Guest Reviews
- Robert (8/5): Acceptable - Great staff, breakfast, very clean Near highway and gas station
Very basic for price
- Paolo (9/5): -

- miky b. (8/5): - Friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast (onsite and early morning takeaway to calakmul). Fast internet.
Despite not far from the main road, quiet place. Room a bit small for a family of 4.
Super freundlich!! Und das Frühstück war klasse! Einziger Makel war die Dusche im Bad. Da sollte was dran gemacht werden.
- De Marzi (9/5): - Location piacevole in mezzo alla natura. Personale molto gentile. Camere molto spaziose e colazione super!
No había agua caliente.
- Sonja (5/5): -
- philippe (10/5): Très bien - Tout Rien
- Sandro (10/5): - Jorge was an amazing host! We also booked the tour to Calakmul with him. Very professional, but also extremely nice and open to share from his culture.
Great experience! Would definitely have stayed longer if time allowed.
- Francesca (7/5): -
- Alessio (10/5): - Clean place and good welcome.
Good position in xpujil to visita calakmul.
- Joachim (8/5): -
- FLORENCE (9/5): -
- Bleukx (8/5): Basic lodge with great staff - The staff was extremely friendly, the room was clean and 2 cold beer in the fridge!! The bathroom was a bit basic. We thought it was close to the Maya temples of Calamul but it was still 120 km driving.
- PAOLA (10/5): Lovely cottage, delicious breakfast! You’ll feel right at home. - The host was so kind and was waiting for us to arrive in the evening.
The cottage is spacious and modern, with comfortable beds.
The breakfast was served to us in our private terrace and was delicious.
We highly recommend this property!
Thank you and we hope to be back.
- Gerben1986 (8/5): - Mooie huisjes in de jungle. Uitstekend ontbijt! Hele lieve eigenaren. Wel wat afgelegen van het dorp.
- Lars (10/5): Fantastic stay close to Calakmul! - Family owned place in the middle of the jungle.
We were taken care in an excellent way, the owner and his wife were very nice, everything was very well thought through, the breakfast was excellent.
The owner also arranged a tour to Calakmul, which was excellent. And also he drove us to Bacalar in the evening. Really nice!
- Stéphane (8/5): Nice stop to get a good night of sleep (the beds are amazing) before attacking Calakmul site. The price is a bit high fo - The patio, the fridge, the AC and the beds The shower (no hot water and a few drops rather than a stream), the value
- Petra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Davis (9/5): Friendly, Great Value, Good location. - The owner is very friendly, kind and accommodating. We had a very late check-in, and they were super cool about it. They even brought us a wonderful breakfast to our room in the morning with an amazing smile. The screened patio is a really nice touch. The bed wasn’t the comfiest, but I still slept well. Really close to over a half dozen local ruins/archaeological zones. Overall would certainly stay here again. :)
- Fabio (9/5): Host helped me organizing the visit to Calakmul ruins with a personal tour guide - Quite place, space to relax. Great host. Breakfast at the door.
- Amy (10/5): Recommended for a peaceful, welcoming, and comfortable stay. - The cabin has s peaceful and quiet, very clean and comfortable. I love the screened porch. The couple who run/own the property are welcoming, helpful, and kind. The included breakfast was great! It’s a bit out of town, would need to take a taxi for any services.
- Iztok (9/5): Superb - No surprises. Very friendly staff. Noisy road
- Stine (9/5): Lovely place! - Great set off for tours to Calakmul. Owner and family were nice and nice breakfast is served in the room when you want it. Being bug repellent- there are a lot of mosquitoes.
- Beatrice (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marco (9/5): Nice overnight stay - Friendly People, clean nice room. Perfect for our overnight stay, travelling from Campeche, Calakmul to Baccalar.
- Iris (8/5): excellent host at Ecohabitat - Very good host. he arranged a guide for us to visit Calakmul and prepared a large takeway breakfast.
good shower and beds, big refrigerator WiFi could be better in the room, but that's a minor detail. it was OK on the porch
- Rob (9/5): Here we could recover from an intense day at Calakmul ruins. - Excellent Mexican breakfast!
Everything was good. There was a Nice front room with fridge. Inside a decentraal room with 2 double beds. No comments
- Ferdinand (8/5): Very good - Nice breakfast
Extra clean
Nice host No nice view
- Marine (8/5): Very nice ! - The ambiance outside and the 'terrace' :)
The host was also very friendly: he first warned us about the closing of Calakmul on the date we planned to go and could modify our reservation accordingly. We also arrived really late and had to leave at 4 am the next morning; they prepared us a breakfast at 11 pm so we could take it with us in the morning to go and visit Calakmul !
