Ottawa in the restaurant was the BEST... very kind, very friendly. Great Breakfast. The bed was CRAP... My husband and I shared a bed. It fell in the middle! Not just sagged. FELL. The bed was the worst. Another of our rooms (3 ttl in our group) had to change rooms because their bed broke.

• Tiffany (7/5): The staff is great, but parking/breakfast made it just okay. - We were not able to enjoy breakfast (even though I paid for it) because it was not clear that breakfast would not be available before our departure. The parking situation is not great. The only choice is valet, and although you can come/go as you like, it's a little inconvenient to not have access to my personal vehicle while I'm staying there.

When you ask for a refund of breackfast, they tell you that they will give you an answer in 1 week.... • AJ (8/5): Funky Part of Town - This hotel is located in a funky part of town. Very cool restaurant next door with great service and food. If you have a service dog, make sure you have papers as front new staff member was abrupt about seeing papers. This is our 14th straight hotel night and first front desk person like this. There is a park green area out the front door to the right three blocks.

Restaurant was only open for breakfast even though it was advertised as all meals. All the fixtures in the room were falling off the walls and the ottoman was worn down.

We walked to Lydia Restaurant, Jack Stack BBQ, and to a great jazz club at night with no fear of walking back to the hotel at midnight. The bartender in the hotel acted like he was bored to death, so we walked right on by. No problem, but the hotel loses out on revenue.

We didn’t even attempt eating breakfast after seeing how unclean the area was. The bar was dirty and seemed to be used like storage. At check in the man at the bar looked sketchy. Something seemed off with staff who were working. We would not stay here again especially with what we paid. Find another location.

PS: paid for breakfast everyday. Snacks in the hotel lobby were horrible in our opinion. Bar awesome also. Overall really nice hotel that was clean and quiet for where it is. Biggest issue was the bed quality. It felt like someone had blown the center out of the bed. No support.

• Kyle (8/5): Nice renovated hotel, good value, heart of Downtown KC - It's a really nice hotel. Definitely was an older building that got renovated, so it has a very rustic and authentic feel. The location is great, it's right in between downtown KC and the WW1 museum. We booked last-minute and got a really good deal on the room. They have valet, but you can park on the street overnight until 10 AM which was really easy to do, so we didn't have a cost there, either. The lobby bar is nice and the staff was great. N/A

We brought our Maltese because they said they were dog friendly. However, in the morning after our first night, the front desk called our room and said they got a complaint of a dog barking and yelling at about 6am from multiple guests. Mind you, our dog was barking at housekeeping going through the rooms, which would be a normal for any dog, just like it was normal for me to tell him to be quiet. The front desk guy proceeds to mention that “he doesn’t know if the other guests heard arguing or an altercation,” obviously attempting to create a narrative. He then very nastily threatened to force us to leave if it happened again. Understandably, anyone who gets a hotel room doesn’t want to be awakened by dog barking at 6am and had every right to complain. That’s not the issue. The issue is the manner in which this individual felt he needed to convey that message. My honest opinion is that if you are pet friendly, you should expect dogs to bark, because that’s what they do. It’s going to happen. But just like I don’t go on “family friendly cruises,” if you have a problem with a dog barking at a dog friendly hotel, you probably shouldn’t book there. Again, it was the tone of the receptionist that was very unprofessional, but they don’t really teach these kids about customer service and tonality when delivering bad news nowadays. Chalk it up to the times, I suppose. But I don’t see myself staying here again after that experience.
