Guest Reviews
- Shene (10/5): -
- Courtney (6/5): Good value for money if you plan to spend more time exploring the town than in the room. - Location was really good, facilities were all clean and well presented and for what you get, its good value for money. You are quite close to the main road, so it's definitely not a quiet and relaxing stay. My house in Joburg is quieter, and we could hear the other guests who were loud coming home in the evenings.
- Robert (10/5): Comfortable an cosy stay - We liked the location very close to the Town and could easily walk from the accommodation for sightseeing. The recommendation of a restaurant to have a lovely walk nearby , The Couchhouse Pub and the service and meal was excellent with a lovely log fire in the liunge There were no negative to highlight only a very good stay.
- nicholas (7/5): Basic -
- Privilege Charmaine (9/5): A Fabulous Break - We enjoyed our stay. It was easy to find because it is on the main road. Check in and out was very smooth. The room was clean and spacious. The beds were super comfortable and warm. The establishment is within walking distance from alot of the restaurants. I enjoyed the walks breathing in fresh air. The noise from the road was negligible. We slept well. Wild about Whisky is conveniently located in the same building. It was a good break from the city craziness. A microwave in the room to heat up leftovers would have been great.
- Kim (9/5): Excellent, would recommend it. - Everything was clean, bedding was exceptional and attention to detail. Getting the key was difficult and when calling the person was not very friendly.
- Elmay (5/5): The description of the room set up is misleading; there is one room and a living room with a bed in it offering no priva - That it had comfortable beds. The description of the property stated that there are two rooms, one with an en-suite bathroom, and a living room area. In actuality, there is one bedroom and the living room has a second bed as part of the living room space. The en-suite bathroom is a bathroom that is attached to the living room/“second bedroom”. Additionally, even though the venue is located on the town’s main road which makes it easy to walk to some of the main attractions, it is incredibly noisy at night. Not a fault of the venue but something to consider. An endless stream of trucks, groups of motorcycles, cars, and often times intoxicated/otherwise loud pedestrians can be heard all day and night. During the day and afternoon the courtyard/bar area is also very noisy because of patrons.
- Mashiza (9/5): I made a good choice - Decent size apartment which is very clean and situated in a nice location close to all amenities.Check in/out was seamless Nothing
- Van Vuren (9/5): -
- Radoslaw (10/5): Highly recommeded place to stay in Dullstroom - Everything was spot on, easy check in, great location right in the middle of Dullstroom , great view, fanststic hosts, secure gated car park N/A
- Louise (10/5): Great place to relax - Very clean and spacious N/A
- Bonnie (8/5): -
- booyens (9/5): -
- Allen (7/5): -
- Roos (10/5): - Easy access to travel to other areas for sightseeing.
Walking distance to restaurants. Staff gave suggestions on what to do in the area. Friendly staff. A lot of road noise from trucks from the main road.
- Linette (10/5): -
- Viljoen (8/5): - Overall accommodation was good No bath, for a family room a bath is needed for little ones
- Amanda (8/5): -
- Rhyan (10/5): Perfect for exploring Dullstroom! - The reception was clearly prepared for our arrival. The room was beautiful, comfortable and had everything we needed. Safe parking out of view from the street. Nice size fridge with coffee & tea making facilities. Extra blankets meant we didn't even need to use the fireplace. Brilliantly located to explore the town. We cannot think of any recommendations for improvement.
- Mbokane (5/5): - It was closer to restaurants
- Melanie (9/5): -
- Debbie (10/5): Most pleasant - Friendly, efficient staff. Lovely accommodation. Very clean, spacious. Everything was perfect
- Alejandro (4/5): -
- Shawn (10/5): Best stay in Dullstroom!!! - Everything was perfect.
From the key pick up all the way to the drop off.
Would definitely recommend Auldstone House to anyone.
- Lourens (8/5): Weekend Experience - All you need for a place to sleep Very old aged, need some modernizing.
- Tania (8/5): Perfect for an overnight travel stop over. - Excellent We could have been warmer. We had a fireplace but the heat did not warm the room.
