Guest Reviews
- Mark (8/5): Clean and comfortable place to stay. - Clean and comfortable room (the shower dripped a bit though even though it looked newish to me). Parking a bit tricky, managed to get out though without too much manoeuvring.
- M (10/5): - Superb stay,friendly locals and the staff were great.
We will definitely stay here next time we are local.
Rooms are spotless, and the shower was excellent.
- Djon (8/5): A night in the embrace of the Kings Arms - The pub was quite noisy as it was a saturday night but from the bedroom you could not hear any of the internal noise.
Car Park is tiny but everyone was helpful in changing positions to allow for exits.Staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout. The room was too hot throughout thee night which made for an uncomfortable nights sleep. I was looking forward to a full english breakfast so was dismayed to be handed a brown paper bag for breakfast which although generously packed was no substitute.
- Peter (8/5): - The staff were very friendly, the food was good, the room was good, nice comfy bed, hot radiator, good shower, enjoyed my short stay, i would definitely book again, thank you
- David (8/5): - Bedroom & bathroom were spotless.
- Jackie (10/5): - Welcoming, all staff friendly, clean room, the single room, was good, had all amenities I needed.
- Niall (10/5): What a lovely place - Very clean and comfortable , lovely staff and easy check in .
Location brilliant
- Jacquelyn (10/5): Short break in Norfolk - Kings Arms is situated in centre of North Walsham & a short walk to the Travel Hub where you can pick up buses for local travel. Also staff at the Kings Arms were friendly & accommodating. Overall a very enjoyable stay.
- Tracy (10/5): Quick stop over to meet up with old friends - Easy book in. Room and surrounding corridors very clean. Big plus that we had connections to Sky in the room.
Didnt eat but food looked good. Great variety of drinks. Lovely staff. Thanks
- Chris (10/5): - It made a change to have TWO chairs & TWO hand towels in the room
Being over a pub remember it will be noisy until around 11.30pm
Parking is a nightmare but the staff were very helpful
- Barbara (8/5): - The room was very clean and comfortable..well supplied oir needs too..
The staff could not have been more helpful.
We found the music from the bar a bit overwhelming, but are understanding of the situation and would stay here again
- christine (10/5): - As a solo older female traveller I felt very safe . Thank you for an enjoyable stay.
- Ron (8/5): - It was the perfect place for our stay as it was very
close to the church, where we were attending a concert. The staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. The room was lovely, very clean & well presented, with an excellent shower & very comfy beds. The big downside was the noise from the pub’s outside space until the early hours of the morning. We expected some noise, of course, but this was a bit much - only managed 5-hrs sleep. But overall, we enjoyed our stay.
- Margaret (10/5): - Clean and comfortable bed and excellent shower.
The staff are very friendly and helpful, making the stay relaxed and enjoyable.
- mark (8/5): Mid week short stay - Good value and speedy booking in. Room overlooked road on first floor - thankfully mid week and not too much noise !
Nice touch as fan in room !
- Richard (6/5): Nice stay, but can be noisy. - Nice location and friendly staff. Room was fine but right on the street so can be a bit noisy on weekend nights. Unfortunately there was an event in the village until 2am on the night we stayed, which was a bit noisy. Not the hotels fault, but it did disturb our sleep.
- Sandra (8/5): - I would definitely stay again. The staff were really helpful when I said I’d be there very late, finding a way to help me check in smoothly. There was no cooked breakfast option - which is in the listing - but tea and coffee in the room, and a snack pack was provided (which I hadn’t expected). Staff went out of their way to help me park - the car park is small, but they found a way. This is an old building, and rooms aren’t sound-proofed in the way of modern hotels, but the cost was also half of what I might pay elsewhere. A good value option if you’re needing to stay close to the coast on a budget (who isn’t on a budget these days?), with helpful staff. I will return.
- PAULINE (10/5): - There is nothing to dislike about a stay at the Kings Arms in North Walsham. Thoroughly recommended!
- Judith (8/5): - We were made to feel very welcome, staff helpful and friendly. Only drawback was the parking at the hotel.
