Guest Reviews
- Alexis (5/5): -
- January (10/5): - We loved the attention to detail and the Manager Mustapha was very good with checking in on us. Nothing
- Victor (2/5): I felt cheated and extorted, had zero value for money and my experience was terrible. - I wish I could find something to like about the peppery. I did not like anything about the property. In fact, I checked out after the first night. Experience was horrible. The location is poor. Their projection online is deceptive. There was poor outage and I had to sleep in darkness. The room is very small. Apart from a single dining chair in the room, there’s nothing else except the bed with very hard and uncomfortable mattress. There was so much mosquito. There’s nothing else except beach as stated. What they call a beach is just water front and very dirty. The property is over-priced. It shouldn’t charge more than $20/night. But I was charged over $180/night. Transfer from the airport cost $45. Crazy.
- Vladimir (10/5): Zanzibar Isla Bonita - Nice room with great view on white sand beach. Kind hotel stuff, excelent breakfest - everything fresh and lots of fruits. If you are interested in snorkeling from hotel beach, I would recommend different location.
- Fabio Massimiliano (8/5): -
- Martina (6/5): - Small room with a bathroom of 1m2. The shower hangs above the toilet. Renovation is needed, especially since the power goes out a lot, the water pressure drops and the room doors cannot be locked.
The employees seem friendly, but they are mainly concerned with blaming others.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful and quiet place. The staff was very personal and friendly, and they all made us feel welcome. Highly recommended!
- Kevin (8/5): A lovely place on a quieter beach with a couple of other hotels nearby. Staff were very attentive and the hotel had som - Great location right on the beach, nice rooms and pool. Relatively small so felt more homely and staff were very nice and very helpful. Meal service was a little slow and you were often asked to order for a few hours before meal times to speed up the process. Food was very nice though.
- Kaloussa (8/5): Very good -
- George (10/5): - Lewis was phenomenal in making my stay a great one. The sunrises are breathtaking. Highly recommend as an alternative to the loud beach areas on the island.
- Machiwenyika (6/5): Pleasant - The view The food
- Ladnaught (9/5): Superb -
- Ivy (8/5): Very good - The staff here were amazing. They made my stay worth while. Rooms were cleaned everyday. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. Given that the facility is a bit dated the rates could be better. The location is far from the road, good if you have your own car if not you can find some nice spots along the beach.
- Fnm (8/5): It was a great holiday. - Breakfast is great. You ask them to make what you like. Fresh fruits, omelette etc. Staff is happy to help. The new gym is under construction. Wish it was ready.
Next time going there will enjoy the new gym. The manager Mustafa is doing his best with the new gym.
- Shaibu (10/5): Exceptional - I have more explanation cause everythings is so good in there so I'm so happy 🥰🥰 No
- Michael (4/5): Disappointing Christmas holiday - Rooms were very basic in content as were sold as 'Luxury' A/C did not work for most of the week, stayed at another hotel for two nights which was very good. No safe box, no fridge no kettle tea coffee.
- Olivier (8/5): A Tropical Paradise at Hotel Isla Bonita, Zanzibar - A Tropical Paradise at Hotel Isla Bonita, Zanzibar
We recently had the pleasure of staying at the enchanting Hotel Isla Bonita in Zanzibar, and the experience was nothing short of magical.
The first thing that struck me was the warm and genuine hospitality of the staff. The team at Hotel Isla Bonita goes above and beyond to ensure that every guest feels welcomed and pampered. Their attention to detail and commitment to excellent service truly set this hotel apart.
The accommodations are simply stunning. My room boasted breathtaking views of the crystal-clear turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. The design seamlessly blended modern luxury with traditional Zanzibari elements, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The room was impeccably clean, and the thoughtful amenities provided added a touch of indulgence to my stay. There are sometimes rare power cuts!
- Zweli (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mghaieth (10/5): A destination that worth a trial - It was my 4th visit to Isla bonita within the last 2 years, and I m sure this will not be the last. A hotel located in one of the most beautiful beaches of this paradise.Mr. Metwaly, the hotel manager, is working hard to develop his business and deliver the best experience to his guests. Recently, he added a gym that will help you to maintain your body shape after enjoying the delicious meals prepared in the hotel cuisine. Vacation was not that long
- Tina (10/5): - The resort was wonderful! Mr. Achmed, Elizabeth and the other staff took very good care of us. The resort was very relaxing and the beach is beautiful. I have never seen ocean water so gourgwoua. We really enjoyed watching the locals play soccer. Great stay, great experience!
