Guest Reviews
- Karen (8/5): - Location and good value
- Elizabeth (5/5): Average 3 star - Location was great for wedding at Millbrook Winery. Beds were comfy (pillows very soft so byo if you like firmer ones), heating was effective. Main bedroom was very large. Clear entry instructions. Ok for 3 star rating. A little maintenance on some small things would make a big difference. Leaky shower, quite a few missing light globes, curtain rail broken in 2nd double bedroom. Unable to unlock the back doors with the keys provided leaving single exit point.
- Annaleese (5/5): -
- Sonja (2/5): Sadly dirty and uncared for - Location was not bad It was dirty, linen not changes and towels still on bathroom floor, repairs are well overdue, we found the breakfast boxes for the cereals which were over on year out of date. All over very disappointing. Also there was a planned power outage so we had no power. Overall very poor. The property could be good with a little care and renovations.
- Tanesha (4/5): Desperately needs some basic maintenance. - Location, clean living areas, hot water pressure, well stocked kitchen with cooking utensils, great heating, quiet. The bedding was stained, and the towels were both heavily stained and extremely thin. The front door lock was broken, and both back doors were also broken and couldn’t be locked, something that’s simply unacceptable when hosting guests. When we raised this concern, the owners acknowledged the issue but dismissed it by saying, “Yes, it’s broken, but it does shut.”
The lighting throughout the property was very poor, with multiple bulbs missing. There was no accessible power socket in the bedroom with the single beds, and several cupboard doors were broken, some of which my father kindly repaired himself out of goodwill (including the broken back fly screen door). It’s hard to understand why the owners couldn’t take even 30 minutes to address these basic maintenance issues and give the place the minimum attention it clearly needs.
- Stacey (3/5): - Location was great, close to everything, nice cafe and pub closeby. Lots of walking trails closeby and kids loved the skate park nearby. 1. We had some trouble checking in because the keys to the front door didn't work. We were stuck for a while and I couldn't reach the owner on the mobile phone that was provided. Until we went to the backyard and entered through the back door which was unlocked.
2. The back door cannot be locked. I messaged the owner on Booking.com about this and they told me that the screen door of the back door can be locked, but that's not true. I've tried multiple times and it cannot be locked.
3. The heating in the living room is strong, but the heating in the family bedroom does not work. Again I messaged the owner about this and was told it works, but again that's not true. You can turn it on but it's just cold air coming out.
4. This is probably not something the owner can do anything about. But for the 2 nights we were sleeping there, there was some noise outside the family bedroom on and off for the whole night. It sounded like some small animal scratching, scraping and then knocking non-stop, but we don't know what it was. It was hard to sleep on the first night, and I had to use earplugs the second night but can still hear it in the background although muffled.
- Skinner (6/5): Pleasant -
- Dave (5/5): Rustic building, a quiet place to have a sleep and a hot shower. - Comfortable bed, shower worked well as did internet. Breakfast, only supplied a couple of cannisters of Cornflakes Rolled Oats. No milk, Juice, Bread or butter supplied.
- David (7/5): Good -
- Mcgill (5/5): Served its purpose for our stay. - Being able to be with my family and share the history of Jarradale for them haven grown up on farms in the area. Average breakfast option unlike what they promote in the internal blurb book.
The property not being fully lockable. (Back sliding door completely missing lock component.)
Very dusty in one of the rooms, dining chairs need a good clean or replacement.
- Kirra (6/5): Great location - Location Existing Damages to property were not disclosed until the day before check in.
- Dick (7/5): Good -
- Geoff (4/5): Good stay but room had mice in it. - We didn’t get the breakfast as I think we missed the need to request ahead of time notification. While the house was spacious for the five people we ended up sharing it with some mice. One of the mice in the master bedroom chewed through my backpack to try and get food inside. Also was running behind my bed at night hitting the power cords to the bedside lamps which kept waking me up. Other than the disappointing issues with the mice the property met our expectations and needs.
