Guest Reviews
- John (10/5): - Unfortunately I made a mistake and put down the wrong month. My fault totally. I tried to rebook for the month of May but it was unavailable. My loss. I can only give top marks since I would be childish to do any less. Kind regards, John
- Inna (7/5): -
- Josephine (10/5): A beautiful 2 bedroom apartment- with a wonderful pool and other activities for the family. -
- Gene (8/5): -
- Tanya (10/5): -
- Owen (8/5): - Clean room and very nice amenities with multiple outside sitting areas. Traffic noise was excessive particularly in the front bedrooms. No staff on premises, but replies to questions were returned very quickly.
- christopher (8/5): Clean convenient accommodation with lots of parking - Great old building which had lots of parking. Clean well appointed bedroom. Having no staff onsite and a grab a pot of porridge in the morning, lacked a personal touch
- Beth (8/5): - I might have missed it but would have been nice to have something directing us to local shops and restaurants. The room was lovely and the trail was nice by the creek. Only negative with the traffic noise from the Hwy. We had a front room that faced it. I really liked that you had several fire pits available for the guest including the wood.
- Pam (10/5): Awesome! - We loved this beautiful mountain inn. The room is spotless and well-appointed, with a splendidly comfortable bed. The front porch is a fabulous place to sit in a rocker and watch the world go by. The creekside trail is a lovely walk with picnic spots to use as desired. The outdoor hot tub is a joy to the senses and tired muscles. It's very quiet with Blue Mountain Brewery just 5 minutes down the road for good food and brews, also featuring live music on Wednesdays. You can also play billiards or chess in the game room. We loved it.
- Frederic (10/5): I had a truly wonderful stay – warm hospitality, beautiful surroundings, and total relaxation from s - The inn is beautifully maintained, with charming decor that perfectly captures the spirit of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains.
The room was spotless, comfortable, and thoughtfully appointed with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. A truly and peaceful and rejuvenating experience. I was disappointed by the lack of nearby amenities. There are no supermarkets or restaurants within a convenient distance, which made it difficult to grab a quick meal or pick up essentials without having to drive quite a bit.
- Shaylin (1/5): Stressful - It had a bed They charged me $279 for a pet cleaning fee because they found very minimal mounts of cat fur that had come from my luggage and then told me that they couldn't help me with it and refused to take my calls. DO NOT STAY HERE if you have pets
- Simon (6/5): - over priced. over priced.
- Giles (10/5): Idyllic! - It was a dream! Mountains, hot tub, poolside, privacy, felt like “home.” We’ll be back :) Nothing we didn’t like!
- Noemi (10/5): - The property was beautiful and it literally had everything we needed and more! They even had a firstaid kit which was useful after finding some ticks from our Shenandoah hike. Loved the pla e and will definately be back!
- Howard W. (8/5): - Tastefully decorated, peaceful property located away from the hub bub but still close to many attractions.
- Susan (10/5): - Enjoyed our stay at your beautiful. Only negative, we couldn’t get the fireplace to work.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Winery weekend - Checkin was easy. Snacks and kitchen area were nice. Nice touches like white noise machine, eye masks, etc were a really unexpected and nice touch.
Our room was a bit cramped, and it would’ve been nice to have some plates and cutlery in the kitchen. The microwave was way too loud too. We felt like we were disturbing everyone, every time we used it.
- Nikita (10/5): - Great place!
- Katherine (10/5): - Such a beautiful property, exactly as described. Comfortable and charming.
- Olympia (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Olympia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hannah (10/5): Loved it! - Amazing stay! There are plenty of great amenities.
- Julius (8/5): Very good -
- heydi (8/5): - Clean and remodeled room.
- Charlotte (9/5): Great location but need to bring your own breakfast - Location. Pool and commons area have nice chairs and games No breakfast included despite being half hour plus drive in opposite direction of Shenandoah Parkway.
Had to buy breakfast foods after dinner in town
- Richard (10/5): - Loved that it had more of a private hotel like feel rather than a bed and breakfast!
- Philipp (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jeff (10/5): Lovely facility! Enjoyed our stay! - We had Otis Spunkmier muffins and ice cream A bit expensive for our budget
- Hale (10/5): Absolutely perfect!!! - We absolutely loved the Afton Mountain Inn and we are going back in August!!!
- Nicolas (9/5): Superb -
- Rutu (10/5): - It was an experience that felt better than staying in a hotel. It had its own unique, home-like atmosphere that felt very comfortable. The digital locks on the front door and the room door was very convenient and made me
Feel secure. They provided eye masks, wine glasses, a wine cooler, and so much more. Cleanliness was impeccable.
- Deborah (9/5): Superb - A breakfast service would be great
- Lynsey (10/5): Fantastic place to stay - Lovely room, great facilities. Great location for where we wanted to be.
