Guest Reviews
- Darren (7/5): Good - It's a very nice room and pub with great staff. It just needs a little updating and there was no hot water but the shower had hot water. The bathroom looked newly fitted and modern.
- Steven (7/5): Good -
- Geraldine (5/5): Necessary - Helpful staff Coffee machine in bedroom didn’t work.
Breakfast was a joke, inedible.
- Samantha (7/5): Good - Great serve your own breakfast No hot water in the bathroom sink
- Christopher (6/5): Rooms ok staff excellent - Not what was expected continental
Expected english no evening food Food
- Catherine (6/5): Lovely room and staff, affordable price - The staff were fantastic, very welcoming and friendly, and because of them I would stay again.
The room was lovely and clean and comfortable. There was no hot water for the bath or sink, it was stone cold, and the shower only got tepid fluctuating between cold and tepid so I wasn't able to have a shower or a bath to freshen up ready for the day.......which wasn't good as I'd been out dancing the night I stayed.
There is no email on the website so I couldn't let them know.
- John (3/5): Closing down soon - and it shows - It was cheap - but I see why No food - no evening meal option with 5 miles, let alone at the pub. “Continental breakfast” means help yourself to cereal and toast.
No staff - when the pub shut the place was locked up, leaving me alone in the building overnight. . No staff at breakfast whatsoever.
No information - never got a WiFi code or any info about where to eat or how to work the “Fire TV”
- Rats2 (7/5): Good - It was a convenient location for where we needed to go and the pub was very nice. There was a Tassimo in the room for coffee and hot chocolate and quality biscuits. The self-service breakfast had a reasonable choice - crumpets, yoghurts, fruit, lots of preserves. The radiators weren't on and our room and the breakfast room were both cold; not suitable for relaxing in!
- Brian (4/5): Really let down and no feed back or support - We paid £90 for the BB and stayed for a friends party in the pub
No heating in the pub and so so cold
Shower running hot and cold and almost scaled the wife
Could not sleep during the night as so cold and thin bed cover
Not shown the breakfast room and went looking in the morning in a conservatory
No one around to see if we was OK in the morning
It was very cold and no heating in the breakfast room
Out of date bread and poor slection to choice from
Tried to make contact to complain and no one would return our calls
Very very dissapointed with our stay
Brian (Lancashire) The party in the pub
- Andy (4/5): Disappointing - The location was great for visiting BAE Lack of heating in the room. No hot running water for a wash in the morning. I didn't realise that there were no evening meal options available. I wasn't able to get the light on in the morning in the conservatory (also cold) for the cereal and toast breakfast.
This cost more than a good hotel in Manchester costs me.
- Matt (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (7/5): Good -
- David (3/5): Disappointing stay - Room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Wardrobe and drawer space good No hot water in bathroom sink or bath
No hot water from electric shower as pull cord didn't work
Annoyingly bright green glow from emergency lighting in bedroom
No heating from radiator in morning
Definition of continental breakfast differs from my understanding!
Staff on arrival not very informative
Cables supplying electricity to do it yourself kitchen area a hazard
Bedside table only on one side of the bed even though there was room
Power supply only on one side of bed
Have to go outside (in the rain) to let ourselves in to the do it yourselk breakfast room
Excessive music and noise from pub into the early hours
- Eamonn (7/5): Good - The breakfast was OK. There weren't enough teabags, and not enough water in the machine. We had to go outdoors to get to the breakfast room.
The bar is not a very warm or comfortable place in which to sit.
- Mike (9/5): Superb -
- Philip (8/5): Very good - The room and bathroom had been recently refurbished to a high standard. It was clean and well presented.
- Paul (6/5): Comfy, but forget wifi - Great room, staff friendly No WiFi in the room I had
- Jasmine (2/5): Problem after problem. Extortionate for what we got. - Location and friendly staff. Arrived to find bed without any covers etc, no toiletries due to miscommunication amongst staff. Cleaner had left the windows open for the past day so it was freezing. No hot water, no heating. Went to bed shivering and woke up achey and ready to leave asap. More pro-active solutions needed than the offer of ‘drink on the house’.
