The vibe in downtown Hamilton can't be beat, and the Colgate Inn is perfectly positioned as the Village's signature building and launching pad to explore all the Village has to offer. The INN's comfort, ambience, and awesome food/beverage scene will draw you in and, if not careful, keep you inside. Don't make that mistake as, just steps away, you'll enjoy a nice variety of locally owned shops, restaurants, breweries, wineries, theaters and more. One of the most walkable and pedestrian friendly places to walk around and take it all it. Can't wait to go back!
- N3971BNsuzanner (10/5): Home Away from Home - The Colgate Inn is a special place and once you've visited, you'll want to keep returning. It's the perfect balance of timeless elegance and coziness. The lobby is beautiful and inviting. It's a great spot to enjoy your welcome drink, just relax or tackle the latest puzzle displayed in the corner nook which my husband always enjoys. The rooms are wonderful especially the suites which provide ample space, and a luxurious and comfortable atmosphere. The Taverns ambience is amazing as well. It's great that there's a restaurant on site offering an innovative menu which is always stellar. What really makes The Colgate Inn extraordinary is the staff. They always go above and beyond to make our stay really memorable and enjoyable with their warm and kind demeanor. It's a place we'll keep coming back to!

- katherinehV9209IT (10/5): Lovely boutique hotel near universities and colleges - On a visit to see my niece who is a freshman at Hamilton College, I stayed at The Colgate Inn for several nights. As someone who works in the travel and hospitality industry, I researched hotels in the area and came across this boutique hotel. The stay was enjoyable on every level - from the design details of the interior to the comfort of the rooms. Next time, I will book a suite for more room and so my niece can stay with me during the visit. The staff is helpful and the Tavern restaurant in the hotel is fantastic - we ate there for dinner twice. The location is ideal for anyone coming in the area as it's close to Colgate, Hamilton and walking distance to the town of Hamilton with a lot of cute cafes and shops. Since my niece will be at Hamilton for the next 4 years, I plan on visiting her often and will definitely make The Colgate Inn my number one choice for where to stay on my visits to the area.
- Navigator14465092777 (10/5): Perfect little getaway to celebrate our anniversary! - My husband and I celebrated 39 years by staying at the Colgate Inn. The staff, especially Ruth at the front reception area, was amazing. She went above and beyond making our anniversary celebration memorable. My husband had a charcuterie board waiting and Ruth surprised us by leaving a bottle of champagne and two glasses waiting for us in our room. She was knowledgeable with suggestions to visit. The apple cider in the lobby was delicious. We were told if there was anything by we needed, reach out to the front desk. The decor is old-school classic. The bed was comfortable, the room was a perfect size. There’s a restaurant on site with a bar. We drove to a small cider store and the area is very country quaint. There’s even a casino not too far! This was our second time staying there. We will definitely be going back. This time, we’ll go in the summer and visit the farmers market.

The front desk lady Teresa was just a sweetheart. When she was checking us in she was really helpful on things to do and places to eat. She made us feel welcomed and that's what it's all about about.

The rooms are lush/historic. The dining and bar will give you the kind of wining and dining you will return to. The town and campus is 100 postcards of vistas and beauty. Walk -hike- golf. Look forward to bringing family next time.

An historic building that brings you back in time but had all the modern essentials. - chuckg885 (10/5): The Colgate Inn is Consistently an Amazing Stay! - I've stayed at the Colgate Inn every 3 months or so for business for the past 5 years. My experiences at the Inn are always a highlight of my visit and I would never choose another stay anywhere else. For starters, the Inn is located right in the heart of downtown Hamilton; a small and unique little Village nestled in the rolling hills of upstate NY just south of Utica. If you are looking for a historic stay, clean and comfortable rooms, and an amazing Tavern in which to experience really really good food and drink....this place is it! I cannot say enough. Lastly, I'd like to highlight the staff that continuously makes my stay the best. They always give me the red carpet treatment my entire stay. Thank you to Dennis, the General Manager and the front desk team for always taking care of me (Teresa, Ruth, and Jennifer), and my morning breakfast server at The Tavern (Cheryl) who literally anticipates my arrival time, morning coffee wishes, and how I like my eggs before I even say Good Morning. The bar/restaurant attached is wonderful and has great food and atmosphere. Kinda place that still leaves a chocolate mint in your room from the local chocolate store. Highly Recommend!
- MBones7 (10/5): Love This Place - First visit back last month after about 10 -15 years or so. My memory was that it was a quaint inn in a really neat little college town. Hamilton is still the same (great) but now the Colgate Inn is more like a high-end boutique after a renovation. Comfortable rooms, great service, convenient and friendly restaurant. Only downside is the price, but options in the area are limited.

