- Eva (5/5): - The owner was lovely person. We got the family room on the first floor. It is not isolated at all and there is no heating. We were really cold. It was not confortable at all.
- Qizhi (6/5): -
- Sophy (8/5): Great base for Santa Elena - would recommend. - Clean and comfortable. Friendly hosts.
Walkable to Santa Elena centre but to be aware there is some VERY steep uphill sections to get back.
We would definitely recommend. No AC but we were aware of that - strong fan provided however.
Shower water was hot but not very powerful.
- Lorna (10/5): Perfect, comfortable location - Perfect location for a visit to Monteverde rainforest. Large comfortable rooms and gave us time to dry out!

- Donal (9/5): Nice place. - Nice place. Exceeded expectations with a lovely breakfast served by the family. It's really good value for money.
- Oksana (8/5): -
- Melissa (8/5): Great location - Great central location close to lots of restaurants, sunset viewing, and a nice grocery store. The beds were comfortable and warm on the cooler, windy nights. The bathroom was nice with a hot shower. We also enjoyed having a fridge. Wonderful to have breakfast included! It’s a bit odd but perfectly fine for a few nights. We were initially concerned about the light coming in through the three sliding glass door panels that only had thin white curtains but the lights are turned out around 9 or 10. The light closest to our door was actually flashing all night which we pretended was a lightning storm;) It went perfectly with the wind!
- Thomas (8/5): Simpelt hotel med fin beliggenhed. Stor værdi for pengene.

No tengo ninguna queja.
- Liz (10/5): - Si
- Ramirez Trejos (10/5): -
- Michele (7/5): -
- Marian (8/5): Zona tranquila, habitación limpia y camas comodas.
- Viviana (8/5): - Just stayed one night but the staff was super nice and had no issues at all.
- Davide (8/5): Comfy beds, good breakfast, helpful staff. - Nice place to stay. Only a short 13min walk to the centre. Staff was very helpful in booking for us a coffee tour. Nothing really
- Khalil (6/5): Pleasant -
- Rahul (7/5): Good Value for the price - Good value , acceptable homely breakfast The type of setup , because there was a sheet as room roof , every Time there is a water drop you could feel it overhead .. not too great
- Jukka (8/5): Good price-quality ratio - Stayed three nights there. The price-quality ratio was really good. The breakfast was sufficient enough and made according to my timetable since my visit took place outside the high season.
But most of all I want to thank the manager. He assisted me in reserving the zip-lines and the jungle visit. He also provided a laundry service at a very short notice. Pura Vida attitude at its very best. Kiitos. Gracias
- Pilar (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable rooms and tasty breakfast. Very friendly and helpful host.
- Cb (9/5): Superb - Diemer (sp?) was the best! He went out of his way to help me book tours (I enjoyed the night tour he recommended) and even had my breakfast ready early for me so I could make the shuttle in time to get to one of them. (Oh, and the coffee at the hotel was perfection!)
The tour operator he recommended for Curicancha never responded to his booking inquiries, which held up my plans & almost made me miss the chance to see that reserve, but that's not his fault. I appreciate all of his many efforts!
The accommodations were fine, and the bed comfortable - except my sheets were itchy (not bugs, thank God). 😒 And for the life of me, I don't understand when a room doesn't include a lamp. Overhead lighting is terrible to begin with, but especially so when you have insects drawn to bright light. At night, I chose to stumble around in the dark.
Pro tips: ASK about his wife's jewelry and go to the parks (Curicancha & Monteverde Cloud Forest) & book one of THEIR guides. I wish I'd done that with Curicancha.
- C (5/5): I was good for two nights. - Location was good. Staff was great. Breakfast was good. Thank you. Place was worn
- Denis (9/5): Superb - Staff friendly Location not a good view
- Brenda (10/5): - Very nice big rooms with a full size fridge. Several restaurants were close by/walkable. Nice big bathroom too.
- Christine (8/5): Very good -
- Brad (9/5): Staff was soo nice! Iliana was a standout and Christian was excellent setting up our tours. Really nice people, the ladi - Back to nature which is what you look for in Rio Celeste Room was sparse and could have used some place to put suitcases and maybe a couch to sit on.
- Jamieson (9/5): Superb -
- Gabriela (7/5): Good for simple overnight stay, unless you’re not planning stay much time in the facility - Very nice and helpful stuff
Comfortable bed
Cleanness
Convenient location
Possibility to grab tea/ coffee trough out the day No closet to arrange the clothes, missing hangers
Weak shower stream
Breakfast not to my taste
- Franchette (10/5): Great, economical place to stay for your adventures in Monteverde. Pura vida! - Family Room was comfortable for our family of 4. Clean, beds and pillows fine. Breakfast was filling and staff super friendly. Tours and dining recommendations gladly given. Stored our luggage while we were on ziplining tour. None
- Fonseca (9/5): Great place to be - Room and breakfast Nothing
- Dave (9/5): Great hotel, amazing staff, away from the hustle of Santa Elena but still with cafes and restaurants in walking distance - We loved the location of the property and the staff were amazing. They helped us with bus transfers, shuttles to the national park and booked tours for us. They were so very helpful, we cannot recommend them enough. The breakfast is good too.