- Melissa (10/5): Gorgeous, relaxing getaway in the middle of the mountains - The pool and hot tubs, the fire pits, the walking trail, the location, the bed, the shower, keyless entry, rocking chairs on the patio, proximity to wineries and breweries and hiking trails, responsive staff via texts / messaging! More pool towels, muffins in the freezer were frozen :)
- Frederick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melissa (8/5): Quaint stay in the mountains near breweries and vineyards. - I liked the self check in process. Additionally, the property was gorgeous. Our room didn’t have a closet, but it did have a rack for us to hang up our suit and dress.
- Erin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mike (7/5): Good - Was good for the bare bones purpose we needed. Not really any breakfast to speak of. The Hall lights shone brightly in our room all night.
- Christopher (8/5): Beautiful, comfortable place, needs some fine tuning. - Bed very comfortable; grounds and building were beautiful; staff very responsive; good WiFi; quiet at night; great location. Keyless entry system was buggy; room A/C had an error code (E7) and did not work; shower drains very slowly.
- Joshua (9/5): We loved our stay! -
- Claire (10/5): Exceptional -
- Theresa (7/5): Nice spot for sleeping & showering. - Breakfast is prepackaged muffins. Closet has a small wine fridge with a coffee maker— silly use of space with coffee supplies in snack room. Your things just sit on the floor. There is no staff present on site, which isn’t horrible. It is very quiet, even with a small family above us. Nice spot if you’re just sleeping & showering. See above.
- William (10/5): Beautiful Convenient Home - Historic home with recent updates. Many nice amenities set this home apart. A pool, hiking trail, swing, multiple firepits, a freezer with ice cream! Our room #4 was very nice and comfortable but the bathroom is a little small. They had a coffee bar with probably 30 different kinds of coffee.
- Chris (8/5): - Great location for visiting Nelson county hiking trails, wineries and breweries. Room was great, loved the fireplaces outside. Ice cream was a nice touch. Would have been nice, though, to have an actual ice maker (the one there was not working) and a refrigerator.
- Paul (4/5): Never Again !!!!!!! - No one there…..NO ONE. Called to ask how we could access the building. We’re given a code that did not work, then given one that did. We then needed a code for the room we reserved. Since we were then given different codes, we decided to leave the door open while we brought a small amount of items in from the car. We were the only people in the building/ house. Never again ! Also, extra charges were applied to the price. We did not realize it because we only had Cell service while outside. They should at least have a human greet you upon arrival. Very strange overall !!!!!!!
- Brian (10/5): Start for Blue Ridge Parkway - We enjoyed the ease of checking in, the snacks were good. No breakfast, but we didn't expect it. The walk to the creek was really nice and was enjoyed with our coffee. We stayed here at the start of our blue ridge parkway drive. Would highly recommend.
- Sharon (10/5): - This is a primo property rental. It met and exceeded my expectation. Immaculate, the smallest detail was taken care of, beautiful room, divine bed, gorgeous property. What can i say...PERFECT!
- Mark (10/5): - Our stay at the Afton Mountain Inn was peaceful and lovely with many beautiful outdoor spots to enjoy the property - the pool area, fire pit, patio. When we had an issue with the entry code, the staff was responsive and resolved our issue quickly. We enjoyed the location as it is near multiple vineyards, Blue Mountain Brewing and an easy drive to Waynesboro and Charlottesville. The room was nicely appointed with some modern furnishings that still felt right at home in the historic property.
It should be noted, there is no staff member on duty generally at the Inn. We only saw one staff member on the morning we checked out, so it is something of a hands off approach to service. That said, most things were well stocked and we wanted for little during our stay.
- Lisa (10/5): Incredibly gorgeous boutique hotel in the mountains! - Everything was perfect! I am so excited to have found this gem which is located in a very convenient spot in Afton, Virginia. It is obvious that a lot of love and hard work went into making this house absolutely spectacular. The beds alone are a reason to visit - so comfortable I almost wanted to sleep away the day. Already looking at dates to return as soon as possible.
- Philip (10/5): - Not a B&B, but was a very comfortable nights stay in a convenient location to much hiking, wineries, and breweries. The self-service aspect of the property worked well. The property management team was very accessible via text and quickly helped with our 2 contacts. The furnishings inside and out of the property are well kept and there is a nice hiking path on property down to a nearby creek.
- Gayle (10/5): Love it! - Beautiful place with everything you need to have an enjoyable stay.
- Sean (10/5): - We loved it and can’t wait to come back!
- Jeanine (10/5): - Lovely, warm-hearted hosts who not only run this B&B with professional efficiency, but also make the. best. cookies. And serve breakfasts considerate of dietary preferences that are delicious, and served with flair. The beds are ultra comfortable and linens immaculate. Nestled into the mountains, you'll be glad you chose this jewel.
- Matt (10/5): - I loved the character of the home, the story and history behind the room names. The hosts were wonderful and explained everything. It was very clean, had all the towels and things we needed. There was even a dispenser in the shower for body wash, shampoo and conditioner. There was so much care put into our stay, it truly felt like home. We cant wait to visit again!! Highly recommended.
- Keith (10/5): Delightful Afton B&B - Very lovely restored circa 1848 home. The B&B was very clean and amply furnished with period pieces. There were 2 very comfortable public rooms on the first floor. A large front porch with rocking chairs and a second floor porch in the rear of the house with comfortable seating. Our room was very comfortable with tasteful decor and luxurious linens and bath robes.
