- Adam (10/5): A great place to stay in Flores!! - *Staff are super helpful and friendly. Even helped to store our baggage whilst we were on a walking tour
*Very clean and spacious rooms
*Perfect location for Flores Nothing.

- Mary (8/5): Basic hotel for a fair peice - The hotel was basic: basic bed, basic bed coverings, basic towels, tiny bars of soap and small packages of shampoo.
The property was relatively clean and the AC worked well the one time we used it. The staff was very nice & the location was fabulous, close to restaurants and in-town activities.
We thought the price of the room was fair for the condition of the property.
Interestingly, we were there during a town celebration, which meant that the fireworks started at 4:30 AM - yes, at 4:30 in the morning! That was a total surprise!! The outdoor furniture in the courtyard was not useable, which was disappointing because the courtyard was pleasant - but that was a small issue. The major issue was the horrid smell in the bathroom, perhaps a sewer smell? We weren’t sure. Additionally, there were small stains in the sheets.
Agradecido.
- Santiago (8/5): Personal agradable y colchones viejos.
- Lionel (7/5): - Emplacement X
- Catherine (5/5): Great location but sadly not a great experience - Location very good. Staff were very pleasant (when they were there - desk unmanned after 6pm). Pre arrival communication via WhatsApp very good. Bedding probably clean but old and badly stained. Power cut when we arrived at 3pm, and due to heat (33° C) floor of bedroom was covered in ants and the, table for suitcases was not cleaned so had attracted a cluster of tiny ants as had one of the bed runners at the bottom of the bed. We were sweltering. Reception staff left at 6, leaving no information or update, lights and most importantly air-conditioning didn't come back on until about 8.30pm. No torches or update provided. Not great.
- Sarah (9/5): Good value for money in a clean spacious room - The staff were very friendly and the rooms were very big.
- Louise (6/5): Fine - The reception woman was kind and helpful. Location was good. The room needed a deep clean....
The bathroom also
- Stephanie (10/5): Lovely central place to stay in Flores with great staff! - Staff were so helpful! Great location and room was very clean. Shower was not great, not much hot water.
- Carlos (9/5): Superb -
- Maiken (7/5): Good -
- Juan (10/5): Perfect location and best price-quality rate - Aire acondicionado All good
- Carlos (8/5): Very good -
- Simon (9/5): Superb - Pretty and well maintained
- The bad was in a very bad condition, really uncomfortable, and no service!!
No windows in the room
- Igor (9/5): Pretty good hotel to stay in the middle of the Flores island. Comfortable, quiet. - Comfortable place in a good location. Quiet, clean, safe. In case you chack-in earlier, you cannot use A/C before the official check-in time which is 3 p.m.
- Ronja (7/5): Good - the location was great and the staff very friendly! we could park the motorcycle in their garage, that was great! the bed could be bigger and a more comfortable.
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daphne (8/5): Good for short stay - - Good Wifi in the room.
- Working AC.
- Good storage, cupboard and shelves.
- Balcony access to dry our clothes.
- Comfortable bed, clean sheets.
- Rooms get cleaned daily.
- Good shower pressure with hot water. - Fan in the room not working.
- Air freshener in toilet went off every few minutes and the fuse was overpowering, possibly toxic.
- No drinking water provided.
- They locked the front door early at night and we had to wake the guard up every time we came back.
- Brian (8/5): Very good - Nothing special... stuff was nice ... everything worked ... good value for the money and more silent than most accomodation we had ✌️
- Giulia (6/5): Pleasant - central location cold shower
- Nick (1/5): Frustratingly unreasonable. - The man at the reception refused to honour the price set by Booking.com and we were forced to find another hotel VERY last minute. He was rude and completely unreasonable. I will not be staying here again and if this continues to happen, I don't see the need for this hotel to even be on Booking.com if they aren't going to accept the prices we actually BOOKED online.
- Somayeh (3/5): Pass - Good location Bed sheets had period stains on it and so did the towels. Poor hot water. Some of the staff were very rude. Reccomend staying at hotel la jungla instead where the room is much cleaner.
- RalphB85 (6/5): Good price and location - My 3rd hotel in Flores, and the best for quiet and price. Room was fine with suicide shower. Easy to get to most places in Flores. No English, not helpful in getting a Tuk-tuk to airport, but found one at 6am.
- Sightseer763216 (2/5): Not a Hotel or Villa !!! - Rooms not like the Picture's, balcony yes but no furniture to sit on. Just one person who is speaking English and he is really unfriendly.... garden is not a garden and again no furnitures so it's difficult to sit together with friends... I think it should not be called a Hotel or Villa, it is a small Hostal for short stay but not for relaxing and having good time together.... air conditioning was not working and the ventilation was broken as well. We just wanted to have a nice time after long travelling but after that experience we go back to an Hostel or Camping because there you know what you get and it's cheaper and more comfortable as well!!!
