Guest Reviews
- Therese (9/5): -
- Tannia (9/5): - Great views and lots of room for the family It could be a bit clearer.
- KMoulton (10/5): Amazing location right on the water - Great location - would have loved to use the fire on the deck but it was too windy. Views from the lounge room and the main bedroom were wonderful
- Frances (4/5): Not a place we would choose again. - Communication with the hosts was excellent. Nice big windows in the lounge area to see the ocean. Bathrooms have been renovated. The second bedroom was very small. Bit of a musty smell. The smelter was very close. No where to really walk very far.
The photos are not an accurate reflection of the place.
- Qinghua (10/5): - Very beautiful sea view
- Petrina (8/5): Accurate photos and description in listing. Highly recommend for a family waterfront holiday. Great base for local touri - Location was perfect. Right on the waters edge.
We even watched an orca cruising by.
The house has a real ‘visiting the family beach home’ vibe.
Well equipped.
Comfortable furniture.
Quirky decor. That we didn’t stay longer.
Wonderful home for a longer stay.
- Bianca (7/5): Very run down, not for us! - The view from this property is the best part of this shack. Unfortunately our stay wasn’t as enjoyable as others have had. On arrival, we had no power to the main tv area and one of the fridges. Upon calling owner, no actual advice or help was given. There was no tv available in any room of the house as the satellite had too much cloud cover, according to owner, we had no cloud cover next morning, still no tv. The master bedroom, bed, wasn’t very comfortable for us and although the master bathroom has been renovated, attention to detail is lacking, toilet seat needs fixing, fan needs fixing and please be careful using the bath, as all that is holding the weight of the water and a person sitting in it, is two 90x45 stick timber that’s propping the floor underneath it, which you can see in the room to the left of the front door. The other problem we had was the owner then messaging at 8:00am the next morning and trying to call at 9:00am to fix the problem for the next tenant, after doing nothing to help us the night before. It sadly wasn’t a pleasant experience for us. The lack of lighting out on the deck above the table, the amount of different coloured light bulbs, the stairs light had to be on when turning the dining room lights on and as it’s pointing straight at you when standing near kitchen, it’s extremely annoying. Master bathroom toilet seat and fan needs fixing, there was just too much ‘stuff’ in this shack, the dust on all the decorations is an asthmatic’s worst nightmare. The artwork was not to our taste, and in a rental property better choices needed. Lack of heating in bedrooms. We didn’t like all the handwritten notes taped around in every room and on everything!
- Karen (8/5): - What a quirky wonderful place to visit. On the waters edge.
- Stanley (10/5): If I lived nearby I would frequently stay here! - Absolutely incredible location right on the beach. Stunning views! Nothing really. Some aspects were rustic but this is a classic beach house!
- Jane (10/5): Definitely worth it for the location. Next time we’ll stay there longer - The location by the sea. We ate on the deck & lit the slow combustion wood heater. The wood was all supplied & accessible. There was plenty of space inside to relax & had a well set up kitchen & pantry. It is quite close to a freight terminal for a mine. You could see it was working but no smoke came in our direction.
- Jeremy (9/5): - Right on the water, fully exposed with a huge deck including plenty of enclosed space - magic. Extensive indoor living with distinct areas for kids. Fully equipped kitchen. Lovely bathroom in the main bedroom. This house is really great but the elements will win eventually. One of our party was disturbed by oise from the iorn ore processing up the road, no one else was aware of it.

- Chris (8/5): Very enjoyable, would recommend it to others and would stay there again. - Location is very good, easy access, the view towards Stanley is excellent, the outlook to the industrial site not so good.
- Reginald (9/5): - The view was amazing even though it was raining and windy.
