Rooms are nice and spacious, we had mystic mountain our room. Unbelievable great views from our balcony. The jacuzzi tub in the huge bathroom was awesome. Breakfast was wonderful sitting out on the nice deck enjoying nature. Can't wait to go back.
MICHAEL (10/5): Great Cabin in the North Carolina Woods!! - Very charming 5 room B&B outside of Boone, NC. Very traditional looking cabin but in tip top shape with lots of features and a great view. John and Marsha and their team make you feel comfortable and at home. Internet is great, a pleasant surprise in the woods. Delicious breakfast but the only nit is that I would like some fruit (not just juice) for breakfast. Add some berries, melons, bananas or apples. Will make a huge difference. We would definitely stay here again.

The room was on the second floor which require a fairly steep flight of stairs. It is central to the area; Blowing Rock, Boone,Banner Elk, etc.

John and Marsha were friendly hosts and happy to provide information about the area. Complimentary drinks and snacks were welcome. It was the most expensive bed and breakfast that we stayed in on our road trip and we didn’t feel that it provided the same quality of breakfast and home made extras that other bed and breakfasts did.

The Lodge was beautifully decorated, super clean, comfortable and had amazing views of the mountains. The breakfast was very good and the snacks and drinks were a welcome touch. Maria (10/5): - Attention was given to every detail including exceptional sheets, the best soaps and shampoo, and a refrigerator stocked with complimentary sodas, flavored waters, and beer, as well as snack foods and coffee and tea. The facility was immaculate and provided beautiful mountain views as well as a relaxing front garden. Our only negative thoughts were regarding the breakfast. While the morning's menu was posted the day before, and the food both days was really good, it was a light meal and you weren't given options unless you said you had a restricted diet. I understand that with a fixed menu you can save on food costs and not have waste, but even a choice of cereal with milk or a couple eggs in addition to the delicious prepared menu would have provided inexpensive yet valued options.

The owners are friendly and helpful with directions and suggestions for activities and dining. In addition to breakfast, they provide all-day snacks and beverages as well as use of a fridge and microwave for the guests. I will definitely book with them again next time I'm in the area.

The pillows were the nicest I’ve had anywhere including my own. The location was beautiful and felt remote, though only a few miles from Boone. Beverages are free and available 24/7. My only complaint, which I include because I don’t trust totally positive reviews, was the shower bench was a bit narrow for my size, but since it too, was a pleasant surprise, I guess I fail at seeing a down side.
Barbara (10/5): Wonderful Escape from the 2020 Craziness - The Lazy Bear Lodge was a wonderful escape from the 2020 craziness. John and Marsha have created a beautiful haven in the mountains, with luxurious, cozy and most importantly comfortable furnishings. We peeked into all but one of the rooms. Our room had a balcony with beautiful mountain views, but I would not hesitate to book the rooms on the other side, overlooking the amazing garden in front of the Inn. Even though there is no balcony, there are lots of beautiful spots in the common areas and the large deck to enjoy the vistas. Breakfast was five star, and for dinner there are so many great restaurants in Boone and Blowing Rock. We’re hoping to carve out some time for a return visit to Lazy Bear with some friends. I highly recommend you book- and I’m very picky!

The whole place has been beautifully redecorated (in a thoughtful, elegant, modern cabin style) since the current owners, Marsha and John took over. The location is convenient to Boone and Blowing Rock and out of town enough to be serene and special. Marsha and John were friendly and helpful. They offered excellent suggestions for restaurants, day excursions, and directions. There is a guest fridge on the main level in which to store personal items, as well as another fridge with complimentary beverages. Breakfasts were flavorful and creative. We were served ham, red pepper and cheese strata with croissants, and fruit smoothie one day and cornmeal waffles with cinnamon butter, sausage, and fruit juice the next. Fresh cookies were offered each day as well. The bed and linens were luxurious and extremely comfortable. Our room (Mystic Mountain) had a whirlpool tub and private deck. This is a beautiful home with fantastic accommodations and amenities. We hope to return.