- Marlene (8/5): Convenient location - Very spacious, room cleaned daily and items like tea, coffee, Blitz & firewood replaced daily. Ideal location. The parking area was a bit small - there are 6 units but only parking for 5 vehicles. On our second evening someone parked a bit skew so only 4 cars could fit. Allocated parking areas per unit could perhaps be helpful. We had a double bed, and the electric blanket was a single bed blanket placed horisontically across the bed - so only our upper bodies had heat from below.
- Jolinda (10/5): Exceptional - The wood for the fireplace was a nice extra and the proximity to everything in town. Nothing.
- Derna (8/5): Dullstroom July 2025 - Close to the centre of town. Stunning views from the front row units. Noise from the bar on ground floor. Had a little one who struggled to sleep due to the rowdiness. May be suitable for travellers without babies sensitive to noise.
- Snyman (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amy (9/5): Superb -
- Kate-marie (8/5): We will stay here again - Perfect location and very helpful owners who went out of their way to assist us. Some of the rooms had fire places, unfortunately ours was one that didn't, so it was a bit cold. The electric blankets were really great!!
- Kayleigh (5/5): Dullstroom weekend away - Central to the whole town, right above Wild about Whiskey. We had fireplaces in our rooms, which was necessary in the cold weather. We suspect there was a sewerage problem because when getting back to the rooms at night, there was a horrible smell in both our rooms. Being so close to the main road, the trucks and traffic at night was a bit loud. There isn't enough parking for the amount of rooms.
- Pieter (7/5): Good. - No breakfast was available on property The room had no warming. No aircondition or any heaters. There was a fireplace but only warm up the room in the evenings. There was 'n electric blanket on the bed. But fact remains. The room was cold in the mornings and during the day.
- Marius (9/5): All in all, good stay with good value for money. - Location, cleanliness and comfort Very noisy in the evenings. Not sure if the sounds were coming grom downstairs but I suspect so.
- Pool (8/5): romantic weekend - The centralness of the place Nothi g
- Weinerlein (8/5): Very good - No place to sit outside or braai
- C (9/5): Superb -
- Thorold (8/5): Very good -
- Sandile (10/5): Exceptional - Picked up keys at the restaurant for an after hours check in Nothing
- Caroline (7/5): Good -
- Megan (7/5): Good - The location is excellent, right in town. The room was comfortable and the fireplace made it very cosy. It could have been cleaner, and the wifi didn't really work in the room.
- Diederick (7/5): Good -
- Sarah (10/5): PERFECT! - It's a private and safe place I've ever been to, a very beautiful and welcoming suite ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Everything was perfect
- Jeremy (6/5): The stay was good. The house was in walking distance to all the amenities only a bit dark and misty - The vicinity to all the restaurants The area is a bit noisy (Mian Street) with all the traffic passing the establishment.
- Tania (9/5): Superb -
- Kayla (10/5): A wonderful experience. The accommodation is a walk away from the towns main restaurants. - The bedding was super clean and so comfortable
- Elbra (5/5): Passable - Location was close to all amenities. Room number 6 was musty and damp. There is nomicrowave oven to warm food, which is now a standard service in all guest houses.
- Andre (9/5): Well located, good value for money. Highly recommended. - This guesthouse is well located, easily accessible. Friendly staff, save parking. We had a great view from our balcony. It is noisy because it is located next to the road. Not the fault of the guesthouse.
- Brenda (8/5): Very good -
- Mariaan (7/5): Good -
- Brendon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roger (10/5): Exceptional - Ideally suited as an overnight stay on our way to the bush camp outside Hoedspruit. Fully fitted, warm and comfortable
- David (7/5): Hot shower and a comfortable bed - Convenient and secure N/A
- Xanthe (10/5): It was an enjoyable weekend. Wil definitely recommend it to my friends. - Perfect.
- Arne (8/5): Very good -

- Trevor (8/5): Very good -
- Kim (9/5): Superb -
- Du (9/5): Superb -
- Conrad (9/5): Really enjoyed the fireplace tremendously and view. - Awesome view Maybe just do a good clean or doom in the room cupboard. there were fish moths. In the left bottom shelf.
- Sanjay (10/5): SUPER AWESOME STAY. WILL DEFINITELY RECOMMEND YOU -
- Shawn (10/5): Perfect start of our honeymoon. - Everything about this place was perfect. Staff was friendly. The service was excellent.
