Guest Reviews
- Ian (10/5): Room with a view. - Wow what a location.
Gemma came and met us for check in, everything was ready and organized, easily process to get us swiftly sorted.
After a long drive from the south of England.
The lounge has the most amazing view, the tv is small, who cares? the is ever changing.
The location is fantastic and only a few minutes drive to the great little village of Dunkeld.
Beautiful walks, I could go on, and on!
- Mauricio (10/5): - Really lovely place. Quite comfy and clean.
- Marie-paule (10/5): - Gemma and David were very welcoming and answered all our questions quickly. The location is stunning. The cottage is a great size, plenty of space and is very comfortable. Things like handsoap, washing up liquid, toilet roll etc are all provided. Lovely to have the log fire too and also a firepit in the garden which is fenced off and secure for the dog. Just a short walk to the hermitage trail and on to Dunkeld. You would be hard pushed to find such a great accommodation in such a beautiful area.
- Robert (10/5): - Great walks available. Peaceful place and great hosts!
- Rebecca (10/5): February stay - This is our second visit and we would highly recommend to anyone looking for a beautiful rural location.
Perfect for outdoor loving families.
The surroundings are stunning. We watched deer climbing the fellside each morning and horses in the field below. There views in all directions are spectacular.
There is plenty of walking from the doorstep which is great for children and dogs.
We received a lovely warm welcome from the owners who were nearby if needed.
- Scott (10/5): - Set in an amazing area, we stayed here when visiting the enchanted forest in pitlochry, and could easily have stayed longer if we had the time.
- Regina (10/5): - I was a little bit skeptical at first: the property is reached by a one lane road, off a small two lane road, off a regional road. Typical Scotland. Yet, once there, it was magnificent. The cottage was adjacent to two cottages and next to small bio domes which seemed interesting to stay also. Our cottage was very spacious, clean, airy, great kitchen and despite its perceived isolation had all possible amenities. Very nice host who welcomed us with a bottle of wine. It was beautiful to wake up and walk around the property surrounded by beautiful and quiet scenery. I was expecting a flock of sheep to come by anytime. Despite its isolation, the property is in fact only 5/10 minute by car to Dunkeld where one can find all the amenties, restaurants, pubs, etc. Next time, I will stay one week.
- Peter (10/5): Book it now, fabulous. - A beautifully built and presented stone cottage nestled in the hills a stones throw away from Dunkeld.
Gemma was there to meet us and settle us in and left us with a complementary bottle of wine.
So quiet, clean and comfortable with lovely views, Kennacoil is an ideal location for exploring this stunning part of Scotland.
- Samantha (10/5): - It was a lovely property and the views were breathtaking
- Verified traveler (10/5): A lovely spot - A lovely wee cottage in a beautiful setting. Immaculately clean! Perfect for a short mother/daughter break. We loved watching swallows swooping about and feeding their chicks.
- Bruce (10/5): - I only booked for one night and had a pod for 3 people and a pod for 6 people. The pod for 6 people was ideal for us having a set of bunk beds, a large double bed and a futon bed and was also pet friendly. There was also space for luggage and for our camping chairs which we brought in for seating. The pod for 3 was compact with really only space for 3 people to sleep which is what we expected. The toilets and showers were fantastic as was the well equipped kitchenette. The pods are basic which is exactly what you would expect and pay for. Just the job!!!
- Ian (10/5): Short Break - We arrived slightly early at the apartment, there was a number to call and within 5 minutes we were met by Gemma. She showed us around, gave us sll the information we require, not to mention a bottle of wine. The accommodation is superb, warm and cosy. Everything you'd need for a relaxing break, tv, board games, dvds, fully equiped kitchen with washer/dryer and all incredibly clean. We absolutely loved it, do much so we booked an additional night whilst here. A short walk and you're at the Hermitage, short drive you can be in Dunkeld,Pitlochry or Perth. Train station 5 mins away too. All in all, we loved it and most certainly will be returning. We stayed in the pet friendly apartment due to our 2 frenchies coming with us, loads of dog walking near by too.
- Claire (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay in the camping pod, what beautiful views of the countryside. We particularly enjoyed sitting around the firepit and the kids loved running around the hills. We will definitely be back, thank you!
- Sally-Anne (10/5): Perfect camping pods.5* - Lovely alternative to a tent. Perfect when the weather is a little unpredictable like summer 2024. Warm clean showers, lovely little communal kitchen with toaster fridge and microwave. The dogs loved the local dog walks. Views are amazing!!
- Ghada (10/5): - Host and property were exceptional, amazing location, could not have asked for a better stay
- Gordon (10/5): - Very nice spot, nice hosts if you get the weather it's the perfect glamping spot.
- Fion (10/5): - Amazing view, property utilities are clean and tidy.
The host is nice and helpful.
Highly recommended.
