Mary at the front desk was immensely helpful, and even offered us tea while we waited to check in. Alex gave us a tour of the stunning property. Our room was beautiful and grand, and the hotel even gave us a birthday treat for my husband. The location couldn’t be better! It’s directly across the street from a Tube stop and walking distance to the British Museum. I would 100% book this hotel again!

- helenfP4099KE (10/5): Oscar Zermeno Private Transportation Services for the entire Yucatan Peninsula - Just got back from a trip to the Yucatan Peninsula and felt the need to write this review to recommend the transport services of Oscar Zermeno who is based in Merida. Oscar is one of a kind - he is a genuinely nice guy who cares about the quality of the service he provides to his clients. He is a careful and considerate driver, his car is immaculately clean, he provides water for the journey, his pricing is fair and he keeps you informed regarding pick up and drop off times according to how the traffic is going. Oscar has some great recommendations for places to visit (like Xcambo) , places to eat (who knew Lebanese food was so popular in Mexico?), and other interesting and unusual suggestions to make your trip that bit different and certainly more special. We were sad to say 'Goodbye' to Oscar at the end of our trip, it felt like leaving a friend even after a comparatively short amount of time. So the best thing we can do is to encourage everyone to use Oscar's transportation services, safe in the knowledge that he will only add good things to your holiday. Oscar is on WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram so get in touch with him so that he's ready and waiting for you when you get to Mexico! Helen F

- nfj7284 (10/5): 10th anniversary trip - Was at l’oscar for our 10th anniversary trip and it was absolutely wonderful! Toni gave the best service we have received and we travel frequently. The room was beautiful and spacious. All of the staff made us feel so welcomed. We had breakfast both days which was wonderful. The drinks at the bar were also top notch! Overall wonderful hotel
- estherc80 (10/5): A palimpsest of time - This hotel is more than it looks. It’s is a palimpsest of time. It carries the marks of what we’ve been through but also the possibility of being transformed into something new. It was originally a church, damaged by a bomb in WWII, and rescued by architect Jacques Garcia. His choice to restore rather than erase, to be let those original details show through the new design, feels like honoring that history while moving forward. The staff was incredibly welcoming, catering to every detail with kindness and devotion. I’m so grateful and hope to be back soon! The rooms were incredibly comfortable, the bathrooms feels luxurious and you can’t beat the location right beside the Holborn Station.

When you stay here you must ask for a tour of the “Baptist” bar, library and meeting room. Tremendous kudos to Tony and Shifaz for their attentive actions. - zhennianx (10/5): Nice hotel, PHENOMENAL service - We loved the stay mainly because of Toni. The location was awesome, 1-min walk from central line, room was small but had everything we need. But Toni, he was phenomenal. The moment we walked into the hotel he gave us the warmest welcome, helped us get complimentary coffee and snacks and introduced our room. He seems to take good care of all the guests and we loved that for him! He sets the service standard so high that we are expecting the same service through our trip! Big shout out to Toni and I would def recommend this hotel to people because of him!

- n2r49rs (10/5): Absolutely the best! An incredible stay! - London and L’Oscar was our last stop on our 5+ week trip and we saved the best for last! Our stay at L’Oscar bordered on magical. The interior is gorgeous and luxurious. It used to be a Baptist church and later the headquarters of the Baptist Church of England. The greeting when we arrived including coming across the street to assist us with our luggage made quite an impression on us. After checking in we were escorted to our room. Wow! The room was stunning! We stayed in room 201 which was a suite. It was the best room of our trip by far and that includes coming from the St. Regis in Venice the stop before which was definitely a disappointment. Service levels were amazing! Toni and Ana were both terrific with their friendliness, helpfulness and just outright commitment to providing the best possible hotel experience. I can’t speak highly enough about both of them. We also really enjoyed the breakfasts in the morning and dinner in the evening. We dined at the hotel our first night as we were arriving somewhat late and it was excellent. Their veal Milanese was delicious and in fact better than two examples we had in Milan a week earlier. It was so good we decided to eat there again on our last night! It was that good. As you can tell we loved our stay and would never think about staying anywhere else the next time we are in London! Highly, highly recommend!

