Guest Reviews
- Rhidian (10/5): - Lovely house
- Jessica (10/5): The perfect Easter break 💛 - We have just got back from a wonderful stay at this cottage for Easter. It was myself, my partner and our two girls. It was a real home from home. Really cozy with the wood burning fire, comfortable beds and really well equipped, there wasn’t anything that we needed that the cottage didn’t have. Situated in the quiet Villiage of Trefor it was so lovely for us as we are used to busy city life. Really good base for various local places. We went Pwllheli, Abersoch and Criccieth whilst on our trip all 20-40 mins drive away from the cottage. My children especially loved Rabbit Farm which we visited on Easter Sunday which was extra special. We did an Easter egg hunt in the lovely garden with the stream at the end which was so special. We also were treated to some goats in the garden on our last morning just before we left. Brian met us with the keys and text us to check in and see how we were getting on during our stay which was so lovely. Gutted our lovely little trip is over, would definitely book again! Also parking was not an issue for us, if car park was full we found it easy to park on the right hand side of the road, no issues! Nothing at all. A local pub walkable would be a lovely addition to the villiage!
- Carly (10/5): Worth every penny - A lovely home from home experience. The beds are so comfy, the hosts are lovely , the house had everything you need for a wonderful stay . The village is peaceful and friendly and the local shop is handy too. I couldn't fault it here. I'd happily move in .
- VLAD (9/5): - Excellent location to visits around the area, nice hosts.
- Stephen (10/5): Lovely cottage on the Llyn - A very well-equipped cottage with a lovely little garden. Nice and warm. Comfortable. Peaceful. Everything worked properly! Helpful and friendly hosts live not far away.
Handy general stores less than 2 mins walk.. Great walking area.
- Fran (10/5): - Really lovely hosts
Great little cottage fitted with everything you needed
Parking sometimes a little tricky but managed to work it out
100% will be back
- Warburton (10/5): Lovely quiet cottage - The cottage was in a very quiet peaceful location, well decorated, shower was good, sofas and beds comfy. For two people it was everything we needed. It was nice to be able to sit in the little garden too. Easy to walk to the sea and nice walks around the area. Little shop had most things you might want. Parking was tricky, but to be expected in a little village .
- Ido (10/5): Most worth it - Nice owner, met us and gave us good tips. The apartment is great, you can walk to the beach and hiking trails from there. It was excellent
- Martin (10/5): Very nice place, nice little garden, great host. Fully recommend. -
- Horst Reiner (9/5): -
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tracey (9/5): A refreshing break in delightful surroundings. - The cottage is ideally situated in the heart of this traditional quarry workers’ village and very comfortable. You can enter the property from the back, via an outdoor space leading to the kitchen or from the front, where there is a delightful garden that lets onto a babbling brook. (Very soothing to fall asleep to at night)
The kitchen is well equipped and there is a very good shower in the bathroom. The bedrooms are attractively furnished with pretty Roman blinds and, most importantly, the beds are very comfortable.
Despite being a small cottage, it has plenty to offer. There is a dining table and a cosy sitting area with two sumptuous two seater sofas. We didn’t need to use the wood burner as we had such exceptionally good weather! No problems.
- Wendy (9/5): Very relaxed and enjoyable. - The accommodation was very comfortable with everything required for our stay. The location was perfect for coastal and hillside walks with wild flowers and fauna. The Ancient Iron Age Hillfort and quarries were of special interest. Couldn’t find fault.
- Gary (9/5): Excellent and quiet location, well placed for lots of lovely walks and visiting attractions. - The property was so cosy and well presented. It was a real home from home and we loved our stay. The area was in a beautiful location which was quiet and very picturesque. Nothing.
- Robert (9/5): Just what my sons & I needed as a great, comfortable base for a couple of days hiking. - Brian was very helpful & friendly. House is lovely - just as described.
- Janet (10/5): Enchanting autumn visit to Trefor - Totally enchanting cottage Everything was perfect
- Stephanie (10/5): excellent 👌 - absolutely everything it was super clean, host were great. The cottage decor etc was beautiful that I'm looking to change my home decor🙂 we cannot wait to come back already planning our next trip 100%
- Sharon (8/5): The cottage was nice and warm bedrooms cosy. Great to have a bath. The washing machine was handy. - Parking was a big issue, one evening we could not park and had to drive around the village we ended up parking and having a long walk
- Holly (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage was well equipped and in a great location. The host was extremely helpful and kind and the cottage was very comfortable and cosy!
- Stephan (9/5): Superb - Parking can be tricky, but we always found a place in the village.