- Emma (10/5): - Kennacoil was stunning!!! Gemma the host was so hospitable from the moment we arrived and was easy to reach if we needed anything. We stayed in Craiglaggan and as a family of three this apartment was everything we needed and more. The apartment had everything you need away from home. The property was clean and modern but it didn’t take away from the stunning scenery that wraps around the property.
- Jennifer (10/5): Amazing, take your own mattress - Gorgeous location, setup and the host was so friendly.
Don’t rely on the mattresses they give you as they are really thin and make for a super uncomfortable night
- Katherine (10/5): - Beautiful view, lovely little cottage. Very friendly and helpful, thank you!
- Tracey (4/5): - Sorry to Kennacoil as I’ve never stayed in a pod before and I simply hated it, I couldn’t wait to get away. Obviously this is just my personal opinion so I’m sure many people have loved their stay here, me however I will never stay in a pod again for as long as I live.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Excellent glamping pods and facilities. Very welcoming and helpful. Site is lovely and a great spot to watch Red Kites.
- Kristina (4/5): - The pod was clean and a picnic table was provided outside, and a fire pit, which were nice. (Own firewood needed, but sold on property.).
The pod was exactly the size of the 4 mattresses provided. A tiny lamp and fan in a tiny shelf were the only other items inside. Thankfully we were only 3 people so we “had room” for our bags. If we had been 4 we really would not have been able to have anything inside with us.
- Lucy (10/5): Beautiful kennacoil - We stayed in a cottage overlooking the valley, we enjoyed two nights here after travelling down from brora. The hosts were very welcoming and accommodating. The cottage was well equipped and the beds are super comfy. Lots to see and do in the area, we hope to be back next year.
- Raymond (10/5): - 3 nights - perfect - great views - never opened my laptop
- Ramesh (8/5): Excellent place to stay - Excellent location, all amenities, welcome drink and very nice host. Beautiful view of the hills. A serene place and very close to small town. Good walk’s nearby,
- Ian (8/5): - Unique location
- Alison (8/5): - Beautiful location, excellent amenities. Pod cosy but a little tightly packed with 4. Parking areas a little small and tricky to negotiate
- Trevor (10/5): - The views are amazing and the facilities were very clean and tidy. Great place to relax and forget about the world.
- Richard (10/5): - Very convenient for the Hermitage walking area, lovely site and super helpful hosts
- Zenab (10/5): - We really enjoyed our time at the pod
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect adventure - Over night adventure with the little one (5yrs) first time in a pod and he loved it!
Great facilities on site. Nice and peaceful. Located in a great spot to explore Dunkeld and surrounding areas.
- Hayden (10/5): - Really nice and clean, lovely check in.
Will definitely go back.
- Kirstie (10/5): Beautiful campsite - Beautiful accommodation, stunning views. The cotttage had everything we needed. Lovely friendly hosts too
- Andrew (10/5): - Great camping pods with clean, modern facilities and at the door parking. Scenic spot in a quiet location, but with easy access to Dunkeld for great food options & shopping.
- Sean (10/5): Brilliant Stay - Brilliant facility and service. Property was well stocked with everything we needed and the furnishing of the property was lovely. Brilliant views and lovely area. Would definitely visit again!
- Thomas (10/5): - Excellent all around.
- Rebecca (10/5): Pods in a beautiful rural area - Beautiful, quiet location. This is not overcrowded, there is plenty of space and the facilities are clean. The site is well thought out. The pods are below a small hill/cragg, with lots of wildlife. Deers can be seen along the ridge line during the evening. Plenty of walks nearby and further a field. Highly recommend.
- Michael (10/5): - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kennacoil.
Accommodation absolutely spotless and very comfortable with everything that you could possibly need. Bottle of wine and milk in the fridge on arrival so thoughtful and very much appreciated! Dog friendly, also perfect base for exploring numerous walks in the area (comprehensive pack with walking suggestions )
Host made us feel very welcome on arrival and easily contactable if needed.
Thank you very much for a very enjoyable stay, we hope to return soon!
- Nick (10/5): - What a wonderful place this is!
Amazing location with the best views we all had a fantastic break away.
Well equipped cottage with absolutely everything you need, clean tidy immaculate!
Gemma was so welcoming and helpful on arrival
Thank you so much 😊
- Jane (4/5): Great site facilitates, pod was far too small! - The general site was great as were the facilities and hosts.
The glamping pod was advertised as being suitable for 4 people. We only managed to use 3 mattresses between us as the pod was absolutely tiny. I’ve stayed in lots of glamping pods before and this did not feel suitable for 4 people. I’d say it is probably fine for a couple or 3 people at an absolute squeeze.
The only way to fit 4 mattresses in the pod would be if you literally had no personal belongings with the exception of the clothes on your back.
We booked 2 nights and decided to leave after one. It would probably be much easier if the weather was good.
