- Aidan (9/5): A wonderful and pleasant stay -
- Margaret (9/5): - We loved t room, and how centra it is to t town. The food was very good & staff were exceptionally helpful in every way. House keeping manager Joanne was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble for her. No northern stations on TV,,but we will b back.
- Hayes (7/5): Very poor that I was not offered a room change - Location The first night the music and loud noise from people screaming and bad singing went on till we'll after midnight,,when I asked for a room change I was told all the rooms will be the same and there are ear plugs in the bedside cabinet,,the second night there was a teen party 2.20 am when the noise stopped...3rd night well after midnight again
- Paul (5/5): Not to a 4* standard - The hotel is in decent location. The Receptionist was pleasant and helpful. We requested a quiet room but we were given a low level front room towards the high street. Thankfully it was mid-week and therefore the noise from the various nearby bars was not too bad.
Breakfast was a plated-up version expected in a B&B not a hotel that claims to be 4*. However, the saving grace was that the food was of a decent quality.

- Paul (8/5): Great Little Hotel - Central Nothing
- Aleksandra (5/5): Room to improve - Staff at reception, bar, accommodation very nice. Amazing welcome. Reception looks very modern. Rooms are just ok. Need a lot of renovations. Nice location, easy parking. Unfortunately the room needs to be updated 😕
Breakfast wasnt good at all. We waited 1h for our breakfast and it wasn't even what it said on the menu. Staff at breakfast need training. And continental breakfast very poor.
- 687jjh (2/5): Avoid avoid avoid - 1.
Accessible room was assigned without being requested or mentioned at check-in. The main issue was the shower, which flooded into the bedroom even though the shower curtain was fully drawn, creating an obvious trip and slip hazard. What was most disappointing was the hotel’s response, which appeared to blame the guest by suggesting the shower head was pointed away from the drain rather than accepting any responsibility. Greater checks, maintenance, and accountability are clearly needed instead of shifting blame onto guests for what is ultimately a hotel safety issue.

