Guest Reviews
- Donna (7/5): Once we sorted ourselves out we enjoyed the locals, mountain look outs and night markets - Location was great for local activities. Room was small but clean Having stayed in a few other locations we kind of expected the same sort of local knowledge and assistance… hosts weren’t particularly keen or helpful with ideas around what to see and do
- Shemaiah (9/5): - Quiet environment and good amenities Just the road going to your place
- Alessandra (10/5): Affascinante, pulito, curato, silenzioso.
- Rosemarie (10/5): We loved the atmosphere and warm hospitality! - We loved the atmosphere of the common seating areas! The plants and waterfalls were memorable and the warm hospitality of the hosts was genuine. Our room was a little small and the towels could stand to be upgraded.
- Sheila (8/5): - Good location. Spacious room, very cozy, homey vibe.
- Grace (9/5): It was a nice stay. - It is a home away from home. The host/owner is very accommodating.
- Gé (8/5): -
- cha (8/5): The owner was very entertaining and hospitable. - Accessible location and good breakfast
- Lanai (9/5): Homey, safe. - Nice location, quiet and safe. Little bit away from the malls but close to old Albay. Feels like a welcoming home with places to be outside the room and some amenities like rooms with small refrigerators and kitchen sinks. Nice for single, couple or family. Parking for car and motorcycle. Walking to groceries. Sometimes the old plumbing smells and it's fairly hot in common, open air rooms.
- dejesus (10/5): - Hospitality None
- Araceli (10/5): Enjoyable and relaxing holiday staying at Balai Tinay - The place is neat and tidy. Close to SM mall…only 5 mins away. Not much of a view but the house feels that you’re home away from home, feels so relaxing. The staff is very friendly, helpful and accommodating. None
- Michelle (10/5): - The staff is friendly and approachable.
Sehr gutes wifi umd Netflix.

- eratotantalus (8/5): An Old Albay Feeling - Location of the place was central to the town/city proper. It was easy to navigate to and was reachable via Grabcar and Grabfood deliveries. You can also walk to the restaurants and nearby convenience stores (about 8 to 10 minutes away). The staff were polite to offer a bigger room for us although it required adding a bit extra so that the room would have a bit more space for 4 people. They have a parking space in front of the building and one can look out the window from a small portion of the house and see Mayon squeezing out lava at night. Aircondition worked fine and the shared kitchen space was definitely functional. TV had netflix and the room had basic toiletries and towels to use. There was just no toothpaste and toothbrush and it somehow felt like you are staying at your old nana's house. Reception is the house's garden area. Room looked clean but you can smell and touch dusts that maybe formed at the top counter above the beds' head side. There were books and board games but we didn't get to try using them as it was also dusty so this may not be ideal for someone with asthma or allergic rhinitis. There are rooms downstairs but if you get assigned to the ones at the higher floors, it might be difficult for physically disabled people to get to due to the set-up of the stairs. The room we were assigned to had an outside the bathroom shower/changing area which was quite unusual and would not always be an ideal place to use when your room mates has the aircondition on despite having a water heater as it still is influenced by the cold temperature of the room so maybe there could be something done to seclude the bath area. There's hardly any view of Mayon from the rooms as the house faces the other way.