- Sarah (10/5): Miss a stay here and you miss a real treat! - From the immediate warm and genuinely friendly welcome, to the home cooked, delicious pub food, we could not fault this delightful inn. I have to be honest, I was not expecting the high standard we experienced for the price paid and so were especially delighted. The lovely touch of two (unexpected) continental breakfasts in 'go bags' for our onward journey the next day to the wonderfully comfortable bed and the obvious pride everyone we met takes in their property I cannot praise them highly enough - thank you !
- Myles (10/5): - Very good
- Terry (10/5): - Parking was a problem,
But used a public car park.
- Sophie (10/5): Superb - One night, just me- I was impressed by the little eco-friendly touches, paper wrapped soap and coffee sachets little reductions in plastic add up. As other reviewers I thought it was a lovely touch to include decent breakfast options in a little bag that I could eat there or take away. Only issue was the noise made by the water whenever I, or another guest turned on taps, shower or toilet. It was disconcerting but everything worked fine and I was more than comfortable. Great stay, not bad price either.
- T (8/5): Good clean affordable room - No free parking space so used large local cp.Friendly greeting from Hannah who showed us to our clean twin-bed room.Just the one chair. She explained that there was a complimentary breakfast in the bags. Photo attached. Also that there was Karaoke until 1am. A hot Friday night and a lively crowd until the wee small hours. All of this was available in previous reviews but it was a last minute booking and local to relatives and we hadn't read them, so a bit of a surprise.Still, good value, and probably avoiding Friday or Saturday, we'd stay again, but might get a breakfast in a local cafe.
- Jacqueline (8/5): Clean and comfy - Clean and airy room. Beds were very comfy. Shower was very good. Had Sky tv. A complimentary breakfast bag was in the room so very nice touch.
The room faces a busy road so it was noisy, we had to have them open because it was very humid however, a decent fan was inthe room so slept perfectly. Decor could do with an update.
- Richard (10/5): small but perfect - I only needed a simple single room, that is what I got. I even had a space to park my motorcycle. Single bed small bathroom with a shower. I didn't expect a TV but there was a small one with a sky package.I was happy with the price, and impressed it came with a pre-made breakfast. It was a Friday night and the room was over the bar of a lively pub so there was some noise until just after midnight but it didn't tarnish my stay.
- Peter (6/5): - There was a nasty smell in the en-suite (room 4). Fri and Sat nights very loud music until midnight. Car parking very limited.
- Julie (10/5): Highly recommend - Excellent location. Everyone welcoming and friendly. Food amazingly delicious and excellent value. Highly recommend steak night.Room was clean and comfortable. Great value for money.
We stayed Monday-Sunday.
- brian (10/5): Super Stay - We had an excellent three day stay in this vibrant North Walsham Pub and restaurant. The included packed Continental Breakfast was substantial and an unexpected bonus
- Fiona (10/5): - I stayed here as I was visiting an elderly friend who only lived across the street. The staff were all so friendly & very helpful, the housekeeping was also very good. I would definitely stay here again if I’m back in north walsham. There’s absolutely nothing I could fault about my stay here for the week.
- Michael (8/5): - Simple clean rooms above a pub.
- Ruth (6/5): - The room was lovely, the breakfast bag great but it would have been nice to be warned that live music would be played very loud until midnight on the two nights we stayed. We could at the least brought earplugs. The stay was fine other than that but prior knowledge would have been the polite thing to do.
- Keith (8/5): - Comfy beds, breakfast bags wete a bonus
- Bradley (10/5): - Lovely pub, very clean very friendly staff food was absolutely lovely definitely stay here again. We booked 4 rooms for 8 people and we all say the same.
- Cathy (10/5): Just the Ticket!! - We booked to stay for two nights whilst visiting the local area.
Check in was unbelievably simple, after which we were shown to our Room.
Throughout our stay all the Staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful.
We ate in the Bar on both nights of our stay. The Menu was very good and well priced. The Food was excellent and served with a smile.
Breakfast is not available in the pub itself but Guests are given a Continental Breakfast Bag in the Room for each morning. The contents had been well thought out - we particularly enjoyed the Instant Porridge, thank you!