- L (6/5): Pleasant - The location was very nice. The house itself was nice and clean. The kitchen was well equipped. When I turned the double bed down in the large room to get into bed the sheets were stained!!! It looked like they had been washed but no care was taken to remove stains.
Also, there were issues with the door to this room. The lock had to be used to keep the door closed and then the door would not unlock. We had to call out to our friends in the morning to try from the other side and only by both sides being turned would it unlock. Although we could use the outside door, this was very poor and a potential risk if there was a fire.
- Keith (1/5): Bad - Nothing Unable to find the venue, tried to call several times, on 2 different "emergency" phone numbers, no answer. Had to stay somewhere else.
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Annette (8/5): Very good - Big house and garden. Good beds. Very good location. Breakfast included but no bread, milk or yoghurt.
If you don’t rent to multiple people: why the signs in the house about ‘shared space’ and the different shelfs in the fridge?
We tooked the whole cottage because we didn’t want to share but apparently we could have done with 1 bedroom. Text on booking is not very clear.
If you don’t have chickens anymore why say so in the the description, welcome leaflet and leave the (empty) eggbox on the kitchen counter?
This house and garden need some cleaning up, clearing out, maintenance and TLC. Which is a shame because it’s a lovely place and a top location.
- Ian (2/5): A very poor choice for an overnight stay in Jarrahdale. People, go somewhere else. - Nothing...the shower was ok. Firstly, trying to find the property was almost impossible - we finally found George St, but as there was no sign of the cottage we asked some people, who didn't know, and then simply went in to some of the houses until I found the lock boxes with the key inside. There was no sign on the fence, and no number in the emails I got. We pulled the car into the drive, alongside a large pile of rubbish strewn across the entrance near full rubbish bins. Then we went inside, and nearly came right back out...there was accumulated dirt in all the kitchen drawers, dirt down the sides of the beds, dirty laundry hanging on the back of a bedroom door, and drying sheets across the view from the kitchen window. The BBQ was indescribable - it hadn't been cleaned for a long time. A previous reviewer complained about the broken trampoline and back door lock about 10 months ago - they are still broken. There was no sign of any chooks or eggs. The whole place is dreadfully run-down and unkempt, and we have a number of photos to prove it. I don't understand why Booking.com still has this place on offer.
- Gary (10/5): Hidden Gem - A lovely little place in a beautiful location, very comfortable and affordable. Perfect for what I needed, a good rest after a hot humid travel in the caravan during a heat wave. I was able to park the van out the front with plenty more parking room if needed. Very cute, I'll definitely be staying again.
- Lisa (3/5): Very unhappy with this property - Inside was tidy Outside the house, front and back, looked very unappealing. Rubbish was spread all over the front yard from the bin, including dirty nappies. The place was overgrown with weeds and very uncared for. There were cobwebs and spiders inside and outside that had been there for quite some time. No chooks as advertised. Lots of maintenance needed inside and out, although numerous people had already stated this previously, still nothing had been tended to.
The outside bbq was unusable, and most coffee cups and plates inside were filthy.
The back door wouldn't lock, making it feel unsafe.
Very unimpressed overall, and for the price per night, it was unacceptable. Especially in comparison to other places we have stayed for far less. Would not recommend it!
- Rayson (8/5): Cosy little country cottage. - A lovely little home, had everything we needed for our stay. Bed was so comfy.. house was very clean and tidy.
- Haylee (6/5): Amazing inside for photos for our getting ready for the wedding at Millbrook Winery - I like all the rooms with the amount of space and just something different and cosy with the furniture style. I was a bit disappointed that we had to get our own toilet paper, wasn’t any in the spare cupboard. Nor was there anything in the first Aid kit.
The outside & front could have done with a bit of maintenance & there was definitely no chickens which the kids were looking forward to it.
- Andrea (8/5): Clean, tidy house close to wedding venue. - Cottage was conveniently located about 12mins from wedding venue so made it easy to go between house and venue. Place was very clean beds were comfortable. There is a little bit of maintenance that needs to be done at the property. Fan/ light combo in bedroom needs to be looked and well as toilet wall and tiles. Also a Tv would have been good.