We also loved the conversations we overheard which focused on the college. Not why we were there, but it added interest.

Its location, ambiance, attention to detail and overall appearance are excellent. It has the charm of a classical-style building with all the accoutrements necessary to make a stay most comfortable. Its ample parking lot in the back is very convenient. Its proximity to Hamilton's main places of interest a bonus. This is a place where relaxation and comfort go hand in hand, in the beautiful, calm, and peaceful environment of Hamilton, NY. I will stay there again next time I am in town and I highly recommend it to all visitors.

I cannot fully express how special the experience has been. The Inn itself is beautiful and charming. From the moment you walk in, you are warmly greeted , and offered a complimentary glass of champagne. There is also complimentary coffee in the morning , as well as treats throughout the day. The rooms are beautifully decorated and impeccably clean. Many rooms overlook the charming town of Hamilton. The Inn is ideally located in the heart of town and a short walk from campus. Another amazing feature is the Tavern, which has a great bar that gives you all the Colgate vibes, as well as offers delicious food! Holiday time is extraordinarily special at Colgate Inn as well. The lobby and Tavern are decorated beautifully. My husband and I always say that we will continue to visit The Inn even after our kids have graduated!

Actually we booked for one night but extended our stay another night to enjoy another day of cool and comfortable temps. We greatly enjoyed our stay. The room was great - super clean, comfortable, and quiet. The staff are excellent - friendly and helpful. And we enjoyed multiple meals in the Tavern. We're already looking forward to a retrun visit.

My husband joined on this trip and thoroughly enjoyed himself as well. Our servers, Zoey & Megan, were very good. The French onion soup was delish and the whipped feta was incredible! Ruth is so friendly and informative. Always nice to see a familiar, friendly face and someone who's so helpful. She put the fire table on for us to sit around and enjoy, and then put out the s'mores kits (which my husband loved!).
- wilcar78 (10/5): Go 'Gate! - Spent two evenings at the Colgate Inn with two other Colgate Alumni couples. The accomodations at the Colgate Inn were wonderful! The Inn has been updated since our last visit and all for the better! The rooms were spacious (although there were no dressers), clean and comfortable. We ate at the Tavern for both dinner and breakfast and each meals were filling, delicious and high quality serviced. The staff could not be nicer from the moment that we checked in to the servers at the restaurant (Meghan, Shannon & Cheryl). I wish I could give it more than 5 stars!
- Q2088FWjohnc (10/5): Excellent! - The stay was wonderful. The occasion was bitter sweet because we were dropping our child at school. But the Colgate Inn took great care of us. Ruth at the front desk made sure everything was perfect for our stay. The location couldn't be better, and we loved the restaurant. The beds are as comfortable as it gets. I hope to be back very soon.

I would like to compliment and commend the excellent service provided by Teresa at the Front Desk! Thank you for your hospitality and for making us always feel so welcomed. Everything was absolutely amazing and every need was catered with utmost perfection. We appreciate all that you do for making our visits consistently feel like a VIP experience. Ruth was also wonderful with the teams returning back. She went out of her way to prepare s’more packages to enjoy by the fire pit. The girls loved it!!! They are all delightful and always eager to help. THANK YOU! If you're in Hamilton, I highly recommend staying at the Colgate Inn!

The Inn exudes charm, and our rooms were exceptionally clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. We also had a lovely dinner at the Tavern, enjoying the patio on a beautiful summer evening. I look forward to a return visit!

- Suzan (4/5): Disappointing - The lobby is beautiful and check in staff friendly. The Tavern had character and was fun. The food was nothing special, had to send back undercooked whole mini carrots twice. The menu was also very limited if you have dietary restrictions. The roasted chicken special was delicious. The room was a total disappointment. The bed creaked at any nice, the room was cramped and you nearly had to shimmy sideways to cross the room to a tiny bathroom. The hair drier was broken. I would not stay again or recommend.

The Inn had notified us that there would be limited dinner options. However, when we arrived, they informed us that there was a change of plans, and they were able to provide us with a wonderful meal! It was our first Easter away from home and this was a fabulous surprise. The women that worked that evening (Unfortunately I did not get their names) went above and beyond!!!

- Bridgett (8/5): Colgate Inn visit - Hamilton, New York has few options for parents of Colgate University students. This is a huge deciding factor for my daughter's college choices. Colgate Inn is very nice, very well appointed, clean, and quiet, but it is very expensive and one of the only choices. I will note that the breakfast was almost inedible but the coffee was decent.