In fact, throughout the whole stay, nothing was too much trouble.
There is a small car park at the Pub but space is tight - we were fine as only on a motorbike but, for cars, it could get tricky.
If in the area again, we would certainly stay here.
- Michael (8/5): - Nice central to Walsham place to stay. It is above the pub so you must expect some noise but all quiet after 11:30-12:00 pm. Didn’t try the bar or food but seeing how busy they were it must of been good. Would definitely stay again
- Gwyneth Joyce (10/5): 10 out of 10. - I can’t fault the Kings Arms or the staff.
The breakfast left in our room each day was plentiful and tasty. Plenty of tea, coffee, hot chocolate in room.
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff.
- Steve (10/5): - King's Head Hotel or KA as it is known locally exceeded our expectations.
We had 2 rooms booked for 9th November '24.
Checking in was a doddle. Greeted by a young man. Following minimal checking in procedure we were shown to our rooms.
Rooms were spotless and had only recently been updated. All furniture was of good, solid quality (I think some upcycling of chests of drawers ahd been done).
Bathroom was great. A vary large walkinshower complemented by white toilet and wash basin. All seemed new and possibly unused.
Bed was nice and comfy.
Went downstairs for a drink and tere were pleny of locals of ll ages present. Some drinking others eating. What food we witnessed being brought out to diners looked really good.
On return to the hotel at about 2300hrs we had to go past the nightclub attached to the hotel "The KA Club". Nice to see security on the door.
Pub was still open as it was a Saturday night. Others have said the drinks were a bit steep. We did not think so.
We knew it was not a B&B and were really surprised to find a continental breakfast in the room for each of us. A great touch.
As far as sleep goes there was very little noise from the nightclub. No road noise from 0100hrs.
I mentioned food earlier on. There is an extensive menu including breakfast. On a Sunday there is a carvery which is well attented.
Would we stay again. A big fat YES.
- Erik (10/5): - Staff vary friendly and helpful
Good value for money
- Alwyn (6/5): - In the Center of town easy to get to
Couldn’t get any parking or cooked breakfast
- Frederick (10/5): - Enjoyable stay. Hosts were brilliant. Only issue is the carpark is a bit small.
- leslie (4/5): - there was nothing unique about the property
- Francis (6/5): Not So Good - I. HAD TO COMPLAIN about the noise from 3. Huuuuge air fan type machines OUTSIDE the Window 2 solid days and nights every few minutes BOOM for several minutes.
That was 24 / 7.
3rd night they altered the timing.
It was INCREDIBLY LOUD.
People should be told to EXPECT that stuff.
It's Sneaky.
Also I Keep asking WHY my Coupon Voucher is not Given When I TRY to apply it....It's for 25 £.
I WANT TO USE IT..
- Hugh (10/5): - Good comfortable stay. V good VFM. Always like the breakfast bag!
- Paul (8/5): - The property is in the centre of town and easily accessible by road of foot. There is a small car park at the back which can park around 6 cars max. Rooms are a little dated but are clean enough and they have a good shower and tea and coffee making facilities. Staff were friendly
- Kelley (10/5): - Very friendly staff, clean inviting room.
- Jordan (10/5): - its was great!! thank you
- Peter (10/5): - They are better than they think! We had an excellent stay (3 nights) and the stay couldn’t have been better. Really friendly and helpful staff and more than great value for money.
- Terence (8/5): - Very friendly staff
- Peter (8/5): - Good clean rooms.well decorated for an old building. Excellent pub .
- Janet (8/5): - Nice and central with variety of shops. Bar and restuarant accessible in property. Staff helpful and friendly. Value for money.
- Elgiva (4/5): - The room was cleaner than the venue, dated and the bar area was not very clean. No breakfast as no chef for breakfast, so left a bag in the room, not what we were expecting. The bag had golden syrup porridge and flapjack neither of which we could eat as diabetic. Spoke to staff and they could offer no alternatives. Not good as cost £75 for one night stay in a twin room.
