Guest Reviews
- Courtney (8/5): Lovely weekend stay at quaint cottage - Lovely rural and quiet stay at Tracey’s farmhouse. The cottage had everything we needed, the homemade bread, jam and farm eggs were a great added touch on arrival. Great area to stay especially if you have hired a car. Would definitely return! Thank you for a fab stay The cottage would benefit from a deep clean to remove dust and cobwebs from hard to reach areas. Other than that everything was spot on.
- Anna Marie (10/5): - Lovely Accommodation.
Lovely hosts
Nice to get a welcome tray with homemade breads/Butter/Fresh milk/Jam
Parking
Very helpful in recommending a garage when our car broke down
Lovely area. Just a couple of minutes walk down to the lough.
Dog friendly
Spent a lovely couple of hours watching the wildlife
You need a car to get around.
A good location for touring around the lough.
- brian (10/5): Had a great chilled time - Great little cottage & very peaceful Nothing
- Glen (10/5): -
- Gavin (10/5): Really excellent stay, with terrific hosts, and just the kind of relaxation we needed. - Very welcoming hosts who made us feel right at home. An extra special touch on arrival, and even a little parting gift. Really lovely people and I look forward to returning again. Nothing to dislike
- Aleksandar (9/5): Nice cottage with awesome host who welcomed us with home made bread and fireplace burning - Cosy fireplace and home made bread
- Sam (9/5): -
- Murphy (8/5): - The hosts were fantastic and helpful and even provided us with freshly baked homemade bread and jam. The log fire was great and there were plenty of logs provided The only downside is that it is quite secluded which meant driving on the country roads to find somewhere to eat.

- JS (10/5): -
- Claire (10/5): Lovely restorative stop off. - Lovely stay. Home from home after a week on the road. Very relaxing, welcoming and comfortable with some nice touches. Wood burner enjoyed very much. Nothing.
- Peadar (9/5): -
- Alex (9/5): We had a fabulous stay in Tracey’s cottage. It was welcoming, cosy (especially with the fire on) and everything we neede - Oh everything! The log fire, which we used every day. The location. The vibe of the place. The hosts and how quick they were at responding, but the welcome soda bread and extras were a super treat!!!! Never tasted anything so delicious in our lives I didn’t dislike anything. I think my own critique would be some bath sheet towels on offer, as well as the bath towels. Being a fellow giant they’re very much needed!
- Donna (7/5): Clean accommodation that could have been much more comfortable than it was... - It was close to Castle Espie; bed was comfortable; cottage kitchen was reasonably well appointed (except for the very noisy fan oven). Tracey provided fresh bread upon our arrival and departure. It was close to the beautiful Balloo House Restaurant and The Poacher's Pocket Restaurant and Pub, as well as to a well-stocked Spar supermarket. The bedroom had no bedside cabinets, nor any mats for drinks (we had to use several sheets of kitchen roll to place our drinks on the TINY single shelf by each side of the bed). There was no real storage for clothes (other than the small closet); essentially we had to live out of our suitcases for our four-day stay. The bathroom floor was freezing cold (even when the heating was on); there were no mats/rugs to stand on whilst getting dressed.
- Jenny (8/5): Beautiful location, cosy and rustic property. - The cottage was rustic and cosy, lovely log burner. Due to age of building/stone floors, the wet room shower was a little cold. It would benefit from a towel rail/somewhere to dry towels. A few more mugs/glasses in the kitchen would also be helpful.
- Lynne (9/5): Perfect location on the shore of beautiful strangford Lough - Fantastic location and welcome pack The bathroom was hard to air out and the towels became fusty if store wet in the shower room. Excellent shower however.
- Anne (8/5): Loved our stay, would book again. - It was in a lovely location. The host was very friendly, allowed us into the property before checking in time and greeted us upon arrival. He was at hand if we wanted anything. Lovely house inside and had a lovely welcome tray upon arrival, handmade soda bread, jam. Also fresh eggs, milk and butter, a lovely gesture. We had everything we needed. I can’t think of anything that we didn’t like. Just being ‘picky’ but just maybe more mugs and glasses.
- Greg (10/5): Fantastic farmhouse stay - We absolutely loved our stay at Tracey’s Farmhouse. The location was idyllic, with lots of lovely places to explore around the lough. The accommodation itself was superb – well equipped, cosy, and full of rustic charm.
Tracey and Joe were fantastic hosts, welcoming us warmly and even treating us to fresh bread and eggs. A real highlight for both children and adults was being able to spend time with the farm animals – such a special experience that made our stay truly memorable.
We only wish we could have stayed longer!