- Princess Liann (10/5): Our whole family enjoyed our stay! - Place is clean. It’s only a few minutes drive to tourist spots which is great. Aaaand you can see the Mayon from the 3rd floor, it is really cool. Highly recommended 💯
- Annalyn (10/5): We really had a great time staying in their guesthouse. 10/10 recommended! 🫶🏼✨ - the coziness and vibes of the whole place. It feels like our own home. The owner and her helper were super nice too.
- Annabel (10/5): -
- Magadia (10/5): perfect and hommey - everything 3rd floor has low internet conmection
- Anthony (7/5): Nice and quiet - quiet none
- archie (9/5): Nelson is very accomodating as well as the Lady Owner. - its a uniquely home vibe experinced in Balai Tinay.I will come back for sure.🤗 Loved the design concept of the place.Rooftop view of Mayon is clear. none
- Moriah (10/5): Perfect place! Ate Jinjin , the owner is super kind, lovely and best host! - It's a perfect place to stay here in Balai Tinay Guest House. Better than Hotel! Nothing, nada, wala! Perfect place to see the beauty of Daraga, Albay
- Vanessa (8/5): -
- Lanai (9/5): My new go to - Feels like a big home. Bed a bit soft
- Annette (9/5): Would come again - Friendly staff, comfy room, nice atmosphere. Good WiFi and air con I like everything
- Royce Arvi (9/5): -
- Paz Bernadette (9/5): Superb - The service is excellent. They are friendly, accommodating and approachable. Staircase is high
- Kevin (10/5): -
- Gwenllian (10/5): -
- Michael David (1/5): Stay if you want to regret - Pillow smelled clean. That's it. Even if there were attempts from the one worker to be "nice" (like providing hot water for coffee), she was actually just doing her job as the (literal) housemaid. 1. False advertising - this is not a hotel, or even a motel or inn. This is a dormitory charging hotel rates.
2. As a dorm, the owner was ever-present in the receiving area, hallway, etc. As if to remind you you're just a guest in her house.
3. The rooms we got were small, really small. Like they were just added to turn a big house into a profiting BnB.
4. There's a stench in the shower/toilet that doesn't go away. It was clean in appearance, but the smell was still there.
5. Water pressure in the shower was really bad; dripping bad.
6. There's a curfew; you may not welcome guests past 10.
7. Except for the bed and TV, nothing else is in the rooms (no fridge, no bedside tables, no chairs, no free bottled water, and so on).
8. There's hot water in the dining area of the house, but... they only have old tea bags and no coffee. So here, it's buy-your-own stuff to drink.
9. WiFi was, basically, non-existent. Don't attempt to do internet-related work while here, you could lose your job.
10. Invasion of privacy happened to us. Particularly, we went out just to grab food, so we left the air-conditioner on. But when we returned, it was turned off, the TV was unplugged, etc. Nothing was lost, thankfully. But having someone enter the room we paid to occupy without our consent was still disturbing.
11. There's a school beside the property, so - when students have classes - noise level can be intolerable.
12. Accessing the property isn't easy for those with vehicles (and this is even if parking is available), since the roads leading to it are winding and really, really narrow.
13. Don't trust those pictures - for instance, there's no yard, there're no good views from the property, and the rooms are much smaller than shown in pictures.
- Iris (9/5): We absolutely loved it - The most cozy and warm feeling place we have been too in the Philippines
There’s a lot of area to sit inside the premises and it feels like you are sitting in your own living room
We have 3 kids and it was just perfect Everything was clean except mold on the shower walls
- Pablo (1/5): Stairs are the only availability to get to the rooms. Not applicable for someone with disability - We did not stay at the property at all.
- valerie (10/5): - Very nice staff.Really helpful
Very nice place,very confortable

- UBALDO (10/5): - Amplitud. Net. Airejat. Nevera. Ventiladors. Habitació espaiosa, neta, llum natural, endolls i llums a tot arreu. Presió d' aigua i calenta. Que he tingut que marxar. Cinc dies que s'han fet curts.
- Native English Brian (7/5): Friendly, helpful and plant-filled. - Excellent, helpful manager. Nice building with lots of seating/ quiet space.
Beautiful plants everywhere.
Great view of volcano.
Good shower. Room a little cramped. Bed not the best.
- Lanai (9/5): Definitely will book again - Feels like a home, great common areas, clean and safe, quiet, off main road. Nice touches like air fresheners, shampoo and body wash, pictures, etc. Sewer smell coming from sink when running water), hard to find at first.
Chambre calme !
- Berlin (10/5): Wonderful stay - I love Balai Tinay! The staff are kind, friendly and service-oriented. I love that they have smart tv in the room. They also have free drinks for their guests. Highly recommended for those who want value for their money. It was great and easy breezy, from the beginning until the end of our stay here. N/A

