Guest Reviews
- Ilona (10/5): - clean and in proximity to everything!
- Veronica (6/5): - The place was good. Cute little apartment. Loved the structure of the building. Was close to all the places. The only down fall was that it was very hot and humid and A/C did not work. We got through it for 2 nights.
- Miloudza (8/5): - Enjoyed my stay at Guest House Maria! We like the location and the amenities. For a short stay, it’s very convenient.
- Mimoza (6/5): - The owner should have a better way how to check in. The property is appartnent not a vila. She should invest in better sign. If a local person did not help us, we keep going in circles
- wael (10/5): - Very good
- Miryung (10/5): - Check-in was smooth and easy. Kitchen is well stocked with cookware, dishes, utensils and breakfast items. Very much appreciated!
- Giridhar (6/5): - Room is spacious. AC was working but not able to cool the room, TV wasn’t working and they didn’t fix it even after notifying. Shampoo dispenser in the shower wasn’t working. Needs 4 locks to be opened with 4 different keys to enter the room. Elevator is very very narrow, barely fits 4 people (with room to move). Communal kitchen with some snacks and juices available.Municipal tax for the room to be paid only in cash ( challenging for international tourists). Located in central Rome, easy access to Metro (7 min walk) and train station (15 min walk).
- Joseph (6/5): - Room was ok and clean.
The location was not the best and not family friendly. Unfortunately the location made us feel unsafe and we didn’t venture out at night.
- Jenna (10/5): - Although it is not located in the most exciting or clean area of Rome, it is quite near many metro, bus, and tram stations as well as the main train station, making it very easy to get to the exciting parts of the city. The room was spacious and clean and the air condition was a huge plus. The only downside is that because there is a shared kitchen/dining space for all of the guests, it got quite noisy with other families being loud in the kitchen.
- Santiago (10/5): - Buena relación calidad-precio.
- Andres (10/5): - Conveniently located near Roma Termini, excellent dining options around the area.
- Paulina (6/5): - Tranquilo.
- Nicole (10/5): - It was comfortable , clean and close to the tourist spots!
- Gil (8/5): - The property was great and in a great location. It was very clean, good air conditioning and good kitchen facilities. The bathroom was great and clean as well. The only negative we have to say is that the two single beds put together had both mattresses leaning us both into the middle of the bed. Other than that we would highly recommend this property.
- Valeria (10/5): - Very nice room. Easy to access and excellent location.
- Mercedes Carolina (10/5): - Fair price. Clean place. Hot water. Confortable beds. Some food in the morning. Close to the center and the train from the airport.
- Roberta (10/5): - Stanza e organizzazione ottima. Assistenza perfetta e puntuale in ogni dettaglio. Molto consigliato!
- Chris (10/5): - Very central, but off the beaten path, i highly recomend. They picked us up from the airport, and checked us in which took a load off our minds!
- Elizabeth (8/5): - We had a good experience at guest house Maria for our 3 night stay. We loved being so close that almost everything was walkable that we wanted to see! It’s not the nicest area surrounding the apartment but it is very secure- it takes 4 keys to get through the different doors. They reached out a few weeks before our stay and offered to get us from the airport for a fairly reasonable price which made check in very easy and convenient. You do have to pay a nightly tax but the other place we are staying in Venice also does that.
- georgiana (10/5): - Lovely shared apartament.. great location near a park, restaurants in front of the location with great food and a variety of choices.
Walkable distance for the important attractions in Rome. And also close to trimini stations. Highly recommended.
Maria also is a top owner of an Airbnb.
Polite,,friendly, discreet and transparent in businesses. Highly recommended
- Ida (10/5): - Easy walk from train station and to sightseeing. Didn’t go out at night but felt safe when out during the day.
Hostess was accommodating and allowed us to check in early
- Alexandre (8/5): Satisfatória - Satisfação
- Carolyn (8/5): - Lovely room. Check in was convoluted and my son likened it to a escape room! However, the communication was excellent and they provided plenty of detail and information to access without a problem. There was an electric fault the first night which affected sleep. Area was good and walkable to station and all major sites.