- X1705XJronh (4/5): Far too noisy and no help from staff - We arrived on the Thursday..our room was 209...the night the party music and loud dj on a mic went on till 12.20
Our room was right above the function room and outside area. The next morning I asked for a room swop and was told "the noise is the same in all the rooms if it's not coming from inside it the bars around us"
Friday night was "teenage party night"
The girls screaming, boys chanting and singing, and loud music, the people noise went on till 2.40 am
I Complained again and was told "oh we are very sorry for that"
Saturday...and the music and people noise went ontill 12 40
The next morning told the same thing but it should not be as bad tonight
Sunday night the noise stopped just after midnight
All in all a very disappointing stay
We will not be recommending or staying at the Imperial again
I've payed a lot less in Benidorm and had a quieter stay, how it's got 4 stars is beyond me
Bathroom in need of some work (photos attached)
- Saoirse O'Sullivan (9/5): - Lovely room, especially liked the mini fridge. Just a bit pricey
- Y9012NAtinac (10/5): Fab stay - We had a fab stay, gorgeous room, spacious and very clean. Decor was beautiful, very comfy bed. Staff friendly and professional. A really lovely night away.
- Griffin (8/5): Johns review - The reception were very friendly and the service was very good one problem with the breakfast not being able to pick from different options was a problem but it was a substantial breakfast
- robertmP1667NU (10/5): "Let's just say we'd like to avoid any Imperial entanglements." — Obi-Wan Kenobi - Brilliant, even the erratic lift was fun (watch the button, it goes off and the lift bypasses you. We used to do that to a lift in college, flick the power switch and it would skip a floor!). But it does tell you when someone is actually in it, which would be good in those movies where the armed police wait for the lift! You need your room key to tap when selecting the floor.
Anyway, one of the things that sets this place apart is the communication from the email addresses, always accurate, always well-humoured and helpful.
BOOK DIRECT! When you google the Imperial Hotel, two seemingly identical entries come up. Make sure you choose the one on the right that shows under the google map entry. Otherwise, you will be paying some other website €65 extra for the same thing. When we were booking on the mobilephone, the other site was more prominent.
The free parking is a relief, and either around the back of the hotel at "The Venue" or a public car park across the road. When you arrive at reception you use a touch screen to enter your car details. The reception staff were lovely too.
I did get a lot of emails about checking in oline, any special requirements, seemed excessive, but not too inconvenient. Picture ID is required on checkin.
Everything is within walking distance and on Easter Sunday, a very pleasant security guard manned the entrance and was helpful on our inebriated late night return.
Our room was on the fourth floor. 403 and 404 overlooked the main street outside and in the bedside locker, ear plugs were provided. I usually have my own anyway! But the noise at 2 am was just the lovely low rumble of people coming and going. We felt safe at all times on the streets.
The room was lovely, not huge, but perfect. The TV was easy to use, it worked and it has the Irish stations: RTE1&2 RTE News too, Virgin1,2,3 and TG4.
The light for the loo and the hall light is at the door, but the other light switches are the other side of the door. No aircon, but vents on the windows, side windows open. Kettle and Nespresso type machine. Iron, hair dryer but it was the bathroom mirror with its magnified rearside that had the wife going! Decent toilet. Shower has a removable hand head as well as the big head (turn the left hand forward or back to turn on the water and select the head for the water to come out. Shower is in a bath. But it is all well finished and well lit.
My wife was worried about the fire door to the lifts being outside our room, but we never heard it.
We ate in the bar. Main courses ranged €16 to €19, mainly pizzas. They had a good Irish Tapas menu: three small dishes for €15, enough food for a decent fill. The wife was not mad on the spicy chips and the batter was spicy too, which she was not mad on, but I thought it was fine. I had the roast lamb, mash, roast potato and a bowl of traditional mixed veg. Just what you want for Sunday lunch on Easter Sunday. Not had proper mint sauce for years.
Breakfast was recommended to us and did not disappoint. Massive hangover in hand, I did think I should go full Irish, but the temptation of the sourdough toast with smashed avocado did not disappoint. A huge portion, two eggs (benedict sauce on the side was mild, tasty and heated slightly). Wife had the omelettes, but her hangover could not handle it and she felt there was a bit much pepper. Fruit salad was gorgeous, she had a glass of grapes, lovely. Toast was two types of sliced bread and one of those continuous toasters, but was perfect. Butter was behind me. oops. The toaster had a large sign.... don't even think of doing the brown bread or croissant in it! Staff so helpful, there was no need to worry about anything. We even took the omlette away for today's breakfast!
For me it was excellent value for money, but another couple at the event we went to seemed to have paid eighty euro more, so I thought maybe it was the other site, but my wife heard the reception quoting higher prices. As I said, I felt the price was right for what we go. Breakfast was €12 a head, now maybe Dundalk is different to Dublin, but you would not get so much for twelve euro. Coffee was good too. T pot filed the nationwide search for non spilling pot!!!.
Breakfast is until 11 and that was the checkout time, we were moving slowly (I blame the Gakk and Toales), so the phone rang at about 1125, with a very cheery lady telling us we were due out a few minutes ago. Housekeeping on the landing accepted our apology, again proving that people make the place.
Special Shoutout to Sinead in the tourise office and Denis in the Panama Cafe next door for their help in guiding us around the town!
- X3202UCtonym (10/5): Enjoyable, friendly and relaxing - Perfect location, staff were warm, friendly and welcoming from the Girl on reception to the lads in the bar. The room was lovely and spotlessly clean. Service was excellent. A great location as i was meeting partners family for the first time and all local pubs within easy walking distance,
I definitely will be staying there again on a regular basis and hopefully this weekend,
I would and will be recommending there to stay,
Many thanks for an enjoyable stay
Hopefully back again this weekend,
Kind Regards,
Anthony Maher
- C7021NFamandaj (10/5): My first choice accessible hotel always - I bring my sister to this hotel every few months. She has both complex physical and mental health needs. I always get an accessible room, who questions every asked for the reason.
Great big wet room so makes it easier to help her have a shower.
Staff ALWAYS uber helpful from reception staff to catering team
We tend to sit in bar area at night with her colouring book or crafting and nothing is said. Staff and customers engage with her. Pots of tea and whatever is requested is no bother.
There is an accessible wheelchair ramp which we use several times a day as she doesn't have much energy. We go have a mini shop or cuppa and come back for a power nap and repeat and Staff help us in and out via wheelchair access.
I genuinely never look for anywhere else and great range of shops for her in the town and Staff in shops also so friendly.
Great having free carpark to rear of hotel.
Brilliant food too.
We will be back soon for several more stays during 2026

