Guest Reviews
- Alison (8/5): - More a B&B than a hotel and the restaurant advertised on their website is no longer available for dinner. No hot water in the bathroom sink but shower was hot. Breakfast okay but no vegetarian dishes on offer.
- Hilary (10/5): - Beautiful views from the breakfast room and fantastic kind service thank you.
- Judith (10/5): - What a delightful experience. Easy walk from the ferry. Right across from the water. Beautiful view. The breakfast was amazing. My husband had kippers for the first time since emigrating from the UK. The room was clean and the bathroom updated. The staff was helpful and friendly. I would recommend and stay again!
- John (10/5): - Charming host, great location and excellent breakfast.
- Jill (10/5): - A beautiful b&b situated on the waterfront. Rooms were well appointed and the breakfast was first class. A lovely experience.

- Alan (10/5): Brodick crazy golf. - Great down to earth hosts. Comfy clean room, excellent breakfast, friendly reception and short stay in everyway.
No bells and whistles just excellent service.
- Katie (10/5): Immaculate wee B&B - Beautiful B&B, with comfy bed, excellent pillows, absolutely excellent breakfast and lovely hosting. The whole place is immaculate.
We stayed for our first night on the Isle before heading off on the coastal way. It's a short walk from the ferry terminal and has a lovely view over the water. It was the perfect way to spend our first night and rest up / get fuelled up!
- NEIL (10/5): Warm welcome. - Me and the wife got a warm welcome from Helen when we arrived at her excellent guest house. The room was lovely and clean and had everything you need. We had a great Scottish breakfast but a continental breakfast was also available. Owner Helen could not have been more helpful, would definitely recommend and be happy to go back.
- Robyn (10/5): - Loved the host. Comfortable bed. Central location. Quaint lounge. Great breakfast
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location and rooms had everything we needed. To be aware - cash only and WiFi doesn’t work.
- Richard (10/5): - Lovely comfortably house with
welcome to match. Many thanks
- Orla (10/5): - A very convenient location on the seafront and absolutely lovely warm host Helen and a freshly cooked breakfast with a good choice. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. Thank you.
- Gregory (10/5): - Charming spot with fantastic view just minutes from ferry and local shops. Helen was delightful. Only stayed one night but goid location on Arran.
- Edward (10/5): - The property is in a great location. Right in the centre of Brodick and just a stones throw from the sea. Many of the rooms have sea views. The room was clean and of a very good standard. The lines and dining area but also excellent and our rooms were were en suite. The cooked Scottish breakfast was excellent although other choices were available as well as cereals and fruit juice. There’s a bank right next door, 2 coops close by and the fallen goat pub five minutes walk away was also very nice. There was plenty of parking but you could walk here from the ferry terminal and there were many buses so you don’t really need a car.Helen was an excellent host. She couldn’t do enough for us and was very friendly and professional in all of her correspondence as well. I would definitely stay here again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
- Heather (10/5): - Great breakfast, clean, comfortable rooms and lovely location.
- Reanne (10/5): - Very warm and helpful host. Comfy clean room. Beautiful sea view.
- Alan (10/5): - Brilliany. Loveley breakfast
- Matthew (10/5): - Very nice B&B, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others
- John (8/5): A simple, traditional, and satisfactory B&B - The property is ideally located in the centre of Brodick Bay, and hence is easily accessible from the Brodick Ferry, (when it runs!)
It is a traditional B&B, and hence is simple, but satisfactory.
It is very reasonably priced, and the breakfast fare was fine.
Dunvegan facilitates a place to sleep and a place to have breakfast and thus satisfies the needs of most travellers.
- Bryan (6/5): Good but not 4 star - A good comfortable guest house with a good breakfast.
Not a 4 star, with tired finish and chintsy decor
- Michael (8/5): - Very nice ambience at the property, staff very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was delicious.
- Christina (6/5): - It was extremely cold and the bed was quite uncomfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A lovely overnight stay in a very comfortable room with a stunning view across the bay. Enjoyed a very tasty breakfast with very good choices in the morning. The property is in a great location for ferry passengers arriving on foot, being close to the ferry with great seafront paths and pavements to walk along.
- Martin (10/5): - Absolutely amazing stay here, lovely choice of breakfast after a restful sleep. Wonderful friendly staff. Highly recommended.
- Anne (8/5): Dunvegan House Guest House - The owner was friendly and helpful. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was wonderful. Would go back again.
- Mary (10/5): Lovely b&b - Great wee b&b ,lovely stay ,rooms clean and bed comfy, breakfast lovely, with a great hostess.
- Lesley (8/5): - Dunvegan was a friendly place to stay and the location is excellent. Very handy for getting around as the bus stop is right outside the house.
The owners were very welcoming and breakfast was lovely.
Our room was very clean, the beds were comfortable. There were lots of drawers and wardrobe space for clothes.