- Ann (10/5): - Lovely stay as alwsys good staff freindly & helpful. the rooms are xlean & quiet at night.
- virginia (8/5): One night stop over - We had a stop over to visit a country house and although England were playing in the football and it was so packed. The room was lovely and not noisy and they were so helpful, we would def use them again. Food good too
- Mark (10/5): - Friendly attentive staff on arrival & during our stay. Breakfast pack for the room a nice touch
- Stephen (8/5): - Very clean.Friendly staff.Nice food. Two young people serving meals were excellent- Ellen and Jasper I think they were called. The Kings Arms was a good base for exploring the area.Good value for price and plenty in the breakfast bags.Downside is the parking we had to use acar park which was 6 pounds overnight but all in all still good value.
- Adrian (8/5): - Nice clean hotel
- David (10/5): A nice reasonably priced pub hotel. - First let's get this out of the way. The King's Arm's is a busy popular pub. The single room is above the bar and next to the outside courtyard. It will be noisy until closing time.
Having said that, if like me this doesn't bother you It's a great place to stay.
Really friendly staff team, a good selection of beer and good pub food.
The off street parking is a bit limited, but I've stayed here twice now and not had a problem parking my motorbike.
I will definitely stay here again..
- Edward (10/5): - wanted somewhere to stay for a night in North Walsham
to save me going home and back to North Walsham the next day home and back which would have been a 5 hour drive
- Sid (10/5): - We found this hotel to be excellent...with very friendly staff ( except for the check out onThursday 29th , the girl was so miserable looking and lacking in conversation). We did not have an evening meal there , but heard some good reports. The continental breakfast bag in the room was great , and unexpected. We would have no hesitation on staying here again.
- andrew (10/5): - really enjoyed our stay at kins arms, a lovely place with very helpful and friendly staff, who always went beyond.very pleased we were allowed a slightly later ceck out as train not till later. will def come back
food was great too
- Richard (10/5): - Excellence
- phil (10/5): - One night stay but very impressed.
- Erik (10/5): - Staff very friendly excellent food in the pub
Plenty of interesting places to visit nearby
Good value for money
- Peter (10/5): - Liked it all except very noisy afte midnight
- Jacqueline (10/5): - Nice big spotlessly clean room, very comfortable beds, extremely reasonable price, great location in the centre of town, really friendly staff and very good food.
- Laura (6/5): - There's a difference between a hotel, a B&B, and a room above a pub - this is definitely a room above a pub.
It advertised parking yet when I arrived the 'car park' was completely full. I had to use a nearby pay and display. When I checked in I was told it might empty a bit later but I was going to an event where I would be drinking so I had to leave it in where it was..This added £6 onto the cost.
When I was shown my room I was asked about a second guest. When I said it was just me the person checking me in took one of the breakfast bags. It felt a bit churlish to have it taken away when I had paid the same price for the room.
Yes, I said breakfast bag. A tub of porridge, a plastic wrapped croissant, a flapjack, an apple, and a carton of apple juice. One pub I have stayed in (for over £30 less) had a delicious local sourced fry-up, it was a shame they couldn't offer anything like that.
The worst part was the noise. I received an email with a lot of information in advance and it says it has entertainment on Friday and Saturday until midnight. I think that's done to put off people complaining. I left my event at 9 as I was really tired and tried to relax. The entertainment was thumpingly loud and made it impossible to sleep
Overall I was disappointed. If you are going to charge hotel prices you need to offer hotel service. This was nowhere near
- John (8/5): Great value stay - Made to feel really welcome by the team and indeed fellow customers. Comfortable sleep and the breakfast bags much appreciated.
Food in the evening was excellent quality and definitely good value.
Only observation, and not a criticism in any way, is that there’s live music on Friday and Saturday nights so if you’re a light sleeper, earplugs would be recommended.
It wasn’t a problem for us and we fell asleep easily enough, but if you are a light sleeper then bear it in mind.
