Guest Reviews
- Carine (4/5): Bien situé mais vieillot - Hôtel bien située mais vieillot et mal insonorisé
- Madeleine (10/5): - Très bien pour 1 nuit. Le matelas aurait pu être de meilleure qualité et la décoration plus engageante.
- pascale (8/5): Good for a few nights - A bit old but pretty clean and comfortable; Close and walking distance to train station and Place de la Comédie
Only thing is the room smelled like cigarette
but overall fine after I left window open (I had a balcony!)
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Vétuste on entends les voisins baisser Bon c est bien lol mais à 4 h du matin sa fait drôle tu te dit c est un rêve ou non lol
- Darina (6/5): - Very noisy Saturday night
- Johannes (8/5): - Die Lage des Hotels ist perfekt. Man sollte vor Anreise eine Parkmöglichkeit erfragen. In der unmittelbaren Nähe gibt es keine!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff are helpful and welcoming. They speak enough English to deal with basic concerns / questions (my French is terrible, so I appreciated their effort). The hotel itself is basic and not luxurious, but clean and tidy. The location is very convenient, just a few minutes' walk from the main train station, and close to dozens of restaurants. It can get a little noisy / rowdy at night, though, with people socializing and shouting in the street below. I wouldn't recommend this if you're looking for a serene and luxurious retreat, but if you're a no-nonsense traveler on a budget, it's probably just what you want.
- Peter (6/5): A place to sleep - Very basic room but very close to train station. Bed close to ground and fairly uncomfortable. VERY small room, even by European standards.
- ChoudhurySomnath (8/5): Good hotel in city centre - It was a good hotel in the heart of the city. Great location with close to tourist attractions and public transport. The bathroom was too small and the room very tiny. Clean rooms and clean towels. The stay was quite nice.
- sammlongy (6/5): Cant complain, what you see is what you get! - Recently stayed here between Christmas and New year for one night as part of a travelling trip.
Very Basic hotel but cant complain about anything really. Check in was really good and the lady was really friendly, even when checking in a few hours before normal time we still had our room ready :)
Ideal location for the center as its literally round the corner, with restaurants and bars everywhere! The train station is also a 5 minute walk away, short of nothing around this area!
Room was OK, everything was clean, so cant complain!
- amystargirl (6/5): Hot shower and good air conditioning.. - For one night at €57 you get what you pay for really. We needed somewhere close to the train station, with wifi and preferably air con, and with these criteria it met our expectations. We stayed on the second floor and room was spacious.
Only negative was that there is no elevator.
- musicalrob (6/5): It's all you need really... - Our stay at hotel de Paris was fine. The room was cleaned daily, it had air conditioning and friendly staff.
The only downfalls we had there was that the hotel was situated in a moderately rough side of town (but not far away from a beautiful part of town) and that the wifi was incredibly slow!
Overall it was ok for price and nice nearby but only recommended for a short stay.
- 412leee (8/5): Much better than expected - I read the reviews here after booking the hotel so I was dreading the stay. However, when we got there we were pleasantly surprised. I'm not sure if the other reviews refer strictly to the non en-suite rooms or a different hotel altogether, but the en-suite room we stayed in was spacious, clean and quiet (with the windows closed and the air-con on). Overall, a good value for money.
- gzbruno (4/5): not ever - you have to walk a million stairs to get to your room and forget about elevators. also you share the shower and the toilet with all the floor. you can hear all that is going on in the other rooms, i got mushrooms in my feet, im in treatment now. also DO NOT get to have breakfast there, you will pay 5 euros and they give you a hard bread, a crossiant, a little bit of mermelade and some butter, a coffee and a very small glass of juice. there is a very good place to eat, when you come out of the hotel turn to the right and you will see a place where they sell pizza and creppes. the food is very good there and cheap.
- Vitiacool (4/5): Cockroaches - The hotel is relatively cheap but dirty. In the bathroom you will find a company of cockroaches. The room needs renovation. The receptionist was kind and friendly with me. That was perhaps the only advantage.
- BevW162 (2/5): Dirty and horrible. - Had to walk up two very long flights of stairs with a heavy suitcase. The room was musty, the bed awful. The shower had only a curtain which made me feel it was unhygienic. The bath mat was filthy. It felt very grubby and unclean. The breakfast was very basic. But the receptionist in the evening and the following morning were pleasant and helpful. This was the hotel's only redeeming feature. Ahorrible experience altogether. Very over priced
- fedepip (4/5): seriously? - you would not sleep there! less than half of a pillow, no bathroom door (shower curtain instead).. small, smelly!
surely it s in a good position, but it is not absolutely worth the money!
