Guest Reviews
- Bob (6/5): - Staff was very certious and friendly. Although room was clean, bathroom was outdated and balcony off room was not clean.
Also, located over one mile from downtown where most restaurants and shops are located
- Jessica (10/5): - Great location, great views, nice ambiance, love all the plants and thoughtful details.
- Matthew Mckiernan or Jason (10/5): - Excellent value especially ocean view for the price
- Kristen (10/5): - Laguna Cove Hotel was a wonderful experience. The staff was super helpful and check in was easy. Enjoyed waking up to the sound of the waves each morning. Bathroom was spotless. And the extra unexpected amenities were such a nice touch. Will be back again.
- KC (10/5): - Ocean view and accommodating staff
- Rachael (8/5): - Cute, clean room, a little run down, wifi didn’t work. Definitely paying for the location and view vs the standard of the room. Overall would stay again.
- Michael (10/5): - Didn’t have an ocean view however the ocean was across the street, rooms might need to get insulation because you can hear your neighbor going to the bathroom lol
- Kristen (6/5): - It was very convenient, clean, and had a nice mattress. The late check in arranged ahead worked out great. We slept really well. It is quaint and charming, rather than modern and luxurious.
- deborah (8/5): - For the reasonable rate I wasn’t expecting a lot. The room was clean except for the floor on our first day. We were graciously given early check-in by a couple of hours, so perhaps cleaning was rushed. It did get cleaned the next morning. Otherwise comfortable, if very basic. Be nice when adjacent construction is done.
Location is great and was worth any inconvenience.
- Chris (8/5): - The room itself was adorable — very cottage-core, with a cozy charm. The location was excellent, and the balcony view of the ocean was absolutely breathtaking. I loved being able to keep the screen door open and fall asleep to the sound of the waves all night. The property overall was beautiful, spotless, and had a homey, welcoming vibe. It is a little dated in places, but that just added to the character for me. The only minor challenge was that the front desk closes at 10 PM, so check-in has to happen before then, which can be a bit tricky. Other than that, everything was truly wonderful. I would absolutely stay here again — and definitely plan to in the future!
- Rory (10/5): - Kind and professional staff. Nice and clean rooms but a little dated. Love the kitchen option in our room
- Debra (6/5): - We stay here last month. The room was much bigger than on this stay.
- Nikki (10/5): - C
- Julie (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay, great hotel! Thank you!
- Gail (8/5): - Good location for a beach hotel, albeit right on the very noisy PC HIGHWAY. A good budget option with no frills.
- Cindy (8/5): Not what I expected but ok - Beach view from our tiny bathroom window over construction. Room was ok- very small. The floor didn’t feel like it had’nt been swept for a while . The bathroom was also very small, no place to put toiletries. The shower door was so small I could barely get in and I’m not a big person. Very little hot water, it was lukewarm at best. Bed and pillows were ok. No breakfast provided, just coffee and tea.
- Adam (8/5): - I really liked how this was right next to the beach, but I hating that the only view we had of the ocean was blocked by an active construction site, when this is done there will no longer be any ocean view.
It also meant that we couldn't relax during the day in the room since that construction was loud an annoying.
The room itself was fine, beds were comfortable and clean, watching TV was pointless as they only offered a very limited set of cable channels with no guid, so it was a nice time travel back to 90s cable TV.
We were not here for the TV though and being close enough to walk to many restaurants and shops was nice, its just down the street from a public beach and every location were were there for was either wakable or within a very short drive.
Overall, when you add in the value, I would stay here again as the other options we looked at were 10-15 miles south and we would have had to drive around a lot more.
- Theresa (6/5): Just okay - We checked in and the check in was less than fun. The front desk person was not personable. I expected to pay a security fee. This staff member let us know that the fee was in case we stole anything. That was not how he explained that fee to the two separate people who checked in ahead of us. The housekeeping staff were very kind and helpful. I liked the plants around the property they made the place very pretty.
The room was what I expected but the shower was very small. Unfortunately the bathroom had an ant problem. We did not do breakfast the first day and we checked to see what time breakfast was as we weren’t told when we checked in. We were told it went till 11am. The following day we decided to go down and get something and all they had was coffee and yogurt.
The bed had a pillow top but the mattress felt too hard. We were also disappointed that there was no elevator. We are older and the stairs were manageable but it was hard with luggage
Overall this was an okay place to stay but I think we will choose someplace different in the future.
- Angela (8/5): - very comfortable hotel great location ac is great didn’t have much to watch on tv but didn’t mind only thing i disliked was the ants in the bathroom
- cherry (10/5): - Love the place.. close to the beach
- Jasmin (8/5): - Beautiful ocean view from balcony. However, once construction of building in front is completed the view won't be as stunning.