- Corina (10/5): - It was easy to walk to the train station and a metro station is very close by
- Eliana (10/5): - Stanza pulita, ottima posizione, personale molto gentile
- Rosa (8/5): - The property was OK, however it had central heating and it was too high and couldn’t control it, it was a bit suffocating indoors.
Poor lighting in our chamber and just one mirror - property disadvantages.
The wifi was really bad as well.
However, great location, walkable, safe neighborhood and amazing local cafés and restaurants.
Near the Metro which is always helpful.
A good cost = benefit place.
- Richard (1/5): I am disgusted and someone is to blame. I feel like I have been ripped off. - I never even found the place. It is not at the address I was given. Four numbers down is an Air BNB or whatever those are called, by the same name. I got some kid out of bed who tried to help. He got someone on the phone who gave me the total runaround, and barely spoke English anyway. We wound up hanging up on each other. Was then alone and without a place to stay, in Rome, at 10:00 pm. Found a motel which, upon viewing in the morning was so sleazy I demanded my money back. Was so disgusted that I cut short my visit to Rome and headed to the next stop on my itinerary. That resulted in three nights having to be spent on the floor at the airport in Rome waiting for a standby opening on a flight out, or until my flight was due to leave, which was what ultimately happened. All in all the Hotel Maria in Rome nearly ruined a month of otherwise rather excellent touring of Europe, from England to Italy. Am quite bothered, as you can perhaps tell. I would not turn down a full refund from you for my bad experience with Hotel Maria. Reread the above.
- Leigh (6/5): - That room was nice enough, but the communication was very lacking. I tried for several days prior to our stay to communicate with the owner for directions for check-in. When I finally did get them, they didn’t work. The only way we actually got into the building was because a nice couple opened the front door for us. We were then able to finish the directions for check-in.
- juan (4/5): - No cleaning and towels to all my staying . Crappie.
- Luisa (6/5): - Checkout muy temprano
- Ricky (6/5): - Nice place if you’re looking for a hostel/BNB experience for one person. The walls are extremely thin so you’ll hear everything from the other tenants and surrounding spaces. I had the unpleasant experience of being here with a very loud group that felt the need to scream karaoke at 3am.
- Patrick (9/5): We had a good time staying in Rome and visiting the sites. Maria guest house is in one of the best central location to s - I like the location from the train station and the city in general. It was easy to walk to most of the attractions. And I had very good communications with the managing staff. The ac didn’t cool efficiently.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location and value. - Good location. The landlady was very friendly and made the instructions on how to enter the building very easy to follow. Spacious rooms and we would highly recommend to anyone.
- Ruben (8/5): - I liked location near the Roma Termini and Coliseum. A/C was not working properly but it was working good enough to have good temperature in the room. It was a little tricky to contact hotel administration to complete the check in but as soon I was able to talk with them, the process was easy.
- JOAN (6/5): - Good location, but had trouble with opening the door. Everything else was good.
- LUIS ARTURO (10/5): - Nos gustó la ubicación y la habitación
- Simone (8/5): - …
- Thomas (10/5): Great traditional town - Host was very good place was near the baeach
- Yelena (10/5): - Didn't feel safe in this area. Homeless people, dirty streets.
But room was nice and cozy.
- Ahmad (3/5): Poor -
- Frank (10/5): - The host was kind and accommodating.
- Victoria (8/5): - Right at the heart of everything with easy transport links to tourist destinations, it was perfect! Easy check in, fast internet and air conditioning were musts and didnt disappoint.
- Nico (10/5): - Great stay!
- Karla (6/5): - It would have been nice to have been welcomed by someone. There is absolutely no one at the property. Except on our way out, a man showed and did not speak English nor Spanish. The little bit we understood by body language is, he was there to collect the keys, the city tax money(which, we wish it was included with the initial purchase) and to assure we were out of the premises at the exact time(no more, no less=0 flexibility). Lastly, the building has a moldy smell. For the first two days, through Expedia platform, we were able to communicate and they were fast to reply.
- GLORIA OFELIA (10/5): Satisfy 👍 - Everything was in perfect order, clen and comfortable
- Brianna (10/5): - Such a good property and even better host. Our host gave us many recommendations for where to go for food and activities. Will definitely be staying here again given the opportunity.
