• Oliver (10/5): Amazing! - The cleanliness is superb. I also like their policy for no smoking and vaping. Though the comfort room is a common area, it's really clean and functional! The water is ample. Not really what I don't like. But I would like to suggest that the staff (the 2 boys) must have their uniform, polo shirt with the logo of the hostel. The boys should also be more friendly and entertaining. They should not feel afraid or ashamed to the clients. I hope they will improve in this matter. But I would like to commend their patience. The owner (woman) and her child are very friendly and entertaining. She should orient her boys about how to entertain the guests better. They should start the aircon an hour before the guest arrives. hehehe

Maybe it could be nice to have a common place to relax in case of rainy days

The family owners were so friendly and they all gave me recommendations on things to do and places to visit in the Albay/Bicol/Legazpi area; they made me a list for me… that was priceless! Everything was clean, super spacious room and the view from the rooftop was just beautiful: the Mayon volcano in all its glory! My fav accommodation in the Philippines for sure!

• Shanece (9/5): Superb - I loved my stay here. The hosts were so accomodating constantly texting me recommendations of things to do in Legazpi, and what restaurants to go to. One of the employees was always around too which was always helpful, and on our last morning the hosts daughters even brought us chocolate and tea, which was so sweet!! The view of Mt Mayon from the accomodation was beautiful too!! Whilst there weren't many others in the hostel at the time I was there, it was nevertheless very peaceful, and its location was very convenient - especially to the local mall, and activities like the ATV rides. the AC sometimes had to be reloaded a couple times to work, but this wasn't a major problem, as it always worked once it was switched on and off again, and there were fans in the rooms to supplement this. There was also a lack of hot water, but I didnt find this to be a problem as it was so hot anyway - it was quite cooling!

Summer was very helpful when I had to restructure my plans and had great recommendations. Very clean, organised and reliable. From the roof you have a great view on Vulcano Mayon. It is not a social hostel with a lot of backpackers. But it could be that this city is just not a backpacker area (at that time).

• Randulf (6/5): Pleasant - About the two kids who entertained me at the front desk, both of them polite and smart. kudos to their parents. I have nothing but praise for the location and cleanliness of the facilities two thumbs up is my only comment. Im sorry but i need to share it, a wake up call to the owner and hopefully it will not happened again to the others. It is an issue with the foreigner who was with me in the room. It was early in the morning when his girlfriend arrived, at first i was thinking maybe just a short convo for the couple and after awhile she will leave the room. But to my surprise it was another way around, he leave the room and let his girlfriend rest and stayed to sleep. I felt awkwardness, and unable to move normally because of the situation. Ended i decide to leave the premise just to give way. Lastly, the guy(staff) who assist them he knew the situation but he didn't say anything.

• Kristina (10/5): Exceptional - I absolutely loved my stay here!! The hosts are superb 😊 they helped me so much and were so friendly. They couldn't have done more for me and I'll be eternally grateful to them. When a driver wasn't available to take me to places I wanted to visit, they drove me for the same price as a driver would have. It would have been really difficult to do everything I wanted to without them. Their children are adorable! Everywhere was immaculately clean. The shower was warm and had good pressure. The WiFi and air conditioning worked perfectly. They provided shower gel, hand soap and free water refills. I really recommend doing the ATV tour near the volcano through them, it was amazing! It's near a mall with lots of restaurants. The rooftop provides an amazing view of the volcano as well It's a little hard to get around without a scooter or driver. But I managed to do everything I wanted to and more despite this. I fully recommend staying here!

Summer, the host was very friendly and helpful with information about the city, the volcano and various activities for tourists. The hostel itself is very spacious. The dormitories are comfortable, bathrooms clean and the roof terrace offers fantastic views of the city and the vulcano. JDL is the only hostel in the Legazpi so it's your best shot at meeting other travellers. I'm sure I will stay there again when I come back to this lovely vibrant city.
• Aileen (4/5): Airport transfer is a scam. Download GRAB app instead and book your transfer from there! - Facility is good with a nice view of Mayon and the rate for room is quiet reasonable. Scam on car transfer to airport which is double the price compared to grab car. Yes, grab car is already available in the area and I texted Summer an hour prior to departure from the hostel when I found out that grab car is available with half the price of what she is charging me on the airport transfer that she arranged. She said she didn't received my text even after showing her it was sent successfully and she was receiving all my texts prior. Just dissapointed that a Bicolana would do this to her fellow bicolana if she really wanted to be of help. I wonder, how much more to foreign guests? So if you'd still wanna book here, better download the Grab app and book your transfer going to the airport instead.