- Kim (10/5): Stunning picturesque home - The cottage is absolutely cozy and homely modern cottage comfort at its finest. The hosts went above and beyond for us never had such a welcoming atmosphere from strangers so warm welcoming and accomaditng in helping us with all our plans. Absolutely nothing
- Tony (10/5): Lovely Cottage - Great location - very quiet spot by Strangford Lough. Lovely cottage, well stocked kitchen, loads of space for the 3 of us and our dog. Nice outdoor patio area. 2 mins walk to the Lough. Would definitely go back - so relaxing. Recommend a trip to Daft Eddie's restaurant nearby.
- Andre (9/5): - Beautiful location, lovely welcome! Second time staying.
- Alex (10/5): Gorgeous. I would book again. - Everything was made so easy for us: the hosts couldn’t have been kinder. We found everything in order and the place is stunning.
- John (7/5): Good -
- Jeff (10/5): Exceptional -
- Toms (9/5): Superb - Beautiful, quiet location and the hosts couldn't be more helpful with recommendations and letting us meet and feed their pigs, goats sheep etc. The kids in particular loved it. Could do with a bigger sofa for 4 guests and a bit more in the way of clothes storage so you don't end up living out of bags like we did.
- Alison (10/5): Exceptional -
- Toby (8/5): Very good - Great location close to the Loch and many of our Irish relatives.
The hosts were very helpful and ensured we had a great stay.
Very good value for money.
- Ashley (9/5): Great place, beautiful location, friendly, helpful people. - It was very cosy, had everything you could need for a stay, even an ironing board, plus there were some food treats on arrival.
We're very helpfull when we realised mum had left her phone as we were getting on the boat. I wish we could have stayed longer
- David (10/5): Excellent base for our trip would stay again in a heartbeat - Location is Fantastic , Hosts were very friendly , Homemade Bread and fresh eggs there for us on arrival were a lovely touch , nice secure parking beside the cottage , convenient access to the lough for the sailing event, Shower in the cottage was exceptional nothing , cottage was perfect
- Jodie (10/5): Exceptional - A beautiful location. Lovely hosts who provided us with fresh bread, eggs, butter and jam when we arrived.
- Ciara (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage is cosy and has everything needed to stay. Would definitely stay again.
- Charles (10/5): Exceptional - I couldn't recommend it enough.
Superb None
- Roxanne (10/5): Brilliant!! - It was a lovely cottage. It was the perfect spot for us for two nights. The hosts were great and welcoming. We loved the fresh homemade bread. I would definitely book here again. Thank you
- Lambert (10/5): Cosy and quiet place in the farm. - Really cosy cottage.
Superbe décoration et très bien équipé.
Clean and quiet.
Très gentille propriétaire.
The welcome bread and eggs from the farm are delicious.
Perfect place. Nothing, everything is perfect.
- Aston (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful cosy cottage next to the Loch. Nicely decorated with christmas lights. Ideal space for 2 parents and 2 kids. It had a some fresh biscuits, butter, jam and milk waiting for us on arrival (even had a top up of wonderful bread on day 2!!!). The fire had been readied for us as we were getting in at an unsociable hour in the middle of winter.
Wonderful stay and will be staying here again.
- Craig (10/5): Excellent stay and would book again if staying in the area. - Cosy cottage, with all the facilities you could ask for. Recommend to anyone needing to stay in the area.
- Josh (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely stunning little cottage, very welcoming and cozy, full of old world charm but with all mod cons, and the hosts were lovely to, would definitely recommend to anyone and we will be returning
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Isabel (9/5): Great hospitality and very helpful. Lovely home baked soda bread. Highly recommended -
- Sinead (9/5): Superb - Very clean and cosy. Joe was great and easy to contact.
- Ian (10/5): Beautiful cottage in a perfect location - Perfect little place to stay
- Vijay (8/5): The stay was good but could have been exceptional if we had hot water - The facility was exceptional and enjoyed The only issue we had was lack of hot water on both days and had to forego bath
- Jane (9/5): So much to see and do in the area. We will definitely return at some point for more adventures! - Location, tray of homemade treats, fact that it was dog friendly, cottage was beautiful and cozy. It shows on the booking that dog kennels are available on sight but this isn't the case anymore. Our dogs were allowed in horseshoe cottage but not the bedrooms which was absolutely fine. Just incase future guests think that there are kennels available.
- Mathew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yvonne (10/5): Exceptional - Quaint little cottage, will all amenities necessary for your stay.
The jam butter and fruit loaf was a love added treat on arrival.
- Steve (10/5): Love love love - Met by the owner, showed around, spoilt by the soda farls, eggs, butter and amazing raspberry jam. I liked everything.
