has a wealth of knowledge of the village and surrounding areas and gave us fantastic recommendations for dinner. A big thank you to Jo and Steve for reacting quickly when my partner fell ill on our first night. We will definitely stay again and would highly recommend.
- Miss M (10/5): Had a lovely few days! - Stayed in the triple room at the guest house for two nights while visiting Alton Towers. Jo made us feel so welcome, the room was cosy, clean, and well-kept, and breakfast was absolutely delicious. Jo gave us lovely tips as to local coffee shops, pubs, and walks we could take during our time there, and the house is maximum 10 minutes away by car from Alton Towers, so is a very affordable and friendly option if that's what you're in town for. Will definitely book in again for our next trip to Alton!

Rooms where beautiful, comfortable and very clean.

i would recommend a tv in the breakfast room, as was exceptionally quiet, so a bit of back ground noise would of been nice, or radio.