- E7022TUaidanb (8/5): Noisy hotel - This hotel is.ok. Great food, and restaurant is ok. The men’s toilets in the bar area were to say the least shocking. All the urinals covered in plastic bags. Only two cubicles available which were so dirty you would need wellington boots. The bedroom we had was very noisy. Would you believe they even provide ears plugs in your room! So the hotel knows it’s noisy. Would I come again, probably, in the hope things may have improved.
- Colette Grant (9/5): Good - Everything good as was food
- Darren (10/5): -
- Dylan (10/5): -
- 269nickyw (10/5): Would stay again - Lovely hotel in Central location
Lots of parking available for guests.
Was noise from singer downstairs in bar but ear plugs provided. (Although not required for us).
Room and bathroom clean.
Loved the shelf in shower for products.
But no body lotion provided.
Breakfast was very nice. Little hiccup with the service - there was 2 of us and only one plate set down with food. It was rectified quickly.

- johnnywaldorf (10/5): Enjoy the craic in this lovely hotel in Dundalk - My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Imperial Hotel at the weekend. A perfect base for a family wedding over in Castlebellingham. The room was spotlessly clean and well appointed. All the staff were friendly and helpful, the atmosphere at breakfast and in the bar at night was very welcoming. Despite the live music at an event in the hotel on the Saturday the disturbance from the noise was minimal. The breakfast was excellent quality and great value for money. We both opted for the 'small' Full Irish Breakfast and it was more than enough! We will definitely return to stay again.
- Natasha (10/5): Really a fabulous hotel and I would recommend - The staff were so accommodating

- Leam (10/5): - Amazing place fabulous staff, especially in restaurants on Wednesday and Thursday. Reception staff are also very polite.
Cleaners are very accommodating Weather
- M5066VAbrianm (6/5): Ok if you are not fussy. - Room was small but clean and equipped well. Bed was comfortable. En-suite was dated. There was constant noise during the night, be it other guests having conversations or tv’s etc being on. None of the other guests had any intention of causing noise, but the levels of insulation and privacy is very poor. Food in the bar on the evening was ok. Ordered breakfast to the room for the morning and only the pot of tea was warm. Very disappointing. Parking is not great!!
- Mccracken (9/5): - Excellent value All good

- GM9760 (10/5): Staff make the hotel. - Reception staff are a credit to the hotel.
The security at the end of the night with the beard was a great lad.
Perfect stay.
- C-gr8stuff (10/5): Champion Hotel Staff- Conor for President! - Charity Performance for Brenda Finegan- From the moment we contacted the Imperial to the following day collecting promotional materials- the support from staff was exemplary.
The management were flexible when the numbers increased to their largest venue, and the staff on the night were excellent. In particular Conor the venue manager rose to every challenge, from backdrops, slideshows, pa. Backing music. and also being super flexible with the seating plan as well as all the staff -the other Conor in front bar, Niamh in reception, Thomas & Eva event bar staff, and event manager, Mariia.
It was a super night, and both family, acts, and audience thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
From all of us a big thank you.