- Rabino (10/5): -
- Michelle (9/5): - Country home vibe
- Aline (10/5): - Top !
- EVELYN (8/5): -
- VIRGILIO (5/5): -
- Emilio (10/5): It was a good stay, good parking, nice staff, and we feel at home. - We were upgraded because my mom, a 94-year-old is too fragile to climb the stairs. The room is very nice and spacious enough for the 4 of us. I travel with my wife, my son, and my mom. I love the room and its location which is near shopping mart and restaurants.
- Alain (10/5): My mom and I had a pleasant stay. - It’s an old guest house and yet well maintained, very clean, very private, quiet, and the common areas are very pleasant and accommodating. Kuya, the male staff, who I forgot to ask the name was very friendly and accommodating and so is the owner. Generally good.
- Ysabella Louise (10/5): Had a relaxing and great stay at Balai Tinay. - Love the relaxing vibe, location, fast WiFi, and facilities. It’s a short walk to the Main Street (Rizal Street) where there are lots of restaurants, jeepneys, and tricycles. It’s also near a supermarket. One of the best things is the view of Mayon Volcano from the terrace :)
Definitely recommend this place to anyone staying in Legazpi City! None
- Janice (8/5): - Affordability
- Florène (10/5): -
- Ritch (8/5): Great place to stay in Legazpi - The property was clean and homey, and beds were comfortable.
The owner was so friendly and accommodating, she gave us some tips and ideas where to go and what activities to do near the area.
- Nimfa (1/5): Really really worst of the worst - We arrived late because our flight was late. Before hand I notified The place tgat we’re going to be late. We arrived nobody opened the gate after banging the gate so hard. After 10 mins after banging the gate and calling somebody to open we left and went to another hotel. I need to be reimbursed back with the money I paid for our stay! They did not open the gate! After 10 mins of calling somebody to open the gate and knocking the gate!
- Mark Anthony (9/5): Excellent! - Everything.
- Mike (10/5): -

- Maryooshek (10/5): Lovely stay with an unforgettable rooster alarm clock - We really enjoyed our stay at Balai Tinay Guesthouse. The atmosphere is very welcoming and feels more like staying in a home than in a hotel. The hosts were extremely kind, friendly, and always willing to help with directions, transportation, and local tips.
The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, with reliable air conditioning and enough space for a pleasant stay. The guesthouse is located in a quiet residential area, which made it easy to relax, yet it is still close to the city center, restaurants, and shops.
One of the highlights was the rooftop/terrace area, where you can enjoy fresh air and, on a clear day, even see Mayon Vulcan. Overall, the guesthouse offers excellent value for money and a very peaceful, authentic local experience. The only downside was the very punctual rooster alarm clocks outside — apparently they do not believe in snoozing. Nature lovers will appreciate it more than late sleepers 😄
- Glaiza Kay Bana (9/5): -
- Jowie (10/5): A very good stay and very relaxing and a few minutes away from the city center. - The room spacious and clean I like it all, it is just a few minutes away from the city center and the staff very friendly and accommodating.

- Kerstin (10/5): Home away from home - Very nice. Everything is very clean, the rooftop is spacious and you really have an amazing view of Mayon. The staff is very friendly and we could soak up the Christmas Atmosphere. Free water is always a great plus to reduce plastic waste

Silent sitcom
- Bernadette (9/5): It was a fantastic two nights and three days. We love it and highly suggest it.o - Very accessible to downtown, malls and airport. Indeed a good location! The route to the guesthouse was small and in a residential area, but the location is quite convenient to everything downtown. We arrived up in a nearby elementary school that is inaccessible by vehicle unless you make a U-turn inside the premises because Google Maps did a poor job of directing us to the correct entrance. Fortunately, the guard was quite helpful and helped us find our way out.
- Pieter (8/5): - For us the right location for a quick visit to Bicol/Legazpi. Straight forward accommodation with parking spot in front where we could put our rental car.
- Brendon (9/5): I would recommend to anyone - Bed was comfortable, tv worked and had Netflix, AC was very cold, had no smell, no bugs, good parking, breakfast was yummy so all in all….perfect…. It’s hard to turn on the street where you are headed towards the school going to the house…I guess I should have went the other way because I noticed 2 ways to get there.
- Fe (10/5): Affordable - Feeling like home Using stairs
- Chris (10/5): Excellent choice to experience some Filipino Culture. - This was a great experience to stay a traditional Filipina Guesthouse. It was so comfy and lots of places you can enjoy or relax. Breakfast in the morning was great, it was extra however which I knew. You can walk across the bridge and one block away is the Robinson. I drove a car to the location, and if you are trying to come from the direction of the Albay School across the single lane bridge, it is very difficult to make the turn with the pole in the middle of the road. Trying to get to the location from this direction is almost impossible without backing into the turn or turn around in the elementary school.
