• Phelps (10/5): Perfect comfy getaway for the Elan Valley - Dick was very welcoming with no fuss, room lovely with a great view, nice and quiet, smart TV, clean, comfy, near to main street of Rhayader with plenty of choice to eat out. Particularly liked that you had the option of bringing hot food back to B&B , eating in the dining room using crockery/ cutlery with no drama if you didnt want to eat out . Would definitely return . Breakfast was delish, Nothing, everything was great

The breakfast was a real standout with a superb made to order cooked breakfast with the best poached eggs I have had in years.

Best coffee and breakfast I’ve ever had travelling!!! Really set me up for the day conquering a 6 hour hike visiting the Elan Valley! Full house of guests our second night and it was still so quiet and friendly in passing. Great value for money including breakfast. Thank you for adding luxury and comfort for our travels!

• Susan (10/5): A little bit of heaven - Richard the host was very welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. The room was lovely and warm and clean, And everything you needed was there. There was cereal, yoghurts, juice, tea and coffee and a cooked breafast whicht was big and cooked beautifully, I've didn't realised before we went that Richard was a winner from the program '4 in a bed' TV program. And all I can say, he well worth it! The location is a short walk to the town. We will definitely be going back. A slight decline/incline walking down from the property to the main street to town., but also, that we couldn't stay longer.

• Helena (9/5): Great, comfortable, nicely set up accommodation. - The guest house is in a quiet residential area and only a short walk to the town. The bedroom was nice and large and very comfortable. Breakfast was great too. We liked the way everyone was sat around one large table, so it was very easy to chat to other guests. It was handy having somewhere secure for the mountain bikes, and when we return on motorbikes, there is undercover parking for them too. A really good set up. Thank you Nothing really, we only stayed for one night but it was lovely.

• Sue (10/5): Outstanding, would highly recommend. - Convenient location for me, in the heart of Mid Wales. Lovely view across the valley from my room. Nice welcome from host Dick. My room was outstanding, immaculate, comfortable with superb en-suite. The room looked out onto the road where I was able to park right outside the guest house, minimal road noise overnight in spite of having the window open. Heating I could control, I turned it right down for the night but the room warmed up quickly when I turned it back up in the morning. Fantastic cooked breakfast which set me up for my journey home. I would highly recommend Bryn Derwen for a single night or a longer stay to enjoy Mid Wales. Nothing I didn't like about this stay. For travellers with any mobility issues, there are a few steep steps up from the road to a tarmacked path that leads to the entrance.

We sadly had to cut our stay short for family emergency but we would certainly go back in the Summer. Great spot to explore Elan Valley and we were lucky enough to see snow during our hikes. Despite the cold weather our room was super cosy and warm and to wake up to an amazing breakfast before setting off was fantastic. N/A

The owner was friendly and made a delicious breakfast. Parking was easy and a short distance into the centre. Perfect stay for our star gazing adventure in Elan Valley. That we couldn’t stay longer

Location perfect as its away from the centre so very quiet and peaceful. On Street parking excellent. A wide road with plenty of space. The heating appeared to go off at 9.00pm so felt a little chilly in the room. Also the host didn't tend our room during our two night stay and nothing was replenished (box of tissues finished).

I liked that we were able to lock our bikes in a cycle shed overnight. Also, there was no alarm shown when we turned up in a muddy state. Excellent breakfast.

Felt disapproved of because we were unable to give an arrival time the morning of the day before we were staying. I said an approximate time, and only confirmed the time, on the early afternoon we were arriving, also said the day before that we could happily work round any times that might be inconvenient. However we were greeted with a somewhat sarcastic comment, we felt . That's how we travel, we are spontaneous. Apart from that however, a great place to stay.
