Guest Reviews
- Roderick (10/5): - Great breakfast. Friendly staff. Beautiful sea view rooms. Excellent food.
- Arthur (10/5): Total satisfaction with my stay at The Osborne - First time at the Osborne won’t be the last had a lovely room facing the Clyde Breakfast was amazing The staff were very helpful Everything was clean and tidy They did evening meals and takeaways The food looked very nice It is a proper pub bar with darts and a TV for other sports There is a large selection of beers and other drinks also free parking I enjoyed everything about my stay Thanks to the management and especially the bar staff who were hard working and always had a smile Mr A Gordon
- mary (10/5): - Fabulous location on north Bank of The Clyde with great views both ways.
Superb food.
Friendly staff and owner.
My single room had a great view and was very well appointed - clean, decent shower, comfy bed, TV.
- Kathleen (10/5): Holiday break at Dunoon - Stayed at hotel for 2 nights to visit friends.
Our hosts Pete and Elliot went out their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Would be more than happy to recommend and would definitely book again. Room spotless and breakfast delicious.
- Allan (8/5): - Friendly staff.
- David (10/5): Great find, highly recommended! - What a fabulous find! We decided on a last minute overnight and luckily found this great place. Really friendly welcome - the owners both work in the business - Pete front of house and Elliot is the chef responsible for the excellent food.
We were in room 3, which was very spacious, with a settee at the foot of the very comfortable bed. The view over the Firth of Clyde is beautiful and it was lovely to wake in the morning and be able to enjoy it. The restaurant is really popular with locals and was fully booked but Pete sorted it out and we enjoyed an excellent, freshly prepared dinner.
Wine and drinks were reasonably priced.
The breakfast was also exceptional with beautiful prepared fresh fruit to start and cereals and an almost endless choice of cooked food to follow.
- Robert (10/5): - Excellent 3 night stay at the Osbourne.
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. Pete & the front of house staff could not do enough & Elliott's crew in the kitchen produced some excellent food. Many thanks.
Florence & Bob..

Bedroom airy and bright, very clean, fantastic view. Bed a bit hard,
Would recommend, and would stay again.
- Mason (10/5): - Great property. Restaurant and bar was my favorite on our trip in Scotland. Pete the owner was very friendly and made our stay worth it. We would definitely stay there again if we go back to Dunoon.
- Jaime (10/5): - I cannot convey enough just how much Pete Ramsay and his incredible staff and local patrons were invaluable to me and my group of 5 people. I'm so grateful to have found this incredible establishment to spend a night at. Next time, I'll spend several nights in the company of these amazing angels that rose to our aid. Due to unforseen circumstances leading to a disabled rental car, Pete, Suzy, Elliot and others graciously helped us thru this sticky situation, and even tho we missed our dinner reservations, they made sure we had dinner thru another establishment that night, and fed us an amazing breakfast the next morning. The rooms we rented were fabulous, cozy and the beds were so comfortable! I had no hesitation leaving a generous tip for these angels who did not hesitate to rescue us. I definitely recommend The Osborne, and I will definitely be back, as they have my heart! And I would like to repay them with an easy fun visit! :)
- Wendy (10/5): - The owners and staff were amazingly helpful.
- Melanie (10/5): - The owner of the Osborne was excellent! He was very friendly when answering my questions before arrival and then introduced himself the first time he saw us. The bar was lovely as was the room. Very clean, spacious and had everything you would need.
When we arrived for breakfast there was a lovely table set with fresh fruit, croissants, juice and tea/coffee was offered straight away. He then took our order for a cooked breakfast which was lovely.
I couldnt fault the stay here and would definitely book here again when I'm back in Dunoon.
- Christine (10/5): - Nice little hotel in great location. , looking over the water. The owner Pete was very friendly, nice food , big breakfast.Would recommend highly. Thanks Pete for a great stay
- Timothy (10/5): Ideal break - Pete and Elliot provided the warmest of welcomes, and couldn't be better hosts. The situation of the hotel on the seafront is exquisite, and very relaxing for a short break.
Breakfast was great, and the evening menu delicious.
The room was of a good size with a very comfortable mattress on the bed.
Highly recommended all in all and we can't wait to go back
- Ian (2/5): Poor -
Sorry that you decided not to stay with us. The oil-filled radiator in your room is more than adequate to heat the room to a high temperature. The Restaurant is closed tonight as The Chef is entitled to a couple of days off holiday. Very well deserved
This response is laughable, cold room, no food as advertised, asked for a refund, no refund hence this review, well, you keep your £60.
- Alan (10/5): - Excellent staff. Couldn’t be more helpful. Wonderful food and views exceptional. A very good overnight stay.
