The hotel has a great vibe and a great view of the harbor from the dining room. The pillows need to be replaced and curtains or shades that do not allow so much light in at 5:00. We understand water pressure in older structures may not be strong, but perhaps it could be checked.

• Marco (9/5): Top Lage mit Aussicht - Die Lage des Hotels ist sehr gut. Das Hotel liegt zentral und die meisten Zimmer bieten einen schönen Blick über die Bucht. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Das Frühstück ist von sehr guter Qualität und schmeckt hervorragend, alles frisch zubereitet. Das Frühstück wird von der Karte ausgewählt, also kein Buffet. Von der Bestellung des Frühstücks bis es serviert wird vergingen 25 bis 30 Minuten. Wir waren 4 Tage da, es hat an allen 4 Tage so lange gedauert. Auch wenn man im Urlaub ist, ist dies ein wenig zu lang.

The breakfast was delicious. Plenty of choice, well cooked and presented. Staff were very plesant and professional. Would definitely stay again.
• N4853WUwendyr (10/5): Solo visit to St Ives - A lovely hotel at the top of the hill with breath taking views of the harbour. Just walk out of the station, don’t go up the steps on the left, and the hotel is right in front of view. It’s then an easy walk downhill into the centre of St Ives. The wind did whistle round my room the first night but it was worth it. The young staff were all very professional and friendly. The food was all freshly cooked and of a high standard. My only complaint was that some of the portion sizes were rather small, especially the anchovies, and only one tomato in the side salad.

• Dream42803567311 (6/5): Disappointed. - Booked the restaurant on the basis of head chef being on Great British Menu. Not sure what chef thinks of running a restaurant but it was a very average meal out. Ambience: mix of people having a drink and others having a meal. Pub setting more than restaurant. Service: pleasant enough staff, but didn’t know the catch of the day. Couldn’t advise on the wine by the glass. Food: Anchovies starter swamped by olive oil. I waited 10 minutes for a finger bowl. Beef shin ragu was ok but was again swamped by the ragu. Fish taco was only warm and the taco seemed uncooked. And…..we have dined in pubs, 3 star restaurants etc and have always been able to have bread served to mop up sauces etc. N o bread here, could be Chef’s desire to concentrate taste on his food. Who knows… The chef appeared on his own in the kitchen. Pluses: The view over the harbour was gorgeous. Very moderate charges. Service charge voluntarily. Service charge voluntarily.

• matokie (10/5): Perfect spot in St Ives - I could not have been happier with my stay at the Harbour View House! I was in St Ives for a couple days to celebrate my 50th birthday and was very pleased that I chose the Suite, the view was just amazing and I gasped out loud when I walked in! I arrived by train and the HVH is located mere steps from the station, and then convenient to everything you want to do in town. I walked everywhere, up and down the steep St Ives streets, and even over to Carbis Bay for dinner one evening. The atmosphere was just lovely too, from the warm greeting I received when I arrived, to the hip, unfussy decor in my room, to the giant picture window in the breakfast room. Breakfast itself was quite generous with a whole range of options including fantastic vegetarian plates for me. I felt like I was getting good value for my money for a very nice room on Easter weekend. My room was very clean, and had a wonderful clawfoot bathtub that I took advantage of in addition to a shower. I heard very little sound from any other guests, only the crashing of the waves and the famous squawking St Ives gulls, all heaven to my ears!

Only bad thing is the noise from the seagulls none stop all night but being next to the sea this cannot be helped. Excellent value for money would definitely return.

• anzhelikad2026 (10/5): Bliss St. Ives stay - highly recommended - My partner and I stayed in mid March for his birthday. A Monday evening, so not as busy as the weekends we assumed. St Ives at this time of the year is special, quiet enough to feel the peace but busy enough to have a decent atmosphere. The location of the hotel sits high up one side of the main bay, with excellent views spanning over St Ives. We had one of the sea view rooms, the view was just as spectacular in the day as it was at night. A short, 5-10 minute walk takes you to the market street and main harbour. The room itself was clean, well decorated, spacious and offered everything needed. The bed was extremely comfortable and en suite bathroom immaculate. Breakfast was included in our price, with unlimited coffee, which they source from local suppliers. The breakfasts were delicious! Very fresh ingredients used and generous with portion size. We’d had a full English, breakfast burrito, a croissant, orange juice and three coffees. If we’d had this out, we’d be looking at £50 easy, so value for this is amazing. We’d only met one of the hotel staff, whose name I didn’t catch, but he was warm, welcoming and genuinely happy to chat and help. A lovely Aussie man who is an asset to the team! Thanks very much for a top stay, we will definitely be coming back.

Parking was allocated and just a short stroll away, a huge bonus. Cool, beach-chic style to the bedroom and communal areas. Friendly and accommodating staff. Delicious coffee and lots of choice for breakfast. Restaurant area had chilled vibe with plenty of space for remote working. The most comfortable bed in the world. Convenient parking space available really close by. Will definitely recommend and sure to be back sometime soon. A real oasis and calm space to escape the winter weather and, I can imagine, the summer crowds.

Breakfast was excellent & GF bread provided for one of us & very welcome. Excellent location & nicely quirky access when using the back door. Mihaka was super helpful & made things easy for us. Would definitely recommend & stay again!

