- Sarah (9/5): Lovely - Really friendly, great facilities & lovely breakfast
- Sylwia (9/5): We had such a lovely stay at this wonderful family-run place. From the moment we arrived, everything felt warm, welcomin -
- Timothy (7/5): Lovely people, great breakfast, some things need attention. - Lovely people. Fantastic breakfast. Shower was almost non existent, dribbled out.
Beds need new, decent mattresses.
- Doreen (10/5): Quite a memorable visit. Couldn't wish for better. - Really good breakfast with lots of variations. Stunning location with easy access to surrounding lakes. Was so good to meet Virginia and Ben who looked after us so well. They are so dedicated to their family and business which shows in the high standard maintained in the care they put into everything. Was a pleasure to meet them. We liked everything.

- Rufus (10/5): Excellent - Great quiet location. Superb views. Lovely bedrooms. Excellent breakfast. Wonderful hosts and family. Great for dogs - he loved breakfast too.
Lovely guest lounge with no TV which is great. Fridge in lounge and microwave for your use. Definitely recommend.
The Sun Inn pub about 5/6 miles away is super and lovely food. Not a moan by any means but if yiu need shops you have to travel to Keswick or Cockermouth.
- Andrew (10/5): Very pleasant relaxing place to stop with charming hosts. - Lovely friendly welcoming hosts. The breakfast was amazing with so many quality ingredients. The house was lovely in a great rural location, plenty of easy parking and a nice pub nearby.
- Macorey (10/5): Incredible views, amazing people and beautiful property. 100% reccomend. - The couple that run the property are incredible. Kind, knowledgeable and clearly working insanely hard to make sure all guests have a memorable and enjoyable stay. Small touches like the dog bowl and breakfast sausages for the pup were a super impactful touch, and very much made us feel at home from the first moment.
- Karl (10/5): Fabulous start to 2026 - Comfy, welcoming, fabulous breakfast and close to amenities. N/a
- Christine (9/5): - Wonderful stay in a beautiful location with great walks on the doorstep. Ben and Virginia were very warm and friendly hosts and the breakfast was fabulous too
- Jennifer (10/5): -
- Eleanor (9/5): Perfect for a break in the lakes! - Breakfast was fantastic - sausages were šš»
They were also so welcoming to our dog, he also loved his sausages each morning.
The owners also sent us some really helpful recommendations for dinners so we could book ahead. Our private bathroom was not attached to the bedroom, which was a bit inconvenient.
- CALVIN (6/5): Nice hosts but wouldn't stay again. - Owners very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was very good and arrived on time. Parking on the accommodation private driveway was a real bonus. Location was good for walking and around 7 miles from keswick. Unfortunately, the room we had (6) was very tired and dated. I completely get that it's an old house and take that into consideration, but I would not stay here again. The bathroom is in dire need of refurbishment. It's old, dark, rusty radiator and wall hangers. The shower gives little more than a trickle, leaks onto the floor and the whole bath / shower looks grubby with old lose trims. A real disappointment. The bedroom was better but the bed was so hard, both my wife and I struggled to sleep.
The view from our window was lovely but the actual windows were drenched in condensation to the point of pouring water down onto the sills and carpet.
This appears to be an ongoing problem as there was quite a bit of black mildew all around the frames.
I'm not sure what time the heating is turned off during the evening but it was really cold during the night.
Again, I completely understand this is an old house, but it wasn't a cheap weekend away. We paid a fair price for the accommodation and expected a lot better.
When you book a hotel / guest house, there's a few things you expect to be right. A comfortable bed, warm room, good shower and a nice environment. Unfortunately this was not our experience.
Sorry for the negative review but I hope this feedback assists you in the future. Best wishes.

- Ian (8/5): Lovely hosts, room requires update. - Friendly hosts who were very attentive during breakfast. Nice chill out lounge with honesty bar. Breakfast very nice. Separate bathroom with no heat and shower curtain with mould at the bottom of it.Double Room quite small for two adults. Lounge with a tv would be great.