- Robin (10/5): - It was very nice pub and freindly to rooms very clean 👌
- Annmarie (10/5): - Lovely pub, friendly, room was very clean and comfy and there was a great shower in the bathroom. We didn’t eat there as were off to a New Year Eve venue, but really appreciated the bag of breakfast in our room in the morning, Sainsbury’s porridge, croissant jam and butter, OJ, apple and flapjack. Nice little touch. Would recommend. If you don’t like noise/entertainment then don’t book on one of their disco nights.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - There was no food on as something had bolen in the kitchen
- Linda (10/5): - Was very nice stay but due to lack of parking facilities I probably wouldn’t stay again although the staff went out of their way to juggle the cars parked!
- Erik (10/5): - Staff very helpful and friendly, food tasty and good value, lots of interesting plaves to visit locally
- Andrew (10/5): Weekend away - Nice oldy worldy pub in a lovely little village..everything clean and comfy..Landlord and staff very pleasant and helpful..Car park is tiny but wasn't a problem for us..Had a great weekend.
- Ms J J (8/5): Nice but noisy - Nicely made up room, very clean. Perfect for one person. Lovely little packed breakfast ready to go for the morning.Staff were very nice.
The rooms are over a busy pub, great is you have a late arrival. It is not a quiet place to stay at the weekend. Between the Karaoke till early morning and the whine on the air compressors not a lot of sleep was had especially as I had early starts. If you are joining in downstairs this wouldn't be an issue otherwise take your earplugs.
- John (10/5): - This is a busy pub b&b. The rooms and linen were spotless - a lot of work goes into being clean and tidy. You have 24hr access in/out after check-in at the bar. You are right in N.Walsham centre and there is cheap ample parking round the corner in Bank Loke rather than try to use the pub car park.
There is a lot of late night music in the pub, but we didn't notice it really. It's not the Ritz but great value instead. We got a breakfast bag rather than actual breakfast and we were fine with that too.
Ensuite for our room had saniflow which is a little noisy and worrisome, but worked fine.
- Rosemary (10/5): Fabulous find - Booked to attend a funeral and couldn't have been happier with the accommodation. Arrived, met by a lovely young lady who couldn't have been more helpful. Had a light lunch, which was really good, so had a meal in the evening, just as good. The accommodation was beautifully equiped, furnished and spotless. Would totally recommend
- neil (8/5): - Lovely place to stay only drawback not doing cooked breakfast last year did but didn’t state they had stopped doing them
- Florian-Danut (10/5): - Nice and clean. Friendly and helpful staff. Thank you
- Mervyn (8/5): - Rooms were spotless & comfortable. Were looked after when we checked in. Situated in town so everything at hand.
- Paul (8/5): Review - Stayed for a night. Room was superb and comfortable, only minor quibble was I couldnt get sound to work on the TV, but as that was only for background noise when showering & getting ready the following morning, not an issue as such for me.
Breakfast on the go left in the room was a nice touch - many thanks.
Parking was a nightmare. But eventually managed to get a parking spot in nearby Market St
Would I stay here again? Yes
- Theresa (6/5): - The accommodation and bathroom facilities were clean and good for what we paid, we did expect it to be a little noisy at times because it is a pub and we were warned about this when we booked, it was very noisy on the Saturday evening until 1am. We were a little disappointed to find that there was no cooked breakfast available and that the continental breakfast offered, consisting of a pre-packed croissant, jam and butter portion, carton of apple juice, pot of instant porridge, a large pre-packed flapjack, an apple and a disposable knife and spoon was in a brown paper bag in the room when we checked in at 2pm. The landlord did however direct us to a cafe across the road if we wanted a cooked breakfast and did tell us about the menu options available in the bar. The accommodation was adequate for our needs as we spent most of our weekend out and about with family.
- Angela (8/5): Good base for exploring north Norfolk - We stayed on a Friday and Saturday night with our two grown-up children. Our rooms were clean, modern and comfortable with a continental breakfast supplied, which was a pleasant surprise. The Kings Arms is a town centre pub with rooms. The car park is very small, but we managed to park on both days. Our host was very friendly and accommodating. Their email did warn us about the live entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays but the noise was quite muted in our rooms and didn’t prevent us from getting to sleep. North Walsham itself was quiet but had a few other pubs and cafes. It was an ideal vase for a weekend exploring North Norfolk.
