- Denise (10/5): - Top of the bill were John and Val, our hosts. To quote John, guests arrive as strangers but leave as friends and this was certainly our experience with this charming couple. We enjoyed the most wonderful breakfast ever, delicious and cooked to order starting with a stunning fruit salad. The room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. We hope to return as soon as possible. Everything was perfect
- Guest (10/5): Lovely. - A lovely couple, who looked after us very well and offered sage advice about the area. The weather. :D

- Pauline (10/5): Great find - Our stay was excellent John & Val were lovely interesting hosts the location was great, the room & en-suite spotlessly clean & well equipped, breakfast was superb with a great choice of cereals, fruit & hot food. We will definitely return
Grazie!

The little touches that made it special like the warm welcome, the thoughtful details and the amazing breakfast. Although it is on the edge of the village it's within easy reach of most interesting and wonderful walks. Nothing
- Andrew (9/5): One of the most comfortable/quiet places we stayed at doing this leg of our walk. - Home from home exactly fits John and Val's BandB. They are a lovely couple that clearly enjoy what they do and go out of their way to ensure you have a good stay. We were walking the South West Coast Path and John very kindly came and picked us up (took us back the next morning) from Hartland quay hotel which is approx 2 miles away from the path. We would highly recommend walkers to stay here. Nothing.
- Tracy (10/5): Fab U Lous - Fabulous stay, fabulous hosts. This is the sort of place that we don’t want to tell people about for fear we can’t get in next time we want to stay! Fantastic place, Val and John can’t do enough for their guests including giving us lifts to the start and from the end of our coastal path walks and even to the pub so that we wouldn’t be late. Our dog was treated like royalty so that’s the final tick for the 5 star rating as she is absolutely the most important guest and light of our lives. A 1000 thank yous - especially from Marple.
- Alexandria (10/5): Perfect location, clean, friendly place to stay - Great location, immaculately clean and comfortable, 3 pubs within walking distance, delightfully helpful hosts, excellent breakfasts! Loved my stay. Not one thing.

John kindly drove us to and from Hartland Quay, before and after our walk as well as back from the pub that evening (as it was pouring with rain) all of which were above and beyond what we would ever expect. The breakfast was the best we had throughout our entire 5 day stay along the SW coast path, just delicious and accompanied by much laughter as John and Val relayed hilarious tales of their years living and working in France. Ooh la la!!!
- Anthony (10/5): The best b&b we have stayed in. - Room was very comfortable, small fridge allowed fresh milk for tea, breakfasts were amazing and Val and John couldn’t have been more friendly or supportive, extending to lifts into and from the village for meals.
- Peter (10/5): John and Val were super friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was superb. - Close to pubs and restaurants. Nothing.
- Keith (10/5): Our one nights stay can be summed up simply as fabulous. - The B&B was located in a quiet spot just outside Hartland Village. It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable with everything we needed for our short stay.
The full English breakfast was delicious and set us up for the day. Thank you to John and Val who are excellent hosts. Our stay was excellent, there were no negatives.
- Simone (10/5): Exceptional - The house is really nice as the room! The breakfast is amazing and the owners are very kind! It was really beautiful spent a night there!

- Jean (10/5): Lovely, quiet and comfortable. - We loved our stay at John and Val's, who are lovely and friendly people. We could have spent hours listening to their fascinating past lives, and in particular 10 exceptionnal years spent in France. The location is super quiet and the rooms are perfectly clean, tidy and comfortable. The bathroom in our room was large and bright. The breakfast was exceptional, in particular the fresh fruit salad. The location is very convenient, with many things to visit in the area, in particular the Hartland Quay and Clovelly, and wonderful seaside walks. Bude's beaches were pleasant. We strongly recommend the place! It was all perfect, nothing to mention.
- Sharon (10/5): Excellent hosts, very comfortable accommodation - Great breakfast, fresh fruit salad, cereals, yogurts, toast, assorted drinks, cooked to order hot breakfast with wide choice. Towels and bedding changed during our 5 day stay, room cleaned every day. Very knowledgeable hosts in respect of the local area. Lifts offered to start and end points of our planned coastal walks. Very good choice of local eateries for the size of the village within easy walking distance, friendly staff and 'locals' in the pub. Very friendly hosts, highly recommended. We wouldn't hesitate to visit again. No negatives
- Janet (10/5): Very nice comfortable small BB, nice, welcoming and knowledgeable hosts, and great breakfasts. - Very comfortable BnB, Val and John were very welcoming and helpful. They knew a lot about the local area, which was useful as I was walking. Breakfasts were great! Nothing

A good breakfast with lots of choices. And the owners kindly arranged to give me a lift close to the start for my day's walk. Definitely the model for all other b&b's.
- Katherine (9/5): Homely place from which to explore Hartlands coastline - Lovely welcome. Situated in a quiet cul-de-sac. Delicious breakfast with lots of choice. Within driving distance of beautiful areas and coastal walks. Val and John are very helpful and offer an open home style which is friendly and kind. Nothing to add.