- Danielle (10/5): Book this place, you definitely won't regret it. - Homely, quaint, comfortable cottage. Loved every second of the stay. Had everything we needed and the beds are SO comfy. Didn't stay long enough to finish the jigsaw 😤
- Jochen (9/5): Superb - Great location to explore the surrounding area, cottage had all we needed (ok to have no dishwasher for few days); very nice host.
- Debbie (9/5): Superb -
- Jon (9/5): An excellent base from which to explore the amazing scenery of North Wales - Lovely cottage, very cosy Not many facilities in the village
- Jona (9/5): Just the job. Very satisfied overall. - Location ideal for the LLyn Peninsula and for the Porthmadog & Caernarfon area. Village very quiet so sleeping with the window open not an issue. Cottage well appointed. Nearby parking was never an issue. A single electrical socket in the front bedroom not much use as the bedside light was plugged into it. I use my phone as an alarm clock and charge it up overnight, which I am sure is not uncommon. A double socket would have been useful.
- Et (9/5): Superb - Nice little cottage in a quiet location. Near a beach and handy for the coastal path. It's nice and warm. The bed is comfy. It's fine for 2 people. The downstairs bathroom could do with a fan and a bit of a refit generally.
As previously mentioned by guests, there should be some outside seating.
- Roslyn (9/5): Superb -
- Carran (8/5): Perfect location - This was a perfect location for some research. The quarry cottage was comfortable and cosy. The rooms were well maintained and the cottage well equipped.
- A. (9/5): Superb - Our hosts were amazing, very helpful, with detailed information and explanations what to see, where to go, what to discover in the surroundings. Brian was very nice, gave a lot of good advice!
The house is charming, very clean, in a nice, quiet area, perfect for visiting the region. There’s a parking area next to the house. If I come back in the region, I’ll definitely stay here again, I recommend it! The system for the shower was unknown, were a bit lost at the beginning. Fortunately our hosts have prepared a detailed description, we should have read it upon arrival. :)
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - We really enjoyed our stay, lots of little extras provided. Quality bedding & everything we could need for a lovely home from home trip.
- Lynne (9/5): Superb -
- Gavin (10/5): A lovely well catered for stay. Ideal location and really friendly hosts. Diolch yn Fawr. - Host were always on hand if needed and very friendly. Accommodation was exactly as advertised and location was brilliant. Nothing.
- Tracy (10/5): If your looking to Relax and recharge, look no further .. beautiful, quaint cottage - Really great communication from arrival to being greeted with the keys and a wealth of local knowledge to make our stay easier. The cottage is located within a 10 min (easy/ pushchair wheelchair friendly ) walk to the Harbour/Beach. Take a picnic there isn't any shops ( but i quite like that). Great for fishing too - straight off the Pier.
The cottage itself is beautiful and has everything you need. There is a a local shop within 5 mins walk reasonably priced again having everything you would need for your stay. I have already requested to book and looking forward to staying
Oh nearly didn't mention - the neighbours are friendly and lovely too :) provide outside seating .... but we had our own fold away chairs so we used them :)
- Elspeth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anne-kristin (10/5): Highly recommended! - Lovely and well equipped cottage in a small and quiet village. Close to everything you need like such as a small supermarket, quiet beaches and dark skies for stargazing. Brian was super friendly, waited for us at the crossroads so we didn't get lost and gave us great insider tips.
Parking can get a little tricky but with a small car there is always space.
- Louisa (9/5): Fairytale Welsh village stay - Cosy comfortable cottage from 1890 in a fairytale Welsh village. No vehicle traffic at the front or back of the cottage but instead a mountain stream, sheep passing by the front door and a beautiful garden.
The idyllic unspoilt village has a village store with long opening hours and a post office.
The short walk from the village to the beach is scented by dense wild orchids that grow shoulder high on either side of the path.
The owner checked regularly that everything was fine and that we could find our way, giving helpful instructions to find the street and cottage. In one bedroom the bed was too long so the door could only be partially closed.
In the other bedroom the noise from the water pipes meant that turning on taps in the kitchen or bathroom could wake up anyone sleeping in that room. Nevertheless these minor inconveniences wouldn't prevent us from booking this cottage again if visiting North Wales.
- Jenhawkins (9/5): Warm, welcoming and friendly. Would definitely stay again. - A truly lovely hidden gem in the heart of the Pen Lleyn. A short walk from the harbour and beach, with a lovely brook running through the garden. The cottage was cosy and welcoming with everything you could possibly need for a home from home stay. Brian & Jane have paid a lot of attention to detail and it shows. Warm, welcoming and friendly. Would definitely stay again. I can't think of anything, I had everything I needed and Brian and Jane were available if I needed to contact them.