Breakfast is only cereal from the pantry, which we didn’t realise. Disappointing overall.
- Martin (7/5): Great location, Clean and tidy - The location was great, close to Blackburn but nice and quitet and easy to get to. The welcome was fantastic even though we arrived very late at night. The staff were super helpful and friendly. The bed was quite small for two, I am a >6 foot big guy though. It was very comfortable though. The room was a little on the chilly side, I didn't mind too much, but my other half is a hot house flower. We did only get 1 bath towel though, but probably just an oversite.
- Paul (10/5): Just a great overnight pub with rooms. - Super friendly staff clean and a great location for the scare Kingdom which was the reason for the stay. Nothing I didn't like
- Paul (10/5): Friendly and welcoming. - Fantastic stay. Staff were very friendly. Couldn’t do enough for us.
- Vicky (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elliot (5/5): Passable - very nice room ,friendly landlord
car parking on site ,cheap and cheerful
did exactly what I said on the tin
just needed somewhere too stay tbh nothing really ,served purpose no faults
- Andrew (8/5): Very good - Breakfast was pretty basic, similar to a hostel. I'd have appreciated some non-carb options.
- Nick (7/5): Good -
- Anne (5/5): Passable -
- Gordon (9/5): Superb - Convenient location - not too far from the M6
Car park
Friendly landlord Nothing
- Michael (8/5): Good hotel reasonably priced - I booked my son and daughter at the hotel and I am feeding back on their behalf. Friendly staff, clean room, very close to the wedding venue (Stanley Hotel). Would have liked tea and cofee making facilities in the room. No tea and coffee facilities in the room
- Gareth (7/5): Good -
- Karl (10/5): Friendly, good value and clean pub! - The landlord and landlady were very friendly, as were the locals. Nice pub with a good atmosphere. I was working at the BAE site close by, which is a very short walk from the pub. No complaints!
- Pam (10/5): Excellent value for money - Tea and coffee facilities were excellent and loved the flexible breakfast Lock was a bit dodgey but didn’t feel unsafe
- Jules (1/5): Bad -
- Kenneth (4/5): See above - It’s location…..we were visiting nearby relatives Rotten windows.3 items needed mains but only 2 sockets UNDER a desk…..difficult at 81.No hot water night or morning. No wi fi although manager gave us details but no access.breakfast was a joke. The manager was totally disinterested in his job.the pods for the coffee maker
Of which I have a photo said for use with flat white coffee….it’s actually milk.No coffee pods. When we discussed coffee machine with the manager his response was,I don’t know how they work,I’ve only been here since February
- Carolyn (7/5): Good location for Inch perfect trials - We were greeted and shown to the room by the landlord, who was very friendly. The rooms were very clean and spacious with a lovely shower. Breakfast was very easy as we were leaving early so we had a key for the breakfast room to help ourselves to continental breakfast. There was bread, various cereals, jams. Milk and butter in the fridge. Good large car park. The only problem with breakfast was there was no water in the kettle/water heater. So I had to go back to the room to get bottled water to use otherwise we could not make a hot drink. Maybe leave a few bottles in the breakfast area for people to top it up before use?
- Mohamed (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent service I am speechless I personally recommend thanks booking. Com I appreciate that thank for all staff of hotel I like everything
- Julie (8/5): Pleasant and clean pub in great location for us. Friendly staff. - Lovely pub, just what we needed for the night. Very friendly landlord. No complaints only that I’d booked and paid for a room specially with a bath. When I got up early for a bath there was no hot water at all.
So a shower it was, but that was lovely and hot. Just a little frustrating but didn’t spoil the stay!
- Jake (10/5): Fantastic! - It was a brilliant stay room had everything you need and more, faculties and the owner were both ace. Great stay! N/A
- Jones (7/5): Good - Very friendly staff, who were really helpful and couldn't do enough to help despite us arriving late in the evening after a wedding. The room was spotless and had everything we needed including a coffee machine and a smart tv. The bed was super comfy. Despite being above a pub the room was so quiet and we had a good sleep. Great place to stay, and will stay again if ever in the area. Thank you! Slight issue with early check in, but the owner apologised and even knocked a little off the room to say sorry.
