Guest Reviews
- Rory (10/5): Excellent house, hosts and location. Highly Recommend. - Beautifully updated traditional home in a quiet neighborhood near Nijo Castle. Very close to metro stations so easy to get wherever you'd like to go across the city and easy to get to from Kyoto Station via public transportation.
Great hosts. Very responsive to questions we had before arriving. Happened to get into town a bit before our scheduled check in and they were able to meet us at the house and let us in so we could throw our luggage down and go explore.
Tons of great restaurants in the area and more off the beaten path that felt way less "touristy". Made for a great experience in Kyoto. Traditional beds that are on the floor. A little more cushioning would have been nice but a quibble in comparison to all the great things the house had to offer.

- Thomas (10/5): Great modern townhouse in the heart of Kyoto. - Great location just across Nijo-Jo. Modern Japanese design for this 3 bedrooms - 1 bathroom townhouse. Exceptional hosting team ! Thanks a lot Kevin for your help during the stay.
- Midori (10/5): Amazing experiences and memories thanks to this wonderful accommodation. - The place was absolutely beautiful and well-kept. The rooms were clean, all the amenities we needed were prepared for us, and the location was also close to some historical landmarks and buildings such as Nijo Castle and Kyoto Imperial Gardens.
- Tory (10/5): - Love love love this place!!! So amazing - the tradition of a machiya with beautifully renovated features. So much space and gorgeous decor. Around the corner from Nijo-jo castle and walking distance from other sights. The house is perfect and a unique experience- far better than a hotel room
- MO (10/5): - Beautiful traditional house, with sensitive modern design insertions. The sleeping rooms were pleasant and large, kitchen was useful, and the bathing room was the best. The staff was friendly and efficient on check in and very responsive when we had questions during our stay.
The location, really close to the entrance to the Nijō castle was in a nice neighborhood slightly removed from the main tourist areas, but easily accessible by subway or walking.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved everything about this calming property. The history mixed with contemporary style and traditional touches. We appreciated the daily cleaning, the air conditioning, daily supply of fresh ground coffee, fabulous bathroom, quality bedding and we quickly got used to the firm futons. We had amazing sushi 3 blocks up the road and good ramen at the main crossroads. There was a lack of comfortable (western style) seating but we spent most of our time exploring beautiful Kyoto.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The caretakers greatest is personally upon arrival and showed us how to use all of the appliances. It was a cold night and they made sure the heat was all on and the beds warm.
We liked the unique layout lush bathroom and comfy Japanese style bedding.
The location was a bit far from the action but was also quite and lots close for food.
- Morten (10/5): - Perfect place to stay in Kyoto. Would recommend it for everybody.