- Richardson (10/5): Perfect Cottage - This cottage has a lovely peaceful atmosphere, it felt like home. There wasn't a sound during the nights, on a summer weekend in the centre of the village! All clean and comfortable especially the beds. Not being able to stay longer!
- Roberts (10/5): Perfect - I stayed at the Quarryman's Cottage while working on a TV production in Trefor and couldn't have asked for better hosts. Brian and Jane were very welcoming and arranged to leave the keys in a safe location so that I could check in late at 11pm. The cottage was perfect, it has a lovely homely feel to it and was cleaned to a very high standard. Listening to the river flowing outside while falling asleep was a highlight! The only downside is that I wasn't able to spend much time there due to work, but myself and my partner are looking forward to returning very soon for a holiday in Trefor.
Many thanks,
Calvin
- Peter (9/5): Superb - Beautiful little property, lovely location. Owner very charming and friendly No complaints
- Chloe (10/5): This place is amazing and I would definitely stay again! Everything was perfect!! - Amazing place! Amazing hosts!!! Nothing! Everything was perfect x
- Joanna (9/5): We would like to stay there again. - A pretty cottage with beautiful walks just outside the door and a stream at the bottom of the garden.
- Stacey (8/5): Fell in love with the cottage and village, a little piece of heaven - Beautiful well equipped cottage in a stunning location. The stream running along the bottom of the garden is just beautiful to listen to early morning or in bed at night. I don't think it mentions on the listing there's an iron and board, but there is. Wonderful locals, including the next door neighbour who met us on the lane as we were leaving to give my daughter some chocolate. Easy to reach the beach on foot, turn right out of the back door, to the bottom, turn left and walk until you get to the coach yard just down the street, turn right and follow the path to the pebble beach. If you want sandy just follow the coast just up round the corner to the right. Crabbing gear and some buckets and spades are provided at the cottage, as are several games for the children for when indoors.
My little girl loved it here, she was quite sad about leaving but I've promised her we will be back This is just to provide information for those that this is really important to due to mobility/health issues - Double bed mattress very soft, singles are firmer. The bedroom mirror is set atop drawers and not wall hung so you do have to bend to dry hair etc.
Would love to see an outdoor patio set on my next visit so I can sit outside with a coffee early morning to take in the tranquility and sound of the birds and stream, my bones are a bit too stiff to get up off the doorstep that early in the day 😂
- Stephen (8/5): It was over too soon! - The helpfulness of the property owner was much appreciated. After I'd met a flight at Manchester Airport, the journey to Trefor was complicated by closure of the M56 (and some less than helpful diversion signs) then closure of the A55 (upside-down HGV). The property owner kept in touch by text and nonetheless met us, late at night, at the village crossroads to show us to the property and hand over keys.
The property has a wealth of OS maps of various scales and much useful information about local amenities and places to eat.
The stream to the front of the house (the two sides of the 'street' face each other across front paths, gardens and the stream, not a road) was music to fall to sleep by.
Although there's no dedicated parking spot, we never had a problem parking near the property (on-street or in a small car park opposite) even if a bit of reversing up-hill was required.
The shore area is convenient, the views terrific, and things are well-signposted.
Access to the main road is simple and there are so many local places to visit and enjoy (Llanberis Slate Mine Museum was a favourite) that you're spoiled for choice. If you like coffee, bring your own French press. If you're very wide or have bad legs, the staircase could be an adventure - it's steeper than those in newer houses (although it didn't bother us).
- Worrall (9/5): perfect stay, great hosts. - cost and warm, great lication with good facilities
- Adam (9/5): Fabulous friendly hosts made us welcome and we had a lovely relaxing holiday in just a weekend. - The hosts were increadibly friendly, helpful and flexible, with excellent communication. Lovely people. The village is friendly and not at all touristy, yet within a stones throw of amazing beaches, mountains and the attractions of North Wales. Great location. Street parking was hard to find one evening without a fairly long walk.
- Dawn (9/5): Fabulous stay with amazing weather - Great location
- Stephanie (10/5): A cosy home from home - The owners left plenty of logs and coal for the log burner, plenty of cleaning products and little things like salt, cooking oil, coffee etc. I find that so helpful and lacking in many properties. The cottage feels loved and cared for with quality curtains, blinds and bedding. Plenty of books/boardgames etc.
The owner kindly allowed us early access because the weather was pretty bad that day, he even got the fire going before we arrived. Nothing really to dislike, I'd have to be picky and say take a pair of slippers, although the cottage was lovely and warm the hard flooring was really cold, even when the fire was going in the evening.
Older travellers might need reminding that the stairs are steep and the bathroom is downstairs!!!!
- James (9/5): Superb - A pleasant cottage, very cosy. Good access for walks along the coastal path.