- Matthew (10/5): - The property was really cosy & in a great location. Our hosts were amazing & made the weekend extremely easy for us. Breakfast each morning was very very good & we would 100% stay here again.
- Rebecca (10/5): -
- Webster (10/5): - A beautiful place to stay ,ran by Virginia and Ben ,nice and spacious, the room was ample for our needs and the use of the living room was a nice touch.
the room we had ,had excellent views of bassenthwaite lake and surrounding mountains, the breakfast was perfectly cooked each day (Including our dogs sausage each day,
The parking was also excellent.
- Ruth (9/5): Lovely location and great value - Breakfast was good. Family were lovely and friendly We should have booked an ensuite room
- Timothy (10/5): Great B&B with tasty breakfasts & views of the lake - We enjoyed our stay at Ouse Bridge House, great location with views of the lake, tasty breakfasts and a great base for local walks Nothing
- Andrew (8/5): - Great food, good location, friendly and attentive staff. Our mattresses were very uncomfortable. Shower could have been more powerful.
- Caroline (8/5): Lovely, friendly and welcoming home. - Lovely, friendly family and very welcoming. Great breakfast. Lack of bedside table on one side of the bed and room and bathroom were a bit on the small side, especially with a dog. We couldāve also done with a small fridge in the room. Didnāt realise we had to pay an extra Ā£25 for the dog on top of what we were paying.
- Anne (8/5): Lovely quiet location in a tidy and comfortable property. Very nice breakfast provided in price. - Lovely rural location very handy to Keswick and Cockermouth. Tidy and comfortable. Very nice breakfast. Appreciated the off street parking. All was fine. It is an older house. Needed to take care getting in and out of as visibility was limited.
- Deborah (8/5): Perfect for a couple of days , would stay again - The host Ben and Virginia were lovely, really friendly, the house had a comfortable homely feel , very relaxed and the breakfast was excellent, varied choice , cooked perfectly to order , good portions and tasty For us it was fine , value for money the walk to and around the lake on the doorstep was a bonus
- Martina (10/5): - Tolles Frühstück und sehr zuvorkommende Inhaber
- Christopher (10/5): -

And excellent food . N/A
- Brooks (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely stay, will go again. Quality breakfasts and quality atmosphere, rooms were very tastefully decorated and beds were very comfy, also bed duvets were very good quality feathered not too hot or heavy, organic quality toiletries. The honesty bar where you can get alcohol had a good selection of drinks. We had the room that has a separate bathroom across the hall whicjh was our own personal bathroom, all other rooms are ensuite so next time we will book ensuite as we are both elderly now and require night trip to loo!
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Keith (6/5): Pleasant -
- Joanne (10/5): Perfect location, super scenic and everything that we needed. - Super comfortable and homely. Great facilities.
And Sally got a sausage in the morning, which was great super dog friendly . Nothing
- Carolyn (5/5): The photos on booking were not the room we were expecting. - Fabulous location near Bassenthwaite lake
The owners and their children were super friendly
Comfortable bed Very tired on the inside and out.
Breakfast could be hotter
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (8/5): Very good - Very nice stay. Good breakfast. Well looked after. Good location. Good local amenities. Nothing
- Jamie (9/5): Cosy guest house with wonderful hosts that won't break the bank. - We had a very nice stay at the Ouse Bridge Guest House. Virginia and Ben are truly wonderful hosts who ensure that their guests are well looked after. We were there on a cycling holiday and were allowed to keep our bikes locked in the shed. We also had our share of rain and were allowed to use the dry room to hang clothes. There is a lovely commons/sitting room in the front of the house with tea/coffee available as well as biscuits and breakfast was a definite highlight with a fresh menu that caters to a variety of diets. As noted, Virginia and Ben are great hosts and they recommended some excellent places for dinner and were more than happy to help with the booking of such places. They are a wealth of knowledge of the region in general and happy to share what they know with their guests to ensure they can make the most of their holiday. The accommodation is a large family home that has heaps of character but also some (typically) small spaces. Our shower was a case in point. Perfectly acceptable and worked fine (a bit slow to drain) but a bit awkward if you're over 185cm. I also didn't particularly get along with our bed, though my partner slept like a stone. Probably just personal preference and nothing negative about the property.