- 767sebastiand (2/5): Owner arrogant/unfriendly - one guy even tried to attac me physically - nothing like described. - Where to start: we reserved 2 rooms for 5 nights but nothing was like it was supposed to be/described on booking.com: no garden, no sitting area in the rooms (not even one chair) and the A/C didn't work (in one room not even the fan) so we asked if it would be possible to check-out earlier since we wanted to move on anyways.
The owner then called one guy to help him to translate and this guy as over the top: first he appeared/approached really angry straight from the beginning telling us that we reserved for 5 night so we pay for the whole stay - not even trying to hear us out. When I stood up he came really close/kind of pushing me and yelling at me "Don't give me this bullsh** you motherf*****!! This is my country!!" (what a racist thing to say in a touristic town/in a hotel where you clearly have to deal with foreigners on a daily basis) and the owner had a hard time holding him back since he tried to attack me physically...!!!!
Thank god there where 3 people (all wearing the same vest with a badge saying "Ministerio de Tourismo") standing at the reception witnessing the whole situation which was our luck. Who knows how the situation would have turned out without these officials. They all raised their eyebrows and shaking their heads which made the owner quiet uncomfortable since he tried to get the proof from them that he could charge us all 5 nights which they denied. He angrily told us then "you pay 3 nights and leave today!" which we highly appreciated and thankfully accepted. A few minutes later while we were packing our bags the guys from the "Ministerio de Tourismo" came to our room asking what happened and looked really concerned. We explained the whole situation and left the hotel.
While walking down the street to the port the guy who attacked me before followed us yelling "Putas!" and many other Spanish bad words/phrases making us feel really uncomfortable so we were looking for protection going into the next café to feel safe.
All in all I have to say this was the worst experience I ever made being on a journey and I've never been treated so bad as a customer - nowhere in this world!!!
Never ever again and I would suggest nobody to stay at this place at all since it's not even cheap!
- Aquatic_Ape (6/5): The staff are friendly and helpful - The staff at this place are great and go out of their way to ensure your needs are met. The are incredibly friendly and helpful.
This hotel is OK for a short stay. It is clean and central. However, beds and pillows are a little lumpy, mattresses need replacing. The shower, with the electric water heater attached directly to the shower head, gave me an electric shock and then didn’t work.
We were staying during a week of festivals and the street noise was loud, but this would have been the same anywhere on Flores.
- Pacaya123 (6/5): OK for a short stay - We stayed 2 nights at the Hotel Villa Margarita. The room was spacious and clean, but very basic. Reception staff were lovely and helpful in organising transport to Tikal and a taxi to and from the airport, however might be difficult for a non-Spanish speaker. The shower had lukewarm water only (no hot water tap) and the wifi did not work at all. Air conditioning worked well but quite noisy. Great location, easy to walk to everywhere in Flores. Good hotel for a short stay
- ManGaoJam42 (6/5): Decent and Clean. But nothing special - Nothing here to get excited about. The rooms and bathroom were clean, air conditioner works and wifi is ok and a microwave is available. Basic accommodations which are fine for using as a base for exploring Flores and the surrounding areas.
- 80kristinf (10/5): Perfect stay - We stayed in Villa Margarita only one night, but it couldn't have been better. Spacious and clean room, air condition and wifi. It's on a quiet street, but of course super central since the Flores island is tiny. The staff were really friendly and let us have our things there while we were in Tikal, even though we would arrived back after check out at 1pm, no extra charge. I would have loved to stayed longer and will definately use this hotel for my next visit too. Great deal for a good price.
- artzp (10/5): What can I say... - From the moment we arrived at Villa Margarita Roberto and his team couldn't do enough for us...
If you are looking for a clean, air conditioned room (a must for Flores!!!) with a comfy bed to rest your weary travelling bones then this place is for you.
The hotel is set back two streets from the main front which makes it quiet and relaxing. There are tv's with cable so plenty of channels to choose from if you fancy having a lazy day.
The main door is closed at night so everything is secure and safe however, if you are still out partying all you need to do is ring the bell to get back in as there is always someone in reception.
If you have any problems or if require any assistance at all you need do is ask. Roberto and his team are amazing, even going above and beyond to order us a takeaway when we wanted one!
Highly recommended, we had a lovely stay ☺️
- UKtraveller265 (8/5): Lovely hotel in flores - People rave about views of the lake - Margarita is tucked away 2 streets back so you are a stone's throw from the lake with the peace and quiet in your favour. Air con room with warm showers and a small tv with lots of channels when you want to escape from the heat. Roberto was extremely attentive and helpful - he even let me borrow his phone to dial pollo campero when we couldn't be bothered to go searching for food in the heat! A great family run affair and we'd come back if we were to visit Flores again.
