Excellent service, very friendly staff

- Vicki (10/5): Samawa Seaside Resort is everything you want in a stay in Sumbawa, great accommodation, great staff and beautiful outloo - Fantastic position, great staff, great food ,great pool and the 2 bedroom cottage was beautiful! Nothing
- Wisam (10/5): -
- Brooks (10/5): Relaxing and beautiful stay in paradise with awesome adventures - We loved our 3 nights at Samawa Seaside Resort. Our room was so comfortable and the staff were lovely. We had a very relaxing time and an opportunity to chill out in such a beautiful setting. We did a snorkelling trip, whale shark trip and visit to moyo island. Everything was so well organised by the team at the resort our guide Rini was excellent. The pool is lovely and food in restaurant delicious. We hope to come back soon!
- Andrew (9/5): Great resort - Rustic and comfortable
Staff were excellent
Good value
Good location

- Kerie (8/5): I would definitely stay there again, but it could be so much better with a little bit of maintenance. Other than that th - The staff were very friendly and the grounds and attention to detail were very nice. The food was very tasty. I think back in the day it would’ve been amazing, but there are a lot of things that need some maintenance.
- Lila (5/5): - The cottage is out dated. The bathroom (shower, toilet) were not working properly. The toilet was broken, they tried to fix it but we still not able to use it. It's really a pity, due to the quality of the bathroom, made the experience less enjoyable. Mostly the bathroom condition. We also noticed we cannot use the water to brush our teeth and we asked for an additional bottle water, the resort still did not give us an extra bottle water.
- Annie (8/5): Fun memorable experience - Food was fresh, amazing staff very friendly Pool had green algae
- Carmel (7/5): Nice place , beautiful setting but please improve bathrooms - Staff, setting excellent , gardens , snorkelling trips , breakfast very good complaints resolved quickly Very poor maintenance and condition of bathrooms , quality of food for lunch and dinner average
- Irfanudin Thoha (10/5): Nice, quite, great place - Suasan tenang, sejuk dengan pemandangan yang hijau, staff ramah, checkin mudah, wifi diseluruh area resort berfungsi dengan baik, bangunan klasik terawat, cottage 2 kamar yang saya tempati cukup bersih, AC dingin, tv+indihome, kasur nyaman +kelambu, shower air panas dingin berfungsi baik, pencahayaan kamar redup temaram menambah suasana syahdu, cocok untuk anda yang ingin ketenangan, sy bisa parkirkan kendaraan di samping cottage, sarapan pilihan tidak banyak tetapi rasanya enak, love it all, check out juga mudah Tidak bisa merasakan semua fasilitas karena cuaca banyak hujan, pintu geser kamar mandi 602 agak susah digeser

- Nurhuda hazwani (10/5): - Good service from hotel staffs. Tempat yang tenang dan private. Bilik bersih selesa. Makanan pun sedap2
- Yulia (1/5): Nightmare don’t stay in this resort. - We had very bad experience with this resort, the facilities dirty, the toilets smell really bad and there’s a lot of bugs inside and outside bad rooms, we checked out early to move to another hotel… we can’t stand the night, we afraid the bugs gonna crawling inside the beds. Errrrrggggg Please see above
- Iris Caterina (9/5): - Nettes Hotel mit hübschen Bungalows. Das Personal war sehr freundlich. Die Massage im SPA war super.
- Frank (8/5): Great stay. We look forward to returning one day - The manager was outstanding, always on the site and caring perfectly for us Too much dust in the room, particularly on the lamps
- Virginie (7/5): -
- Yana (5/5): Not worth the money. Don’t fall for the photos - There aren’t many accommodation options on Sumbawa Island, and we chose this place mainly for its convenient location close to the whale shark trips. The property has a very beautiful garden, and the food in the restaurant was surprisingly good. The highlight, however, was the manager — exceptionally friendly and genuinely lovely. Unfortunately, the property itself is extremely run down and definitely not worth the price. Our room — especially the bathroom — smelled terrible, and because the hotel was fully booked, we couldn’t change rooms. The pool looked beautiful at first glance but was completely unusable, as it was full of algae. When I raised this issue with the staff, I was told they would let the cleaning team know, but nothing was done during the two days we were there. In fact, guests continued swimming in it, which is quite dangerous given that many visitors are divers with small cuts — a serious infection risk.