The only negative thing to say is that the soundproofing between rooms was poor.
We would not hesitate to stay in Dunvegan Gust House again.
- John (10/5): - Wonderful breakfast with excellent service. Would definitely stay again
- Cathi (10/5): - We did not want for anything on our stay here. The staff bent over backwards to make it a special one and the bacon at breakfast was the best of the whole trip! I cannot recommend it enough
- Gregory (8/5): - Could have used more outlets.
Had to pay with cash because card machine out of order.
Owner provided early breakfast so we could take first ferry back to troop.

- Emily (10/5): - I spent a really nice time in Dunvegan b&b.. very nice view on the sea and the isle of Arran is wonderful!
- bodean (10/5): - Stayed for three nights, perfect location close to Ferry and all walking routes. I didnt avail of breakfast due to attending a running event.
- Nancy (10/5): - Great location. Lovely staff. Everything we needed.
- Steve (10/5): A comfortable stay at Dunvegan House. - My wife & I had a loved time on Arran and we found Dunvegan House to be in an excellent location where everything that Brodick had to offer was within walking distance. The proprietor and staff were friendly and helpful. Our room, perhaps a little dated, was spotlessly clean, had TV, tea/coffee making facilities and a fabulous sea view. It was it was refreshed each day and was given fresh towels daily. We didn’t use the communal lounge, but it looked comfortable. Breakfast was very good. Personally, I would have liked to have seen black pudding and/or a haggis slice as part of the “Full Scottish Breakfast” but there was fruit, cereal and yoghurt’s available.
Due to very poor weather we could not get a ferry for our return home, so returned to Dunvegan House and and luckily was given our room back for an extra night. We did manage to get on a ferry the following day after a 03:30 rise and a 14 mile drive to Lochranza to ensure a space on the first crossing to Claonaig which was scheduled to leave at 08:15 but again, due to weather conditions, eventually left at around 11:15
- Nancy (10/5): - Helen was so wonderful.
- Brian (10/5): - Wonderful stay, perfect place. Among the very nicest we’ve seen. Dining nearby limited
- John (10/5): - Good location good sized room Kippers from Loch Fyne to die for for breakfast!
- Ian (10/5): Wonderful overnight stay - We had a wonderful sea view room, even though our booking via hotels.com had not gone through to the B&B for some reason. Book direct would be safer. Lovely setting in a fantastic location and lovely breakfast. We even got a discount because of some rowdy guys in the room next door that we believe caused the fire alarm to be set off at 01:30. It was not an issue really and certainly not the owners fault so a refund was not really warranted but Helen insisted.
- Jerry (10/5): - Lovely inn and great breakfast. Very accommodating and helpful innkeepers. Would definitely return.
- Margaret (10/5): - Excellent facilities , great breakfast , enjoyed stay
- David (10/5): - Fantastic, cosy and very welcoming. Food was amazing.
- Alastair (10/5): - Nice place, good location, good breakfast.
- Siobhan (10/5): - This was the ideal base for our holiday to Arran - we couldn’t have had a nicer welcome or been looked after better. The room was super comfortable with everything we could need, and breakfast each morning was incredible. Highly recommend!
- Anne (10/5): - Lovely friendly proprietor and delicious breakfast.
- Leslie (8/5): Good stay - Good stay - great location. Friendly and helpful reception

- Lisa (10/5): Excellent - From start to finish the stay was amazing staff always on hand and breakfast was outstanding
- James (10/5): - Lovey room. Delicious breakfast. Kind and attentive host. The view from the room and breakfast area were amazing.
- Lauren (10/5): Can't recommend enough! - The most beautiful Guest House in such a perfect location! The views are outstanding and it's a few minutes walk to a bar, cafe, ATM and shop! Helen the owner who greeted us was so lovely and welcoming, we booked last minute due to ferry cancellations and Helen accommodated us last minute. We had the best cooked breakfast in the morning! Highly recommend.
- Patricia R (8/5): - Hospitality and view was awesome. Brodick Castle across the bay was the view from our window. Breakfast was very nice with a variety to choose from.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Ideal - Excellent accommodation, homely, very comfortable rooms. Lovely setting. Welcoming and would def go back.
- sharon (10/5): Perfect B&B in Brodick, superb host - Helen was a superb host. We were in Brodick for a run race and she was flexible with our breakfast arrangements, even washed the run gear for us. Breakfast was plentiful and cooked perfectly. Location and view from here across the bay is magical. Never seen so many rainbows! Thanks Helen for making our holiday a memorable one.
- ELAINE (10/5): - Just back after an excellent stay at this guess house. Our twin room was really nice and spacious. Breakfast was first class and best of all the owner was so welcoming and extremely accomodating. All this and a very reasonable price (for a B and B right on the sea front) definitely warrants a return visit. Roll on next spring.