- Philip (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic stay at Ouse Bridge House, cosy room, stunning lake view from our room, Delicious and plentiful breakfast, our dog Sid loved his Sausage each morning, Virginia and Ben are Fantastic hosts. Nothing to dislike
- Chu (10/5): Great place to stay to explore Keswick - Great location wonderful host excellent breakfast
- Jane (7/5): Good - THE LOCATION OF THE PROPERTY IS VERY GOOD AND THE HOSTS WERE VERY FRIENDLY. THERE WAS A MICROWAVE AND FRIDGE AVAILABLE FOR GUESTS TO USE WHICH WAS VERY GOOD. THE BREAKFASTS WERE GOOD AND THE HOSTS WERE VERY ATTENTIVE AT BREAKFAST TIME TO ENSURE WE HAD EVERYTHING WE NEEDED. OUR ROOM WAS ON THE SECOND FLOOR AND QUITE SMALL. THE BATHROOM WAS DISAPPOINTING.
- Paul (9/5): We would stay here again. - Beautiful views of the lake. Fantastic breakfast and lovely hosts.
- Rikki (8/5): Good value for money in a peaceful location - Good location for Bassenthwaite lake. Good bus link, close to a good pub with food Nothing
- Tom (10/5): Homely and welcoming. Would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone. - Benās breakfast was stunning and the dogs loved the plate of sausage they both had very much. Virginia and Ben were so welcoming and it felt like a home from home. The most dog friendly place weāve been. Nothing
- Marie (10/5): Cosy & welcoming, very warm and helpful. - The hosts were fantastic Nothing really
- Verified traveler (8/5): Wonderful - Very Fiendly Host...Nice location and pleasant stay
- Chris (8/5): A pleasant friendly to stay - The hosts were fabulous. Very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast superb. I loved its location adjacent the lake in a ( relatively) quiet corner of the Lake District. Plenty of parking on-site. For the price it was, by modern standards, good value. The shower in the private bathroom was a challenge. The decor was minimalistic and jaded. The house could, with some investment, become a first-class residence.
- Vee (10/5): Lovely stay very happy š 100 percent - The hosts were lovely ,friendly and very helpful
The room was spotlessly clean spacious and comfortable.
We had a garden view which was great as it was really sunny and made the room so bright ..
The breakfast was easily ordered online and was delicious and filling with lots of choices
The lake was over the road with a little walk through a gap to where the lake was
We took our dogs which had a breakfast sausage which they loved .
Facilities were excellent and if you needed more coffee ,tea ,milk you could top up from the comfy lounge if needed
We sat in the lounge and evening and had a few drinks from the mini bar which you filled I'm a lust of what you had and pat on leaving it was very reasonable prices as the closest pub The pheasant was quite expensive for a drink .
We would defiantly stay again we felt very welcome and loved our stay immensely There was nothing we didn't like
- Karren (6/5): A lovely place with much potential. - Ben was the ideal host and attentive at breakfast time.. The venue is lovely but it would have been nicer to have somewhere to sit outside rather than the car park. The fridge in the sitting room was a good touch. Having to make our own beds and bins not emptied daily on a 3 day stay was not expected, a biscuit or two in the room plus some hot chocolate would have been good. The back of the bathroom door seems to have escaped the coat of paint that the rest of the room had. A pot of coffee would be better than a cup on the table when we came down and brought after the fruit juice might have been a good idea. Porridge with seeds and cereal with turmeric is an acquired taste so seeing the packet would alert those not liking such things. I can understand ordering cooked breakfast the night before but a choice of juice and cereal on the morning should not mean waste. Mattress and pillow case protection has been the norm for many years and would be a good idea.