Could do with blinds in the bathroom.
- Zachary (7/5): Lovely but needs to be better communicated. - Lovely room and nice facilities , however slightly concerning that no one was there for our check in despite ringing them in advance. And especially as it was for a wedding so we were on a tight schedule! They eventually turned up and we got there on time. No one was there for check in.
- Patricia (7/5): Very pleasant for our needs of just a comfortable room for the night. - The breakfast was fair, could have had a few more cereal options and needed replenishment. The water heater ran out of water twice. The location was great for visiting relatives. Needed more hot water available for breakfast.
- Marcos (9/5): Superb - Family run business, very welcoming. Lack of food service, being in a pub we expected to be able to have dinner. Instead we had to check in and go out again to get food. I'd just make this clear somewhere in the advert to manage expectations. Everything else was absolutely brilliant and will be staying here again for sure!
- Shirley (8/5): Very good - No hot water out off sink an bath..only shower
- Christopher (10/5): value for money, worth a stay there - location. owner was very friendly wifi wasn't great
- Barry (8/5): Could be a good bed and breakfast - Location was ideal. The pub is a drinking pub with no food served. There is, however a pleasant breakfast room with self serviced continental breakfast, toast, cereal, fruit and yoghurt. We were unlucky in that a fault had occurred with the hot water system. We had no hot water for 5 of our 6 day stay.
- Victoria (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely room, had everything we needed for our stay. Easy and convenient location, Great value for money and owner was lovely
- Karen (8/5): Very good - A well-priced room with off-street parking available. Our room was a reasonable size for 2 people for the night. There appears to be new management running the Fieldens Arms, with services being progressively introduced - we didn't think breakfast was available at the time of booking, but during our stay we could pay for a continental breakfast. No evening food was available on site, but we were aware of this. The wifi was strong in the bar and breakfast room, but very weak in our room which is where we want to use it mainly.
- Nicholas (4/5): Disappointing - Room was fairly clean No hot water in bathroom sink
Windows couldn't close properly
- Mary (10/5): Really excellent value for money. - I really liked how cheap this hotel was. Due to how cheap it was I wasnt expecting everything to be perfect but it exceeded my expecations. The man running the place as very friendly, there was a mix up with booking.com but he accomodated me really nicely. The room was clean and there was lots of extras provided in the room. I would hightly recommend.
- Birchall (9/5): Superb -
- Sheila. (8/5): Very good - The Feildens Arms was clean and comfortable .Landlord's friendly and helpful . They don't do breakfast or food, Can't fault them ,don't think they have been there very long.
- John (5/5): It was OK. I liked the landlord who was very friendly and good with his clientele. A busy pub. - No breakfast. Location was OK Breakfast would have been good
- Colin (5/5): basically a nice place that needs a bit more work - Nice attentive staff. Clean room No maid service, room cold , no hot water after second night. The pub has been shut for ages and has only recently reopened. I think that they are getting on their feet but they've a way to go
- Fiona (9/5): Superb - Very friendly, great value, superb location
- Jeal (7/5): Good -
- Liam (10/5): Comfortable room for the night with very nice staff. - Relaxed and comfortable
- Kaya (9/5): Superb - Staff at the hospital said really friendly
- Lister (6/5): Room was modern and clean, difficult not having breakfast available - No Breakfast available Room Service
- A (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kara (9/5): Superb - Staff were warm and friendly No facilities to make tea as only coffee machine.
- Ashraf (7/5): Overall good - not included Remote
- John (2/5): Please see last statement, this hotel needs some work doing, one door all boarded up, builders bag full of rubbish, all - I liked the look from the outside, restaurant menu looked good, and location Rooms were not ready when specified, check in was from 14:00 but we were told to return at 16:00 as rooms not ready. Restaurant was closed as was the pub, we had to then travel over a mile away for evening meal, shower did not work in one room, and there was no toilet roll in another, for the price we could have travelled further and stayed in a premier inn, but we always try to keep independent business going. Overall very poor..
- Glynis (8/5): We enjoyed our stay very nice couple running the hotel - Very hospitable Nothing