John and Val were so kind and caring, giving exceptional customer care that exceeded all expectations
- Alexey (10/5): Do not look any further - We walked the Coast Path and booked our stay on the same day. John contacted us in the afternoon, offering to collect us from the path and reserve a table at a local pub. It was cold and rainy, and we had been on the trail all day. John met us at Hartland Point at 9pm. Upon our arrival, Val kindly prepared tasty sandwiches since the pubs were closed. The room was cozy, warm, and spotlessly clean, with all the amenities one could wish for. Breakfast was delicious. The kindness and care shown by Val and John made our experience at Home from Home truly stand out among the hundreds of places we’ve stayed before.
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional - Val and John were excellent hosts. They couldn't do enough for us. They were very friendly and we felt at home. Nothing

Walking the SWCP, we were a few miles from Hartland but John came and picked us up from the Quay. John and Val couldn't have been more helpful and their guest room is thoughtfully and beautifully presented. Highly recommended!
- Anaelle (10/5): Loved it - Lovely stay.
The bathroom is very spacious, with a nice bath and is squeaky clean.
The room is very cosy with a biscuits and tea set.

Location perfect to explore the area

- Diva (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (10/5): Wonderful, friendly hosts, exceptional quality accomodation & breakfast in beautiful surroundings. - From the moment I stepped through the front Door of Home from Home B&B, I was made exceptionally welcome by John & Val, the owners, nothing was too much for them to ensure my stay was pleasant & comfortable. The accommodation was spotless, exceptionally comfortable. Superb range of items available for breakfast, the full English was beautiful, the croissants, fresh & flaky and a fresh fruit salad to follow was delicious. John & Val were so easy to communicate with, a minefield of local information for those visiting on Holiday. I can categorically say that this is one of the finest B&B’s I have ever stayed in & I have stayed in quite few around the world. A Very apt name “Home from Home” because that is what it is. The WiFi was provided free of charge, everything just perfect, 10/10 👍
- Vivien (10/5): Highly recommended B&B in the region - We made an unforgottable weekend trip on Hartland Heritage Coast and Clovelly on the first weekend of March and spent an overnight at Val and John's lovely home. They were lovely and friendly, hospitable and courteous, also they are very welcomed our cat as well on no extra charge and she got some treats and cuddle at the breakfast too.
The room was really neat and tidy, quiet and cozy, nice furnished and Val and John couldn't have been any nicer.
In the room we found many information about the attractions in the area and menu offers of the local pubs and restaurants with their price. The breakfast was perfect and fantastic, freshly made by Val in her kitchen and served by John. I eat gluten free and it was not a problem to serve me the very best homemade gluten free bread from their neighbourhood. Val and John were brilliant hosts and the all place is true to its name "Home from Home". 🙂 I wish we could have stayed longer. ☺️
- Chris (10/5): Home from home is the Ideal name. - Everything was perfect. Jon and Val go out their way to please you in every aspect.

- Peter (10/5): Couldn’t have had better hosts or a better base for exploring North Devon! - Val and John were wonderful welcoming hosts. Very knowledgeable about the area, they were very helpful in our search for ancestral evidence. The breakfasts were lovely - great choices, fresh fruit. Good advice on evening meals nearby. As for the room - spotless, very comfortable, and the best sleeps we’ve had in ages! No complaints.

They let me have a small freezer in my room to store the specialist milk I had brought with me.
A good sized bedroom and bathroom.
Lovely fluffy towels. Nothing.
- Hughes (10/5): Amazing people, lovely house - Stayed here whilst doing the SW coast path and don't think you can find a better B&B experience. The owners are amazing people that really go above and beyond. John knows lots about the local area and gave up a lot of his time giving advice on where I could stay further along the coast. John also gave me a list into the village for dinner and a lift back to the coast to avoid adding on more walking time.
The room was spotless and very comfortable.
The breakfast was fantastic and both John and Val really made sure I had everything I needed for the walk ahead.
Will make sure to come back if I am in the area again!
- Ralph (10/5): Definitely the best stay of the year! - Best breakfast this year!