Old building but kept nicely with lots of plants.
Great parking.
Beach access close by.
- Celinda (10/5): Beautiful room - The suite was spacious, clean and had a beautiful ocean view. Loved the kitchen area and it was nice to have a couple couches as well. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely boutique hotel, loved our ocean view with balcony
- Gustavo (8/5): Basic but great location - The room is basic and nothing special. The outside is cuter than the inside. It’s a basic room that is located right next to the beach and minutes from great places to eat and shop. Wish the inside was a little more updated but great location and free parking !!!
- eric (8/5): - Really had a great night there, room is small but thats Laguna
- Maryna (10/5): - Amazing staff, very friendly - allowed me to park earlier and leave later than check out time. The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Laguna. Fantastic stay, would definitely recommend it to anyone!
- Michael (10/5): - Grreat views
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cute Laguna Hotel! - This hotel is very charming and cozy overall. Our bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, the AC was effective, and the property location was very convenient to the beach and the town. Unfortunately there were ants throughout our room sporadically and the bathroom was a bit tight despite the relatively high nightly price. Overall though, we enjoyed our stay.
- Sharon Ronny (4/5): - This hotel is not a hotel. It is a motel at best. The rooms are ridiculously small and while the view to the ocean is nice, there is construction going on in the house between the coast and the property, which doesn’t do much for the view. The check in policy also speaks to the type of property this is. Rather than a pleasant experience, all they do is make sure each and every policy is adhered too, much like when checking into a sleezy motel. Such a mistake and such a waste of money. My wife and I opted to leave early, so that we could get a good nights rest back home. Not at all the weekend getaway we were hoping for. Also, the location of the property is an extensive walk from the center of town.
- Lillian (10/5): - 2 minute walk from the beach! Wonderful staff.
- Patty (10/5): - Perfect place for a getaway
- Verified traveler (4/5): Don't let the pictures fool you. - Ants in the room, filthy lobby and construction noise.
- Shelley (10/5): - I love Laguna Beach and this hotel was just right. Not fancy but sweet with everything you need. Good location without being in the crowded center. The town trolley makes getting around easy and fun - leave your car at the hotel and walk or trolley. The lobby had lots of coffee and tea choices. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean with mini-kitchen. The view not great but sufficient. The beach was very close and convenient. I loved this property and will stay there next time.
- Julie (4/5): - The room appeared clean but is like an old updated motel room. I still felt the need to wipe it all down with handwipes.
The toilet was so close to the sink you barely had room. The shower was very small.
The first floor room was extremely noisy with people walking overhead at 2am in the morning.
Exterior grounds needed sweeping and the breakfast area and lobby looked umkempt.
Will not stay here again even tho reasonable price.
- Natalie (10/5): - Amazing
- Alison (2/5): Terrible - We had a terrible experience here. I don’t recommend this hotel at all. There are many options in Laguna and Dana Point that I would stay in. I’d rather sleep in my car.
- Wendy (4/5): - We booked for 3 nights and stayed 2. The pictures that were submitted for this property are deceiving. The rooms are very small and crowded. There are no good amenities. You get the usual stuff soap, shampoo etc. But if you look at the amenities listed, like coffeemaker, it’s a cheap one cup maker with paper cups and no creamer. The office area and reception is messy. There were dead flowers in vases in 3 areas, there is a one cup coffee maker, with cheap coffee and oat milk creamer that tastes like something I can’t explain.
But the worst thing about staying here was the advertised “ocean view”. Your ocean view is a view of 20 million dollar houses blocking the shoreline, with construction going on of another house. You get a wake up call at 7:15 am with pounding, grinding, sawing and shouting.
Your front view is of a busy road with endless traffic, and people. There is no grass anywhere to be found. If you bring your dog be aware that the nearest grass in across the street and down one block. Keep this in mind if you need to take your pup out in the middle of the night.
Laguna Beach in general was mediocre. The food everywhere was nothing special, there are people coming out of the woodwork, the traffic was horrendous.
Save yourself the stress and go somewhere else.
- Katherine (10/5): Review - Wonderful little hotel, love all the plants
- Isela (8/5): - Perfect stay for our wedding elopement. Walking distance to beach and nice coffee shops to walk to.
- Bhupinder (10/5): - Excellent
- Chris (8/5): Comfortable Bed - We really enjoyed our stay, the stairs down to the sand is only a few steps away! The bed was really comfortable.
We will stay again.
- Heather (10/5): - I'm tempted to gatekeep this charming hotel, but they asked for a review, so... it's great. Location, amenities, staff, rooms - no complaints. Will definitely stay here again.