We also tried the spa a couple of times, but the massages were disappointing. The therapist seemed to need more training, and the massage room itself felt dirty, with old, musty towels.
The fridge in our room was mouldy, and overall everything felt neglected and unhygienic — I honestly didn’t feel comfortable touching most surfaces.
It’s such a shame, because the hotel has a lot of potential. The garden, location, and staff friendliness could make it wonderful, but it’s clear that the owners have let the place fall into a very poor state of maintenance and cleanliness.

- Pierluigi (9/5): - confermo i giudizi positivi niente
- Jason (9/5): We had a wonderful time here and loved the friendly staff. We would recommend this resort highly! - Friendly staff, great excursions, nice pool, great location
- Tatyana (6/5): - The staff was great and welcoming. The scenery of the hotel is very nice and beautiful. The hut looked great from the outside. Breakfast was good. The sheets had stains, the bathroom (shower/sink) was not in a great condition. Towels had stains.
In camera abbiamo trovate moltissime zanzare. Il personale si è prodigato per rimediare. In piscina 5 lettino in tutto, teli piscina e biancheria macchiata.
- Charlie (3/5): Overpriced, underdelivered. - The staff were friendly The rooms were much less clean than advertised. Our room was missing a shower door, the lampshades were taped together, the fridge had rust in it, and there was rot and mould in the bathroom. Overall, for marketing themselves as a fancy place, it was a let down.
More practically, it is quite far from town, so you are limited in what you can do unless you have your own mode of transport, and it is much more expensive than other alternatives.
- Sean (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melanie (3/5): Sadly, we couldn't wait to leave.. it did not feel clean. We even had a cockroach in the bathroom. - the location is great and really this place has the potential to be something incredible! The staff were extremely friendly and kind. Sadly, this resort is completely run down. The photo's on booking.com are not what it looks like. The bathrooms are disgraceful and smelled bad, and our bed had bed bugs. The food was also not great
- Gary (10/5): Would definitely stay again x - Lovely staff and great food! X
- Steve (10/5): Exceptional - The peaceful nature of the place, and the very helpful staff that made our stay
- Fran (9/5): Stay here for beautiful views, stunning pool and lovely service. - Stunning location, swimming pool and grounds. Staff attentive, friendly and made our night very special. 20 minutes out of town so peaceful and quiet. Wish we’d stayed more than a night. The one bedroom villa near the pool was lovely though a little tired. Food affordable but beer expensive. Would be an easier way to get to Moyo island than public port. I like more affordable options for family group.
- Drew (8/5): Enjoyable for a transit night - Charming "nature" resort. Cabins are very well spread apart in a well-groomed calm setting. Pool looked clean (but did not use). Friendly staff. Good menu options for lunch and dinner. It only takes 15-20 minutes to get to the airport, so it is a very good option if you just need an overnight stay for your next-day flight. In the duplex cottage, the walls are thin as a tissue. We could hear every word spoken in the next room - even the snoring! LOL. Thankfully we were all traveling together, not strangers. Breakfast options were minimal, and coffee costs extra.
- Suzanne (9/5): Lovely pool ,view, restaurant & staff. - Quiet, lovely restaurant & staff. Our room was a long way from the pool & restaurant plus the corridor needed a good clean because it was open to birds nesting there. Next time l won’t book the standard room.
- Hannah (7/5): Lots of improvements to be made - The staff here are so friendly and were quick to try and sort out any issues I had. Unfortunately, the room I had was unclean (stained sheets, hair on bed, contact lenses and hair on table) and had loads of bugs in it. The manager gave me bug spray and offered to do this for me but it wasn’t great to walk in to.
A wedding was being held at the same time as my stay which I wasn’t aware of. It was cool to witness but the evening was very noisy and the amount of rubbish left over was an eyesore.
The restaurant served nice food (breakfast could have more options) but at night time would be infested with moths and bugs which ended up drowning in leftover sauce on my plate.
- Verena (8/5): Very peaceful and quiet - The resort is very peaceful and quiet and away from it all. It is not new for sure, but it really is a nice stay here if you like peace and quiet.
The staff is so friendly and does their best to meet your needs and wishes. They even organized diving for me and surprised me with the sweetest birthday desert ever.