- Diane (10/5): - Awesome property, location and facilities
- Julie (10/5): Calmin, refreshing and rejuvenating - It was a great beach shack experience with all the amenities you need
And looking out over the water was just amazing, also walking on the rocks when the tide was out looking at the different rocks and their colors and markings, nature at its best
Was quiet and calming
And Michael was a great host, quick to reply with any questions that needed answering No negatives. Everything was perfect
- Leonie (10/5): -
- Anne (10/5): It was in an excellent location, cosy, peaceful, a perfect view & had plenty of room to spread out. - It is in an excellent location & close to Stanley. The view was magnificent. It was very nice, cosy & peaceful there. We enjoyed watching the tide come in & out. The house had everything you could possible want. We liked that the sea & beach, was right in front of the house. We especially loved the pot belly, which we used everyday, as it was cold while we were there, It was so nice, sitting on the verandah, looking out to the sea, that can be protected from the weather & wind. All that was perfect. I loved the main bedroom, with the ensuite bath, with a view looking out to see. It was a bit over crowded with furniture & utensils.
- Peter (9/5): Stanley View Beach House is ideal for a very affordable, comfortable stay for unwinding & relaxing. - Stanley View Beach House is a must.
Very comfortable with all you need.
Warm, clean, very homely.
Great balcony which is very well designed with huge sliding glass doors protecting from the prevailing winds while still open to the amazing views.
Highly efficient barrel wood heater with all wood & firelighting supplied.
Close to the Tarkine & North West Coast for endless exploring.
Bonus beach & rocky point strolling right out front.
Peggs Beach & Black River just up the road.
Sit on the balcony & watch the gorgeous sunsets with the gentle sounds of lapping waves & bird calls.
Previous posts have mentioned the industrial complex nearby. Yes, it’s there but you wouldn’t know unless you go out of your way to look at it.
It’s actually interesting - read up on what it is.
Surrounding gates can be closed to keep your dog in.
Our Kelpie loved this holiday house as did we! Perhaps thick gardening gloves for handling firewood wouldn’t go astray for those with ageing (thinning) skin!
- Jan (10/5): Everything was thought of by the Hosts to ensure one felt special . Sitting on the amazing deck looking at the “Nut” “Wo - The peacefulness. Spectacular views , amazing property . Absolutely nothing
- Melissa (10/5): Absolutely amazing place, I was sad to leave, Memories that were made will last a lifetime. - The Beach house is amazing, We loved everything about it. It was Perfection, the views were breathtaking. The beaches were beautiful, the house is huge & beautiful. The beds were very comfortable.
11/10... The best place I have ever stayed at.

- Yao (9/5): -
- Rachel (10/5): Great views and amazing beach! - Cowrie Point was amazing!!!!!! -
- Monique (10/5): Restful and comfortatble - The house was extremely well equipped and very comfortable. The views were fabulous Nothing
- Leanne (9/5): Very comfortable with great view! - Loved both the house and the view! Very comfortable! A little hard to find the turn off, it is such a small road, we both went past it and had to turn around and come back.
- Dallas 1 (10/5): - Only wish it could've been longer ,beautiful spot topped off by 3 whales in the bay. Loved it.
- Kym (7/5): Spectacular view, but needs some TLC - Loved the view! Main bedroom and ensuite looked recently renovated & lovely. Very spacious house for big groups or families. Very cluttered. The rest of the house could do with some renovation & updating. The door from inside onto the deck blew shut and was so rusty, we struggled to open it. We almost got stuck outside on a freezing night with no phones or car keys on us.
- JEANETTE (8/5): Lovely holiday house right on the beach. - Lovely older style large house. Big windows overlooking beach. It was very windy when we stayed but no drafts at all. Main bedroom and bathroom were beautiful. Large kitchen with every appliance etc you would require. The smaller double bedroom could do with a new bed. Not so comfortable.
- Rita (10/5): - Everything was great but the scenery was to die for
- Mark (8/5): A great spot to relax and unwind. - Location, Location, Location.
Terrific spot for a stay, either short or long term.
A great spot for family holidays, or a group of friends. The property is a little run down, albeit, renovations appear to be underway. It isn't a new construction, however has loads of seaside "shack' character. The front deck is a great spot to relax and enjoy company.
- Lindsey (10/5): - A wonderful and cosy place
Great position on the water with a lovely balcony and fire to enjoy
Fabulously stocked kitchen
The kids loves the tv and games room
- Lindsay (10/5): - Right on the ocean. Very relaxing
- mehben (9/5): -
- Sarah (8/5): - Beautiful 😍 Fantastic
- MENGZHU (10/5): - Awesome views, so close to water, dog friendly
- Robyn (10/5): -
- Sean (10/5): - All
- Elysia (8/5): - Beautiful views, warm and comfortable.