- Chris (10/5): Cosy pods, spotless facilities. - Really nice visit and stay. Weather wasn’t the best but we made the most of it with some lovely walks food in Dunkeld. Pods were cosy and very clean. Toilets, showers and kitchen were spotless. Lovely hot showers.
- John Paul (10/5): - Was well hiding but yet so close to the town
- Kristina (10/5): - Cant say enough about this place. What a wonderful evening we shared there. Nothing glamorous. Just a night with 3 of us playing cards and a few beverages. We were traveling Scotland without any pre-booked accommodations when I came across this gem. Owners were promp and professional. Woke up to a beautiful view! Thank you!
- Michaela (2/5): - Was nothing like the picture that was advertised infact couldn’t have been anymore of the opposite! Walked into a shed with what could only be described as a jail mat in it and that was it!
- Irene (6/5): Nice views but very basic. - As I’m new to pod type accommodation. I didn’t realise how basic they were. I appreciated being told we needed linen and towels. But I did expect beds.
Also could you please put on your website that there are no dishes etc.
We brought our own tea coffee breakfast etc but couldn’t eat or drink as there were no plates or cups. I found that very disappointing and must say I would not have booked a pod if I’d known the above.
- Lisa (10/5): - Fantastic pods. Looses of facilities available. Gemma was lovely and amenable.
Many thanks.
- Scott (10/5): Lovely 2 night break - Had a lovely stay in one of the apartment/lodges. Highly recommend and would definitely be back. In the middle of nowhere with lots of lovely walks with the dog. Still a short drive to Dunkeld if you need supplies. Outstanding views and hosts were brilliant, leaving us with well stocked utensils as well as milk, tea and coffee etc - not forgetting the bottle of wine.
- Emma (10/5): - Pod was nice, clean and quiet with beautiful surroundings, host was helpful and communication was easy, lovely toilets and kitchen area, we stayed in November so after the sun went down lighting wasn’t as good as I hoped only for the children getting up and down to the toilets but manageable and safe, we would definitely stay again, thank you 😊 x
- Niamh (10/5): Perfect Glamping spot - What an amazing place, beautiful views (saw some deer on top of the hill), clean with a great ammenity block.
- Campbell (10/5): - Stayed in a six berth pod, well positioned very clean and tidy with excellent amenities. The couple who run the place couldn’t be more friendly or helpful. Toilets showers and utility room were modern and spotless first class value for money
- Stephen (10/5): Fantastic stay. - Absolutely stunning location. Glamping site was immaculate. Facilities were all clean and the host was amazing. Had a great stay and would highly recommend.
- Lilidh (10/5): - This was our second time staying here - both times have been amazing! So close to beautiful walks and the view from the camping pods is absolutely beautiful. Temperature was below freezing one of the nights we were staying but still felt really cosy in the pod!
- Nicole (10/5): - Brilliant host lovely clean and friendly
- Lesley (10/5): Amazing settling - This place is set in the most beautiful place. Everything was extremely clean and the host couldnt of been more helpful. I would definitely go back again
- Maura (10/5): Family Glamping trip - Fantastic communication prior to our stay.
Friendly manager/owner who went out of her way to help with providing wood and stuff for our fire pit.
Lovely stay
- Mandi (10/5): - The owner met us on arrival. The pod was clean and equipped with a heater and lamp. The location was good and the view we woke up to was amazing. Toilets and showers were spotless. The pod had a box outside that contained everything to start the fire in the firepit. Wood available on request. Would definitely come back.
- Edward (10/5): A Great Weekend Getaway - This is a very basic but very good pod. Be aware it has *nothing* in it. But the views, the area and the ambience are fantastic. The owners are kind and attentive and the facilities are nearby and clean, modern and tidy.
- Sam (10/5): - Chill
- Anthony (10/5): - Excellent apartment base for a trip in Scotland. Warm welcome with everything you would need for a stay in the place. Well presented and clean with a nice outside area to sit out in. Highly recommend

We were travelling with our 4 year old kid who only eats home cooked food. The kitchen was fully equipped with full range of utensils and cutleries that we ever needed.
There was this small issue of power outage for couple of hours to which the hosts were quite prompt in following up and restoring. Top notch hospitality, will visit again if we get a chance.
- Annemarie (10/5): - Had a lovely time in Kennacoil. Will defo go back
- Kathryn (10/5): - We got a very warm welcome from Gemma. Our pod was very clean. The utilities room and toilets/showers were very clean also
The site is small but wrll spaced out. Couple of miles away from village of Dunkeld.
Perfect place for a total chillout.
- Greg (10/5): - Kennacoil was a lovely place. We stayed in one of the pet-friendly self-catering apartments. Plenty space, whilst remaining cosy. Decking was great to sit outside on and admire the scenery, whilst our dogs could relax in their beds next to the fire pit.
Beds comfortable and the apartment had everything that we needed.
Will be back at some point to stay in one of the Pods.