- Ethyl (8/5): - Good honest simple place. Very basic, but clean and we got what was promised. Near termini, walkable. Recommended if on a budget!
- Sadie (10/5): - Great location and clean
- Francisco (10/5): - Good location and affordable place to stay
- Annabelle (8/5): - Location is perfect for us. It’s quite . I recommend this place.
- Paula Regina (10/5): - Nice place and very friendly
- Nelly (6/5): - It was too difficult for seniors to get in and out of the property. It was so hard for us because the elevator does not stop by our door, we had to take 7-8 steps down then another 4-5 steps up to go to the room.
- Maria Kristina Jane (10/5): - One thing for sure, Muna is the best. She made our stay, worry free. All the questions we had, she answered. She even suggested places where we could eat and visit. When we needed a ride somewhere, she saved us (late at night) how amazing.
- Juan (10/5): Really good stay, near termini and the amenities were good - Easy access and near main train station
- Olga (7/5): Good value for the money in a central location - The apartment is located 20 min walk from the train station, 25 min walk from Coliseum, 30-40 min drive from the Fiumicino airport.
The room is clean and spacious.
Muna is a very nice host, was very helpful and responsive; she also drove us to the airport. There was no lock in the washroom, and the lights in the bedroom kept flickering making it hard to sleep.
- Sarah (10/5): - The property was comfortable and very well cared for. The mattresses were soooooo comfy, and our room had everything we needed.
Muna was clear & helpful both prior to our stay, and during. She even arranged for our ride from the airport which was very appreciated.
The location is not the most picturesque neighbourhood in Rome, but we felt safe, and comfortable, and could easily walk to the train station (Roma Terminali), and major sites (Colosseum only 15 minute walk) where you can jump on any of the hop on/hop off buses to get around the city. We would stay here again, and recomend it to others!
- Benjamin (10/5): - Staff were very nice, and being close to termini really made it easy to get around not only Rome but Lazio as well. Nice rooms, very comfy beds, good water pressure (by Italian standards.) I would love to stay there again next time I’m in the city
- Tuike (7/5): 4 night stay in April - The location was great. Good value for the money. We could hear everything happening in the hallway and kitchen area. Luckily the other guests were quiet.
- Emily (8/5): Very good - Great location, facilities and set-up the mattress was very uncomfortable, we struggled sleeping every night.
- Maria (8/5): Clean and convenient - Nice and clean room, great location for Termini station but still very quiet.
Personal service with friendly staff available on WhatsApp. Even though we didn’t meet anyone, the communication was great and instructions easy to follow. Nice touch to be sent recommendations for nearby restaurants and gelato places.
Worth noting that there is no luggage storage facility after checkout, but that didn’t affect us. Would definitely stay here again, great value for money.
- Sherry (10/5): - Super wonderful and friendly host!
- Adirem (10/5): Great stay and excellent location, it’s possible to go walking to the coliseum’s - Price and location The bed and bathroom’s clothing could be cleaner
- Dana (8/5): Very good - Close to the train station, good neighborhood, close to main sightseeing. Can't say.
- Feride (5/5): It was good on average. It was clean and convenient, but the location was far to famous places. Home owner’s communicati -
- Barış (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrea (10/5): - The place os very food, the neighborhood a little awful and the other roomates very noisy
- Ferhat (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nino (9/5): Superb -
- Antonio (2/5): Avoid this place! - The only good thing about the property is the easy access to the underground. In summary:
The host randomly messaged me on WhatsApp asking for my ID for the check in, which I found a terrible approach as for what I know they could’ve been anyone.
As soon as me and my partner walked into the property there was a terrible smell which I believe comes from the sinks.
The shower had no tray and the floor had terrible stains which made me ski the shower in the morning.
The bed wasn’t a double but two single pushed together with a very thin and uncomfortable mattress and only two pillows! To finish it off there was a hair in the bed sheets.
