• Joseph (10/5): Great stay to get away, will be back again one day - Lovely stay, great sized room with massive TV and lovely bath to relax in. Only downfall was the bathroom had a slight smell of hospitals, but shows how clean it was I suppose Slight smell in the bathroom of a hospital
• Yvonne (8/5): Great location with beautiful garden - A gorgeous old hotel…a little tired but excellent spot with a beautiful garden. Rooms are a reasonable size and bed was comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast great. Very noisy shower.

• Grey (10/5): - The staff here are wonderful and a real asset to the hotel. We had a small problem with our room and they were fantastic. All sorted quickly and without fuss. We slept well as the room was quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was great with a good range of food available. We were with our dogs, who the kind and helpful staff fussed over and gave sausage to at breakfast. A truly dog-friendly hotel!

• Marcia (5/5): Booked for 2 rooms and management refuses to credit my card! - Samantha very friendly upon check in process. I explained to her that Booking had booked 2 rooms for the night and asked her to cancel one. Room was fine and breakfast was great! I was charged for 2 rooms and management states I received services?

Breakfast was very good and dining room was quiet Easy parking, lovely surroundings Heating in room was very effective Bedroom & bathroom were both a fantastic size but window frames could have been cleaner- there was mould around the window frames. Strangely although the room was cleaned daily the bed was not made

Make sure you say you coming back late so you don't get locked out of hotel! - Lots of options considering I was the only guest Some actually available to let me back in at night time. Arrived after midnight to find myself locked out, no staff around and no reply to numerous calls on their phone lines, external doors closed freezing temperatures!

• Juliana (10/5): We were running a local race on the Sunday morning so only stayed one night. We have stayed here four years in a row it’ - Lovely hotel, with friendly staff and a cosy atmosphere. Our large room had great views of the garden and a comfy four poster bed. We had our evening meal in the conservatory great service and lovely food. We asked for an early breakfast on a Sunday which was no problem for them, honestly the staff can’t do enough for you. We had a very nice Sunday roast for lunch before heading home. Nothing can’t fault it

• Nikola (10/5): Great place to spend the night at with lovely staff. - The decor is gorgeous, with great service and a very old fashioned decor which I loved. the bathroom was a little out dated with slight maintenance needed.
• Katie (10/5): - It was a peaceful spot with very nice staff that made me feel so welcomed I decided to stay an extra night. They had many outdated bits of furniture that added a real charm to the place obviously had been collected over the years and you could see each was bought with love, the blinds in the bar for example were beautiful. Also the veiw from my window was beautiful and the bed super comfortable. Was a little outdated minor things like the bin in the bedroom was broken or a new kettle would really help.

• Michaela (3/5): I wouldn’t recommend it - It was a nice location and character of the hotel looked lovely from the outside Our room was not clean, very dusty, shower had someone else hair in it, the shower glass wasn’t clean from the last time a person was in the room. We went down for breakfast and waiting 20 minutes before someone took our order then the breakfast took another 25 minutes to come

• Gordon (10/5): Warm Welcome place to visit - The breakfast was great, thoroughly enjoyed it Not everyone caters for vegetarian breakfast (I'm not but don't eat pork). The set menu dinner 2 course £12 and 3 course £15 was fabulous, tasty and great value for money. Would definitely return. Very handy for the nearby wedding at another hotel. In fact the dinner we had was better than the wedding venue! Taxi cost a fiver back to hotel. Great! Would've liked the room to be tidied.

• Andrew (1/5): Extremely disappointed and poor value for money. - The staff. They tried there best to rectify any concerns, however, one had an inkling that they already knew of the problems. Bedroom 7. On arrival, the staff allowed us to deposit our luggage in the room prior to an early wedding ceremony at 1300hrs. The room was very cold and it was brought to our attention that both radiators , whilst cold at that time, would be fully functional by our return at 2230. They were not. On our arrival, with outside temperatures below zero, the radiators were stone cold and the room was freezing. Reception was contacted and it was intimated that they would bring a heater, if one could be found.. Eventually, a rather tired item was supplied. After less than 20 minutes, a smell of burning rubber pervaded the room and it was discovered that the heater plug was so hot that the fuse mounting had melted to the multiplug board. A definite fire hazard. The mattress was of poor quality and uncomfortable . The duvet was a lightweight summer item. An early morning bath was anticipated but both taps did not work. Having fitted a few bathroom shower units over the years, the noise from the item installed in this room would have woken the dead. Breakfast was good and the only highlight of this short stay. On checkout, reception staff couldn't be bothered to enquire as to how our stay had been. The hotel was chosen for its ideal proximity to the wedding venue, however, on hindsight, we should have checked the reviews prior to our reservation as complaints had already been raised concerning this particular room.

• KAREN (6/5): Handy but would not stay again. - Nice fireplace area to sit and have a drink and socialise. Very tired rooms, needing a redecoration and new bedding/duvet, Lino floor in bathroom ripped and shower door did not close. Very tiny shower cubicle compared to room. Breakfast was only ok.

Came back to the hotel around 10 pm and thought we could have a night cap in the cozy lounge area. However we were informed that the bar was closed. Member of staff was actually very rude to us. Queried her behaviour the following morning and were told that we had been refused bar service because she had a migraine!!

• Allan (8/5): Make sure Maggie & her colleagues are on duty over the period of your stay. - 2 Night stay so Dinner on our first evening was from the Early Bird Menu. Food was excellent and priced very competitively. Breakfast the following morning was excellent. Breakfast on the day of departure was poor. Possible change of breakfast chef? But that's an internal issue for the hotel to resolve. Slight issue with our bedroom resolved in minutes by Maggie & her colleagues. Both Maggie & her colleagues help was brilliant & dealt with efficiently and professionally. Breakfast on our day of departure. We did bring it to Maggie's attention.
• ZARA (9/5): Lovely homely hotel - The breakfast was delicious and the staff were really lovely. They even accommodated a late night cup of tea for us and some milk for my little one, well past the restaurant closing time. The room was very large with lovely features and we felt like we were staying in an old period house for the weekend. The shower was great too! The location was excellent as we were visiting family just across the road. It was a cosy hotel with lovely homely feel. I would stay again. The large bedroom was a little cold but the heater helped. The bed was a little hard but actually probably better for a bad back!

The grounds were ideal for the two dogs that accompanied us. The evening meals were on a special offer. The breakfast offered a range of options but marmalade was not available in the choice of jams.

• Fiona (7/5): One night at Dunmar House hotel. - Lovely old house. Room large and beds comfortable. Quiet location. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Not enough plug points near for appliances and bulbs missing in lights. Housekeeping was not up to standard with dust on bedside cabinets and cobwebs on some light fittings in dining room. 3 large dogs in bar jumping up on seats meant we spent the evening in our room.