The receptionist is really nice! (the only good thing that i would give 5 stars) and it s really really noisy!
- UsaAshley (2/5): Spend a little more or stay in a hostile - We stayed because we went to Paris to SEE Paris. Either stay in a hostile where it's cheaper or spend a little more. I was worried the whole time about getting bug beds. We covered every inch of our bodies and didn't want to touch anything by our skin. Towels exfoliate your bodies when you dry off. Creepy workers. We were told to leave our room key with them when we left and we would get it when we return. We never did but every time we returned NO ONE was there to give a key out if we had. Completely unromantic atmosphere. Metro stop is close but the line doesn't go to the city center so you have to make at least 2 transfers to get anywhere. Our sheets were not clean and had black hairs on them.
- BabsJC (6/5): ok for a few days - Very helpful staff.
Light and decent sized room.
Bedding top sheet was ripped, and someone has left vomit stains down the side of the mattress.
Bathroom was a bit dirty around the shower. The shower head blojed with limescale.
The location is great, though the street a little noisy.
Ok for short stay for the money.
- rugby_tour (4/5): why stay here - too loud, falling down, tiny toilets, poor linen, location is okay very close to old town but equally close to late night bars and more kebab shops than i can remember. there must be many better hotels in montpellier.
- MrsB7588 (2/5): Ok location, bad everything else - We weren't expecting the Ritz for 57euro, but we were expecting better.
We must have been allocated the worst room, certainly it didn't look anything like those advertising the hotel. The toilet wasn't in a useable position, 3 inches from the front edge of the seat to the wall, ok if you are a small child. The room decor, holes in the walls filled, but needed painting, nice curtains, but put up the wrong way round so the street and apartment opposite get the benefit, at best the room was seedy.... Suffice to say we asked for a different room; our request couldn't be accommodated as the place was full, so we asked to be able to walk away, no charge; we were told this wasn't possible, basically like it & lump it. We didn't stay and thankfully nor did we end up paying. The Ibis was just the ticket.
- AndrewThompson1986 (8/5): Great Short Term Accommodation - We stayed in Hotel de Paris just on a whim while walking around the city. They only charged 58eur for one night in a double room and the room was worth the money (but you wouldn't pay much more than that) the location was perfect, lots of restaurants and bars and markets close by and only a 5 minute walk from old town. Room was clean and air conditioned with a T.v., Ensuite and a great internet connection. The receptionist was friendly and i really have no complaints about this accommodation.
- rosa_doyle (6/5): Good price-quality ration - The hotel is situated equally close to the train station and Place de la Comedie (the main square of the historical part of town), so it's great for those who stay one night and want a quick visit of Montpellier!
The rooms are clean and spacious, nothing special but everything that you need including air conditioning and a tv! To be honest the toilet in my bathroom was way too close to the wall so goodluck for those with long legs, and the breakfast was a let down (as I had read reviews on tripadvisor promoting it). Overall a very acceptable hotel with very nice staff, but not for those who expect a noiseless weekend!
- sas_stewart (10/5): Great central location, friendly staff. - I stayed here with my partner on the first night we arrived in France on route to a holiday home. It was easy to get to as the monorail stopped just over the road. The hotel was very close to la place de la comedie about a 5 minute stroll.
The guy on reception was very friendly and checked that we could understand French before he gave us information about the hotel. The breakfast was simple but just what we needed. Fresh coffee, orange juice, bread, croissants etc and they were flexible with the checkout time.
You are provided with a key that allows 24 hour access. The rooms are clean, ours had a small balcony and the bathrooms are large and clean. Definitely great for anyone on a budget that wants a clean, comfortable stay.
- morten_dahl (6/5): Very good location - This hotel is situated in the heart of Montpellier, very close to the train station and also pretty close to Place de la Comedie. The hotel is very ok with no extras but decent rooms for a reasonable price. The best is however the location. The breakfast was not included in the room-rate. A little bit noise from the street outside, but not too much.
- prozerran (6/5): Good value, average hotel - 1 night
Pros
Location – within 3min walk to the train station in the correct direction. Close to lots of shops/restaurant district within 3-5min walk.
Fan in room
Free Wifi
Cons
No elevator – 3 levels Ground, 1st, 2nd floors.
The side street was quite noisy at night and in the morning.
Overall, no frills accommodation, it does the job. We only used it as a base for transit from Nice to Barcelona.
- mignonne_10 (8/5): Great location, noisy room - The rooms are clean but pretty small and unfortunately not well enough isolated, so it was sometimes a bit noisy. The location of the hotel is great (3 min to the Place de la comédie). I would recommend this hotel for a short trip with friends (especially for young people), the price-performance was very good (EUR 70.00 p.person for 3 nights)