- Shirley (8/5): Very good -
- Almira (4/5): Disappointing -
- Maria (3/5): Bed was acceptable. Everything else inside and outside was below standard in cleanliness and neglect - Location was good. Breakfast cereal provided with powdered milk. Not used The cottage needs a lot of attention. The renting out of separate rooms a problem as it requires a sharing of one bathroom. Bathroom showe has very unhygienic wooden slats an cannot been cleaned. Toilet had 2 large holes in the wall.
- Coilin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tahlia (7/5): Good -
- Anna (10/5): Warm cottage perfect for the rejuvenating the weary traveller. -
- Craig (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect for group of Munda Biddi riders 👌
- Dominic (5/5): Passable - Location House was still being cleaned after check-in time.
Very poor lighting in hose, blown globes in rooms.
Numerous spiders in bedrooms
- Brian (5/5): Passable - Location Said breakfast was included but very little was available
- Lucas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ian (5/5): Passable - Easy access. Run down, gloomy atmosphere.
- Cindy (8/5): Family time - I liked that I could spend a few nights here and have the kids disconnect for a bit as it's something they need from time to time.
- Robin (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Max (8/5): Very good -
- Rodney (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cijo (5/5): Passable -
- Cijo (2/5): Very poor -
- Bstubbs (6/5): Pleasant - Spacious. No milk provided for breakfast, not much point in having cereals if not able to eat them with anything. As a solo traveller would have been nice to know whether the other rooms would be occupied by others
- Jason (10/5): Exceptional - Very homely and comfortable
- James (5/5): Passable - There was no breakfast. Couldn't have cereal as there was no milk provided. Nor eggs or bread
- Mark (4/5): Disappointing and a bit overpriced as a result. - Breakfast was weird = some preserves and catering spread but no bread; choice of cereal but no milk; complete lack of any yoghurt or fruit despite claim of "continental breakfast" being provided. Lack of tv, lack of complete breakfast and general condition of property meant that I do not believe that it represents value for money. Even with those issues addressed I believe that the cost for a couple in this location is high. Websites for other local accommodation managed by this host say that she is a local of many years, so its strange that the provisions for a continental breakfast are not provided!?
- Udara (8/5): Very good - Good communication and appreciated the welcome text details.
Location is very good for our requirements.
House was very clean and well furnished.
The beverage selection was good (water jug in the fridge was appreciated) I would not advertise as continental breakfast with no perishable provided (milk, bread etc)
Only 3/4 rooms were available (not required for us but would have been good to know)
Cosmetic maintenace issues took away from the experience
- Duncan (5/5): Adequate and roomy - Continental breakfast was supposed to be provided, and there certainly was a lot of packaged cereal available, but no bread for toast and no milk for cereals. Fridge was dirty. Light switches didnt all work. Fan switch didnt work - meaning the ceiling fan was on all the time even on a cool night.
- Louise (9/5): Superb -
- Verity (4/5): Disappointing - Location Back door won’t lock. Didn’t feel secure. No chickens as advertised. Fridge not clean.
- Belinda (8/5): Close to motocross - Convenient location
Accommodation had a variety of bedding arrangements
Communication with hosts was excellent No television
- Sarah (1/5): Travel from Victoria expect better accommodation for the fee not happy - Very poor ?how long have they been in the draw or last Where the milk sugar coffee/tea on arrival light in the door on house was dark and uninviting no advertising out side the house for new visitors poor lighting inside in inviting in side too.
- Nilantha (9/5): Really enjoyed - NO ANY BREAKFIRST
- Ian (7/5): Good - Liked the location for what I intended to do. Rubbish bins outside overflowing, on arrival.
Second bed not available, annd not informed prior.
- Sandra (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable and great location. Easy access and good communication with host. Unsure if other guests we're booked in to other rooms in the cottage.
- Ben (8/5): You can tell the owners are trying very hard to make this a comfortable and pleasant place to stay. - The property was very clean and well maintained. It is in a very quiet location. Despite some very hot weather I was able to cool down using the AC and fans. It had everything I needed and nothing I didn't 10/10.