It’s rare to find service at this level, and it made all the difference. Toni is amazing and really works hard to surpass your expectations! The location in Holborn is perfect — central enough to explore the best of London, yet tucked away enough to feel like a hidden gem. And the on-site restaurant and bar? Absolutely world-class. The food and cocktails were exquisite, and the atmosphere was unlike anywhere else in the city. L’Oscar isn’t just a hotel — it’s an experience. I’ll be back without a doubt.

Note that they charge a service fee of 25 pounds per day, but it is worth it. You don't have to worry about tipping with cash the many people who help you throughout your stay. The breakfast is excellent and the rooms very quiet and comfortable.

L'Oscar is one of these places, a small boutique hotel in London, away from the tourist mobs yet within a few minutes of the British museum and easy walk to Covent Garden, the theatre district, Oxford St for shopping and National Theatre. My room was large and well appointed and, as others have pointed out, the omnipresent Toni was there to greet you and offer advice. Negatives are very few and trivial. Cost of drinks and snacks from in room fridge overpriced. However the Sainsbury's across the road took care of that! Would also be nice to have had an ice delivery every afternoon and I'm sure that would have been provided if I'd asked. All in all outstanding and will be my go to home in London

We were offered refreshments as they checked us in and took us personally to our room to show all the amenities. The room was beautiful and our son loved the large rain shower stall. The guest services staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We dined in their restaurant for dinner one night and the food was delicious and the staff very attentive. We had complimentary breakfast included in our stay and again the staff was terrific. Toni who acted like a major domo for guest services especially was great. He asked after our son who felt sick one of the days and Toni went out of his way to help us get medicine for him. I have traveled to many countries and stayed at many 4 and 5 star hotels. I would highly recommend L’oscar for your stay in London. We will definitely be staying with them again on our next visit.

Everything was wonderful; right from the greeting from Sara at reception when we arrived. I felt like she was an old friend (we'd spoken a couple of times on the phone :)). The place is in slightly eccentric French style and style is the word. Everything was classy; the gala dinner, the room (we were in a loft suite) and the restaurant. But what really sets it apart is the friendliness and helpfulness of each and every member of staff. I really don't want to name anyone because they were all fantastic; as it's a smaller hotel they get to know all the guests and nothing is too much trouble. We stay in London quite a bit and we'll certainly be back!

As an independent travel advisor with Inteletravel, specialising in five-star hotels, I’m always on the lookout for places that feel genuinely exceptional — and this hotel had been on my radar for a while. After dining at its outstanding restaurant and realising I’d somehow overlooked the hotel itself, I knew it was time to fix that. I booked a one-night stay and reached out to the team in advance to request a meeting and a full tour, so I could experience the property properly and review it in detail. I’m a little late posting this, so I won’t pretend to remember the names of every meeting room I visited (Baptist, Library and Committee do spring to mind), but once you see the photos, you’ll understand why memory fails — this place is truly spectacular. Whether you’re considering it for a luxury stay or looking for an impressive corporate meeting or event space, this hotel deserves a top spot on your shortlist. And whatever you do, make time for the restaurant — the food, service and décor are all exceptional. From the moment you walk through the doors, the sense of luxury is unmistakable. Reception sits to the right and is one of the most beautiful I’ve seen — intimate, elegant and refreshingly calm. Rather than standing at a counter, you’re seated on plush chairs while the team takes care of everything. I wish I could remember the name of the lovely French lady who checked me in, as well as the wonderfully jovial bellman — both were warm, welcoming and made the arrival feel genuinely special. I was then shown around the hotel by the fantastic Rebecca Kircos — thank you again for your time, patience and good humour while I snapped far too many photos! Every corner of the hotel feels thoughtfully designed, with a timeless elegance that’s both grand and inviting. My room was classic, refined and quietly opulent. On entering, there was a small antechamber housing the desk and radio, which immediately set the tone. Even the room keys felt special — presented in a charming little pouch that perfectly matched the hotel’s attention to detail. The overall feel was indulgent without being over the top. Some of the photos included are from other rooms I viewed rather than my own, including one particularly unique space featuring two showers *and* a bath — a real talking point. Breakfast was superb, with excellent service to match. I’ve also enjoyed dinner in the restaurant on two separate occasions, and some of the photos show the beautifully presented Asian dishes I’ve had there — consistently delicious and full of flavour. Location-wise, the hotel is ideally placed near Holborn Underground station and within easy walking distance of Oxford Street, Covent Garden and Soho, making it a perfect base for both business and leisure. If you’re looking for a hotel that feels unique, elegant and genuinely luxurious, I can’t recommend this one highly enough. One of the best parts of our L'Oscar experience was Tony, who met us as we entered and took great care of us during our entire stay. He is truly an asset to the hotel - and we look forward to seeing him again at our next stay at this incredible hotel.