I am very happy I stayed here and my 3 nights were a very good and relaxing experience.
The WiFi is excellent, which was such a delight after all the bad connections in Lombok and Sulawesi before.
Thank you so much Sometimes not easy to communicate in English. But you will always find a way
- Thomas (8/5): Very good - Nice location The guy at the reception was weird , keep changing the price for everything we ask , had the feeling he was trying to rip us off
- Belinda (10/5): It was a perfect place for us - Spacious, quiet, divine large pool, overlooking ocean & islands, huge grassy areas and big beautiful trees. Staff were exceptionally friendly & food fantastic.
- Prem (8/5): Relaxing & quiet resort for pleasant stay - Staff were very friendly, welcoming & hospitable. The infinity pool was clean & good size for swimming.
Restaurant & poolside service for drinks & food was excellent 👍 The room & bathroom floors were not cleaned properly on 1st few days. So we had to complain. Then housekeeping staff cleaned rooms properly thereafter.
This was down to poor communication between reception & housekeeping.
The room phone didn't work, so we had to keep going to the reception to make requests.
But after getting their whatsapp number, room phone was not needed as we could make requests or talk to the reception team via our mobile.
- Mirza (8/5): Very good - The area is quiet and green. You woke up in the morning and can hear the birds. The breakfast is really basic, no fruits.
- Nicolai (9/5): Fantastic - The staff truly made the stay, my girlfriend and I stayed here for a couple days. I usually never write reviews but this was too good to not. Truly all the praise is given to the staff here. They managed to make us feel as if we were home.
- Daniil (1/5): Boring and awful - stuff was kind Everything
- Amanda (4/5): Disappointing - The gardens are maintained and the view towards Moyo Island is lovely. They have good Wifi throughout the large complex. The food was simple and good. It was very disappointing, this place has not been maintained since it was first built. The walkways and roads are not suitable for anybody with luggage on wheels, mobility issues or poor balance. The rooms are scattered far and wide, as a single female I didn't feel safe being so isolated from the main area, especially with the sounds of animals coming through the walls / roof. The beds are hard, the pillows lumpy, the sheets and towels old and stained. The TV did not work, the bathroom was leaky, so it smelt stale, there was a large lizard sitting in the bathroom, most likely eating all the bugs. There was far too many staff, just standing around, and when you asked questions about getting around and activities to do, they were not interested in helping. The edges of the pool unclean and super slimy.
You need a car or scooter to get around.
- Chris (7/5): Good -
- Joshua (5/5): Good for 1 or 2 night overstay before flying out - Nice and close to airport, view is beautiful and pool area is very nice, staff very friendly Room very run down, broken sockets, bathroom stunk of sewerage, stains all over bed, air con hardly worked
- Jack (7/5): Charming seaside resort in Sumbawa - By Sumbawa standards this hotel is really worth while. We needed a hotel close to Sumbawa airport after our whale shark excursion and this place ticked all the boxes. The view from the outdoor dining hall is beautiful. The breakfast was okay. Most importantly, the staff were able to organise transfer back to the airport for us on short notice.
Overall, we would book here again if we came back. Ensure you bring mosquito repellent when seated in the main open dining hall! It is located right on the beach after all so you should expect the odd friendly lizard/spider etc.
- Craig (9/5): Superb -
- Lydia (7/5): Good experience - Good place to stay The check in time taken
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Ashley (9/5): Superb - Felt as authentic indonesia type of stay. Lovely food and amazing staff. The staff made us feel very welcome. There are tours available and I booked a massage there. Nice swimming pool, overlooking moyo island.
- Michelle (7/5): Good - Beautiful location, quiet and very pretty. Staff very friendly and helpful. The restaurant right next to the sea only had frozen fish, disappointing. The bungalow were beautiful. The mosquitos were bad and lots of holes in the screens for them to get in. We put mozzarella bets over us which had holes in it. Some up grading needed doing. Still better than staying in the sumbawa besar
- Robert (9/5): Very relaxing hotel out in the country - It’s located out of town with no services nearby. Very calm and relaxing compared with all the hustle and bustle of Bali. We had a two room cottage with large covered veranda. Room was decent size. Bathroom was good (except for unattached toilet seat). Large pool with ocean view. Restaurant was good with sufficient variety of foods. Good complimentary breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff. Bathroom plumbing had a bit of a foul odor. Toilet seat was not firmly attached. Could have been cleaner.