- Greg (10/5): - It's right on the beach, close to some of my favorite restaurants overall Pleasant Boutique Hotel.
- Valerie (10/5): - Easy access for parking, it’s close to many beaches and super clean!
- Mina (10/5): - We booked this specific property because we had our furry friend with us and their pet fee was reasonable. Once we arrived, we were very pleased with the property and we walked to the Pageant. So convenient and walkable to restaurants & bars. We had an ocean view which had a patio. Very relaxing. Parking was included. We will definitely be back!
- Juan (6/5): - Location and the free parking are excellent. However, the floor was dirty, which we did not appreciate at all.
- Davontaye (10/5): - Great staff, clean rooms, and easy access to the beach. Would recommend to anyone - 10/10
- Adham (10/5): - Nice place but the walls are pretty thin
- Gabriel (8/5): - Great place with all the basics you need. Only downside is no shaders for curtains so everyone sees in if you want sun light. Love the coffee lobby area, and GREAT location
- Chris (10/5): - Property was very walkable. To the beach, dinning, etc.
place was quiet and clean.
Staff was ok, not very warm or inviting.
Maid service seemed to be frustrated, at what I’m not sure.
Overall was a good visit
- jesica (8/5): - Excellent location, cleaninles and service, just a bit noisy.
- James (10/5): - Beautiful views great staff great location OK good talking to you, Chad
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This hotel is an old property. No elevator to the second floor. We had the king bed with an ocean view and balcony which was nice. However a new house is being built right outside our balcony so noisy early in the morning. The room is very small and the walk-in shower is tiny. Free parking which is a plus and also Laguna Trolley close to hotel. $495/night is pretty pricey in our opinion.
- Lisa (10/5): - The property was charming. Much care is taken in small details. Coffee and danish in lobby in morning. P;ants and foliage all around, Got cheaper room with sliver of view. It was fine though! Good value.
- Ernesto (4/5): - Excellent location. Staff friendly. Owner needs to maintain property better.
- Estrella (2/5): - The rooms are so small and the pictures deceiving.
- Natalia (4/5): - Room is tiny, no space at all
Bathroom is very, very small.
Overall it is motel style property.
- nicole (10/5): - We stayed in the family suite and couldn't have asked for a better view/accommodations. 10/10!!!
- melanie (10/5): - Great location. The quiet end of town with my favorite uncrowded beach coves just steps away. Staff is excellent. Clean rooms! I’ll be back to stay again
- Michelle (10/5): - This was such a great place to stay. The room and area were very clean! Staff was helpful, hotel was centrally located to restaurants and some of the best beaches in Laguna. I would definitely recommend staying here!
- Samantha (4/5): - Nice location but for the price was not worth it. Not a luxurious hotel by any means, closer to a motel. Perfect if you’re looking to just crash somewhere for the night. No amenities really besides parking.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beachy quaint - Clean and can walk to the beach.
- Damir (10/5): Cozy and vintage - Great location , exactly perfect for few days
- Ruud (6/5): - The location of the hotel was perfect, with a stunning ocean view. The staff was very helpful, professional and friendly. We had a king ocean view room. The room was spacious, but quite outdated. The bed was not a full king, but that wasn't an issue. The rooms are not very well insulated, so it can be noisy. They have ear plugs in the room, so that wasn't a great sign. It wasn't very bad, apart from a few drunken guests arguing outside our door in the middle of the night... Overall it's an okay hotel, but considering what we paid (tax and fees included, more than $450 a night), it was disproportionate. Iwoute expect a more upgraded bathroom and much less noise. I don't think we'll stay here again.
- Kim (8/5): - Very cute hotel w ocean view! Everything was perfect; just the bed was not the most comfortable….but I would recommend it to others
- Hoang (10/5): - Nice stay in a good area with decent parking
- Chris (8/5): - Staff was wonderful. Beautiful area
- Eduardo (10/5): - Very nice, excellent location.
- Ana (8/5): - Excellent location
- David (8/5): - Close to beach, comfortable room.
Arrived early - told our room was ready and we could go use it if paid $35 early check in fee. Declined to pay even more for a room that was sitting waiting to be used but at least was allowed to park car there before check in.
- Natalie (10/5): - Loved our stay!!
- Samantha (10/5): - Great location and right next to the beach! Everything in walking distance!
- Kord (10/5): - I can't imagine anyone not liking Laguna Beach. A great little artsy community. This was a great hotel right near the beach. Walk down the stars and hit the sand and ocean.
- Yrla (10/5): Cute little boutique - Very cute little place . We definitely will stay here again .
- Ryan J (10/5): - Loved the fact that the property was right in the middle of where my wife and I could walk around and enjoy a nice dinner and grab a couple of cocktails! Great ocean view!