- Ales (7/5): Good -
- Hunt (9/5): Superb -
- Dominic (7/5): Good -
- Mier (8/5): Very good - Very clean. Homely and comfortable in a great location. Not enough milk!! Bread should be provided.
- Cijo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joy (10/5): Lovely bedroom, home and garden with hosts who were responsive to our requests - Comfortable bedroom and kitchenette with access to a nice backyard and sitting area. We had the house to ourselves and appreciated access to the fully equipped kitchen. We enjoyed hearing the chickens and ducks, and even the very confident rooster. The living room area was comfortable and the property was very.convenient to the town. We appreciated the offer of fresh eggs and lemons, and enjoyed our conversation with Chris when he dropped by to bring us fresh bread for breakfast. This is a great place to stay if you are in Jarrahdale. Nothing.
- Steven (7/5): Good property - Was more than I needed for my overnight stay but pleasant nonetheless Maintenance - kitchen light not working and toilet constantly running and flushing
- Karyn (8/5): Cute little place - Quaintness
- Ian (10/5): the kid loved the chooks - grate the fact that we took it with us to eat on the way
- Justin (10/5): Perfect overnighter for cyclists, would be good for a longer stay in the area too. - Comfortable for an overnight stay whilst riding the Munda Biddi, and a good selection of cereals for breakfast. The rooster wakes up early!
- Phil (8/5): Comfy accommodation with extremely good value for money. - Value for money - we brought our own brekkie food & drink, but there was plenty of condiments, milk, tea coffee etc available. The house was perfect for our family of 8, for an overnight stay following a wedding event. Nothing - Everything was what we expected. I liased with Anzie a few times in the lead up to the event as we couldn't believe the price - it worked our extremely well for all of us.
- Mark (9/5): perfect - Bonus breakfast facilities
right on the MB trail
close to cafe
- Anonymous (6/5): Pleasant -
- Cormac (8/5): Very good -
- Thilini (7/5): great value for money - breakfast included bread, hams in the fridge, jam, butter etc, and 5-6 selections of cereal. Kitchen facilities were good with appliances to cook anything. The chickens and the ducks in the back pen were great for the kids. Nice location. The house is a bit old.
If you don't book the whole house with four bedrooms and if it is just the family unit , you have to share the kitchen and the living with others
- Darcy (7/5): a great little family getaway. - large house, lots of space, small varandah which was needed when packing car due to rain.
facilities great with gas stove.
our kids loved the chickens/ducks
cereal, bread, butter and ham provided for breakfast unfortunetly the milk was 11 days out of date.
a bit of dirt dust around the place especially ontop of fridge.
- Kim (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (7/5): It was a good place to stay, close to town and local facilities. Suited our purpose perfectly. - Great place to stay when cycling the Munda Biddi trail as is passed right by the front door. The shared bathroom concept but that is clearly explained when booking so we did know in advance.
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Heidi (9/5): Nice quiet spot for family - Lots of room and good breakfast. Quiet location. Comfy beds
- Anonymous (4/5): Disappointing - Good location, nice feel The property is overpriced for what we got. Firstly, there is no TV. When asked to give feedback so owners can improve facilities etc they don’t seem to care about feedback. The owner said most feedback is no TV. The site does not state TV but one assumes there is a TV as it states wifi? It should state ‘No TV’. It is stated that laundry facilities are available, however these are locked and says ‘staff only’ on door. Breakfast IS included is false and misleading. There is no juice, milk states on nearly empty bottle that it has expired on June14 so too scared to even smell it. The meat as stated on site is in fridge, ham, stamped expired on 4th July. That cooked kill someone if consumed. We were going to wash our dishes but the sponges in cupboard and only ones found are gross. My friend smelled them are almost vomited. So we will not be washing the dishes as they are probably cleaner with food on them and I’d hate to think they would be washed with those and then placed in cupboard for next guest. Unhygienic and very unhealthy. Towels are so thin and bit of a smell when drying after shower, suggesting not washed, dried properly. I’m speaking truthfully and may seem harsh, however, we have paid good money and as I have stayed in other b&bs, I compared. I also used to clean air b&bs so I am well aware of what clients should expect and deserve. The owner sounded nice over the phone and the rooster is cool but for what we have paid - $380.00 for two nights, and the fact that breakfast is promised and is either lacking or meat expired and unhygienic practices, I do not recommend
- E (10/5): It was a lovely place. - It was a clean and comfortable place. We loved the place and will book it soon in the future and will recommend it to our friends and family.