Never had a problem with water pressure in the shower area 4. Staff were accommodating and friendly. Not a dislike but more of a suggestion, more food options (rice meals specifically) and fan rooms should have a window for good ventilation.

If I have an extra budget I would go to a place that has a - Not too bad for the rate and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. The A/C stopped working in the middle of the night and the staff came in to reset it. The water was slow to drain in the shower room and flows out to the floor by the sink.

Literally OCD standard. 📍Check In - 1.00 PM, Check Out - 11.00AM 📍Bunk bed comes with a towel, a blanket, a locker (along with dedicated key), hot/cold water filter. 📍Wi-fi is strong and covers the entire floor. 📍Within 2KM radius there is SM Mall, Bus Stand and more than 18 restaurants. 📍Within 2 minutes walking distance there is an asian restaurant, laundry shop and a grocery store. 📍Bonus: Rooftop gets a volcano view if the sky and weather is clear.
• Lynne (9/5): For JDL Residences Hostel _ more guests, more blessings, and double portions of rewards from God... - In March 2023, my aspiration of travelling to the Bicol region to see the grandeur of Mount Mayon was actualized. There were a number of hotel/hostel options to choose from when I was browsing a few websites; but the moment I saw JDL Residences Hostel, I immediately dropped all other options in mind. First, the picture of the facade attracted my attention; and when I reached the property, I wasn't disappointed. It has well-painted wide gates, a spacious front parking area, and a quiet and decent neighbourhood. Indeed, it is a very good place within a subdivision. The owners and their staff are truly good-hearted. On a scale of 1-10, the cleanliness of the whole hostel scores the highest, i.e.10. For the politeness of their hardworking staff, 10 as well; and for the facilities and overall comfort that I had experienced, I would give a score of 8.5 as it was just because the air-conditioning system was not in a state of readiness to operate. Standing electric fans are available, though. It is a score of 10 for value for money. Although the room allotted for my 7 nights/8 days of stay has 3 bunk beds for 6 pax, I was the only one who occupied it all throughout the week. However, I would have been happier if I had companions. All in all, I had a mega amazing stay in JDL Residences Hostel. Lastly, but the most wonderful blessing I had was having viewed from their rooftop _ the Mayon Volcano with its perfect cone and symmetry. To Ms. Summershine and family, to the staff Jerome and Jomar, THANK YOU very much for my enjoyable stay in your property. I pray and faithfully declare and claim for YOUR HOSTEL _ more guests, more blessings, and double portions of rewards from God. The air-conditioning system was not in a state of readiness to operate.

She's so helpful and kind, she gave me a lot of suggestions of restaurants, places to visit and helped with the taxi at 4h30 am. The hostel is clean and nice, very well located less than 10 min walking to SM city - main bus terminal. You can see Mayon volcano from the rooftop. For solo backpackers, it's missing a common chill area.

• Marleen (8/5): Lovely staff and beautiful view from rooftop. - I had a lovely stay in this hostel. Staff is friendly and the owner Sunshine, you can whats app her when you need information or help. The rooms and bathrooms are clean. The view on the rooftop is amazing:) You need a tricycle or your own to get somewhere. But I think thats with every Hostel in Legazpi.
• Surmieda (7/5): Nice, comfortable stay ! Thanks to the management . - Clean ,and safe place to stay. The rooftop view of mt mayon was scenic . The place is accessible to the bus lines terminal. The staff are attentive to our needs , and gives suggestions on the tourist attractions of the city. The doorknob is not working well, replacement needed . Water goes out of the bathroom floor . The tiles will be better if elevated in areas surrounding the shower cubicles. Food service / canteen will also help guests esp when the weather is not fine.

• Niecel (8/5): overrall i enjoyed my stay there - the rest rooms are clean. could improve each shower room by adding hooks for bags since this is a dorm type hostel. the roof top also has a great view of the volcano and it's fun to stay there early in the morning and in the evening it's a little pricey with hidden fees.

The building/hostel itself is away from the city noise. We had a good night rest during our stay. The location is in the heart of the city, very near to banks, restaurants, a few km away from the Cagsawa Ruins and some tourist spots in the area.