We were served a delicious breakfast consisting of fruit juice, a small cup of yogurt with banana slices and granola. We had an unlimited supply of pecan pancakes. Two bacon strips or a chicken sausage accompanied the pancakes and of fresh roasted coffee. I would highly recommend this lovely B&B.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I cannot say enough good things about this B&B. The hosts were gracious and accommodating. You can tell the owners put a lot of thought into making the accommodations functional for a traveler. We had everything we needed for our stay. The breakfast was divine and the house oozed with character. We will definitely plan a trip back to
The Afton area to stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Our room was beautiful and so clean and a great place for a wonderful night's rest. Our hostess was so kind and helpful and served us a delicious breakfast! Morning coffee was outside our door when we awaken! Highly recommend Afton Mountain Bed and Breakfast!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property was well kept, great old trees, gardens, and very eco friendly.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The building was beautiful, particularly the outside and the common areas. Given it’s location in the mountains, the building site was disappointing. It lacked views, and was on a busy road. The food was delicious, truly exceptional!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property was beautiful and well managed. The room was comfortable and clean.
- Marty (10/5): Marty and Melissa Baker - We enjoyed our quick getaway before the holiday season begins! We are both 'essential' workers as well as caregivers for my mentally disabled brother-in-law. Needless to say - we have high stress levels. The accommodations were lovely and the food excellent. The only negative comment I will share is that the room did not look at all like the picture. I had something different in my mind, and was a bit disappointed. The website and brochures should be updated. Overall, it was a nice getaway.
- Yannick (10/5): Best! - We loved everything! There is nothing to complain about! The house is beautiful and immaculate! I appreciated that the owners were very cautious about Covid-19 by wearing a mask and keeping social distancing. Their homemade breakfast was very delicious. The bed was so comfortable and clean. I wish I could stay a few days more.
- Cozette (10/5): - Front porch view was fabulous. Location great, breakfast wonderful and hosts lovely!
- ArleneandMel (10/5): - Scenic. Ecologically friendly. Lovely little stream surrounding this magically old house built in the mid 1800s. Great restoration of every knock and cranny.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Best breakfast ever. Knowledgeable and thoughful owners.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The owners were very friendly, helpful and considerate. It was a great place to stay for our weekend getaway.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - An awesome cook is there with some of the best food i’ve Ever eaten
- Vanessa (10/5): - The owners were friendly and the breakfast was delicious. They made the best pumpkin bread I ever tasted.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Our bathroom was quirky but quite functional. Breakfast was great and Orquida and Dan were very hospitable. A very pleasant short stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful room. Friendly hosts. Tasty breakfast. We were welcomed by the hosts and any dietary considerations were taken into account. The pool was refreshing.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place. Very cozy and comfortable. Breakfast was amazing!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice owners. Lovely old house
Pretty grounds.
Even swimming pool
Highly recommend
- Verified traveler (10/5): B&B Delight - Great B&B, wonderful host, charming area, well kept establishment. Delicious breakfast. Thank you for the hospitality!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasant stay! - We were very happy meeting the inn keepers who were warm and kind. Our room was very “tight” with sink in the bedroom but doable. Breakfast was delish and well executed. The home is huge and upkeep is clearly tough.
- Emily (10/5): Great place to relax - We had a great time at Afton Mountain Bed & Breakfast. Orquita and Dan were welcoming and warm but also left us to enjoy the peaceful setting. The food was great, and the facility was spotless, with a comfortable bed. It's the best night of sleep we've gotten for awhile. We'll be back!
- Zachary (10/5): Perfect Romantic Getaway - Orquida and Dan were wonderful hosts. Tje house was beautiful, location was near many wineries and breweries, the scenery was picturesque, and the breakfast was delicious. We will definitely return. Thank you Dan and Orquida!
- Luis&Caro (10/5): - The actual house is a jewel.
The room was exquisitely furnished. Orquida and Dan were outstanding hosts.
Breakfast was amazing!
- ronald (8/5): Almost Heaven (but not West Virginia!) - This is a beautiful property with welcoming hosts. As it was my first ever stay in a Bed and Breakfast, my expectations may simply be out of line, but I was surprised that we could not have breakfast before 8:30 AM and that the main dish for breakfast actually did not come to the table until almost 9 AM. I was also surprised that our room had no TV (in public living room only) and that my request for a small amount of ice for my six pack cooler (for the next day's drive) seemed an unwelcome surprise to the proprietor. Otherwise, it was lovely. The food was excellent and the room was a bit small but quite comfortable. The setting was lovely and only a few miles off of Skyline Drive and the Blueridge Parkway. Lots of wineries and a brewpub with very good food just 2 miles away.
- Gary (10/5): - Beautiful place and nice owners. Very private. Nice comfortable rooms.
- Gene (10/5): - We highly recommend this Bed & Breakfast! A highlight of our trip!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing hosts. Great location, quiet and beautiful. And really close to the beginning of Blue Ridge Parkway.