- Rod (10/5): - All the staff were very friendly and helpful.
- Jacqueline (10/5): Fabulous overnight stay - Lovely clean room, tea, coffee and biscuits in the room, as well as a complimentary Continental breakfast
Friendly staff, I worked certainly stay again
- Robert (10/5): - Great
- Sue (10/5): - Clean and modern accommodation. Friendly and helpful staff. Great food
- Brian (6/5): - Nice characterful pub B&B however limited parking facilities and noisy rooms from late bar activities. Very clean and recently modernised rooms make for a pleasant stay. The restaurant is very good with generous portions at reasonable prices and of course good beer. Staff are friendly and helpful. As a overnight or two night stay perfectly adequate at reasonable price.
- Peter (8/5): - noise from people out side well after closing time.
- adrian (10/5): Helpful - Very frienbly and helpful , being disabled couldn't do anough for me and my wife
- Rona (10/5): Welcoming, clean and friendly. - Had a smashing week at the Kings Arms and enjoyed every minute. Made to feel very welcome from the moment we walked in.
Its bigger than it looks from outside so no shortage of available seats, best to book a table in the restaurant though as it does get quite busy.
Bedroom was very comfortable and the plenty of drawer space. En suite bathroom was clean and the shower was very efficient.
Room cleaned every day, towels changed and fresh supplies of tea and coffee with a large bottle of water. We also got a breakfast bag every day with a selection of breakfast goodies including porridge, croissants, flapjacks etc along with a drink and a piece of fruit.
The only downside was the size of the car park which got very congested at times but this did not affect our stay at all. A big thank you to Martin and all his staff for a lovely week.
- Chris (4/5): - On the negative side, we visited on a weekend and expected it to be noisy, and it certainly was, as it is in a town centre location and we had been notified in advance that there was likely to be live music and karaoke on Friday and Saturdays. However, not only were we kept awake most of the night with rowdy and drunk people in the street outside but worst of all we had no privacy as we could clearly hear the conversation that the guests in the adjoining room were having late into the night and from 6 a.m in the morning when they got up. They were not shouting, nor even talking loudly but it was as if there was no noise insulation in the thin wall between the bedrooms. We hardly dared to talk in case our conversation could also be heard!
The car park was constantly full and double parked forcing us to park in the pay and display car park near by.
On the positive side the staff were friendly, the evening meal was good and the location was superb for exploring the town and surrounding area.
- John (8/5): - A typical smaller, uneven-floorl pub room, noisy until closure. Comfortable bed, good shower and very friendly helpful staff.
- Ian (10/5): Olde worlde charm with modern facilities - Historic building with clean modern facilities. Good menu and bar with very friendly helpful staff. Not doing cooked breakfast due to staff shortage but left a breakfast bag in the room each day instead. Small car park but staff will find a space for you. The bar has music at the weekend but it finishes early. Very well pleased. Our room had a sloping floor its the wonky room...
- Louisa (10/5): - We chose this hotel as it is in within walking distance of our son’s house. It is also a lively town centre pub but it didn’t disturb us. The staff were friendly and the room was spotless, comfortable and well equipped. The complimentary packed breakfasts were very generous. The car park is small but we managed to find a parking spot. The location is convenient for the town centre and public transport and also as a base for trips around the Broads and Norfolk coast and countryside.
- Rob (8/5): - An ideal place to stay if visiting North Walsham or walking the Weaver’s Way (like I was)😊
- Dominic (6/5): - Parking on site is unrealistic as it is always full with pub-goers, and very noisy until closing time around 12pm.
No TV signal and no-one around to ask for help with it.
- Nick (6/5): - Good food and staff
- Michelle (10/5): - Exceptionally friendly staff,
Cleanliness was excellent
- Vivienne (8/5): Coronation weekend, solo cycling - Very helpful staff. Comfortable clean room and the breakfast goodie bag a pleasant surprise.
A very popular noisy pub, so don't expect an early quiet night. I would stay there again.