Just a few concerns: there were plenty of chooks, rosters and docks, they were lovely but I was worried as some could get out of their place and I felt responsible to get them back and it wasn't easy at all. I was wondering about who is responsible for feeding them as well.
There were some small issues with toilet door handles, I sent some photos for the owner just in case she doesn't know.
- Mar (9/5): Great little getaway in jarrahdale - The rooms and beds were so cosy and comfortable. Super strong heater as well, which we were impressed by how hot it got! Kitchen is prone to getting ants so we had to stay vigilant leaving things on any counter space. The bbq outside is completely out of use, and a few things in the backyard could be made to better use but all in all, was amazing value for money, and we spend a great few days at this place.
- Angela (7/5): Good - The spaces were clean and well set out.
The location was perfect.
The cottage was cute. I thought that the continental breakfast (included in the price) would have included bread and butter for toasting.
There was a dog barking through the night, which kept me awake and then the rooster started around 5am - so I had very interrupted sleep. Not really controllable by the owner, but thought I'd mention it.
- Melissa (8/5): Very good -
- John (2/5): No tv or radio. - Nothing. Sitting area not comfortable.
- Sdw (9/5): Superb - Very accommodating hosts. A well presented country cottage.
- Amanda (7/5): Pleasant - Location. Size of the house. The kitchen is well equipped and well provisioned The lighting is poor, and in the dark it is exceedingly difficult to find the property. there is no external lighting.
There is also no TV
- Josh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jonathan (7/5): Good - Excellent selection of tea, coffee and cereals No tv
- Kellie (9/5): Lovely cottage with all the facilities - Lovely cottage that is well equipped and in a great location if you are exploring the Jarrahdale area or looking for a country getaway. The included breakfast was great and the kids loved getting out checking for eggs and meeting the chickens, ducks and rooster.
Communication from the owners was easy and timely and overall a lovely stay. Will definitely book again when next up that way. Not to complain but the heating wasn't the best but you do have to sort of expect that with older style buildings.
- Anonymous (10/5): beautiful property and lovely house. will stay again asap - everything, especially the chickens.
- Sherilyn (10/5): great spot - well set up - great location & perfect for our overnighter while cycling the Munda Biddi rooster woke us early in the morning 😊
- Trevor (8/5): Country comfort. - Comfy and great location. No Television. But did have free WiFi.
- Michael (9/5): Functional and complete. - location and availability in Jarrahdale Local animals were a bit noisy at times, but quiet at night... Dogs next door.
- Lars (10/5): Very nice location in beautiful Jarrahdale, and the accommodation fulfilled all our needs. - Continental breakfast was included and this was a bonus. The family room was really nice and spacious. The kitchen was very well equipped. It was a very cool night and this reflected on the indoor climate. But mainly because we didn't check out the full potential of heaters and the AC.
- Hinno (1/5): Bad -
- James (7/5): Good -
- Patricia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Taylor (8/5): Perfect country stay - Centrally located for the wedding we attended.
- Walter (8/5): Compftable and quiet. Love the location. - Perfect, right on Munda Biddi bike trail. Bathroom towel rail would be good addition.
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional - The owner was fantastic and helped us with food as we arrived late and nothing open. thank you
- Mike (6/5): meh, fix the above and I will be back. - great bed, clean linen.
the chickens.
offer of lemons and eggs. no TV
hot water tap in ensuite dripped all night.
only one black tea bag…
