- Paul (6/5): - To be clear: there are several different room types at this property and others may well justify its current 9.4 rating, however that's also shown specifically for the "Standard Queen Room" we had and it's hard to believe that's accurate. Firstly, it's small. Tiny - enough room for the double bed and a bench with a fridge under it and microwave, kettle and tea making facilities on top. Plus, two bedside tables and one case stand. There are no other horizontal surfaces so most of our stuff lived on the floor. The bathroom is similar with virtually no space to put clothes down. It's up a flight of stairs - mentioned in the advertising but quite steep. And here's a first in a lifetime of travels - no window! Do you filter for this on the booking sites? This really should be mentioned as it could be important to some. Enough criticism as there are many good points too. Best of all is the location, a few steps away from the middle of the main street. Hence all the shops and cafes are a short walk. German Inn right next door is good for a casual meal until late afternoon. The room was extremely clean with a wealth of toiletries and free bottles of water. The owner is extremely helpful, with plenty of sightseeing tips if you need them. Plus, our room was certainly at the cheap end of the range for Hahndorf. Consider paying more for a better room there. If you are not claustrophobic and will be out most of the time then this room might serve as a relatively inexpensive base.

- 74glendag (10/5): CLOSE TO THE HAHNDORF SHOPS AND RESTAURANTS - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - My husband and I stayed at the Stables Motel for Easter 2025. Our reasonably priced room was spacious and clean with a modern bathroom. There's plenty of storage space in the room and bathroom, which we appreciated. It was set out well with a table and chairs as well as an armchair and a huge, comfortable bed. The motel is in a quiet, central location, a 1 minute walk from the main street of Hahndorf. The hosts, Thomas & Donna, were friendly and helpful and Thomas gave us a personal tour of our room on arrival. Donna even remembered my name! Personal service that we found impressive! We would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!

- B4610RQcharlesk (4/5): Needs new air conditioning units . Very dated - The big problem with this establishment is the air conditioning . The aircon units are mounted on the external walls of each unit and are very loud, old and noisy. Consequently, we barely slept as the person in the adjoining apartment had their air conditioning on all night. We both slept with earplugs in!! My wife was also eaten by mosquitoes. The shower is superb, but as I said to the owner, we did not book the room for the shower. We will not be returning to this establishment .

- Trev (6/5): The upper room - I've given it plenty of thought before writing this. Here's the pros and cons. Pros: the location is handy for walking to most things, the staff are courteous, the shower has good pressure and the aircond works well enough on a 33c day, the room was in a quiet spot. Cons: While I don't mind small rooms, this one didn't even have a chair to sit and eat on, the small room and bathroom looked tired, parking's a challenge too. The bed is very hard which some may like but I couldn't sleep much at all. At $160 per night I was shocked when I usually stay up the road with undercover parking, huge quiet, modern room with lots to offer for the same or even less coin. I just can't reconcile this price on what I'd expect would suit a backpacker. I only have limited time to get away each year and I left after a two night sojourn, feeling in need of a rest. I try to support various businesses and if I had the money I would have said goodbye to my $320 and simply moved up the road to my usual place. I don't like to leave this type of review which is why I've given it a week before typing this and have omitted another negative regarding the property. I've travelled a lot and this one cannot be worth the $160 charge in my opinion.

We were very lucky as we got a room upgrade, we weren't expecting it, but it just goes to prove that being polite and understanding can play out nicely in your favour. Very happy to stay there again when in Hahndorf next!!!

The room next door ran their wall unit air con/ heater and it was rather noisy so our sleep wasn't too great.

Only difference was no stairs to negotiate. If a guest had pulled out that left the room available it's for the owners to wear that. $100 difference was blatantly nonsense. This was on reflection a croc.

- gabrielef527 (10/5): Excellent location and service - Very generous sized room though I did think the lay out was odd as the small TV was tucked up next to bunk beds and other than the dining space only one arm chair so nowhere really to sit and watch telly. Having a family room the master was separate. It had a comfy bed but I think this space would be better suited to the bunk so if you have children you can pop them to bed and not have to retire when they do given the bathroom was off the main space as was the kitchen space. Having said that it was clean well appointed and couldn't be located any better. Special mention to the manager the lovely Donna who couldn't have been more helpful or done more to ensure we had what we needed, service second to none.
