Guest Reviews
- DEAN (10/5): Great spot for our visit to Maine, would definitely return. - Charming older home beautifully restored. Breakfast was amazing. Our hosts, Keith & Gretchen, were so friendly and helpful! Nothing, really!
- Thomas (10/5): We highly recommend it. Gretchen and Keith are wonderful hosts. - A beautiful, well-appointed and restored historic house, a great breakfast and a very comfortable bed. Nothing. Everything was fantastic.
- Lana (10/5): Amazing sleep in a beautiful historic mansion. - Traveled for work. Best sleep I've had in years. Very comfortable bed. Quiet location. Off the main road but could walk to dinner & shops. Breakfast was top notch. Bathroom was super spacious. Loved the gardens and fireplace on deck. Relaxing Perfection. Loved it all
- Beck (10/5): Amazing stay - Loved everything. Staff is amazing, bed comfy. It was all perfect
- Becca (10/5): Best accommodations while touring New England... - We travel the world and found this to be the cleanest and most comfortable spot we've visited. The home was decorated beautifully, the breakfast was delicious and the town so quaint. Loved the porch swing and the gardens. Amazing quality for the money in today's economy Not a single complaint. Highly recommend
- Shayla (10/5): Keith and Gretchen made our stay at The Perkins House one to remember! It was the perfect get away and the cutest little - I absolutely loved how beautifully decorated it was inside and out for Halloween! It just set the mood perfectly. The hospitality was awesome. The breakfast was amazing. Very clean and comfortable atmosphere.
- Rachel (10/5): Southern Grits Meet Salem Decor in Cornish Maine - What an experience! Certainly a house unlike any other, bedecked with numerous knicknacks and unusual objects and antiques carefully collected by the owners over many years. Imaginative Halloween decor included skeletons, witches, zombie baby, frightening figures etc. Hosts were very friendly and welcoming and recommended local restaurants. Room was clean. Host has culinary experience so breakfast was a very unique affair and beautifully presented. Location was perfect. The bed was extremely high ,(4 feet?) I could not get into it without a ladder and my husband was afraid of falling out, he ended up sleeping on the couch. Our "private bathroom" was not in the room itself but off a little kitchen with a fridge which was accessed by the host, so it felt a bit unprivate.
On the morning of our checkout we felt a bit rushed by the host, at 9:30 I wanted to get some coffee and was told "the kitchen has closed" and was given the hint that "all the other guests have checked out" and that they were anxious to start preparing for next guests, and was urged to take a cup "to go".
The fake cockroaches and spiders on the dining table, while fitting in perfectly with the Halloween theme decor, were a bit much at the breakfast table and did not contribute to my appetite.
Also, grits are not for everyone, an option of some plain toast or a bagel would have been great.
- Lisa (10/5): Keith and Gretchen were nice hosts and their little pooch Dolce was loveable. - Awesome breakfasts a la Keith!!! The house was decorated to the hilt with Halloween stuff - quite different from the listing pictures as we had stayed there before. The shared bathroom was slightly inconvenient - but we made it work. The town and restaurants around were not particularly good or inviting. We did spend the day in Portland which turned out to be good.
- Shari (8/5): -
- Anne (10/5): - The abundance of character
- Leon (10/5): - Amazing place to stay. Extremely welcoming hosts, great location and an incredible house.
A must stay if you get the chance
- michael (7/5): This is a bed and breakfast in Cornish, Maine sharing house with others - Clean and breakfast included. This was a bed and breakfast that you share with others, including the bathroom. I was taken back when I found that it was a bed and breakfast. Maybe I didn’t carefully read the booking.com description.
- Susan (10/5): - It was a totally amazing spot. All decorated for Halloween. My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was superb. We enjoyed visiting with the guests at the breakfast table.
We have already booked for another stay in November. Keith and Gretchen, the owners, were very accommodating and delightful!
- Allen (10/5): - Great
- Tammy (8/5): -
- William (10/5): - Lovingly and expertly prepared breakfast. Warm, gracious hosts.
Don't hesitate to book Keith and Gretchen's B&B.
Best stay ever!
- David (10/5): Absolutely wonderful - This is the most wonderful stay I have had in a long time.
The house feels like home.
I had an early flight so I didn't get to have the breakfast.
This will be my go to stay for all Maine trips.
- Michael (8/5): -
- Martha (6/5): - Location was good. It was chilly that weekend. Room was cold. Generally not a good choice for us.
Our mistake to book this.
- Brian (10/5): - Gretchen and Keith are fantastic hosts. They were very friendly and great to talk with. They gave me tips on the best places to eat, and for a great lobster roll. If I am ever in the area again I will be staying there.
- Edward Greg (8/5): Very nice stay in a very nice B&B with very nice folks with a gourmet breakfast and great location - A beautifully restored Victoria home with lovely floral gardens The decor was overly “cute”. An abundance of cute little signs for our tastes—the authentic decor spoke for itself. Also, there was too much “aroma therapy” for us. Everything was perfumed with sweet smelling air fresheners that were a little overboard. The place smelled just fine and all the scents were unnecessary. We really didn’t use any of the common areas other than the porch. That said, Gretchen and were lovely, friendly hosts.
- Jordan (10/5): A home away from home - The couple who owns the property and host you while you’re there is warm and gracious. The rooms are nice and it is well decorated and cute. You get an overall good feeling being there. Nothing
- Crowther (10/5): Exceptional - Staying in the Carriage House was a wonderful experience. The room was beautifully appointed and incredibly comfortable. Breakfast each morning was absolutely delicious, with thoughtful touches that made it feel special. Our hosts were warm, welcoming, and genuinely helpful, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived.
- Jordan (10/5): Exceptional -