- Andrew (10/5): Excellent hosts and ideal location for exploring north Lakes - Excellent hosts
Tasty freshly cooked breakfast
Comfortable beds
Residents lounge with honestly box for drinks
Local Pheasant Inn very handy for dinner and a few beers Took a few attempts to get shower at correct temperature
- Andrejs (7/5): Good -
- Savciuc (10/5): Our lovely stay at Ouse Bridge House - The atmosphere, we felt like home. We were well taken care of. Very nice couple, Virginia and Ben, thank you for everything, you were so nice to us. We loved everything, and we both think that this was the best holiday we had so far.
- Alesia (8/5): Very good - Location, staff, breakfast, house No heating at night time, was quite cold, not comfy mattress ( too soft) but it's only my opinion)
- Alyson (10/5): Lovely hosts and a warm welcome - Lovely hosts
Very welcoming
Amazing breakfast and fantastic home made cookies welcomed you back in the afternoon.
Nothing is to much trouble and we had a lovely stay N/A
- Antony (9/5): Superb -
- Eileen (8/5): Lovely B&B with lake view - Being the only guests during our stay we had full and kind attention from the owners. Breakfast was excellent. We had a great view from our room. Property was lovely and warm. There is a pub within short walking distance. It was a little remote for us. Bring a torch as dark at night and limited footpaths.
- Robb (10/5): Had a great stay and hopefully will return soon. - Cosy, great hosts, lovely setting and view. Good breakfast.
- Natalie (10/5): Excellent, will highly recommend - Very friendly people and dog friendly. Good location too It was all lovely, no bad points
- Connor (10/5): Exceptional -
- Philip (10/5): Comfortable and great breakfasts. - Lovely welcome hosts
- Jack (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (9/5): Very pleasant, with helpful, friendly hosts and exceptional breakfasts. - We enjoyed meeting and talking to Ben and Virginia, and thought the breakfasts were superb. The bed was comfortable, the room pleasant and there are great views from some of the house. The room we had had could do with a second reading light.
- Kelly (10/5): K&G - We were made to feel very welcome. The room was clean and comfortable with a great view over the lake, the breakfast was great and even catered for food intolerances.
- Tsf (9/5): Lovely! would definitely recommend booking! - Hosts are absolutely lovely and made the visit so welcoming and easy.
Good room and view, bed was comfortable. We stayed in room 7 which had a full en-suite, dressing table, wardrobe and side tables; if youāre taller it may be harder to walk around the bed with the slanted ceiling but was fine for us; room was a great size for us with our smaller medium sized dog.
Itās in a lovely location with some nice walks and 10/12 minute drive to keswick, then 40/50 minute drive to windermere. Easy to find/ access and parking out front of house.
Hosts also give good suggestions for places to visit or dine around the area and have great knowledge of the what to do/see. Everything was great - The toilet flush was a little loud, wasnāt an issue but just worried us it would wake other guests up during the night.
- Kathryn (8/5): Hosts were very accommodating towards our dog even providing him with a sausage for breakfast. The breakfast was excepti - Quiet location near to the lake with a beautiful outlook Access to the lake unsuitable for launching a kayak/paddle board but fine for a lakeshore walk
- Paul (10/5): A traditional B&B run in a 21st Century way. - The hosts were a wonderful family who live on site and it felt very homely. Their attention to detail for every aspect of the B&B experience was excellent.
- Yuval (9/5): Superb -
- Anne (9/5): Wonderful family owned hotel - The hotel is run by a lovely family, is very dog-friendly and breakfast is customisable hence you get to pick exactly what you want for your perfect breakfast. The bathroom was rather small for people above the average height.
