• 612madalinas (10/5): Very good experience! - Very clean rooms, confortable beds, kind staff, tasty breakfast, free parking lot. It is a great choice for a night, if ypu are in transit and just want to rest. It is positioned very close to Stift Melk.

The quality of the hotel was better than the 3 stars it carries. We also ate in the hotel restaurant for dinner once which was very good. Great to try local dishes and produce. Well connected location close to the train station and Melk Abbey which was well worth a visit.

• sweatshop51 (10/5): Great hotel - This was a great location just off the highway. There was plenty of parking. The breakfast was nice. The location wasn't close to downtown but it was just a short drive. There was a grocery store within walking distance. Rooms were clean and staff was helpful.

• Barbara (8/5): Alles bestens! - Wir verbrachten in diesem Hotel nur eine Nacht, fühlen uns sehr wohl und schliefen auf den bequemen Betten sehr gut. Vom Abendessen bin ich jedoch nicht so begeistert, die Knödel kamen aus der Mikrowelle, deshalb angetrocknet. Auswahl im Menü ist eher klassisch um nicht zu sagen etwas altmodisch. Dafür war das das Frühstück hervorragend! Sehr große Auswahl an Speisen, ob süße oder würzige. Kuchen sehr frisch und lecker. Meine Mama (95) bekam ein behindertengerechtes Zimmer (sollte man rechtzeitig reservieren). Die junge Dame an der Rezeption war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

• Y2215ZHclairet (8/5): A Lovely Hotel With a Very Big Heart - We found ourselves at Wachauerhof hotel, by misfortune after my father was taken ill on a river cruise and admitted to the local hospital. If you ever find yourselves in the misfortune we did, I can recommend no better place. Everyone has been so super friendly to us as a family as well as very supportive through what has been a very difficult time. The hotel is comfortable and super clean and the food was great. I can't thank you enough for looking after my Mum so well, I hope to see you again soon, thank you so much x
• Rondelle (10/5): Recommended - Very warm welcome, reception and dining room staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast and lunch were both good. Excellent location to Melk Abbey. Only a two block walk to a small shopping centre with a grocery store and pharmacy.

Auch das Frühstück war gut, mit einer ordentlichen Auswahl und frischen Produkten. Der Aufenthalt war kurz, aber alles Nötige war vorhanden. Empfehlenswert für einen kurzen Aufenthalt.

The staff was super friendly and helpful, and the hotel is in a great location, right by the very cute main strip of shops and restaurants, and just steps from Melk Abbey. Everything was clean and comfortable, and the shower had hot water and good water pressure. And, despite there being no air conditioning (apparently it just doesn't exist in this town), we were able to sleep well at night, as there are big windows that open, they gave us a fan, and the overnight low was fairly cool. The free breakfast was extensive and good, and there was a few parking, which was a plus. Highly recommended!

• pwurple (2/5): Avoid. No WiFi, no water, no air, plastic sheets and rude staff. - Avoid. No WiFi in rooms, no drinking water in rooms, no air conditioning and a weak fan provider to compensate. Plastic covers on the mattress. Hammering on the door at 8am by housekeeping. Cash only payment of city tax. An above all, the rudest receptionist who phoned my daughter at 9am (while we were having breakfast) to tell her to get out of the room by 9am. Breakfast runs until 10am and we were not advised of any requests for early checkout. Really rude behaviour from the staff. Very unpleasant place. Melk is a lovely town, avoid this kip.

• Richard (8/5): - Travelers should be aware that the hotel does not allow 4 adults to stay in the triple rooms even though the room has a queen bed and two singles. This limitation is buried in their terms and doesn’t make a great deal of sense. The only explanation we received was that “it is the rule”.

A power point beside the bed for phones would top it off. Breakfast was excellent quality and numerous options with fresh fruit etc
• Brian (6/5): A bit disappointing - Melk is a beautiful little town and a nice place to shop. The hotel is situated in a good place but it is quite dated, the staff was very friendly and the breakfast was good. Unfortunately the rooms have no air conditioning and it was very hot. Some of the floors are split level so be prepared to carry your luggage up a few stairs.

There is dated carpet in the rooms so be sure to bring your “inside shoes”. Very clean and very friendly frontline staff and parking is onsite which is a plus.

• Julant55 (8/5): Great location Great hotel - We stayed for just 1 night whilst on a cycling tour along the Danube. Absolutely loved Melk and this hotel was easy to find and in a great location to explore the town. Our room was spacious, super clean and well equipped. Breakfast buffet was delicious - especially all the beautiful bread. Right outside the hotel was a market on the Saturday with lots of stalls... but we also enjoyed live music in the town square. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Overall would highly recommend when in Melk. Good wifi reception too.

• Verified traveler (6/5): Nice but need to improve! - Melk has hot days every summer. This hotel does not have AC. That's why it is hard to understand that they don't have enough fans to at least provide guests in each room some air movement to deal with the high temps (80F+) in the rooms. We got lucky and got one, only to get a knock at the door from hotel staff asking that we return it so that other guests on the "warmer side of the hotel," who didn't have the fan that was intended for their use, could use it. It turns out they only have enough fans for rooms facing the south and west side, upon request. We refused to let ours go and were amazed at the staff/management's lack of tact in even suggesting that we return the device given that our room was very uncomfortable without the benefit of a fan. Why not have fans available for every room given that these hot days are not unusual ... or invest in AC? Seems like the fans would be the easiest, most economical choice. Needless to say, this incident really took an otherwise pleasant experience at the hotel down several notches. The breakfast at the hotel was very good and associated staff was friendly and helpful. Reception staff was average to indifferent in their interaction with us.
• bdon257 (10/5): One night stay here - We stayed here for one night as part of a tour in the region. We were very happy with our second floor room with a balcony overlooking the courtyard. It was very hot and we did have a large fan running all night and the door open too. That apart it was an immaculately clean and well appointed room. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner here and all the meals were very good indeed. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. The hotel is on a quiet one way street and ten minute walk to the Abbey on the hill.

• Raymond (8/5): Cramped quarters in Melk - We enjoyed our visit to Melk and its fabulous Abbey, and found the old town itself fascinating. We should have stayed longer... The hotel itself was a little disappointing. While there were no problems with check-in, cleanliness, breakfast, and so on, our room was poor. After using the elevator, we still had a flight of stairs to negotiate with our luggage (no help offered, though I am physically challenged) and found our room was an attic. We had hoped for a double bed at least, or even a king-sized bed, but what we got was a pair of single beds, one of which was jammed under the sloping roof so that to rise from it was dangerous. The room indeed had only three walls and a sloping roof, which made all movement perilous. The room was very hot, and we had to ask for help to prop the only window open to let in some air. Even then, the heat was oppressive until a member of staff brought a floor fan which we left running all day and all night. Everything else about our stay was fine, but the room was a big disappointment.
