Guest Reviews
- Martin (4/5): - I booked the Red room and in the photos it looked ok however having driven 200 miles to the location i found it to be very poor.
The tray on which complimentary tea and coffee are placed was filthy the kettle was dirty the skirting boards covered in dust the wood floor under the bed has a thick layer of dust. Tge curtains was hung in such a way the looked like they were thrown in place.
The bedding was not ironed and looked like it was from a previous booking.
The tables on which breakfast is served was bare wood which was covered in stains and grubby.
All in all a terrible experience...if it wasn't for the fact i had driven so far and not knowing the area was unsure where alternative b&bs were i would have walked out.
The milk for your tea was in a flask which smelt and the milt seperated once poured into the tea so i threw id down the loo and went outxand purchased tea bags sugar and fresh milk so i knew what i was drinking was ok.
I strongly recommend dont book here its not run well and i have taken pictures which i sent to the owners who have failed to reply.
It was £190 badly spent I should have booked a travel lodge.

- Margaret (10/5): An almost hidden delight! - A thoroughly enjoyable stay in this fine old converted barn. Apart from the handsome and well appointed interiors the extensive garden is a joy to behold. The hosts, Rupert and Camilla offered the warmest of welcomes during our brief sojourn - well above and beyond commercial niceties. We were made to feel so comfortable - honoured guests in their lovely home. Thank you.
- Sandra (10/5): Overnight stay - We stayed at Stoneleigh as it was close to the Sherborne Country Fair that is held in the grounds of Sherborne Castle and gardens that is a lovely place to visit, my Son was running the dragon boat event. Stoneleigh is a very comfortable stay, Rupert was very helpful in booking us a table at an Italian restaurant, we were offered tea on arrival, we had the red room that had a bath and walk in shower, breakfast was amazing and kept us going for the rest of the day. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again if in the area.
- Michael (10/5): - Wonderful room in an historic building.
Very helpful innkeeper.
Terrific full breakfast and welcome coffees
- Verified traveler (2/5): Disgusted and a great trip spoilt. - First impression was not good. Door frame and doorbell was dirty. Entrance porch was very untidy and the stair carpet was dirty. The impression on entering the room did not improve. We had to ask for the duvet cover and pillowcase to be changed as both had what looked like blood stains on them. The duvet cover was replaced with a dingy white unironed one. The pillows were old, lumpy and misshapen with no protectors on. The mattress was very thin and uncomfortable. The iron bedstead was thick with dust as were all the surfaces and skirting boards. There were crumbs all around the bed. We has to ask for a brush to sweep up. The bathroom smelt foisty.
Since the covid pandemic we always take antibacterial wipes to wipe down all surfaces. We had to use a pack of 40 wipes which were very dirty after wiping down. The base around the toilet had dust and hairs. The towels were dingy and hard. The only heating in the room was a plug in electric convector heater. The road was very noisy and would wake us up in the early hours and then the noise from mice scratching behind the skirting boards would make getting back to sleep impossible. We did not sample the breakfast as we were worried about the hygiene.
The reason we did not leave was we had had a seven hour journey and the following day we had bought rail tickets to meet friends. We arrived back late from our train journey which gave us no time to source more accommodation. Maybe we should have gone on to Hotels.com for guidance!!!
- Sevim (10/5): Fantastic - Great place and owner
- Kang Ho (10/5): Great stay! - Fabulous stay with a very comfortable room, great breakfast and great hosts Camilla, Rupert and Nutmeg the dog.
- David (10/5): - Wonderful
- Jennifer (10/5): - We recently enjoyed a stay at Stoneleigh Barn near Sherborne. The owner was most welcoming and thoughtful whilst not at all intrusive. Our accommodation was spacious and comfortable in the “Red Room”, and we appreciated the wonderful cooked breakfast in the light conservatory each morning. We would certainly stay again if we were in the area. Thankyou.
- David (10/5): Family mini break - Couldn't do enough for us. Very welcoming and made us feel right at home. Nice quiet venue with easy access to Sherborne and places of interest.
- Alan (10/5): Lovely Place To Stay - Amazing room to stay in. Spacious, clean and full of extras you wouldn't expect. Warm welcome by the host who were really friendly. Even phone the local pub to organise an evening meal for us. Highly recommended.
- Carole (10/5): Well worth a visit to stay here. - What a lovely friendly place this is with beautifully appointed rooms and generous facilities for guests to use, including a lovely garden and a friendly little dog called Nutmeg,
- James (10/5): A Hidden Gem - I don't normally write reviews but felt this place deserves a special mention. If you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing time, in a stunning house with amazing hosts, an incredible garden and a friendly dog (Nutmeg), this is the place for you.
Rupert and Camilla welcomed us with open arms, showed us to our room, which was pristine, and kindly booked us a table in a nearby Pub for dinner.
When we returned we were offered to sit on the extensive patio with a dedicated heater.
Breakfast was included. I don't normally make breakfast on a "day off" but felt duty bound to make the effort. I'm so glad I did. The breakfast was better than you would ever get from a chained hotel. Personal service with a high degree of care. It just felt that the hosts could not do enough for us.
We only stayed one night but the Boss (my Wife) has stated that this is now our new bolt hole and we will definitely be staying again.
Enjoy your stay, you will not be disappointed.
Muchas gracias to Rupert and Milla.
P.S. If you love a long deep soak in a bath tub you will not find one better.
- G S (10/5): A fabulous B&B - Camilla and Rupert are thoughtful and convivial hosts, aided and abetted by Harry and Nutmeg. House is charming and lovely to stay in. Super wetroom, fabulous breakfasts. Helpful suggestions for places to visit.

Lovely large room, very comfortable bed and huge bathroom. Hospitality tray, tv, wi-fi etc. Ample free parking on site.
Breakfast was very good and cooked to order; a bonus was that the breakfast room was overlooking their lovely garden, very tranquil.
Short drive to Sherborne where there are ample restaurants for an evening meal.

- Liz (10/5): - Lovely family property and gardens, our host Rupert was very attentive and knowledgable. Being a small family run B&B letting two separate deluxe rooms you were made to feel like friends rather than strangers. Breakfasts were delicious and plentiful, no need to preorder the night before just upon request once seated at the table.
The garden is so beautiful I wish our schedule hadn’t been so full during our stay so I could have enjoyed the tranquility more.
My family and I would love to stay again.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly and helpful hosts who shared their home but were not at all intrusive
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The owners were very friendly and helpful, but we found that the place was too near the main road for our liking with quite loud traffic noise.
- Andrea (10/5): Enjoyable stay with charming hosts. - A very pleasant stay in a comfortable family home, delightfully located and thoughtfully cared for by the owners. We were personally recommended a walk through fields to a local pub. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. We would be happy to return in the future.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - A very warm and pleasant welcome that lasted throughout our visit. Easy access to Sherborne, 5 minutes drive. Extremely comfortable accommodation in a quiet location. We both chose the FULL and well cooked English breakfast from a wide choice of options that kept us going well into the afternoon before we needed anything more. Thank you for helping to make our visit to Sherborne so enjoyable.
- Sonia (10/5): Delightful place to stay - We spent two nights at Stoneleigh Farm B&B and had a fantastic stay. The hosts are wonderful, so welcoming and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed on one of their deluxe rooms which was spacious and well appointed with reliable WiFi. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spotless. Loved the walk in shower and the slipper bath. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful- it really set us up for the day. All in all an extremely positive experience including meeting Nutmeg the dog and we can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend.