- Adrienn (10/5): Cosy, family run guest house. Good example for servant leadership and lovely customer service. - View from room is the best, with sunrise in the morning.
Room is clean and well equipped with comfy bed and crisp bed linen and towels. Breakfast excellent. Great service. All is good. Off note: Weather was not with us, prepare for muddy walks.
- Daniel (8/5): Very good - Property was in a quiet area with great views of the lake and Skiddaw (I think). Not too far from Keswick or Cockermouth if you wanted a decent/distant walk and obviously close by car. Hosts were fantastic and very friendly. Breakfast options were brilliant and communal area was nice to have a sit and relax.
- Svitlana (9/5): Superb -
- Ken (8/5): Clean, tidy, nice breakfast, good hosts. - Plentiful breakfast nice quiet scenic location. Plenty parking space and convenient bus stop just outside. We had a bath but prefer shower
- Brian (9/5): Superb - Breakfast was exceptional, particularly the porridge.
- Charles (8/5): Very good -
- Mike (10/5): Exceptional - Breakfast was amazing
- Michael (9/5): Superb - Lovely location, incredible breakfast, welcoming and accommodating hosts that make you feel at home. Very dog friendly, relaxed. I was impressed with the attention to detail. Our room had a bathtub, but it would be useful to put in a wall holder for the showerhead, and shower curtain.
- David (10/5): - Excellent stay comfortable accommodation conveniently near Bassenthwaite lake walkable, lovely owners very friendly
- Christopher (10/5): Great place, lovely people and will return - Location was excellent, Veronica and Ben were so good and a mine of information regarding walks. Absolutely made our holiday with Benās suggestions about our route up Skiddow. Will definitely be back
as is a gem of a place. Breakfast brilliant, hosts are fantastic .
- Nigel (10/5): Through the Western Lake District - Wonderful stop, as we travelled North. Ben and Virginia were gracious hosts, so warm and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. We were encouraged to treat the place as our own and the breakfast, made to order, was delicious!! The Pheasant is a three minute walk away for a cheeky pint or a lovely lunch/evening meal. Although slightly more expensive, itās worth it to be able to stagger back and not worry about driving. The bus is also at the end of the driveway and will take you into Keswick should you wish. Thank you both for a lovely stay. My only suggestion would be for comfy chairs out front so to take in the fantastic scenery.

- Molly (9/5): Superb -
- Hinde (10/5): Lovely place to stay - Great location, Relaxing atmosphere, Ben and Virginia were superb hosts. Aww. The fact that we couldn't have stayed longer
- Trevor (10/5): Best choice of accommodation we could have made in an area we have not previously stayed. - Breakfast was excellent, especially the home made porridge. Great selection on offer. Location was very good with access to direct bus to keswick which reduced the need to use the car.
- Corrina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cb (10/5): Perfect place for a comfortable Lake District holiday - In a beautiful location on the lakeās edge, this old house has been tastefully and very comfortable renovated and modernised by the current owners, who could not have been more welcoming or more attentive.
Our room was spacious and comfortable, but there is also a very inviting sitting-room on the ground floor with a warm fire in the chimney, besides books and games, a microwave oven, and drinks to be purchased.
Breakfast was exceptional, with multiple options freshly prepared to order placed the previous evening, from high-quality ingredients including local produce .
We do hope to return! Wifi was poor.
- Helena (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent Breakfast, so many good options, and excellent quality
- Nikita (10/5): Wish we stayed longer! - Great breakfast, very friendly and helpful hosts, wonderful location!
- Lauren (3/5): Wonderful stay. Sad itās over - The location was fantastic. Hosts were really lovely- super friendly, they knew a lot about the local area and service was great.
The guest house is dog friendly. Ben are Virginia weāre really welcoming to myself, partner and my dog. She loved her morning sausage.
The breakfast was amazing too. Iāve never had such a good breakfast.
Iāve recommended this place to friends and family. Thereās nothing not to like