We will definitely be booking here again on our next visit. Nothing
- Frikkie (6/5): It was wonderful and relaxing! - Stylish and comfortable, close to everything. The towels smelled like cigarettes, the bathroom tap didn’t work.
- Subashni (8/5): Very good -
- Neoline (7/5): Good - The arrangement with the keys was good and overall the place was neat and clean. The apartment is rather a 1 bedroom with another bed in the living room, which can be ideal for a family, but not for 2 couples. I did not enjoy sleeping in the living room where the others have to pass through to use the bathroom. Although there were electric blankets on the beds, there were no other heating due to the solar energy. The apartment was thus very cold especially considering that our visit was early July and Dullstroom is known to be very cold during the winter months. A gas heater would have been greatly appreciated. I would rather choose another place in the future during the winter.
- Danel (7/5): Good - Everything was perfect but we would have loved more fire wood. It was cold that night and the wood only lasted about 2 hours.
- Mathilda (9/5): Weekend away - Everything, comfortable beds, electric blankets, fireplace The fridge was not getting cold and no knob to try and set it
- Ansa (8/5): Very good - All of the stay, the view and fireplace
- Alberts (8/5): Very good -
- Chrisna (8/5): Very good value for money. - I really like the good service. The pipes were frozen one morning and the one electrical blanket did not work , but the hosts were excellent in resolving the issues promptly. I also think the property is very good value for money. Perhaps a room heater instead of blankets only? And a few more large plates. But these were minor issues.
- Fj (10/5): it was cosy with the fireplace -
- Grundling (7/5): Good - Nice bed ans cussions. Smelling in the room. Curtains look terrible, one short 1 long. Not ironed.. carpets dirtyl
- Marne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Warren (7/5): Good -
- Murray (8/5): Very good -
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Briedenhann (8/5): Very good - Noisy road
- Janina (9/5): Fantastic. - Very easy to get the keys and well described. I would have preferred a shower instead of a bathtub, but that's just personal preference.
- Whitehead (2/5): Very poor - Nothing much Not as advertised. No storage space. No table space. No view as advertised. Poor standard.
- Kobus (1/5): Bad - Room were clean and cosy There is no water to flush the toilet, to wash.
We had to go and buy water to flush the toilet and to wash.We had to drive to the nearest garage to use their toilet
We were 2 couples not enough coffee in the room.
No contact numbers
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ana (9/5): Superb - The location is excellent. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
- Bruce (8/5): Good as expected. - Location is ideal for our requirements. I am a return customer, happy with the setup.
- Pravina (9/5): Superb -
- Alesandro (7/5): Room was great location bad - Great room great people . Clean ans tidy The trucks driving past the whole night . Slept poorly
- Marina (9/5): Superb -
- Fatima (8/5): Auldston: beautiful, quite - Didn't have Breakfast!!! Hand towels: Had a weird smell ( fire smell)
Sheets:
Duvet: Was tucked in at the bottom, that one could not reach to cover ones body
( I have been to guest 🏠 and hotels: never once the above has happened.
Carpet seemed dirty.
- James (8/5): Absolutely awesome - Loved the rooms, safe parking and comfy distance from all the action in town Our room didnt have a fire place - would have worked perfectly during loadshedding in winter
- James (7/5): In Town, walking distance from all main road shops - Clean, nice bed No Microwave or hob
- Allen (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice place . A must stay
- Duncan (8/5): reallly good - was lovely place the noise from the alarm and road and other people. its great for business but not for a holiday
- Charne (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely room, warm an cosy. Could add a small microwave.
- Natalie (5/5): Passable - It was clean. Housekeeping was sufficient. No fire place, on a pretty cold weekend, is lousy. No water during load shedding. Insufficient backup lighting during load shedding. Not really a child/family friendly accommodation.
- Natasja (5/5): Passable - The location and the size of the room was excellent! No wifi, no back up during loadshedding
- Garron (8/5): Very good -
- Gillon (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, comfortable, friendly hosts
- Engela (8/5): Very good -
- Ruth (4/5): Should advise guests that noise is a problem - Room was spacious and beds very comfortable. The trucks coming through town felt like they were going straight through our bedroom. It was very disturbing and we did think it would have a better view.
- Wayne (5/5): Not bad. Bed was comfy. - Location was good. Close to town. Bed was comfortable. Could hear rats running around in the roof all night.