- Jakob (9/5): Perfect for exploring Calakmul early morning - Really liked the super friendly people there. It's family run and even though English is difficult, they have a really helpful son who speaks perfect English. They prepared early morning breakfast that we could bring for Calakmul (really tasteful). There was a lot of construction work (and noise) going on at the main road with the new railway being built.
- Pascal (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (9/5): Superb - We stopped here to break the journey between Bacalar and Palenque. The place is in the middle of nowhere but we got a good night's sleep. There are one or maybe two of these cabins. They are a long way back from the road so you cannot hear the railway construction traffic. Breakfast was lovely as were the staff. Plenty of water, both hot and cold and the Aircon was needed for us. Adjacent to the property on the main road is a petrol station and there is a cafe there, Gouter Cafe that serves excellent food so there is no need to go into town to eat. The price is way above other places if better standing elsewhere in Mexico but when you are in the middle of nowhere and you need to stop ... Very pricy
- Chynna (10/5): Genuine Rural Jungle Experience! - We had such a great stay at Ecohabitat in Xpujil! Our favourite stop yet on our Mexican road trip. Breakfast was awesome and is included! We got the choice of quesadilla or eggs and everything comes with fruit and toast and coffee or tea. Always served on time and delicious. Room was very clean and tidy and staff were friendly and helpful. Big shoutout to Jorge who was our lovely receptionist, maintenance man, cleaner, and server. He was kind enough to unlock our room at 9:30pm after I accidentally locked us out. Hotel is along a major trucking route, but the hotel makes this very clear and it wasn’t a surprise. Pretty much everywhere along this route has been affected by the Tren Maya construction. Noise was covered up by A/C which was awesome. Private parking is a great bonus. Such a cute place and great access to Calakmul. We also loved the covered patio and spent evening out there listening to the crickets. The shower is a bit rough, as the water pressure is low and there is only one temperature (lukewarm). However, this is what we expected in the middle of rural Campeche and was not an issue for us as we are used to camp showers. Wifi is slightly spotty, but again, given the rural locale this is to be expected.
- Elisa (7/5): Good -
- Bonnie (8/5): Great place to stay - Very friendly hosts
Delicious breakfast
Great dinner recommendation
Beautiful location in the jungle with trails on property Bed could be more comfortable
- Snogueira (8/5): Very good - If you want to visit Calakmul, this is a very affordable, clean and comfortable place to use as a base to visit the Maya ruins in the area. The only downside is the location by the main road where all traffic passes by, but all the rest compensates this.
- Benjamin (8/5): Very good - Clean accomodation, friendly staff. As per advertising. The bungalows are very distanced from each other so you have a nice environment of your own in the nature Nothing fancy, but all decent and as per advertising so no complaints
- Sofie (8/5): Very good - Very nice and complete breakfast, also good lunch for visiting Calakmul was available.
Great patio!
Very nice people who built an lodge next to their home and took great care of it. On a busy road which did not bother us but if you are a bad sleeper, you hear everything.
- Anne (8/5): Very good - Very cute little cabin, lovely staff, great breakfast. Rooms are not very big (but doable). If you don't speak spanish, you might have a challenge in communication with staff.
- Ewa (9/5): Excellent experience - Amiable and kind owner; great price and clean yet rustical hut
Delicious breakfast and take away lunch boxes
- Caroline (8/5): Very good - Facilities were very nice, AC, fridge, coffee machine, attached bathroom. Staff was really nice, they kept my backpack while I was visiting calakmul. They helped me to find the bus/collectivo timetables to go to bacalar and dropped me by car at the ADO terminal. Breakfast was really good and delivered in the room at the time I asked. The bed was very confortable! It's not ecohabitat's fault, just the current context :
The construction works very noisy late the night, it must be really hard for the xpujil habitants. I guess I would really have had the impression to be in the middle of the jungle without them.
It was a bit dangerous to walk from ADO terminal to ecohabitat at night with the huge construction trucks on the road (driving and parking)
- Paul (7/5): Good -
- Michelr88 (1/5): Bad -
- Fiona (9/5): Clean, friendly and comfortable - Lovely owners who were very welcoming and helpful, letting us take a shower when we returned after an early morning trip to Calakmul. Room was basic but spotless with great air con and comfy beds, a fridge and a coffee machine in a screened terrace.
- Emanuele (6/5): Good host. Room needs updating. - Terrace Needs updating. Mattress very uncomfortable.
