- 11shirleym (6/5): Served a purpose - Stayed 1 night, last minute booking. Great location & bed comfortable. Our room was at front of Hotel facing main street, so very noisy from passers by/traffic. Room needs an upgrade, peeling paint, big chunk missing from dressing table top, scruffy looking furniture. The bathroom was nice as think it was new with a powerful shower. Corridors unkempt with litter lying around, marked walls & doors and threadworn carpets.
- lindafJ9783KN (2/5): Awful, zero stars. - Where do we start… our teens needed a central location with varying things on. One teen just wanted to watch the footy on channel 7 on his birthday. We went out for tea then settled in. We had every channel except 7. When we went to enquire we were given some lame excuse as to why they couldn’t get channel 7. They offered to put it on in the bar but that’s it. No apologies, nothing. Maybe advertise that you can’t get all the channels. Make it clear. Also poor signage couldn’t work out how to check in, have to do this in the pokies room. Teens can’t go in there. Everything is tired, worn, not worth the money. Don’t stay here or eat here not worth wasting hard earned money. We left and didn’t even stay the night, they didn’t even ask why we are leaving or offer any refund or nothing.

Aircon was pointing at bed so i found i got cold and turned it off then two hours later woke hot and turned it back on- Not best design
- ivonl15 (8/5): Beautiful Old Building in a Quaint Town - We had a room in the original building overlooking the main street. It was small, clean, comfy and all we needed. Checkin was in the gaming room, not my cup of tea, but had no problems with it. Didn't eat at the hotel restaurant because there are lots of interesting options within staggering distance. Parking off street was plentiful, which is a good thing because the town is very busy on weekends.
- deanwebb2016 (10/5): Thursday Steak & Wine night - Appears they have a Special most nights. Thursday is Steak & Red Wine night for $35 pp. Excellent value and the steak was very good. Even after a big lunch at The Lane Vineyard, I still managed to eat the whole thing. Special mention to “James”, the young bartender and waiter. A very impressive young man, very welcoming, friendly, and always displaying a positive attitude, even under pressure. You can’t teach that stuff !!

Not only are they tiny for the money, the fittings are in terrible condition with peeling paint and veneers. Every piece of furniture in the room past its useby date years ago. The carpet on the stairs is completely worn through to the timber underneath and if you have to leave early in the morning, the hallway is pitch dark. The rooms are bathed in light all night as the feeble curtains don't block out the outside spotlights facing the building. In short stay somewhere else!

- Nick (2/5): - While this hotel is in a super convenient location, the rooms above the hotel are in incredibly poor condition and need a combination of repairs and updates. The bed was truly awful. The mattress was ancient with springs that poked out and creaked with every movement. The mattress also didn't seem to fit properly on the base properly so it constantly felt like you were falling off the edge. I had a dreadful night sleep and might have fared better on the floor. The bed head was extremely scratched and resembled something from the scene of an exorcism. I fear to imagine the terrible things that happened in this room previously where something had tried to escape. Things were there but mostly didn't mork. The lamp didn't work, the tv remote didn't work and the tap behind the toilet was leaking. If it couldn't get worse, the small window had a thin curtain that didn't block the exterior flood light that was shining straight into the window that lit up the entire room. Due to the previous comments on the bed, I was awake and can confirm the flood light is turned off at around 2:45am. There were some positives. The ceiling, which you will stare at, had an authentic German look to it and the staff were friendly, but you had to check in and talk to them in the pokie room of the hotel.

- Explorer49090270023 (10/5): Bus stop right out the front and the most pieceful feel to accommodate our stay - The Old Mill offers a truly authentic German accommodation experience. There's nothing better than hopping off the bus in Hahndorf and being dropped right at the front door—so convenient! The rooms are tucked out the back of the Old Mill, surrounded by a magical, almost majestic atmosphere. I loved that the space hadn’t been overly modernised—it kept the charm and character that made the stay feel so special. Updating it would’ve taken away from the experience. The bed was a real king-sized bed—none of those annoying two singles zipped together. We could actually snuggle up properly, and a coffee machine to enjoy a strong morning coffee, this made all the difference. It’s basic, but brilliant. Simple comfort, beautiful surroundings, and within walking distance to all the lovely cafes Hahndorf has to offer. Would absolutely stay again.

Toilet paper so thin it was almost invisible - had to be careful not to touch my tonsils when using ! Disappointing because it is a great location. Not sure that I would stay there again. Not many options in Hahndorf as such a popular town.