- Christopher (10/5): An absolutely amazing experience of Zanzibar! - Everything at Isla Bonita was amazing. The manager Ahmed was excellent. He was available whenever we needed him and helped us book sightseeing tours. The staff was excellent and also available whenever we needed them. The resort is great and the views are amazing; our rooms came with a balcony and a breathtaking ocean view. The rooms are of a high standard and are cleaned every day. The food was delicious and the location was very safe. I strongly recommend Isla Bonita to everyone! I liked everything. I do not have any complaints.
- Mrashi (9/5): The beach is beautiful and right on your door step what more could you want. - We loved the hospitality of the hotel from the moment we got there the energy was welcoming and very family friendly. The staff are amazing and ALWAYS willing to help and accessible at all times. If your family/kids don’t like cats like ours then unfortunately it’s something they can’t really control they are around but again the workers worked around the clock to make sure our girls were comfortable by keeping them away. There’s only so much you can do.
The WiFi wasn’t great but hey you’re on an island in Zanzibar.
- Vitaly (10/5): Exceptional - Isla Bonita is a wonderful place with friendly and helpful stuff. We were welcomed as old friends. The rooms are clean and cozy with fantastic sea view. Also you can go to the roof to see amazing sunrise. We loved this quiet place, we enjoyed walking along the wide beach, we miss our small talks with general manager. Thanks for unforgettable time at Isla Bonita!
BTW if you enter the beach and turn left there is a nice place to eat called Spicy mama with tasty authentic food and european service. -
- Maryam (10/5): One of the best places to stay in Zanzibar! - Everything was incredible and made our trip a dream! The property’s location is amazing and the sea view room we booked was perfect. From the warm reception and great service, to the welcoming + very helpful + attentive staff, the clean rooms, big pool and great food for breakfast, lunch and supper (buffet of course), everything was awesome and made our trip most enjoyable. Picture this: have your afternoon coffee on a cushiony swing right on the beach with a gentle sea breeze on your face as you stare out into the crystal blue ocean and bury your feet in the powdery white sand. Thank you Mustafa and Ahmed for your hospitality and for being kind enough to let us check out late because our flight was late in the evening. I liked everything! Please keep it up!
- Abhishek (1/5): Terrible hotel with the owner only interested in grabbing your cash - Located in a nice place and is newer The owner and the manager are terrible. They are only looking to grab money. I was asked to pay full money as soon as I stepped inside the hotel, generally by itself it’s no big deal but the owner wants to get your money even before you settle in. Next comes the worst dinner buffet. They overcharge for it ($15 per person) and they hardly give any good options. The food also didn’t taste good. To add insult to injury, one of the staff told me that Fanta was included in the price but they ended up charging $2 for it. When I brought this up, the owner said “Show me which staff told you that it was free” and constantly kept asking me to point fingers at the person who told me it was free. When it comes to shower, there was no pressure (or even water for that matter).
The owner is not a local person and had no sense of hospitality/customer service, while every other hotel we stayed at in Zanzibar had amazing local hosts who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. I recommend people stay away from this cash grab hotel and find other good accommodation nearby.
- Ghassan (10/5): - As soon as you enter the hotel, you will be greeted with the most beautiful view of your life, leaving you at ease.
The place is exceptionally safe with a fantastic staff. The hotel owner, Mustapha, is truly amazing and has extensive experience working in 5-star hotels in Dubai and Egypt. The chef prepares an incredible coconut curry sauce, and the beach is simply stunning.
The tide goes out for about 2 kilometers, creating warm and shallow pools where you can relax and observe starfish and other sea creatures.
It was so enjoyable that I didn't go on any excursions because I was extremely happy with everything the hotel had to offer. The hotel rooms were impeccably clean, and the air conditioning worked perfectly, and there were barely any bugs.
Additionally, it was mango season, and the villagers were very friendly, making my stay even more delightful. I had an amazing time overall.
- Fabienne (9/5): Superb -
- Anamaria (10/5): a dream vacation - everything was wonderful! incredible staff!very clean and very good food!Very large beach with white sand. a quiet, dreamy location where we stayed for 2 weeks -
- Khan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hakim (9/5): I am recommending to go on this hotel very reasonable price - good location and front beach all was good especially good food my Ismael and Yakub chief was very helpful
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - We were thoroughly impressed. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, with all the necessary amenities including a TV. The hotel staff were truly awesome - they were welcoming, friendly and always ready to assist with any request or inquiry.