- Angela (8/5): Very good - Tucked away from the bustle of the main road very comfortable and good for access to Calakmul
Don’t be out off by the busy road accommodation is around the back and quiet would recommend
- Mohamadreza (1/5): Bad - This is in middle of no where and we decided not to stay although we paid the money.
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional -
- Silvia (8/5): Very good -
- Alma_linda (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice & helpful staff. Clean and well-equiped house. Would recommend a stay any time again Suggestion for the room equipment: a small water kettle (next to the coffee machine) & larger cups (mugs) :-)
- Julie (10/5): Ecohabitat Stay - I liked everything and have no complaints. The breakfast was amazing, and everyone was incredibly nice. The room had a/c, comfortable and clean beds, and a little screened in porch for our individual place. It was lovely, and I would stay there again. I didn't like the construction trucks driving by all night long, but we were far back enough that it wasn't too bothersome, and that's not the fault of the owners, so I can't fault them for that.
- Matteo (7/5): Good - This mini villas are really nice and brand new, clean and spacious
Breakfast is good
staff is really helpful and speak very good english At the time of our stay (aug23) there were HUGE works close to the villas (for the Maya Ferry) and HUGE tracks working all night long and all day long: check if the works are still on-going before booking otherwise it will be really difficult to sleep or have a good experience. This really impact this review, otherwise it could be an 8, but we really payed too much considering all this minus
Bathroom in the villas are strange and not comfortable, just because the shower is between the WC and the washbowl..
The villas are really close to the street, so it seems not to be so ECO...
Its not close to CALAKMUL (2hour drive)
- Rene (7/5): Good -
- Erica (9/5): Lovely place, run by family. Comfortable stay. - This place is run by son and his parents. They have limited rooms but those rooms are very comfortable. The cabin is far away from road so no longer have issue with noise of trucks. Internet didn't work in cabin. If fixed would make a huge difference.
- Mohammed (9/5): Superb -
- Klementina (10/5): A wonderful cabin in the jungle - a real nice cabin in nature, nice property to walk around and we saw many birds, very clean, and the hosts were very kind and welcoming. we enjoyed a lot the protected patio lots of trucks stop on the road in front which can be noisy at times
- Jayne (10/5): Exceptional - Stayed here on our way to Calakmul. Lovely, friendly people! Great place to stay, our cabin was super clean and cosy. Had really early and delicious breakfast with nice background music and a fab chat with Jorge. Vegetarian pack lunch to take with with us which was brilliant. Thanks Jorge and Elizabeth.
- T-man (5/5): Very noisy - Even though the room was far away from the main road; nevertheless, you could hear all of the traffic
- Jsbuck1 (10/5): We spent two nights to visit Calakmul. The perfect place. - Breakfast was delicious. The room was away from the highway. It was not noisy during sleeping hours. Perfect stop for Calakmul. The couple running the place were beyond great. Finding out it was my wife's birthday, they came down with flowers and guitar and sang the Mexican Happy Birthday Song. We were deeply moved. Nothing not to like
- Anne (10/5): Exceptional - The best place I've stayed during my travel through Mexico! You stay at the land where the owners also live. This family are the friendliest people who will make sure you enjoy your stay. Even though last minute, they arranged a tour for me to Calakmul and they also took me on a fantastic and adventurous hike. Breakfast is amazing and in the afternoon / evening you can order some wine and snacks (guacamole, quesadillas) which are all delicious, and for me it was enough for dinner. They have a short walk on the grounds as well where you can see a lot of birds. The cottage where you stay is spacious and comfortable, including airco, hot shower and a fridge. The place is slightly out of town so tranquile setting, but only a 2-minute ride if you do need something. The only thing that I missed was being able to tap filtered water somewhere. They do provide a bottle of water each day but given the heat you definitely need more than that.
- Thijs (8/5): Very good -
- Mylene (9/5): Superb - It is a beautiful area, close to town and at the same time close to nature. There are small cabanas very distanced from one another so very comfy. There is a small walk around the property in the wood. Recommend !
- Patrycja (10/5): great family run hotel, good point for trip to calakmul ruins - delicious breakfast
close to the nature
walking distance to town centre
comfortable and clean room
- Sarwat (10/5): Great base for exploring Calakmul - Really accommodating with us arriving late, arranging trips and an early morning departure. Couldn't have been nicer.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean and cozy acommodation, great breakfast and lunch box for our day trip!
- Christophe (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Nadia (9/5): Superb - The cabins are very clean and brand new, the bed is very comfortable, mosquito net for outdoor terrasse and the bed is provided
The couple who manages the place is very lovely and helpful It is a bit close to a noisy street
- Asael (8/5): - Muy bien