- Emma (9/5): A great place to relax. - The house has a beautiful view and is very well appointed with the smaller details like tissues, kitchen items, and night lights. It is very clean and beautifully presented. The master bedroom ensuite is fantastic. Multiple living areas for your family to spread out and have their own space. It would be great if the TV viewing options could be upgraded. The master bed is also a little bit firm and would benefit from a mattress topper.
- Gary (7/5): -
- Jeffrey (9/5): Beyond expectations! - Very comfortable living area
A real beach house
Water about 3 mtrs from lounge
Great bathrooms Access hard for disability
Rear lane could be upgraded to overcome this
- Jennifer (10/5): Would love to visit again. - It was an amazing property. Beds were top quality and everything you could think of was in the house. Nothing
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional - Sensational views. Clean, comfortable and a great base for exploring NW Tassie.
- Jigar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alan (8/5): Bit expensive but not unexpected for a 3-bedroom house. Very happy with the accommodation. - Nice location overlooking the ocean—lounge room had floor to ceiling windows which gave a beautiful view.
- Gael (9/5): Totally relaxing few days. - The location is amazing with spectacular views. We were anazed at the number of kitchen appliances. Beds were very confortable. We liked the mix of "shacky" type decor and modern.
- Shane (9/5): Serenity upon serenity. - Fabulous afternoon on the deck and evening enjoying the view.
- Jenny (8/5): Very good - Unexpectedly surprised!
Amazing views of Bass Strait .
Comfortable home with everything one needed for a great holiday.
- Victoria (10/5): The best shack experience - We stayed at The Stanley View House for a group getaway with the kids and it was awesome. Kids ranged from 2-12 and the house had everything we needed. Baby gates, speakers for good tunes, real shack vibes, extra bedding, gorgeous views. We hope to make it an annual thing. We didn't want to leave!!
- Janice (10/5): Fabulous views only meters from the water - So much to love about our 3 night stay here. Fabulous views! Comfy beds and lounge chairs. Very well equipped kitchen. Well situated for visiting Stanley, Dip Falls, BoatHarbour Beach, the Tarkine etc. Very good value for money. We would be very happy to return.
- Karna (7/5): It was ok. - House location, size of facility, phone and message responding was good. Water and electricity wasn’t working at same time so we couldn’t recharge our mobile, can’t use light & can’t use toilet & shower. Can’t make our breakfast in the house so we have to leave the facility early😭
- David (9/5): Loved the Seaview. - The view was spectacular as you are right on the water’s edge. Sunsets and evening stars were amazing. The house was spacious and well stocked with all the necessities. The stories on the history of the house as told by the grandchildren was a very nice touch. All good.
- Linda (9/5): A gorgeous setting - Lovely beach house which was very much a loving home for the owners - shabby chic. Great views and well equipped would definitely stay again. Stanley was a short drive where there were amenities. Neighbours dog doing its business on the garden of the beach house near where I had parked my car.
- Jane (10/5): Travelling with another couple sightseeing and exploring Stanley - travelling for 3 weeks in Tasmania. - Location was great but house had beautiful homely feel, very well equipped and with kitchen and pantry - could tell it was a much loved family holiday home.
Was great that the owner sent us a message to say it was available a couple of hours earlier than arranged arrival time as we were able to settle in before going out for walks in Stanley. We weren’t there long enough!
- Tania (10/5): Perfect ending to the Lap around Tassie x - Location was superb, house was clean and had everything you could desire to have a wonderful stay! No having to stock up on laundry powder, salt, or tea bags here, they have you covered!! What a refreshing change to the usual bare necessities! Absolutely nothing.
- Matt (8/5): Amazing location with view of the Nut - Amazing location overlooking beach and rocky outcrop, with view of the Nut. Lots of space for everyone.
- Pat (5/5): Passable -
- Tracey (6/5): Disappointed with the property. - The view was amazing Next to coal plant. 20 km out of Stanley when adverts said it was in Stanley. Very disappointing and felt the description was misleading. Great house for large family with kids but not 3 adults.