Furniture in room old, broken and tired. Looks as if it’s come out of a different hotel(second hand). Bathroom drains smelly. Only tiny bottles of shampoo/conditioner. Bottle of water in fridge had been filled up from bathroom tap. WiFi was non existent the whole two nights. Teabags uncovered. Lamps and light fittings ripped and broken. Carpet on entrance in threadbare. Toilet brush was disgusting. Air conditioner barely got warm. Flat/old pillows. Need replacing. Then the big trucks started thundering past at 4am. So noisy. 4 saggy little hangers in cupboard. Needs an upgrade

The locked internal door between our the neighbouring accommodation offered no noise barrier to our their conversations and television. The weather was 6 degrees and the airconditioner took a long time to work. The accommodation needs refurbishment, very outdated furnishings. Would not recommend. We did not stay and was only charged one night.
- Cristie (4/5): - The staff were very friendly and the food was fantastic. The room looked great ( king spa chalet room 229). The accommodation was extremely disappointing, the pungent aroma of mould from wet skirting boards was overwhelming. We spoke to the staff and were moved to a different room which was no where near what we had booked, double bed and small tv. We were told that this room (229)had only just been listed again after being closed due to the damage and obviously hadn’t been checked between. For the price we paid even more disappointing. The room we were put in has cobwebs throughout and moldy shower curtains and dripping taps. There wasn’t any dishwashing liquid which spoke with staff about, they got housekeeping to attend to this. Housekeeping didn’t know what a dishcloth was, after explaining what was needed further they asked to refill the container (there wasn’t one). The staff did offer some drinks to apologize. The two star rating is purely due to the amazing staff who shouldn’t be having to deal with so many complaints due to the poor and dangerous condition of the room, these staff are also being exposed to the mould any time they enter the room, airing it out will not fix it.

- Paul (2/5): - Dont know where to start but here goes. We were greated in the pokies room for check in. Signed the check in form then told no smoking or throwing the tv out the window. Proceeded to our room over the charming bridge above the cesspool of a creek. Entered our room to lovely stains on the carpet, cracked gyprock, lipstick stained bath. No remote for tv, aircon did its own thing. After dinner laid down in the comfortable bed and just about to doze of when the drunken couple next door stumbled past our door as loud as possible. I laid there trying to sleep over the extremely loud woman. Finally started to doze of to the sounds of heaving moaning from said lady next door. Barely asleep 2 minutes and i woken by old mate starting to moan like he was passing a kidney stone out of his old fella. Lucky old mate only lasted a few minutes i was then able to doze off again. Fast forward to 530 am to be woken by loud talking again from next door, luckily they left not long after. $260 and felt like i was the one who got fu#ked.

- Stacie (2/5): - Do not stay in the upstairs rooms. Moldy and dilapidated. Stains on the bed and furniture falling apart. We left immediately and drop home. This is not an exaggeration.

- Colin (6/5): - No Information regarding meals, services or attractions in room. Only analog TV in room. To few Staff and seemed rushed. i.e. Tried to get a tap beer 3 different times only to be told they were cleaning lines. First staff member gave me 2 half glasses?? Last time waited about 15 minutes then had to remined staff member Poor service. Hope i just got a bad day!!!
- Liz (4/5): - I just needed a bed. That’s what I got. Its name is right, it’s OLD. it’s tired and overpriced.
- Family (6/5): - Rooms were clean, tidy & spacious. The best feature was the huge 80” TV. Unfortunately universal remote buttons only programmed to change channels & no volume. Other downsides were; wall had 1m crack behind the headboard. Bathroom was old & dated with a spa. The whole cornice around the room was cracked & flaking with a 2-5mm gap all the way around the room. Front door handle was a bit loose.

- Stewart (6/5): - The property was pretty dated. A bit tired & rough around the edges. But it was clean, the bed was comfy, the room was warm (when it was very cold outside) & the shower was great - one of the best ever in a hotel.
- Philip (8/5): - The room was comfortable but insufficient power outlets to charge phones, etc. Customer service was excellent but housekeeping a little ordinary for a 2 night stay.

- Amber (2/5): - I understand the place is under renovations but the state of our room was not great, there was blood on my pillow that was visible through the pillowcase. The general state of the room was dank, dirty and unkempt, laminate peeling off all the furniture. Blanket was stained thankfully the aircon worked for heating.
- judy (8/5): - Room was clean but bathroom was outdated and no storage. Very friendly helpfull staff. We were able to check in earlier.
- Geoffrey (6/5): - Our 2pm check in time was pushed back 1 hour with no explanation or apology. The room was of a much lower standard than those shown on the internet. Room was clean and comfortable.

- Karen (8/5): - The check in person was super friendly and informative. The room was lovely, spacious and quirky. On the negative side, heat pump was ineffective and bothersome to try and operate, amenities left a bit to be desired. For example no standard teabags only earl grey, which is an acquired taste that myself and many others have not acquired. Wine glasses supplied but no corkscrew (very odd oversight in a wine producing region) and the bar/restaurant lacked any decor appeal or comfortable seating. The single smouldering log on the fire also failed to offer any heat or ambience.

- James (10/5): - Great location some renovations that will improve the ad hoc nature of the reception and front "Dome" area that didn't have a huge impact on the service and ease to get around. The staff were amazing and friendly. We had great personal service from Sara for overall quality and friendliness including a tour of proposed changes. Sara was aided by the lovely Abbey and Lauren at the bar.