- John (10/5): - The location was perfect for us. We like to wander the Cornish area, but it is also very convenient to get to Portland or the mountains in New Hampshire. The owners are very accessible for suggestions or assistance. The breakfast meals were excellent. Will definitely stay again.
- Noam (10/5): Exceptional - the room is not enogh ventilared
- Clifford (9/5): Superb - I,would love to get the recipe for his grits. They were delicious.
- Julie (10/5): Historic and comfortable B&B with outstanding hosts and breakfast! - Gretchen and Keith are excellent hosts. We felt welcome even before we walked through the door of their lovely home. Very historic home, restored beautifully. Our room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Keith was a former chef and his breakfast was amazing! Keith knows the area very well and gave us suggestions for 2 outstanding hikes that would fit into our short stay. By checkout, we felt like we were saying goodbye to old friends. Plan to return to the area in the future and stay at Perkins House again. Wish we had more time to stay and enjoy the B&B and explore the town of Cornish
- Marina (10/5): - Wonderful

- Michelle (10/5): Beautiful B&B in Cornish, Me - The house was beautiful and that staff were very friendly. We were there on the weekend and served an amazing breakfast. Nothing at all. Everything was lovely.
- Craig (10/5): Comfortable, peaceful, relaxing what else can you ask for. - Breakfast was exceptional, our hosts were most hospitable and personable. Really not sure. We always stay at B&B's and the Perkins house was exceptional.
- Sheila (10/5): Wonderful & inviting - Gretchen & Keith were superb hosts. The property was beautiful and welcoming. We will definitely be back!
- Sheila (10/5): Wonderful & inviting - Gretchen & Keith were superb hosts. The property was beautiful and welcoming. We will definitely be back!
- Peter (10/5): Wonderful - Hello Keith, hello Gretchen, thank you very much for the wonderful time as a guest in your stylishly furnished house. Thank you so much Keith for the delicious, freshly prepared and incredibly rich breakfast every morning. Thank you for all your patience in explaining and describing our questions regarding our day trips in the surrounding area and further afield. Steffi and Peter It was perfekt
- Jodi (10/5): Delightful getaway - The room was very comfortable, quiet and clean. There is a shared bathroom for the floor, which was fine for us since only one other room was occupied. (I don’t know how that goes when the inn is full.) We did not take advantage of any of the other common areas (living room w/TV, sitting room). The entire house is beautifully decorated in the Victorian style, with lots of furniture, busy wallpaper, and decorative items on the shelves, dressers and side tables. It looked great, but I was afraid to put any of my own things on the dresser because I thought I might overlook them amidst all the other items when it came time to leave.
Our host was very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast far surpassed our expectations. I would certainly stay there again.
- Nancy (10/5): Wonderful experience! - Breakfast was Delicious!!
We really enjoyed the pup also!! Nothing!
- Cristian (10/5): - We had a great time at the Perkins House! The inn keepers are very welcoming and made us feel like visiting family!
- Emily (10/5): Awesome 10/10 - Absolutely amazing. Cute dog, friendly people. Very interesting and cool decor. Bed was so comfortable, breakfast was incredible.
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ian (10/5): Lovely place to stay. - We had a lovely room in a beautifully restored guest house. Breakfast was not inspiring. The house was covered in Halloween paraphernalia.
- Greg (10/5): - Hosts were very pleasant
- Amy (6/5): Very friendly host - Very decorative Nothing
- September (10/5): Peaceful - We loved hanging out on the deck at the fire. 💖
- Bonnie (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was beautiful and amazing. Keith made the most delicious breakfast!
- Ann (8/5): - The historic setting of the Perkins house was very fun to learn about—it has a unique history and the owners preserved it’s originality. It was decorated to the extreme with antiques and knickknacks which made it feel a bit cluttered and our bedroom was so full of things that there was not much room left to lay out our things. But the breakfast provided was delicious each morning and was very satisfying.
- Erica (10/5): - Very kind. Nice people. Really fun and lots of cool decorations seasonal ones all-around great place to stay. Feels like home.
- Andrew (9/5): Just the welcoming stopover we needed - We enjoyed our stay with Keith & Gretchen in Cornish. For us it was a great one-night stopover in a Halloween themed historic house and we were made very welcome. Our room was a good size and the home cooked breakfast was delicious
- Ike (10/5): - Awesome place and awesome hosts...didn't even realize so many people were there until I met them for breakfast. I will definitely be looking them up again next time i'm in the area.
- Robert (10/5): Lovely home, lovely hosts! - No time for breakfast If small dogs could stay
- Irene (10/5): Perfect place to stay - The house was beautiful, the hosts were super friendly, the breakfast was delicious and the porch was a wonderful spot to relax. Nothing it was the perfect place to stay for our Amy Ray Band show at the Stone Mountain Arts Center.