- Szn (9/5): Superb - View amazing whales
Fire on balcony fantastic
Dining area good too
- Li (8/5): We had a nice and relax stay in the property - Nice view and has everything in the kitchen NA
- Nigel (7/5): Good - Lovely place great views to the nut Factory working virtually next door. Long pier, blowing smoke ,/ steam
- Deb (9/5): Whilst the weather was pretty wild and wet during our stay watching the storms coming across the ocean from the living r - We loved the location which was so close to the beach and looked across to the Nut. The house had everything you needed including games, puzzles, dvds and a fully equipped kitchen.
- Sharon (9/5): Superb - Excellent view and position Stay was very good but house had bad smell maybe dead mouse
- Jenna (8/5): I could stay for days just enjoying the view - Pillows not the best. when you’re due to replace the beds don't go firm.
- Leonie (10/5): Exceptional - Wood provided for the fire, all the cutlery and cooking utensils we needed, plenty of space for us, some games for our young child, bit of beach close by. Had to cut our stay short but we are keen to return and stay for longer!
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing location, fireplace with wood ready to go. Owners have really thought of everything
- Natasha (10/5): Beautiful location, everything you could ever need is there 💜 - The hosts have thought of everything! N/A

- Looney (10/5): Exceptional -

- Toni (10/5): Magic! - Stunning location with wonderful views - a magic spot. Every conceivable need is supplied. The car trip to Stanley and The Nut is well worth it There was nothing to dislike
- Karen (10/5): Our stay was extremely enjoyed and will be well remembered. - The location was fabulous overlooking the coast near Stanley with a great view of The Nut. It was a very quiet location which made our stay even the more enjoyable.
The amenities and cleanliness of the house was fantastic and the utensils and facilities offered exceptional.
Our stay was made so much more comfortable and easy because of this. Even cooled water ready in the fridge!
A great host and would love to come back again for another stay when in Tassie. No negatives.
- Hazel (8/5): Fabulous location in a well equipped property, wish we had stayed longer - Exceptional beach front location. Views from the living area were spectacular. Very secluded and private. Access to a couple of quiet beaches, we had a great time exploring rock pools. Very well appointed property, with a fully equipped kitchen. Games, puzzles & music (LPs & record player) provided. Great deck area, possibility of setting a fire in the chimnea on the deck, although we didn’t use it. Master bedroom has a free standing bath with a beach view. When we had an issue with the water the host contact was prompt to respond & fixed the problem quickly. The fact that there’s an iron ore processing plant that you can hear humming all through the night & is a bit of an eyesore.
- Frank (9/5): Enjoyable week at Stanley View with beautiful views & easy access to Dip Falls & the Tarkine Drive. - The deck overlooking the water was the main standout. The views of Stanley and The Nut were wonderful. Stanley View provides easy access to Dip Fall & Big Tree, Stanley and of course the Tarkine Drive. Not much!
- Laraine (10/5): We were extremely comfortable and would go again. - Everything we needed was available. Owner was very friendly and helped us with our luggage.
- Elysia (8/5): Very good - Beautiful spot on the waterfront. Wonderful to relax to the sound of the waves.
- Vanessa (9/5): Superb - lovely views close to everything
- Mandy (8/5): Views are the highlight of this large seaside house - The location of this house is great. The views across the water to Stanley and the Nut are beautiful and you find yourself looking at them all the time. The covered and partly glassed in verandah is excellent and there is a small pot belly fireplace. They have provided a lot of kitchen utensils which is good being a bit of distance from the shops. While the main and newer bedroom with ensuite is lovely and large the other 2 older rooms are small with no room for suitcases. There is a lot of maintenance that needs doing to the older part of the house.
- Teresa (10/5): Beautiful house and view, got washing machine and dryer which is best for tourist like us. manificent view in the day an -
- Michelle (10/5): Out of this world - Without doubt this was the best accomodation I have had
- Maharjan (5/5): Location wise, we live this place but we found flies in one room’s bed and rooms have damp smell. - It is in good location It look need to renovate, repaint and need to detail inside/ outside