- Michelle (6/5): Beautiful location and staff friendly and helpful - Beautiful location and friendly staff Beds a little hard . Better lighting in rooms would be a help for older people.Cleaner toilets in public areas especially restaurant and pool area.
- Csaki (6/5): Pleasant -
- Beatrice (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful staff, good food, very nice pool with great view. There is a way to go down to the sea, there was nobody and we had the beach for ourselves. We salute the beautiful kindness of the staff. 100% marvelous. The hotel is not far from the airport and the whole place is very quiet. We will be back! Nothing we can think of.
- Kavitha (8/5): Very good - The property itself is very beautiful with the beach on one side, swimming pool on the other and lots of greenery all around. The rooms are very comfortable as well. Breakfast could have a bit more options and also some sweets. Otherwise they were able to cater to vegetarian diet and made some really tasty MI goreng. The cappuccino was excellent and a must try. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The resort is also tied up to reliable tour operators which make our tours easier. There could be a bit more colour in the room decor. It would break the all white look and make the place look better. They could also arrange some activities in the resort like a dance performance or some art activity that could get everyone together.
- Tamile (3/5): Poor -
- Dilara (10/5): Luxerous stay close to the airport - The staff is super friendly, always smiling and absolutely helpful! We stayed here after our whale shark trip to be close to the airport. It’s only 20 minutes drive to the airport, which we arranged at the hotel. The beach is beautiful, it has a lovely sunset view but unfortunately it didn’t seem clean enough for swimming. The infinity pool however is gorgeous, we had a swim during sunrise ☀️
Breakfast is generous, we had lunch and dinner here too, which were affordable and delicious!
We regretted not booking the bungalows as they looked amazing! It’s also a good place to stay if you are planning to do a trip to Komodo island. There are some unfriendly bugs who enter the rooms but I don’t think the staff can do anything about them as the place is in the nature.
- Yanti (7/5): Place are good I'll be back to the hotel since there is not much of a choice in sumbawa. - I like the place is nice open space ocean view big garden. Food are not very good service is very slow lots of Mosquitos in the room and terrace.fish are frozen to think of they are in the front of the ocean.
- John (9/5): Superb - The staff were very friendly and the position was wonderful with a wonderful view of Sumbuwa Just the track in from the main road was rough and muddy but that's all
- Rolf (3/5): Possibly worst hotel I ever stayed in. Only reason to stay here is due to location to saleh bay - It’s quiet Extremely rundown, very poor maintenance, dirty, far too expensive for what it is, definitely not 4 star, 2 at most. Very limited food offer, food taste is good though.
- Christine (10/5): very nice - everything was great the beach was full of rubbish
- Suzanna (9/5): Superb - A real resort with plenty of areas to roam around the resort with all the facilities offered such as swimming pool, mini driving range, bycicle rent, diving shop, or simply gather below the big trees on sunny days.
Peaceful place for rest and relax.
Despite it's quite an old resort, it's somewhat well maintained. Grass are trimmed although some areas are probably grow faster that trimmed schedule, especially the back area of the superior rooms (1st night stayed there).
Staff are excellent, well trained and resto/cafe offers a good choice of food both local and int'l; taste can be improved.
Shuttle to airport also available - 20 mins to the only Sumbawa Besar airport.
A good choice for resting after Moyo Island excursion. The resort is quite faraway from the nearest town. * The 4 bedroom cottage we stayed has no shower door in the whole bed rooms, expect the water to splash and make the bathroom floor wet
* leak toilet flush
* some mosquitos and flies (but understandable because the area is next to the sea shore facing Moyo Island) and mosquitos spray is provided in each room. Insect repellent are provided upon request.
- Adam (10/5): Great place to stay - The staff were amazing, food was great and the location was beautiful
- Anne (3/5): not great - Nice pool. Friendly staff Very run down. Not clean. Food not great. Expensive given quality
- Marianne (6/5): Pleasant - The staff were amazing and like all Sumbawa people caring, and invested in the customer. The bungalow was comfortable and well appointed. View amazing Some areas were run down, pool house and area and v long grass. But, does not distract from the location
- Clint (4/5): Pretty bad, the place is very dated and requires lots of renovations. - Signage to the location was bad, I initially missed to turn off and arrived at a completely different spot thanks to Google Maps.