- Iola (10/5): Exceptional - This is a beautiful property, really peaceful with very comfortable beds! We spent a lovely weekend here and we would heartily recommend it. I couldn't fault a thing.
- Julie (8/5): very enjoyable, great host very accommodating - great little cottage, very comfortable, clean and well equipped well equipped and great location
- Esther (9/5): Superb -
- Richard (10/5): lovely cottage, lovely location, lovely hosts - it was a lovely little cottage the only thing (if I’m being picky) the kitchen tap was dripping
- Linda (10/5): little break - everything..home from home..perfect..loved it Nothing
- Darryl (10/5): Exceptional - Cleanliness was outstanding as were the hosts There was literally nothing we didn't like.
- Goetzee (9/5): Superb - All the communication with Brian and Jane was very helpful and very friendly. The cottage was warm, cosy and comfortable. The village was interesting and everyone we passed was friendly. Our walks to the beach in moonlight and starlight were lovely. We enjoyed nearby Pwllheli and Abersoch and their coastal paths. We hope to return.
- William (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lesley (9/5): Very enjoyable stay lovely cottage and super area - Brian the host was great meeting us at the cottage to explain everything and messages us the next day to see if everything was OK
- Lee (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable and everything we needed
- Victoria (9/5): Superb -
- Jo (9/5): We had a fabulous holiday in a beautiful part of Wales, we would highly recommend. - The cottage was very cosy and well equipped. The beds were comfortable, we slept well. The bathroom has a shower and a bath, which suited us. The living areas were comfy and made it easy to relax. Brian met us and was very helpful, ensuring that we settled in straight away, he was also a font of knowledge for the area! There was a slight issue with a hot tap but this was quickly sorted by Brian, who was always contactable and checked in via text to ensure our stay was going smoothly.
The cottage is situated perfectly to explore the surrounding area, with many beautiful walks and short drives to a range of interesting places. We stayed for a fortnight and still didn't manage to fit in everything we wanted to! We loved the 10 minute walk to the local beach. The only very slight drawback is that the bathroom is downstairs. However, this is an old quarryman's cottage and that is part of the charm, so to move the bathroom would be tricky I imagine!
- Craig (9/5): Superb -
- Zynell (10/5): Exceptional Holiday Home - Exceptional holiday home. Everything outstanding. Lovely village. Brian host was fab . Gave lots info and made our stay very enjoyable. Defo will not be disappointed if you want a home from home with out of world scenery. Tranquil & serene part of Wales. A++++++ Not a thing
- Sandra (9/5): It was a relaxing break, quiet area and beautiful cottage - The location was perfect as it was in the middles of some lovely places to visit, 20 minutes and you were there. Window locks but no key
- Mrs Allison (10/5): - We couldn't fault the accomodation
All round would recommend
- Hilda (10/5): - The prpoerty was cosy, warm and had everythjng we needed. It was also very quaint and homely.x
- Sharleen (8/5): Cottage by the sea - Lovely last minute stay at Trefor. Brian met us at the cottage and welcomed us. He gave us a lot of useful information about the local area. We would love to come back very soon.
- Derek (8/5): Quarryman Cottage review - Quiet village to retreat to, to use as a base to see the wonderful llyn peninsula beaches, coastal walk and villages. Lovely garden to relax in with the river flowing on by. Very clean and all you need for a stay away. Brian was great on welcoming us to the cottage, informing us on all things to do and what to see. A very pleasant stay away, highly recommend.
- Craig (10/5): A lovely short trip away - We really enjoyed our stay at this quaint cottage which provided the home comforts needed for a pleasant family holiday; a log burner and a cosy, comfortable front room. The two bedrooms provided a restful night for the whole family and were very comfortable. The comfort and facilities were outstanding. The cottage was very homely and welcoming to come back to after a long day of sight seeing plus the location of the cottage - with good parking - was stunning, providing lots of fun activities and sights nearby to be enjoyed by all ages. We enjoyed activities such as taking the train up Mount Snowdon, visiting the slate museum and visiting numerous beautiful beaches which all provided breathtaking views ,which is perfect for some beautiful memorable photographs which were all just a short drive away. The locals were also very welcoming and friendly. The wild life and stream at the end of the front garden was the perfect setting for a relaxing holiday which we all thoroughly enjoyed. It was very quiet and peaceful! Brian the owner of the cottage was very polite and helpful and the maps provided for us in the cottage were extremely useful for some of the activities we did during our stay. They were also great at recommending places to visit which was very useful. They also dealt with any query’s immediately and were always ready to help! This is a real must for family’s that love the outdoors as there’s beautiful scenery right at your doorstep.