We found a nicely decorated Christmas tree in our room when we checked in plus an arrangement of flowers and chocolate. - PointsDad17 (10/5): Perfectly Located Luxury and Hospitality - We stayed at L'Oscar between Christmas and New Years, it was perfect for a festive get away and we will be back. To start - The Staff, specifically Andres, George, and Shifas(sp?). They were attentive, welcoming, accommodating and kind throughout our stay. Their back of house team accommodated our room service requests even at 0400 while we were adjusting to the time change. We rarely had to ask for anything. The Bell Service on arrival and departure was anticipated, fast. Location: We couldn't have better access to get anywhere we needed to go in London. Immediately off the Holborn tube it was two stops to Regent Street, or a quick walk to the west end, bus stops, the British Museum and more. It was incredibly easy to navigate two and from the property. Atmosphere: The Hotel is well appointed with rooms and decor that is luxurious and approachable. The lobby is incredibly comfortable and cozy and the perfect lounge to warm up in with a drink as you return. The vibe was not pretentious at all and the staff made it feel welcoming and warm at all times with their attentive hospitality. Rooms: We stayed in a Loft Suite and it was incredible. The space was more than enough and it was well appointed. There wasn't an amenity that we were missing, it was comfortable and had excellent furnishings. The bathroom was huge and the tub and shower were perfect when traveling with kids. Everything was kept incredibly clean and the housekeeping and turndown service were great each day. We even had a Christmas Tree setup in our room which was an amazing touch. I cannot understate how incredible this stay was. We found what had been a hidden gem that provided an incredible value compared to larger chain properties and is a perfect introduction to their portfolio.

- 21bruised (2/5): Extremely Disappointing! - 1. The Door Man not present when I arrived which left me wondering around searching for Reception. 2. Overly long check- in which didn't include 2 of the most obvious points: Check Out time and the necessity to use the Bedroom Key Fob in the Lift (which created problems for me later that same evening when trying to arrive back to my room ). 3. The Room was still being cleaned when I entered it 4. I was asked if I needed extra hangers for which I replied I needed 4 more . Neither the Receptionist or the Door Man ( who promised them in 5 minutes ) managed to get them to me before I needed to head out 'unpacked' . 5. As I was just about to put my shoes on l avoided (by a stroke of luck ) treading on a large upward facing nail in front of the wardrobe. For which if I had stepped on it would have gone straight into the bottom of my foot. 6. At 8.30am the next day I was awoken by the previous guests alarm call (set on the alarm in the room). 7. I was put on the 7th Floor with no direct Lift access and with no agreement and 2 flights of stairs to climb . Room 701 was one of the smallest rooms I've ever had the misfortune to frequent in Central London. 8. The room was flooded with the smell of food from the hotels exstractor system on the roof . The same stench could be smelt at the lift access level 6 . The issues I have outlined were without exception all down to lack of basic attention to detail that the most inexperienced hotelier would deliver . Basic customer service was at an extremely low ebb v how your brand is actually marketed and pitched . The ethos of your business surrounding Communication, Cleanliness and Suitability was highly questionable.

