• Michael (10/5): - Our stay was really great. The room was larger than expected and the bathroom was very nice and recently updated. The only let down was the buck and ear pub on the main floor was closed indefinitely. Aside from that it was great. Great location and great people.

• James (8/5): - The hotel is a bare bones place. Not fancy and showing its age. It is clean and the area is quiet. It is much cheaper than most Richmond accommodations. If there's one complaint it's that the room didn't have a fridge or microwave. I didn't check and that’s on me. The bar/restaurant is closed permanently. I don't know if something else will replace it. There is a cafe for breakfast but I didn't eat there. Steveston village is very nice. There's lots of places to walk around and eat during the day. If you want to go to the main part of Richmond I recommend using public transit as driving around Richmond is an exercise in extreme patience. There are buses within a short walk of the hotel. Overall I think this is a nice place for basic lodging. I'd stay here again if needing a place in Richmond.
• Octavia (10/5): - We stay at the Steveston Hotel everytime we visit. The staff is incredibly helpful. The rooms are getting somecwear and tear, and it would be great to see some updating. For example, the bed is a bit lumpy, the pillows are too soft, the miniblinds are broken, removed and never replaced, the curtains are from the 1980s. Parking is free and plentiful, but I was sad to see the Ear and Buck permanently closed.
• Chris (8/5): - The hotel was well situated on the quiet side of town. Very walkable to many great eats. Parking was great. It's a shame that the pub is closed downstairs.
• Ian (4/5): - This “historic” hotel had a steep staircase leading to a small room with a view of the rooftop. I had a poor sleep due to sagging mattress. However, the staff were able and provided assistance with the wifi and the neighbour was very pleasant to explore.

This time brought friends to stay, they had no hot water, and our room was terrible. No upkeep to say the least, broken closet door, no fridge, dry wall dust coming out of peeling paint, missing counter top laminate, towel rack falling out of wall, etc.

Location is amazing. Happy with the town and hotel was sadly, just ok. I wanted to like it more. I may be back but stay in a room facing the cannery.

I left a gold small diamond ring on the bathroom in room #16. I left it beside the dish soap. I’m % I left it there. At 07:00 am. I got to my destination at10:30 am. When my daughter called around 11:42am ., they told her they found nothing. ,My daughter was willing to pick it up. It was a special ring. But went missing. So disappointed that forgotten items are no to be returned. Can’t trust at all this place.
• Dawn (8/5): Great experience with the staff. - Excellent customer service. The room is big and the bed is comfy. It smells unfortunately musty. The shower has a nasty leak and soaked the bathroom. I would still stay here again. Close to the ocean. The staff is accommodating and kind.
• Kerstin (2/5): - We booked for an extra guest fee and as we got to the hotel they denied that the amount of people we had was a fire hazard to the room even though it stated it was for 5 people. The staff were rude and continued to charge us extra fees later on saying they would refund but did not. We had no choice but to get another room except they gave us a rate that was unacceptable. My kids had to find another hotel an hour away late at night. We flew to Vancouver as a family and didn’t know our way around. We felt very disappointed and disrespected in our stay. Rude staff members. Please do not stay here.

You can hear everyone else opening and closing their doors. I got a parking ticket the first day I was there, even though I registered my vehicle with the hotel. The paint was peeling in the bathroom.
• Carolyn (8/5): - We really enjoyed our stay in this old hotel that has an interesting character! There is no "Buck and Ear" lounge, however. It is permanently closed. There is a cafe right beside the "lobby". The lobby is a wee hallway with vending machines and the stairs to the rooms. There front desk is a window and the liquour store is the other side of the window! You even have a direct line, in your room, to the liquour store! Too cute. Clean, not so quiet, but that was okay. On a busy corner for a small town in the height of tourist season. Next to all you want to see for an historic fishing village.

Emailed the property using the email address on their website two days before, no response. Sign at the door said front desk open until 11pm. Got to the property at 11:06pm. No phone number on the door to call, no help whatsoever from hotels.ca. had to book something in Richmond last minute at ridiculously high rates. Extremely angry.

• Lea-Arin (8/5): - Our stay at the Steveston Hotel was very comfortable, with everything we could ask for provided. While there was no ice machine, we were encouraged by a member of housekeeping to ask for ice at the attached liquor store, where ice was given happily. The TV was also out-of-date and low-resolution. As other reviews indicate, the facilities are somewhat vintage and worn but the comfort and security provided was outstanding. One must understand that this is an historic building which comes with its own limitations. We stayed in the jacuzzi room for a bit of extra luxury; it was roomy and comfortable. Those booking should be aware that there is a full flight of stairs and no elevator due to the hotel's heritage status. We had breakfast at the café, which was lovely, as well. The ambience of the historic fishing village surrounding the hotel is unmatched. I would recommend a stay here.

The proximity to the wharf, many “Storybrook” locations, and Garry Point Park, where you can watch a beautiful sunset, was excellent. Unfortunately, the restaurant downstairs was closed and because of some miscommunication, there was some demolition happening at 1:30 am. That may have been why there was no hot water in the morning as well. However, in the morning the staff was very sympathetic and responsive to the problem, and I don’t imagine it would happen again.