- Pawel (10/5): Exceptional - Silent area ,lovely cottage, friendly owners,
- Michael (10/5): Very enjoyable - Very clean, lovely homemade bread jam, very homely Nothing
- Niall (9/5): Lovely -
- Shane (6/5): Pleasant - Lovely location and very clean.
Bread and jams were a lovley touchand hosts were very nice. Bathroom wetfloor a disaster as whole bathroom floor gets wet and when 4 people take shower . It takes ages for it to dry and you can smell the dampness from the floor being wet as it didnt dry out . Even when we arrived every window was open and you could smell the dampness from the bathroom.
The only way is to leave door open and windows open. Could do with a little upstand and simple shower door to.solve .
Also for four people could do with a couple of more comfy seats as the couch only fits 2.
- Angie (10/5): Wonderful, and the homemade goodies were great! - The location was beautiful and quiet, easy short drive to the local pub
- Minihane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tanya (10/5): A lovely cottage, lovely people who made a trip to visit university a lovely break away from home - The cottage was so welcoming and cosy. The owners had ensured we had wood and turf for the fire, soda bread, fruit loaf, milk and jam for when we arrived and the finishing touches to the cottage were lovely. Nothing at all!
- Vyona (8/5): Very good - The location
The friendly welcome
The peace + quiet
- Francisca (10/5): Exceptional - I loved the silence around the house and the atmosphere of the house.
- Jo (9/5): Very cosy, well-equipped cottage in beautiful location - Really pretty cottage with all the facilities you need. Well-equipped and very cosy. Lovely planners who were more than helpful. Nothing
- Jane (8/5): Nice hosts, - Nice hosts. Lovely location near a tidal lough. Spacious. Great wood fire. Can take dogs. Woodfired pizza free gratis delivered by host first night. Lovely wood fire, logs etc provided. Little milk, fresh eggs, little jam, little butter, few slices of fruited bread provided in cottage to get you started. Water pressure good. Dishwasher. Not far for facilities. No freezer compartment in fridge, limits food choices, no shaver socket in shower room, lack of cleanliness of filter in shower which flooded shower room first use, extractor faulty and very noisy (host aware - awaiting repair), being woken very early by scratching/nibbling rat inside wall of twin bedroom (difficult one as rural location and rat bait boxes were seen, weather changed while there). No washing or drying facilities that we were made aware of whilst there. Cottage parking space outside cottage being taken by visitors there for a course. Unable to park close by cottage and offload dogs, our bags, heavy akward dog crates, in pouring rain after a full day out. Having impatient person interuppting us to move our vehicle quickly, so they could get out of drive as their course finished! Perhaps the boat could be moved off hosts drive, free up an extra parking space? If have guests at self catering cottage, ensure their allocated parking right outside the cottage is kept free.
- Cori (8/5): Nice. Quaint. Aesthetically pleasing. Hosts very nice with welcoming tray of delicious bread and jam. - Countryside but close to nice village. Wood stove. Shower room cold. Water not hot and just warm, which didn’t last long. Construction materials outside door made for tight parking.
- Kłosowska (10/5): Exceptional - Delicious treat, homemade bread, eggs, jam and butter ❤️ beautiful surroundings, cozy country house and friendly owners. Perfect place ❤️
- Dawn (7/5): Great location for exploring - Fabulous location, just a few metres from Strangford Lough. The double bed was very comfortable. Great base for exploring. Very quiet. A little courtyard for sitting outside. Fridge, oven, hob, microwave, toaster. The complimentary cake, bread and eggs were very nice. The single beds were not very comfortable for adults. The shower room gets very wet (towards the basin and toilet). The fan in the bathroom needs looking at (very loud). A few little things to finish off (extractor in kitchen-wires hanging out of wall.) A night light would be handy (for trips to bathroom in the night). Mirrors in each bedroom would be useful. Electric point either side of master bedroom would be useful too.
- Damien (10/5): Exceptional - We loved the location. Right beside the lough but only a half hour drive to Belfast. Fresh baked bread left for us on arrival was a nice touch. Owners were very welcoming. Brilliant digs. Nothing anyone can do about the weather. We loved the accommodation. We wanted something rural and that's what we got.
- Nigel (9/5): Excellent stay. Will be back again. - Lovely private cottage next to quiet seaside lane. Friendly hosts. Parking available. Very quiet area. Remote location. Car required to access amenities. Ten minute drive to some local bars and restaurants.
- Ibrahim (5/5): Passable - The staff of this facility were so alert, ready at your service at all times. The location of the facility is too far, is too remote & not accessible to the grocery shops where you can get stuff, is too far from the city, almost 50minutes drive from the Airport that's too far from my liking. The facility owner should have a proper arrangement for the customer on transportation to access the town or Airport so as to woe customers to his facility.