The staff were extremely attentive and kind and Toni, our concierge, went above and beyond to make things easy for us whether taking shopping bags to our room or arranging our transportation. The holiday decor was exquisite and made the stay all the more special. The location of the hotel is perfect- close to the tube station and a short walk to Covent garden or the British Museum but it’s not in the middle of a touristy area. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice stay in central London.

- Pianoman2014 (10/5): Outstanding lunch - Joined some friends for lunch at this restaurant I had not heard of. Three hours later I left having experienced bliss! The welcome was courteous, polite and friendly. Great atmosphere with very soft background music, spacious seating and luxurious ambience. Superb wine list, a touch pricy but offering a wine for every taste and budget. Starter of seared Cornish scallops, £28, was mouth-wateringly delicious with cauliflower purée, coral mushroom, crispy pig skin yuzu and a saffron butter sauce., accompanied by a superb Chablis. This was followed by dry-aged British Heritage beef fillet, £45. This was easily the most magnificent steak I have ever tasted, with celeriac purée, roscoff onion, goose fat roasted carrot and a rosemary red wine jus, accompanied by Australian Shiraz. To finish my tiramisu bomb,£11, with a white chocolate shell, espresso and disaronno liquid centre and lady finger sponge mascarpone mousse, delightfully cracked by the waiter at the table. Altogether a fantastic experience which I shall definitely repeat one I have won the lottery!

- ajs6890 (10/5): 5-Star Boutique British Hotel - L’Oscar London is a 5-star boutique hotel located in Central London. Prior to our stay on this trip, we had stayed at The Peninsula, The Dorchester and The Berkeley so we had a few high end hotels to directly compare with L’Oscar. Although the hotels we previously stayed at during our trip had different feels given their sizes, the L’Oscar held its own and is a hotel we would consider returning to. If you are into shopping at the high end department stores in Knightsbridge and Mayfair, the L’Oscar is not as convenient as the other hotels we stayed at during our trip, but it’s not that much farther either. Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey and Big Ben are still relatively close to L’Oscar and the hotel certainly has British vibes more than the refined character of The Berkeley and The Peninsula. For the price, L’Oscar London has to be one of the best values for a 5-star hotel in the city. If we had to rank the four hotels we stayed at during our trip to London, The Peninsula would be 1st and L’Oscar would likely be our 2nd choice with The Dorchester firmly bringing up the rear.

We had booked an AirBNB nearby that had no heat, and needed to move on a moment's notice. Yavor at the reception desk at l'Oscar could not have been more helpful and kind. He created a two-connecting room suite for my family and me, and we moved here quickly to be welcomed as if we were longtime guests and friends. This is a STUNNING property, perfectly located to travel anywhere in London quickly. The rooms are gorgeous and spacious, the amenities and restaurant superb. But what makes this hotel so very luxurious is the personal attention provided to you by the staff. Yavor and Florencia at the reception desk, as well as Sarah and Tony and the entire restaurant staff were helpful in ways that i have rarely encountered, remembering and anticipating everything we needed, and even stepping in during a small emergency to make us feel safe and cared for. This is a magnificent hotel in every way. It is the only place I will stay when I am in London again, and has set a high bar that will likely make other hotels we stay in seem disappointing after this experience. Bravo to all.