- William (10/5): Great food great hosts great beer - What a great stay I was made to feel very welcome by Pete and Elliot who are excellent hosts. They are very good at what they do and their customer service is second to none . I will definitely return at some point
- Gordon (10/5): - Lovely quaint hotel with many original features warm and inviting on a wet night with the log burner on
- Maureen (10/5): Fabulous Stay in The Osborne - This first class accommodation is only a short drive from Dunoon. Our room had a beautiful view across the loch, was immaculately clean, very comfortable bed. The breakfast was excellent, fresh fruit, croissants, cereal and full Scottish breakfast freshly cooked. Restaurant food was superb. Pete and Elliot(owners) were very welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this accomodation.
- Jacqueline (10/5): A little gem - This was a lovely hotel . The staff were friendly the food excellent the view fabulous . We didn’t want to leave . Believe me if you don’t have a good time I would be most surprised .
- Marilyn (10/5): - Terrific host, Pete is one of the best ever and full of useful local information. This combined with wholesome, delicious food, wonderfully and carefully prepared by Elliot. From the outside, the Osborne looks like many a B&B with bar and restaurant but you have the splendid addition of sea views stretching across the bay and up and down the Clyde. Inside it's a warm, very friendly bar and restaurant, full of life and chatter with the most helfpul, attentive staff. The bedroom was fine, warm and cosy with great sea views including seals and birds on the wing. You can choose to be quiet and relaxed at The Osborne as well as enjoy the ambience of excellent food, drink and conversation. We loved it!
- David (10/5): Great place to stay and eat. - Excellent place to stay - extremely friendly and helpful staff.
Clean rooms and excellent meal at night and breakfast in the morning.
- Thomas (10/5): - It was old but very tastefully done we liked it very much.

- Phil (10/5): Great little hotel for exploring the western area - Excellent little hotel, the host Pete was extremely welcoming, and did everything he could to make our stay great. Good bar, and great food by the chef Elliott.
All done in a covid-safe manner.
- Neil (10/5): Little Gem - Lovely little hotel. Nice people, great food including an amazing breakfast.
Heartily Recommended
- Si (10/5): Great find - Great little inn. Good location on the Clyde (lovely view from my window). Evening meal was excellent and breakfast was too.
Would definitely return.
A real gem.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Pete & Elliott made us most welcome and they were the perfect hosts, our room was clean and bright with a fantastic view, the food in the restaurant was top notch especially Elliotts currys. We wouldn’t hesitate returning to the Osborne in the future.
- Carol (10/5): Great spot and so friendly. - Really friendly hosts, great spot and fabulous views. Room was really comfy and clean. Food lovely with fresh fruit for breakfast everyday.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Welcoming owners and staff. High standards of cleanliness. Fantastic food. Great base for exploring the surrounding area.
- Ian (10/5): "A Room with a view" - Fantastic host Peter made sure our stay was just right. The view from the room was amazing. Excellent food in the restaurant, and a great breakfast. Would recommend a stay to anyone. Its not 5 stars, that's not what it's about, but Peter will go above and beyond to make your stay memorable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Pete was exceptionally helpful and a very nice bloke. He obviously has many years of hospitality experience and it shows.
There are a few downfalls with the property, but compared to other properties, they aren’t deal breakers. I’ve stayed in 4 star establishments that have lesser facilities.
The views are stunning, especially from the dining room. The locals are friendly :-). I would stay here again.
- Karen&Jim (10/5): - We love Pete and Elliott, the owners! Pete was so personable and friendly, made us feel welcome the minute we stepped through the doors and Elliott is friendly as well and a fantastic cook! The pub was fun to interact with the locals, which we were hoping to experience. The Osborne is just a little from down town, so quiet enough for us to relax and close enough to enjoy live music at in the downtown pubs. There was nothing we did not like about our stay at tge Osborne and would definitely stay at this facility again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We absolutely loved it! Pete was very friendly and helpful. There is a restaurant pub downstairs that was a fun way to end the night. The views are stunning.
- Harold (10/5): Argyll Rally Weekend - Couldn't me more helpful.
Food / service excellent
Breakfast more than enough.
We will be back
- Peter (10/5): Great stay by the sea - From the time we arrived until we left we were lòked after like family. Pete is an amazing host, excellent breakfasts and dinner in the restaurant. Wonderful views aaccros the water.
- MMC(SS)retired (10/5): - EXCELLENT, sums it up, Recently renovated the hotel is in great shape. The bar a nice local feel to get a taste of Scotland. With our reservation, the owner made us a reservation for supper at the hotel. We could not have been happier with the meal. 5 star at a reasonable price. The room had a great view of the firth, quiet, comfortable bed and new instant hot shower... all great. The next morning a standard Scottish breakfast was included. while enjoying breakfast and the scenery of the water, we spy a British submarine returning to home port transiting up the firth. Really brought me back to my US Navy days at Holy Loch.
If you are visiting for the first time or renewing your time in Holy Loch with a visit to the Osborne... you will not be disappointed.
On a two week visit to UK, the day spent driving around Loch Long and ending at the Osborne was our favorite... 5 STARS all around