- Milanovic (9/5): Great cottage in a rural corner of N Ireland with brilliant hosts and plenty of space for a family. - Hosts were super easy to communicate with. They prepared everything for our arrival, including some home made bread, eggs and jelly. There was no fuss. When we asked to buy some more bread (because it was so delicious), they ended up dropping what they were doing to make some for us, and gave it to us for free. Still a little embarrassed that someone would do that for us. One of the kids beds was rather squeaky hahaha so they kept on waking up whenever he'd turn over. Bolts just need tightening.
- Bobbie-lee (8/5): Very good - Fresh baked bread and jam were a lovely plus
- Nolan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carole (10/5): Beautiful - We were welcomed with delicious homemade soda bread .
- Matus (9/5): We did enjoy location of cottage it's almost at a sea level. Hosts were nice and helpful - Fireplace, kitchen , location Weather was awful during our stay
- Willem (9/5): Nice stay, close to Belfast. - Nice little house. We loved it. Fresh baked bread was fabulous. Needed more fire wood. Actually everything was fine.
- Shaun (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephanie (9/5): Beautiful peaceful cosy cottage - Tracey and Joe are very welcoming. We arrived in the evening, the stove was lit and lights lights were on. We really enjoyed the complementary food pack containing fresh eggs, butter, jam and bread. The accommodation is very charming, nicely decorated, kitchen very well equipped, comfortable, peaceful location and a 30min drive to Belfast. I would highly recommend! Be aware of the remote location and small roads if driving at night.
The italian open shower style is very good but tiles get soaked in the sink area.
- Catherine (1/5): Bad -
- Immanuel (9/5): Superb - Lovely place I'd book again, really nice people we got some fresh eggs and freshly made soda bread send over plus the log burner was lit before we arrived with plenty for us to burn along side The only thing was some high up hoovering needed, with some old spiders webs and dust maybe a better hoover round the skirting boards that would be it other than that a lovely place
- Emily (10/5): Exceptional -
- Johanna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lindsay (6/5): Bring slippers for the flagstone floors and firelighters! - Location is so lovely. 2 minutes walk to the shoreline of Strangford Lough.
We were welcomed on arrival with delicious home baked wheaten bread and jam.
The log burner was lit and extra logs left at the front door. There are no heating controls within the cottage and the heating did not come on at all on our first evening and morning, so we weren't warm enough until this was sorted on our second evening. The log burner is nice but it is insufficient to heat the whole property on its own.
We could not access the designated parking space on our return on our second evening because of an event at the host's other premises across the courtyard. We had to park our hire car in a lay-by on the country road nearly 10 minutes walk away in pitch darkness, then retrieve it 2 hours later when the driveway and the cottage parking space were freed up. We would have appreciated being told in advance or the access for us as paying guests too being safeguarded.
- Mairi (9/5): Superb - Cozy accommodation, welcome treats, wood-burning stove, beautiful surroundings
- Shiela (10/5): Exceptional - Never been to Northern Ireland before; this cottage's location meant that wr had the opportunity to see some countryside. Joe and Tracy made pizzas for uson Sunday and they were delicious, also the lovely scones too. Recommend Horseshoe Cottage. Nothing.
- Zara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leona (8/5): Very good -
- Anthony (8/5): Very good -
- Hilary (8/5): Absolutely lovely stay superb hosts and a delightful cottage in a lovely location - I liked the location and the hosts were lovely and hospitable, its only a half hour from Belfast The duvet was a little too light as the weather changed so we could have done with some extra blankets
- Irina (9/5): Superb -
- Tara (8/5): Fab little cottage close to Belfast. - Lovely little cottage right on the lough. beautiful
scenic location. The owners were lovely to deal
with, never in your face but always around if
needed. lovely welcome tray on our arrival which
was much appreciated as we were starving after
travelling!
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Stephanie (8/5): A warm welcome in comfortable and well-equipped accommodation in a beautiful setting. - The welcome we received from Tracey and her family was outstanding. We were given a complementary food pack containing fresh eggs, butter, jam and bread, which was wonderful and greatly appreciated! The accommodation was very comfortable, with everything you could need, and the location was beautiful. We had a really lovely stay. Since you ask - it was not something we would otherwise have complained about at all! The beds were not the best we have slept on, which was a shame as otherwise the accommodation and our stay was exceptional. It did not stop us having reasonable sleep and enjoying our stay, but it was the one thing about the accommodation that was slightly disappointing.
- Remona (7/5): Good -