From the minute we walked in, we were made to feel like honored guests. The interiors are gorgeous and impeccably kept; every space feels intimate, polished, and a little bit theatrical in the best way. Our room was quiet, comfortable, and thoughtfully laid out, with excellent linens and a bed that actually delivers on the promise of a great night’s sleep. Service was the star. From check-in to housekeeping, everyone we interacted with was warm, efficient, and proactive without ever hovering. The team helped make the birthday feel special with gracious touches and smooth, behind-the-scenes coordination. Bar and breakfast were both excellent, with quality ingredients and attentive service that didn’t miss a beat even at busier times. Location is convenient for exploring, yet the hotel itself feels like a retreat once you’re inside. After two stays a year apart, the consistency is impressive: the standards haven’t slipped, and the experience still feels fresh. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended for anyone who values style, comfort, and genuinely polished hospitality.

- danieloV5487CV (10/5): Excellent service from Shifaz and the team for birthday desserts - Had a beautiful evening, sat down in the lobby for tea and cakes for my mum's birthday. My mum, curious as ever, asked about a nice smell in the lobby. Our server Shifaz, completely unprompted, showed my mum around the restaurant and hotel area. She was fascinated by the history and enthusiastically told the table about the interesting history of the hotel. After mentioning about her birthday in passing, Shifaz retrieved a l'oscar balloon for her. He and the whole server team really went above and beyond for our service and made for a relaxing and memorable night!!
- dcdomer (10/5): City Center 5 Star - Had a quick trip to London for a conference and stayed at L’Oscar. Highly recommend. I enjoy staying at independent luxury hotels… but the service by the whole team especially memorable… especially Toni at the door. Check them out!
- arthurgG9375DG (10/5): Wonderful place to stay in London - Location is great to visit London, it is very close to King's Cross. The hotel staff were all very nice and super helpful during our stay. We enjoyed the breakfast choices and the dinner menu. The decor by Jacques Garcia certainly adds up to the overall experience !
- jonigo7 (10/5): Dream Wedding - Our wedding at L’oscar London was unforgettable, thanks to the amazing team who made it all happen. The staff were exceptional -attentive, gracious, and always one step ahead. Athena, our event manager, was incredible and handled every detail with care. Sokol, the food and beverage manager, was calm and kind, even when we faced an unexpected issue with our photographer. Tony and Shivaz(sp) the doormen greeted us daily with genuine smiles, and the reception team, especially Mary and Florencia, were warm and helpful. The restaurant service was flawless. The hotel and rooms are beautiful. We couldn’t be happier with our choice of venue. Our friends who stayed there feel the same. L’oscar London will always hold a special place in our hearts.

- paulhM1013QM (10/5): Another great stay - We stay at L’Oscar every time we come to London. The staff are extremely friendly, the rooms are beautiful, and the restaurant is excellent. All within a short walk to the tube. If you happen to stay there look out for Toni. He gives great recommendations places to go and things to do.

The staff is top notch, the property beautifully decorated and our few requests were aske for and taken care of before we got there. 5 star boutique hotel with great food! Made a very memorable trip for me and my family. Truly hope to stay again next time in London!

- thothx (8/5): Lovely Stay, with a few quirks - My partner and I had a lovely time there over 4 nights in October 2025. In addition to staying there, we also enjoyed afternoon tea in the restaurant. The hotel is well decorated, with lovely touches all over. At only 39 rooms, it is easy to feel special, but truthfully that special feeling was missing e.g. welcoming you back by name after returning. We were extremely confused by the sight of someone selling hot dogs just outside the front door (someone from L'Oscar) on Southampton Row. We felt this detracted from the feel of the hotel. Surely they make enough money from guests, and don't need the 7 GBP hot dogs.
- stephendgoldman (8/5): Great service and a nice stay. - L’Oscar has wonderful service and the people go out of their way to be helpful and friendly. Toni, the combination everything at the door, is extremely knowledgeable and personable. The front desk staff was also helpful. The breakfasts were outstanding. The only issue we had was that the room decor was a bit dark and “bordelloesque.”
- 460adamc (10/5): Boutique feel with 5 Star service - in a city with many excellent hotels, L’Oscar stands apart for its combination of design and service. As a first-time guest you will feel more like a long-time member of the city’s most exclusive private club. Rooms are stunning and spacious, and best of all, quiet and private. Will return.