• Ann (2/5): - As soon as we walked in, we smelled mold. There was water damage on the bathroom ceiling and walls which explained the mold. (I got sick). There is no elevator and only one set of steep stairs. The front desk is also the cashier desk for a liquor store! Additionally, there was no safety lock on our main door; there was no ice bucket or ice available; the bathroom door had a lock on it (activated by a tiny button) and we were locked out of our bathroom during the night. They said this is a common problem !There was no one working during the night at the front desk to help us with our bathroom door or anything else! To top it off, there was no hot water to take a shower. No one will respond to our complaints. The parking lot you have to use is scary and creepy. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

• Ina (4/5): - After we checked in we mentioned that our suite wasn’t clean. Everything was arranged, beds, towels etc. but it was dirty. On the bed we found a lot of hair, which wasn’t ours. Then the toilet was dirty, it was seen clearly that nobody cleaned it before we came in. I asked the Consierj to change our suite, and explained the situation. We got another room without any issues. But the hotel still doesn’t look and feel as you see it in the pictures. It’s an old building which has smell. As a pregnant woman in my first trimester, I couldn’t sleep the entire night because of the smell, as I am really sensitive on smells now. After the first suite with the hair on the bed, I couldn’t relax in the one I moved on. Because I wasn’t sure if this suite was cleaned or not. So it wasn’t the best experience honestly.

• Mohammad (8/5): - The hotel is in a nice enough area (old Stevenson town) and there are a bunch of small businesses so its kinda cozy and nice. I was in the jacuzzi room which has a slight moldy smell to it so the AC had to be run pretty much 24/7. The room also a quite a bit of water damage all around on every wall. Overall, the room would HUGLY benefit from a repainting or new wallpaper.
• David (8/5): - They should change the name - there is no longer a cafe on the premises. Also the bar has been closed, so it's a liquor store and hotel. For older people, there is no elevator, just one run of quite steep stairs. Had I known these three things, I would have booked elsewhere.

• Kelcey (6/5): - The place was quite clean and comfortable. But we didn’t have the unwanted guest of a mouse! When we told the cleaning lady she said she wasn’t surprised. So that wasn’t very comforting. And if you are going to stay there be aware of the stairs. They are very steep. It was ok for one night but wouldn’t want to be there multiple!!
• GUANG (10/5): - The 2 connected rooms together with multiple beds can fit a family stay easily. It’s an old building and recently renovated I believe. The rate for the stay was less expensive comparing to the other options in Richmond. After parking during the night time, we spotted a tiny mouse through the glass entrance doors of the cafeteria. It was moving around under the table before we checked in at the hotel next door, which made me worried about the breakfast and foods safety there. I think the property management could use mice traps to catch the mice to keep the foods safe for the customers.
• Shiela (10/5): - I love this hotel! It was walking distance to the pier and restaurants. Very clean and quiet. My flight had me arrive early so I went by to see if there was a chance for an early check in. There was not but they offered to store my luggage so I could explore! This was priceless. The restaurant attached had great breakfast. I will definitely stay again! The only thing I would advise for older people, there are stairs and no elevators. Just one flight of stairs so not too bad. I have a double knee replacement so it was a little tough but doable. So if you have mobility issues, keep this in mind.

• Barbara (4/5): - The property was in a sketchy dirty area. It is connected to a liquor store and there is a bar beside that. No elevator - just stairs to get to rooms. Door had knob lock but nothing for added protection. Very dated small and crowded room. Beds and bathroom were clean. Staff were pleasant.

• Thomas (2/5): - I made a booking a week in advance and needed to let the front desk know that we would be arriving late, 1:30am(per thier request) but after sending emails and leaving voicemails I did not get a relpy so booke at another hotel to save the trouble of potentially getting there and not being able to check in
• Elaine (10/5): - It was very quiet. Wonderful cafe next door. Walking distance 2 blocks to the sea side pier. Would stay again.
• Carl (10/5): No elevator - It really deserves a 4.5. The location and room was fantastic. The only real downside is there is no elevator. I’ll blame that lack of knowledge Hotels.com. If you don’t have a lot of luggage and can handle the stairs, the location is outstanding. Easy walk to the fisherman’s wharf with lots of restaurants and a grocery store across the street.

• Herman (4/5): - The hotel has a good location near the wharf. It is an old hotel in a slightly rough area as we were warned not to leave the car on the street. The public areas are pretty dismal but the rooms have new bathrooms (and TV sets that access streaming only). I quietly asked the male on duty if the reported mouse problem had been solved but he had no idea and did not offer to find out for me. Our room was freezing and we could not figure out how to operate the remote control. The desk clerk had no idea so asked the fellow in the onsite liquor store who took the remote. I asked if he knew how it worked and he said he'd figure it out in the room, where my wife was hiddling in bed for warmth. When I suggested that perhaps there was someone he could speak with to get instructiions, hespun around aand stuck the control in my hands saying " If you don't want my help I'm outa here and stomped back to the liquor store. So neither he nor the desk clerk has had any training and he has one heck of an attitude problem.
• Herman (2/5): - I asked the guy if the mouse/rat issue mentioned in a previous review had been resolved. He said he had no idea. Did not offer to find out. The room A/C was workinh overtime and the room was freezing. I could not figure out how to get warm so asked him if he knew how to do it. He said he didn't know but he'd push some buttons. When I asked him if there was anyone he could ask who knew what buttons to push he handed me the controller and walked away in a huff. And here I thought you were in the hospitality business. Silly me!