Hotel Las Ardillas is located in Cerro Plano, the next village up from Santa Elena - it’s away from all the hustle and bustle but still has plenty of restaurants and cafes in easy walking distance as well as the most amazing view of the sunset. The bus out to Tilaran even stops just down the road.
If you want to stay in Monteverde area but don’t want the busy area of Santa Elena, you can’t go wrong with Hotel Las Ardillas. Not much.
- Barton (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff
- Anyamanee (8/5): Very good - The owner and staff are very nice and helpful with useful information and everything we asked about.
- Austin (8/5): Very good - The location and the receptionist was kind and helpful. The beds were uncomfortable, you could feel the springs in the mattress.
- Ying (6/5): - The shower's hot water is not strong enough, so you need to turn the water volume way down to have a decent temperature shower. The room sound insulation is very poor and you can easily hear the tv from next room. The room service is ok, and the bed was not set every day.
- Margarita (9/5): Superb -
- Maria (7/5): Good -
- Edit (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jovan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Timothy (8/5): Very good - Convenient for national park excursion. Friendly staff. Good value for money.
- Gintare (7/5): Good -
- Prabhakar (8/5): Owner very helpful -
- Benedict (7/5): An option for Monteverde, serves its purpose - Quiet, safe neighbourhood, restaurants and supermarkets around, easy to access by car (not by public transport), wide variety of tour offers, sports and adventures Room very basic, no kind of any kitchen facilities, small space low quality furniture, no balcony although booked, basic breakfast, not so comfortable when rainy and windy
- Isolde (9/5): Great location - Great value and location in Monteverde with very helpful staff. We appreciated the banana tree in the inner courtyard. Nothing
- Joost (8/5): Very good - Good location, nice personnel. Only downside is the room does not have a window for fresh air, only the door. And the door does not have a screendoor for the musquitoes
- Silvia (7/5): Good - The staff was friendly and helpful, they helped us with booking guides. Good breakfast. Big room. The place is on a hill, but it's a nice 10mins walk to the centre. Supermarket and cafes next to it. A nice secluded waterfall 10 mins walk away. We walked back from the national park ( less than 1hour) . The room was not very clean, lots of dust underneath th beds. The bed sheets carrying static electricity. The pillows, although bamboo, were rock hard. The armchairs were very stained. Although not the accomodation's fault, one night we found a scorpion on the bathroom sink.
- Lory1992 (4/5): Disappointing - The breakfast was great! However the room is poorly built, a lot of noise, old beds, you could feel the wires
- Timothy (8/5): Very good - We enjoyed our stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Pillows were bulky and hard.
- Philomena (9/5): Superb -
- Shaun (8/5): Very good -
- Becky (8/5): Good value for money and helpful staff - The room was spacious, a short walk to supermarket and restaurants, and a short drive to the national parks. The guy at the front desk was so lovely and helpful…. An issue with the coffee machine was solved in minutes and his tour recommendations were spot on! It would have been useful to have a few more bits and pieces in the kitchen area to make the most of the space.
- Dean (8/5): The staff here is outstanding. They take very good care of you! And yes, breakfast was tasty! - Great location! Great staff!
- Omar Jair (8/5): - Small and cozy hotel, near a lot of good restaurants, perfect to crash after a long day of tours
- Michael (7/5): Good -
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional - The property was very comfortable, very clean and the staff was very nice and made us a perfectly good breakfast.
- Marco (9/5): Superb - The owner is very kind and helpful. The room was nice, clean and comfy.
Breakfast was awesome and delicious. There was nothing.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The owner of Las Ardillas was very helpful and considerate. The breakfast was big, pancakes, fruit and drinks. Read the fine print as there is a surcharge for the breakfast. The room was a great deal for the price. We recommend staying at Las Ardillas.
- Francisco (9/5): Superb - The best staff ever, they made us breakfast an hour early because we had to leave. The site is very good.
- Wanderingtheworld (7/5): Good - Good for the price. Free parking. Breakfast cooked on request, not buffet (but with no choice). A bit far from the St Helens center. Pretty modest on facilities.
- Anamarija (7/5): Good - The host was nice and frinedly. He gave us recommendations about where to go and so on. The bed sheets were washed, but they had some stains on them.