- David (6/5): - Very friendly staff and lobby open all day for tea or coffee. Easy parking at no extra cost. Beautiful landscaping with many potted plants.
- ROBERT (8/5): - Close to ocean
- Nicole (8/5): - Enjoying our 1 night stay here at Laguna Cove. Bed is incredibly comfortable. Rooms are cute but a tad small and walls are on the thinner side. Great view even from the first floor even though you see a construction site, right past that is just ocean. Very close to town and the trolley stop. Would come back for sure.
- Kimberly (8/5): views forever and walks to everywhere - We were in town for a wedding and stayed one night at an expensive resort. We wanted to extend our Laguna experience and found this waterfront hotel at a price we could afford. It is definitely from the Laguna I remember from my high school years and the room had everything you could need. The lobby had snacks and information and the view was the same view as the most expensive hotel.
- Patricia (8/5): - Beautifully furnished. sparkling clean room. There was construction out back--I wore earplugs with white noise and left room during the day which made it okay. You will hear costal highway traffic but it's not too bad. I found the mattress too soft to sleep so I flipped it and slept a lot better. Overall, a fantastic option for the price
- James (10/5): - Great option for reasonable prices in Laguna Beach
- MICHELLE (10/5): - The exterior of building was so beautiful, the sheets were very soft to touch, wonderdul treats in the morning to go with coffee , and lets not forget the 1 min walk to the beach. I have to come back .
- Erika (4/5): Cute but expected more - Looks so much bigger in the pictures. It’s a cozy small stay. Our Beach view was behind a construction site on the property behind of the hotel. The bathroom was pretty small and the sink water pressure was super slow. Also the walls are super thin we were hearing our next door neighbors til 3:00 am, we couldn’t notify anyone because the desk person isn’t available after a certain time at night.
- Robert (10/5): - Ezekiel at reception was fantastic and this quaint little property is a great place to stay
- Edgar (2/5): - Need so much repair, room around dirty dusty and the shower water not functioning well fluctuating between really hot or really cold. Strong sewer smell inside room called front desk no one available at night, when reported staff was rude and only ask to check out. Expedia has the wrong rating it should be 2 rating please update rating so everyone avoid this horrible hotel it was a real nightmare
- Pakou (6/5): - Good
- christian (10/5): - Right at the beach!
- Angelina (10/5): - Very friendly Front desk staff accompanied our request, nice place
- Verified traveler (10/5): Worth the money - For a cheaper hotel option right on the beach, this was well worth the money.
Freshly cleaned and great location. The early morning traffic on the street might be a bit loud but that wasn’t a huge issue for me. Front desk is very friendly and accommodating.
- John (10/5): - Everything about this place is perfect.
- Melanee (10/5): - This is such a darling little place to stay ♥️
- Isabel (8/5): - Great hotel!! Rooms could be a little cleaner but overall a great stay! It’s super cute and has a B&B type feel to it. The rooms are also decorated nicely and I thought it was a great building! Obviously could be a little newer but I had no issues with it! Thanks!
- Ivelis (10/5): - Very clean, quiet, and great location!
- Virginia (6/5): - The location is awesome! Steps to the beach.
I was in a room in the corner and it was loud with traffic. Not the best to get a nights sleep.
Very friendly staff and darling vintage motel.
- D Bradley (10/5): - y
- Amy (10/5): - Little hidden gem. Really nice rooms and right in the heart of Laguna. Will definitely be returning!!
- Brian (6/5): - Not a great stay, but not terrible either. The room was still a bit dirty in my opinion. Floor was a bit sticky and socks quickly became brown/black from walking on the floor. Construction going on right outside the back window so that’s something to be aware of.
Not bad, but I’d probably look elsewhere for the price point.
- Russel (8/5): - Walkable to nearby restaurants and stores.
Amenable staff about check-in times
- Maryann (8/5): - Property was wonderful for those who enjoy walking, beach access was perfectly close. Cute room with an ocean view. The staff was very nice, lobby had coffee n muffins. I walked everywhere from many restaurants to choose from, shopping and sight seeing. The price was very reasonable too
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cute place close to beach-pricey if you have a dog - Stayed one night. Cute hotel (exterior is more charming than the interior of the rooms but still nice). Comfy bed and pillows. Small tv but that was ok. Bathroom was very nice and updated with nice products provided. Small bistro table in room to eat or use laptop which was helpful. Deposit was $150 (a little high for the property imo). Convenient free parking right out your hotel door. Free cappucino in the morning in the lobby which was wonderful. Intense policy about dogs. It was like $55 a day plus they wanted dog vaccine records-over the top. We didn’t bring our dog on this trip but $50+ a day is nuts.