- Joyce (10/5): Lots of southern charm in Maine! - Lovely home with great curb appeal. Hosts were wonderful, including Dolce, the pomeranian! The home is amazing and decorated beautifully. Rooms were well sized and so comfortable. The bath was very nice as well. Breakfast was delicious herbed sausage biscuits and honeydew with lots of juice, coffee and teas available. Would stay here again and again if able! Loved it all
- Sally (10/5): Exceptional!!!! - So much to see. Beautifuly decorated. So much history. And Keith was an exceptional host. We visited the gardens but the mosquitos chased us away. No problem, went up and sat on the porch. Total relaxation ❤️
- Timothy (7/5): Good - Clean and central to Cornish (small town so easy to do!) Just beware you may be sharing a bathroom
- Terri (10/5): - Absolutely wonderful experience. House is beautiful. Breakfast was amazing. Hosts were so friendly and hospitable. We will be back.
- Paul (10/5): - A beautiful home. We have been made to feel very welcome.
- Sally (10/5): Relaxation - We enjoyed ourselves from the beginning to the end. The owners, the food, the location. So peaceful! We needed that. Nothing
- Jacqueline (10/5): I will definitely book this place again when we are in the area. Keith and Gretchen were amazing. - Everything was amazing the hosts went above and beyond. Breakfast was fantastic - something different every morning. The rooms were huge and the beds very very comfortable. The whole house was spotless clean with plenty of towels and linens for our stay. I didn't mind the shared bathroom but it is always nice to have a bathroom to yourself. BUT - this was not a drawback to our stay.
- Marcela (10/5): - My boyfriend and I spent one night at the Perkins House and we loved it! The hosts were very welcoming and made us feel at home. The house is cozy and our room was very comfortable. We hope to be back some day.

Thank you for your hospitality. Enjoy the food Dulce. Will be back again within the year.

- Sponsler (10/5): We enjoyed our trip a lot and are planing to return next year. - The location of the Perkins House is perfect for exploring both the White Mountains to the west and the coast of Maine to the east- both are about an hour away. We had easy access to unlimited amazing hiking trails as well as making a quick trip to the coast. Our room was super comfortable, and Keith is a kind and helpful host. Breakfast was great and the house is lovely. We were there during the week and found that many stores and restaurants are closed on Monday and/or Tuesdays. Do your research ahead of time to avoid frustration.
- Denis (10/5): Very pleasant stay. Great hosts and it's very close to town. -
- Warren (10/5): Exceptional - Superb home, super welcome and great location. I would come back for longer.