Then on arrival the signage to the reception lobby was bad and the walkway from the carpark walked me to the kitchen entrance.
The entry steps were wooden & rotten, pretty dangerous, cleanliness of the room was bad, shower screen broken and after finding what looked like poo in the room everywhere, there was a family of three (3) lizards living in the room. Called reception and nobody came to catch them, during the night the lizards made loud noises waking us up which they continued on & off all morning.
Poor selection of breakfast and my partner found I small chocolate jelly which she could & wanted to eat, I had eggs on toast that I cooked myself. Plus we had to pay additional for coffee, which was served in a cup with no handle and was too hot to pick up.
If it wasn’t for lovely staff & acess to Mojo Island, I would return ever. Signage to the location was bad, I initially missed to turn off and arrived at a completely different spot thanks to Google Maps.

- Daniel (8/5): It was a fancy place in the past but definitely need a modernization to justify the room rates - The very friendly staff, the welcoming of new guests and the location (quite with an amazing view). The baths are outdated and run down. The updates where made but unfortunately not really professional (holes where drilled in the walls where cable switches to the lights came out and the bathroom)
- Philip (8/5): Excellent bungalows by the sea in Sumbawa Besar! - Very smooth check-in, personable staff and nice rooms with good AC (it was hot outside!). Restaurant food choice was good and decent quality. Nice pool, no swimming/snorkeling from beach but in-house dive operation for excursions. Super convenient 20 mins transfer to airport. Bathrooms in the bungalows would benefit from an update. Overall good stay - we'll be back 🙂
- Garance (5/5): Passable - Beautiful hotel The staff didn’t speak a word of English and the price is to high for the basic bedroom
- Katharina (8/5): great hotel on the beach. amazing staff. - great hotel on the beach. amazing staff. a bit remote / if you like it abandoned its perfect. the facilities start getting a bit old
- Mariana (8/5): Very good - We had a great time and enjoyed being here for 2 nights .
Every member of the staff was very friendly and happy to help 😀
A big thank you to Dahaln, the front office manager, for taking such good care of us .
It was a privilege to meet you .
- Michaela (10/5): Exceptional - The rooms are beautifull, nice pool, very helpfull and friendly stuff
- Michele (10/5): excellent service and hospitality and value for money - excellent kindness and willingness to help from staff, nice pool and garden, rooms very spacious if the beach was even nicer it would be the perfect place for retreat
- Astrid (9/5): a great stay in great location with great personnel - location, villa facilities, personnel are great! maybe it’s a bit outdated ( the villa )
- Zinnia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were lovely and helpful .
- Neil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Caroline (10/5): Perfect! - Everything was great! -
- Anastasia (9/5): overall for Sumbawa it it great place. more cleaning needed. staff is nice 👍 - nice green area with nice pool the room was dusty with spider webs everywhere on the ceiling. Needs better cleaning.
- Zaida (5/5): So-so. Would not repart this property. - Private beach, far from public. The cottage is badly aged, bathroom floor is mouldy, curtains are stained and mouldy. Shower head is not properly working, low water pressure, salty-ish shower water, air conditioner sometimes working sometimes not despite the call for repair, overgrown weed in the grass , beach is not maintained and looks abandoned, the property need a whole lot of renovation. The bread toaster at the restaurant is half broken and dirty. Dont expect the best for the food, street food outside is much more tasty. Its current condition not worth the amount paid.
- Matthew (7/5): Good place bad wifi - The pool and restaurant. wifi was bad. beds were thin and not twins but singles
- Kartini (5/5): Passable - It is so serene and quiet, spacious grounds that are beautifully landscaped and with gorgeous views of the sea, Moyo Island and a volcano in the distance. The air-conditioning didn't work in the first bungalow I was in - but other than that, everything else in that bungalow was lovely. They gave me a free 'upgrade' to a sea-facing Bungalow #1 with a better-working aircon, but that bungalow was super dusty (which triggered my allergies), the shower stall didn't have a door or shower curtain, and the toilet had a musky smell.
- Max (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kelly (8/5): Very good -