- GRjean (10/5): Great small hotel - I'm staying here now for a night and will again in two nights after spending the one in between at Tikal.
It's a great 6 room boutique hotel 2 very small streets back from the lake. It's a great location and a great price.
The owner, Roberto, was very helpful with booking my round trip shuttle to Tikal this afternoon and will keep everything I don't want to take with me. That is so great!
The room is basic, clean and has air conditioning! It was a very welcome haven after 6 hours in a van with no air conditioning to get here!
- SandieS544 (10/5): Wonderful gem - A friend recommended this little hotel and I thought it was perfect. I loved having access to a balcony overlooking the charming town of Flores. The A/C was very needed in the steamy temps, everything worked fine and I was quite comfortable in my little room.
- rhondam921 (2/5): Terrible stay - My husband I stayed here the last 2 nights and although we liked Flores, we did not like hotel villa margarita. We had nothing but problems from check in onwards. The shower had no hot water, the shower also backed up. Then we had no water! Then the AC didn't work after the hot bus ride back from Tikal. Then the toilet plugged and then we were nearly overcharged on our room. They got a plumber to try fix the hot water, came 3 times and spent considerable time on it and then left the bathroom a muddy mess. Will not go back.
- WKATM (8/5): Budget comfort, beware late check-in for budget travellers! - There's not much to add beyond what has already been written here; for the price, this is probably the best value find with air conditioning in Flores. The location is obviously good.... I don't think there is a "bad" location in town.
Worth noting is the abysmally late check-out/check-in time of 3PM. I don't know if this is structured to accommodate some other mode of transportation (is there a late flight to Guate?), but considering the number of budget travellers who arrive with the overnight bus at 5AM, the prospect of having to wait until 3PM is pretty disheartening. Also strange given the amount of other backpackers who leave really early for onward transport to Belize or elsewhere.
The hotel will try and get you checked in early, but only if a room is available which is tricky in high season.
- LostGaiter (10/5): Friendly and affordable hotel. - This hotel is a great place to stay for a couple or a family - all clean rooms are private with AC and bathrooms, yet quite affordable by Flores standards. We called around hotels listed in Lonely Planet that had private rooms with AC and all were more expensive or unavailable, so we were very happy to find Villa Margarita through Trip Advisor. The hotel is run by a friendly family and one of the owners speaks very good English. The internet was fast and reliable. The owners also add a very nice touch with a jug of spring water in the hallway to refill water bottles. If we come to Flores in the future we would surely stay here again.
- Dave1955 (10/5): Great value and helpful staff - Before I left I bombarded the owner, Iveth, with emails. She was wonderful, and answered them all promptly!
The hotel is a small one, and it doesn't have lake views, but it is very affordable and comfortable - and air-conditioned, which is a requirement in hot, humid Flores! The staff and owners were very friendly and accommodating. All the rooms are up one flight of stairs, which was a bit of an issue for me since I have mobility issues, but they were very helpful in taking my bags up and down for me. They also arranged to have laundry done for me for the nominal sum of Q50. They do not have hot water, but really, with the heat in Flores, the water isn't that cold, and a cool shower actually felt good.
- 786marielle (8/5): Simple and Good - We stayed at Villa Margarita one night, it was so nice to have working AC throughout the night in muggy Flores. Internet worked well, and it was quiet enough as the bars bordering the lake are the most visited and the hotel is tucked away from the noise.
- Jtravels2012 (10/5): Great hotel. Great service. Great price!! - We found this gem of a hotel after we had a rough night in a hotel on the other side of the island. The hotel is so clean, easily walk-able to restaurants and the water, and a great price. The room even had hot water (finally), a porch and AC. All the other hotels in this price range were run down and not worth it! We finally had a good night sleep with hotel villa margarita!!
- Travellerfreddy (8/5): Nice hotel, good location, friendly staff - I stayed here for 3 nights in September 2015. The price was ok, expensive for Guatemala but ok for Flores which has typically high tourist prices. The room was comfortable. However, my hot water did work for the entirety of my stay. Maybe this could have been rectified had I complained but I did not mind the cold water with the hot weather outside. They do not serve breakfast but you can find reasonably priced breakfast if you look around. Wifi was good.
- anapI4457DX (6/5): One night visit - I guess for one night is great not that expensive it all but bathroom where horrible they were clean but they need a lot of work air conditioner has a mind of his own but staff and owner very friendly like I said for one night is great but for long period of days not recommend
- Jennykeane (6/5): 3/5 - lovely staff and owner. Rooms were clean. Very central location. Good wifi. Only negative thing I could say is I could hear rats in the attic on occasion which made me feel uncomfortable. Besides that everything was great