The location of the hotel is perfect, with stunning views of the ocean and easy access to the beach. The hotel's facilities and services were top-notch, with a fantastic restaurant serving delicious meals and offered a great selection of soft drinks and fresh juices.
One of the highlights of my stay was the fantastic service provided by the hotel staff. They went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was comfortable and enjoyable, and their friendly and attentive approach really made me feel at home.
Overall, I highly recommend the Isla Bonita hotel for anyone visiting Matemwe, Zanzibar. The combination of clean and comfortable rooms, stunning location, delicious food, and outstanding service makes it a top choice for accommodation on the island.
- Ngalya (8/5): Very good - Room was soo clean
staff were very helpful
They have ok meal
- Joss (1/5): Waste of money - rather go to Stone Town during low season - Their only redeeming qualities are that breakfast was good (cats are a nuisance when trying to eat), the hotel is clean and they hung up balloons for my Mom's 70th birthday. We had a horrible experience at this hotel. It was poorly managed during our stay, which was during low season.
We had NO electricity from 1pm to 10pm on our arrival day. And we were the only two guests in this entire hotel.
No air con, no WiFi, no TV, no lights & it was storming. This put us down in the dumps on day 1.
It felt like a colossal waste of money.
I couldn't pay by card due to their card machine issues and the acting manager shouted across the courtyard, "MAYBE IT'S YOUR CARD!" It wasn't, as I used this card that same day (day 2 of our trip) in Stone Town. The following morning (around 2am) the electricity went off again. At 8am in the morning, I messaged the manager and he said that it was out of his control and that the entire island had been affected. I questioned about the generator, and 20 minutes after my complaint, the hotel's generator miraculously started up. Still no WiFi or TV though.
I alerted Bookings.com and we paid in cash and checked out immediately after 2 nights.
There is no sense of customer service at this place from the acting manager. From personal experience, I felt that we were treated this way because we are 2 women. He tried to bamboozle us. And he was rude to us and the driver who picked us up from a different company.
My advice - don't waste your money here. Rather go to Stone Town during Zanzibar's low season and have a trip that's worthwhile & shows a true reflection of this beautiful island and its warm people.
- Zlatan (7/5): Good -
- Pauline (10/5): Total Gem!! - I loved every minute of my stay at Isla Bonita. The staff, the location, everything! If you are looking for a little bit of paradise this is the place. This morning I left my room and walked into the ocean and it felt like heaven! Mustafa and Ahmed are fabulous hosts, they really care about their guests.
I've moved on into Stone Town, it's loud, smelly and so busy - I'm already wishing I was back at Isla Bonita and it's only been a few hours! If you are looking for a tropical escape with good food and relaxation - look no further!!
- Kateryna (10/5): one of the best places to stay in zanzibar - peaceful paradise, in 50 meters from the beach. great ocean view from the balcony/breakfast spot. New spacious rooms, large comfortable bed, always clean bathroom.
most supportive manager Mostafa, who is always ready to help you with anything.
you should book this hotel just to have this rare experience, when a manager really cares. unstable wi-fi and weak water pressure sometimes, but it’s the whole island problem. just be ready to face it
- Georgia (8/5): Very good -
- Micale (10/5): - Very beautiful place and very quiet. The staffs were friendly. Our room was cleaned everyday. There is AC in the room if you don’t want the humidity filled in your room. There is also breakfast in the morning. Though the food choices are limited, otherwise everything was perfect.
- Akinola (10/5): Conducive environment for chilling. Food and service delivery is superb. - Isla Bonita is your choice if you’re looking for a relaxing beachfront property far from crowded tourist areas.
We felt right at home right from day one. We were welcomed warmly by the owners and services were always rendered with a smile.
Loved the food and most of all the beautiful beach which was just a stone throw away.
Would definitely visit again!
- Clare (9/5): Really lovely owner who cares that guests have a good time. Great pool and lovely staff. - Mustafa and Ahmed were exceptionally friendly and helpful and clearly wanted to make our stay the best it could be. Mustafa is passionate about making sure guests have an enjoyable stay. The pool was amazing - so big and warm and gradual sloping depth, perfect for young kids. Lovely breakfast and lovely staff. I wouldn’t say there was anything we disliked but it’s useful to know there’s not much within walking distance. You’ll need a hire car or be prepared for taxis everywhere.