Breakfast excellent, with plenty of selection.
Wonderful hosts who had excellent local knowledge and stories.
thank you John and Val for a lovely stay. The property is slightly further from the town centre than we had realised which was a slight issue due to my wife having a slight difficulty walking longer distances, but fine for more able bodied, not a criticism only a personal issue.
- John (9/5): Everything you would need for a relaxing stay - Comfortable with all the facilities needed for a relaxing stay’. Excellent breakfast, nothing too much trouble Welcoming owners
- Christoph (10/5): Val and John are excellent hosts. We enjoyed the stay very much! - Val and John are excellent hosts. We enjoyed the stay very much! Everything was perfect
- Jane (10/5): Hartland is a very beautiful place and we really enjoyed our stay at 'Home from Home B&B' - John and Val are lovely people and their cooked breakfast was exceptional including so many choices. I thought their fresh fruit salad was gorgeous, plus I absolutely loved the fried bread which had plenty of seasoning. ALL of the items I chose that Val gave me were really amazing. They both go to such a lot of effort to make your welcome excellent, and the whole of the house including the bathroom and bedroom were very light, airy and spotlessly clean. Thank you John and Val we had such a lovely stay and we really appreciate it!!
We saw Harland Quay where they filmed Rebecca 2019, Docton Mill for it's beautiful gardens and cream teas, and Spekes Mill nearby (an enormous waterfall, which unfortunately I hadn't realised until John told me) and Hartland Village. All was EXCELLENT
- Janice (10/5): Really enjoyable stay in lovely comfortable ensuite room with very welcoming and helpful hosts - Lovely comfortable ensuite room in John and Val's beautiful home tucked away in a peaceful close in Hartland village. An ideal stopover at the end of our walk on the SW Coast Path from Clovelly to Hartland Quay. We decided to walk the 3 miles up from the Quay but John would have been very happy to collect us in his car. We arrived hot and tired and John kindly booked a table for us at the local Anchor Inn and gave us a lift there once we'd showered. An excellent breakfast the next morning included fresh fruit salad and a choice of cooked options, and set us up for the bus journey back to Northam to collect our car. John and Val are marvellous hosts and nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommended.
- Gill (10/5): Lovely stay - a real gem - Lovely, friendly hosts offering exactly what it says on the tin “a home from home”. Comfortable and clean with a fantastic breakfast . The location is brilliant. Thank you we will definitely stay again. It was lovely just as it is.

We would stay here again. Nothing.
- Sally (10/5): Very comfortable and friendly B&B - Our hosts were very friendly and made many helpful and practical suggestions about places to visit. The bed was just right and the breakfasts were lovely. All in all this B&B certainly lived up to its name. Maybe a blackout blind would be useful in the front room as the morning sun was bright even through curtains and an ordinary blind! However, this did not diminish our enjoyment of staying there one bit.
- Tt_vienna (10/5): Exceptional - Just lovely hosts - made us feel so very welcome! Great breakfast & lift from and back to the coast path was very much appreciated, thank you, John!
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional - Spotlessly clean and comfortable accommodation. Great welcome by John and Val who are super friendly hosts. Nothing too much trouble. Nothing

- Sam (10/5): impeccable, pristine, home from home ❤️ - turning up as a couple of extremely tattood people, there was no prejudice at all. John and Val are amazing people. the house is impeccable. super clean, tidy, well thought out with stunning rooms. the breakfast was amazing! I particularly loved the fruit salad! got to see lovely photos that they had taken of the area and also got told of some local places to visit. our dog was well thought of and she loved John, because he was the man with the treats. lovely bathroom with a sea view and we also saw an incredible sunset. definitely coming back! 5* I didn’t like the fact I couldn’t stay longer.
- Gavin (10/5): High quality value for money establishment backed by outstanding hosts - Our hosts Val and John are a great team who put the guest above all things. Nothing was too much trouble, they recommended a range of pub restaurants - the one we went to had a great menu and served very good food, they advised on walking trips and degree of difficulty, and advised on places to visit supported by a comprehensive range of informative brochures to help us in choosing what to do. The choice at breakfast time was comprehensive, high quality food was very apparent and where nutritional content was thoughtfully considered. The bathroom was spotless and everything worked superbly. To cap it all our hosts waved us goodbye, now that is genuine service! We liked it all
- Mike (10/5): John and Val were lovely hosts, very attentive and friendly. A very satisfying three days. - Great hosts, comfortable bed, lovely breakfasts. Nothing to dislike.
- Marion (10/5): A perfect place to stay. - The property is immaculate, there are lovely details like separate glasses for hot chocolate, situated in a nice close just up from Hartland village. But the main thing is that John and Val were such good yet relaxed company, welcoming and helpful, it was like being at home, even though we were there just for one night. It was as good as one could realistically expect, in other word extremely good.
- Jenny (10/5): Exceptional - Exceptional service Nothing