- Tamari (7/5): Good - I liked everything. The host was super helpful and the stuff were friendly. Apartment is located near the Metro station and is very easy to navigate through city. I had a late flight and could not leave the bags at the property. I did not know about that before check-in in the property. It would be useful to know stuff like that beforehand
- Mari Kristine (4/5): - This was the cheapest place we could find during our stay in Rome and while the location was great (a few minutes walk to a bus stop and metro) and Muna was helpful and responds fast, the hotel cleanliness was questionable. When we checked in, there was some food wrapper and garbage left underneath the bed and there is a really bad smell (sewer smell) coming out of the drain in the bathroom, probably from the pipes. The walls are thin so you can hear everything. There was also a miscommunication regarding the city tax as they only accept cash which we were not informed ahead of time and no receipt was provided when we paid. There is no reception desk so you have to communicate with them via WhatsApp. If you don’t have a lot of budget this is passable but I would say, up your budget a little bit to get a better hotel and service.
- Nikita (7/5): Good -
- Jodi (6/5): - If you are looking for a place with a great location, this is a 10 minute walk to the main train terminal as well as a five minute walk to a subway station. Five minute walk to the grocery store. only complaint about this facility is lack of hot water. Five days of a cold slightly warm shower was rough. Also was never given new towels, so used the same towels for the whole trip put one towel on the floor to see if that would get us new towels, and all the person did was hang up the towel that had been on the floor , gross . Also hard to communicate with hotel when coming in to check in, they want you to use the WhatsApp for communication.
- Elhanfy (10/5): Exceptional - I like everything in the guest house The time of check out it must be 11 am or 12pm
Because 10 AM is so early
- Rana (8/5): - This affordable spot was in a great location that made walking around Rome convenient. The staff picked us up from the airport as well which was much appreciated. The room was very clean and we had no issues while there. I’d stay there again.
- Doireann (6/5): Great location and staff. Mattress needs to be replaced. - Location was. Great. Very close to Roma Termini. Easy access. Staff fantastic to deal with It was clean but the mattress was very thin and uncomfortable. Could hear the people above walking around.
- Gleb (9/5): Superb - Very nice guesthouse. You can find everything you need for a comfortable stay. The location is good 👍
- Silvia Edith (10/5): - Friendly and kind!
- Anthony (8/5): - Pros: Location 10-15 minute walk to Central Train Station and 10-15 minute walk to Colosseum and surrounding sites. The room was cute and had a comfortable bed with extra blankets. The host was fantastic and very accommodating. Allowed us to check in early which was a huge kudo.
Cons: The room was a bit small, but good enough for 2 people. Bathroom was tiny.
There was a full kitchen as a common area with 2 other rooms but did not use it. Overall good stay and fit what was needed for the time!!!
- Jerry (10/5): - I like that there is an actual person who attended to us.The room was clean and the apartment too. Its close to the termini easy for commuting. Thanks Rheanne for the breakfast and hospitality.
- Mira (8/5): - Muna, the host and who came to pick us up at the airport (for an extra fee) was friendly, responded very quickly to our questions via WhatsApp and was very hospitable. The location is close to the Termini and we were able to get around most places by bus in around 20-30 mins. The mattress and pillow is guest house level but things were clean.
- laura (6/5): Noisy - Apartment was okay, but very nosy. Woken up at 5am with banging, building work.
The night before was told off for planting music in the room when we weren’t even in the property. Which would be understandable given the poor thin walls to all building. Able to hear people talking on the stairs, outside and in other rooms
If you are a night owl and early bird, the property is for you but if you wish to actually get some sleep it’s sadly not
- John (10/5): - everything was great. great location, great welcome from the host … all in all a perfect stay.
- Celia (10/5): - Muna was an excellent host and her guest house was the perfect location for our couple nights in Rome. The location was close to the city center for such an affordable price! For a small additional fee, Muna picked us up at the airport and she provided us with many great recommendations. Thank you, Muna!
- Mamdooh (8/5): - The rooms were adequate but we only cared about sleeping and showering as we were always out. The property itself is old and is not maintained very well. The bathroom door doesn't lock and one of the windows is broken and always open which means air conditioning is useless in that room. The property is also like a tin can because we could hear our noisy neighbours all night. Although that was taken care of after a couple of complaints.
However, to be fair, Mona our host was extremely generous and her suggestions made a world of difference in our trip. She even took us out one day to a marvelous site and stayed to drive us back. The rest of the staff were also very helpful.
Without Mona, this would have been a very bad choice, but she made it all worth it. We had a great time in Rome.
Ciao!