- Abdelilah (10/5): very quite and nice - everything nothing
- Michał (9/5): A place truly worth recommending! - The owners are great. They agreed that we could stay in the room a half day longer due to the fact that we had a plane after midnight. What's more, we got as we asked a room on the first floor. The rest of the staff was very nice too. The hotel and the rooms are neat and decorated in a cool style. a big plus is the view from each room of the ocean. Another thing worth mentioning is the rooftop terrace with a brilliant view. PS. Owners should do some nice place to sit and chill there! The beach is beautiful as on the east coast, but you have to remember about the tides and algae thrown out by the sea, but the beach is also wide enough at the hotel area that they do not cause much trouble. Moreover this is one of this beaches in Zanzibar that there is not a lot of tourists. The biggest downside is the village near the hotel. As a result, the children approached our sunbeds few times, suggesting that they would like to get something. However, it cannot be ruled out that it may be albo in a different area, but perhaps something could be done to not disturb guests.
The breakfasts were very tasty. They consisted of a drinks, a plate of fruits and menu dishes that you could choose, but each time some of them were unavailable. However, you can definitely eat there tasty!
- Esther (8/5): Very good -
- Franziska (9/5): Great and relaxing stay. everyone tried to make everything possible.🙏 - Most welcoming and friendly staff. beach right in front.
- Abdulhadi (8/5): Very good -
- Thapelo (7/5): The stay was great - The food and location The bed was too hard.
- Anaïs (9/5): nice sunny and full of discoveries - The employees were welcoming and helpful. Mustapha and Ahmed(the managers) were always alert and ready to solve any of our issues! we also want to thank them for our honey moon room and romantic table during our last night. The flies
- daniel (8/5): - Pros:We has a very peaceful and restful stay at the Isla Bonita Zanzibar Beach Resort. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful as are the Manager and Assistant Manager. Great location. The village behind is full of life that you can observe and enjoy while lying on a lounge chair under the umbrella, facing the beach, or from the water. Lovely beach. Very safe for children. You can walk for hours. The food is well prepared and fresh. Rooms are clean, comfortable (air con) and Wi-Fi works admirably.
Less Pros (no Cons): The hotel is a bit remote (but it is what we wanted - a million times better than staying around Nungui...); taxis and airport shuttle are available through the hotel. We hired a car at the airport and it was ideal to discover the island. Sometimes the electricity went down, but not a major issue. Food options in the hotel is limited but it seems that case in most places. Need to know the rule: order your dinner in the afternoon to avoid long wait for dinner (it applies everywhere). A little fridge in the room would be good. When we left, safe boxes were being installed. If next room guests are noisy, you might hear it. But there cannot be people noisier than that awful riff-raff family of six staying for few days. Their behaviour was well handled by the Manager after I complained.
- JoEllen (10/5): Quiet Tranquility - Absolutely loved our stay here! The staff was fantastic, the views beautiful, and everything clean and neat. This place is a tremendous value. The road to it is a bit rough but the place is worth it. It is not a very crowded area so the beach is generally pretty empty and the water is beautiful, calm, and shallow for quite a ways out. Highly recommend this place!
A piscina otimo tamanho e agradavel.
A juntar a simpatia do pessoal.
- J van (10/5): Lovely stay at Isla Bonita... - Wonderful hotel. Great service and very friendly staff. The pool and rooms Were Very clean. It had a wonderful garden. Great beach views from rooms. Staff exceptional. Lovely breakfast with mixture of fruit and Various different continental and swahili style breakfast each morning. Thank you Isla bonita for making our holiday a wonderful experience.
- Aya (10/5): - The place is amazing, it's so clean the staff is very helpfulfriendly, location and sea view are just right!
- Abdi (10/5): Amazing experience - Amazing stay. It's a pretty small hotel (10 rooms all facing the beach), and we had the whole place to ourselves when we were there! It's still new so they're still figuring a lot of things out but the staff are super helpful. Endless beach, mostly just locals around. Lots of seaweed but that's typical for the entire east coast.
Would recommend renting a car if you want to get around as there aren't too many activities available in the local area.