- Verified traveler (8/5): In need of work - Plus points: amazing breakfast with delicious free range local eggs; amazing view; room had everything you need - hairdryer, toiletries, tv, coat hangers, storage space.
Negatives: place is in need of modernisation- fittings and furnishings; our bed was extremely hard, which sadly made for a poor nights sleep; the house had a bit of a stale odour - not sure what; windows are old and not good at keeping out the noise of traffic; shower cubicle in need of a deep clean. Overall it was good, but I would hesitate to return given the price we paid.
- Keith (10/5): - Great location. Friendly staff. Cleanliness was good. Food was good.
- Sean (10/5): Dunvegan House. - An excellent place to stay, close to the ferry, views from the breakfast table were breathtaking. Breakfast very nice( do try the Loch Fyne kippers) Made to feel very welcome by the staff, we would highly recommend Dunvegan House.
- David (10/5): - It was dated but very clean, food was really tasty, the view was good location ideal would recommend to family and friends.

- Laura (10/5): Exceptional - We had just a lovely stay at the Dunvegan House. We will definitely stay here again if we come back to Arran.
- Brenda (10/5): - Only stayed for on night and it was lovely, comfortable and breakfast was delicious. The host was very accommodating and nice. I would stay there again if i go back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A lovely B&B with a warm host. Rooms were comfortable and breakfast was great. A good base for exploring Arran.
- Catherine (8/5): Sea view - Really enjoyed our stay, very very clean Helen was very friendly, breakfast was lovely would stay again.
- Chetan (10/5): Compassion & Understanding - We had a most wonderful stay at the Dunvegan Guest House (which by all accounts is an institution on Arran Island). The manager was understanding and pragmatic when our ferry was cancelled due to Covid-19 disruption. She catered for the entire family and helped us with recommendations for a tyre repair shop when we developed a flat tyre! All in all, went far and beyond the call of duty. We're forever grateful. Best wishes and gratitude from us all.
- Frances (10/5): - Amazing B&B, very friendly and helpful
- Verified traveler (10/5): - welcoming staff, very tidy place. Large breakfast
- Verified traveler (10/5): Happy Holiday - Bang in the middle of Brodick, housekeeping every day perfectly spotless, breakfast amazing, perfect host nothing too much trouble. Would go back any day for a great wee break. Two mins from ferry, perfect.
- Suzanne (10/5): Great stay - Had a very nice stay, lovely welcoming environment.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - very friendly, easy access from ferry, breakfast was very selective and tasty
- Mrs (10/5): - Mrs mcAdam was lovely & very welcoming!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely welcome and the owner, Helen (I think that was her name...sorry!!) Was very friendly. Nothing was too much bother.
The breakfast was hearty and well cooked without leaving you too stuffed to move. Good choice of fruit and well as yogurts and cereal in addition to the full Scottish breakfast....although no black pudding or beans.
We had room 2 for 5 nights and it had a smashing view of Brodick Bay, Goat Fell and Brodick Castle. Not the biggest room in the world, but the view more than made up for it.
Only big criticism would be that the rooms with sea views, are all facing East and the curtains are quite thin. As such (especially in Summer), we were woken up around 4am each day just due to light. Heavier sleepers may not have had an issues, but for us it made for some short night's sleep lol!
There's parking on site for approx 4 cars....maybe 5 if you do some nifty parking, but if you can't park on site, there is free parking just over the road. We used that one time and had no issues.
All in all a lovely place and would go back there when we go back to Arran
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property was brilliant, a bit old fashioned like going to granny's house, it was spotless the breakfast was brilliant, what a wonderful location looking out to the bay.
- Timothy (10/5): - Very nice stay, could come and go as we pleased. Would recommend
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This property is in a perfect location for anyone travelling on foot. Close to the ferry and great for exploring Brodick.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a lovely stay at Dunvegan, Helen could not have been more accommodating. The included breakfast was great and the coffee delicious. The b&b had a lovely homely feel to it, very cosy and in a perfect location. We had a lovely view of the sea and Goat Fell, fantastic stay, will definitely come again!
- Lillian (10/5): - A lovely stay with an excellent view
- MICHAEL (10/5): Lovely Stay post lockdown - Have stayed here in the past for golf weekends, so did not hesitate to stay here again while we cycled around Arran. Comfortable, good breakfast, and very relaxed atmosphere. Helen, as always was lovely and very accommodating with letting us drop our luggage early and leaving our luggage after check out also. Will definitely visit again.
- Jen (2/5): - Awful !!!! Firstly the strong musty smell when you walk in is terrible. The bed was the worst ever, we didn’t sleep a wink. Was like sleeping on hardboard. And it creaked ! Definitely needs to change mattress. Very dated rooms , really needs upgraded. We definitely won’t Be back. Worst B&B on our trip . Only positive is the lovely view