From the moment we arrived to us leaving 3 days later the staff were helpful and attentive, nothing seemed to much. The food and drinks were good at every sitting we tried and not one complaint about they quality at any point, with my wife declaring it was the bet Sunday dinner she had ever had. The rooms were spotless and the view was everything they had described. We will definitely heading back here next time we head for St Ives! Highly recommended..........

Food and drinks also incredible. You must try a Margarita and Pasta Club! Beautiful rooms and such comfy beds. That focaccia bread! The breakfasts..... Great location. Loved it all.

Location was perfect for walking into town. View from our room was lovely over the harbour. Corridors could be a bit loud, but didn’t bother us much at all and a very minor thing.

The hotel is perfectly situated, an easy walk from the train station with fabulous views over the harbour both from our room, no.6 on 2nd floor , and the breakfast/dining room. Arrived on a Sunday and ate at the hotel restaurant. Their Sunday roasts are the best we have had in a long while, both vegetarian and beef, a real treat. The breakfasts are also very good with interesting options. The staff are a great team, very friendly, all of them. Decor throughout the hotel is a modern take on a relaxing beachy vibe. The room was small, but had everything we needed, and a comfortable bed. The shower was not the best, hard to get to the right temperature, but a very slight niggle in an otherwise perfect stay. This was our first visit to St Ives, very glad to have chosen this place to stay and would not hesitate to recommend it.

Comfortable bed. Breakfast menu was great, the burrito is highly recommended! 20% off food and drink in the hotel restaurant which is a great offer. Only downside, we found the water pressure in the shower to be low and temperature control wasn’t great but we managed. Was great to use parking available (£6 per day). Waking up every day to a view of the harbour has replenished my happiness battery ready for the year ahead. Will most definitely return!

Only slight disappointment was that the restaurant was closed on two of the evenings, as the food on Sunday was excellent.

The breakfast was made to order and varied and delicious. The parking was convenient. The staff were all friendly and most helpful especially the manager who assisted us when booking in.

Incredible views and everything was bright, clean and perfect for my mother’s stay. Room 2 felt a little bit tired and slightly run down. It was quite noisy as it overlooked the street.

Sitting looking out over the harbour with a coffee and one of the best almond croissants I've had ( full of filling) is an ideal introduction to St Ives. Thoroughly recommend!

Hotel is centrally located and easy to find, the staff were friendly and very helpful, the room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The food at the hotel's restaurant was very good quality with a wide range of choices - breakfast was included in my stay. Overall very good value. I would highly recommend and be happy to stay again. Great view of the harbour too!
• Karen_Kingswinford (4/5): Disappointing - It is with regret I write this review. We had such high hopes for Harbour View House after reading the wonderful reviews. However, our experience sadly wasn’t quite the same. First I will acknowledge the positives. The staff are fabulous. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. Secondly, the view from our room ( number 1) was incredible, spanning practically the whole of the town, harbour and beaches, furthermore the arranged parking is an absolute boon for which we were very grateful. However, after saying that our experience began to fall desperately short. Our first hiccup was that the radiator in our room didn’t work. Occasionally it was lukewarm, but on the whole it was cold. The room was a good size with draughty windows and only a heated towel rail in the bathroom. In addition, this was December and pretty nippy outside ( and inside now in our case) There was a small portable heater in the room however its output was inadequate given the size of the room . We went to the bar and brought this to a member of staff’s attention, he apologised profusely and said that room hadn’t been used for some days and there was probably no hot water either ( he was correct!) He said another portable heater would be brought up to the room and he kindly comped our two drinks. Sure enough there was another heater waiting for us upon our return , however, on plugging it in, sadly it didn’t work at all. I put a post it note on it for the cleaning staff but it remained in the room. Luckily my husband had a small blow heater in the car which we brought in and used. For breakfast on our first morning we were served almost raw, uncooked poached eggs and lukewarm baked beans - we were disappointed to say the least. Breakfast had been mentioned as a positive on previous reviews, so maybe, as this was the Christmas and New Year holiday period, this was a one off? On day two, I opted for fried eggs, surmising that these would at least be hot and freshly cooked? However, my fried eggs were black in parts and totally inedible ( see photo) - I also had burnt toast and a burnt tomato to accompany the questionable eggs. As a result of these two poor breakfasts, for the rest of our stay every day we walked down to St Ives and paid for our breakfast in a local cafe. In addition, there was a large yellow stain on our shower tray, and a stagnant water smell emitting from the shower drain hole. We had to run the shower for five minutes to dissipate the smell. The bathroom fan, and toilet brush were also very dirty. ( see fan photo) We felt there was no one to contact directly to address our concerns on the days it happened, no one to visit our room and actually see our radiator and bathroom odours. We were two days without coffee tea and milk because we weren’t told on check in that they were on a table at the end of the corridor and not in the room as you would have expected. To summarise, we were asked on departure how our stay had been and reluctantly we told the truth. The person on reception seemed genuinely apologetic and said he would be in touch via email on the 5th of January.Sadly, although I have waited in the hope that contact would be made, this never happened. We paid in full, £1220 for a 5 night stay, bed and breakfast. Going forward, we hope that Harbour View House addressed our observations for their future guests.
• alexandesmed (10/5): Top marks all round - Came for a quiet and relaxing holiday with my wife in January. We were both so impressed by how welcoming and helpful the staff were and the food is unreal! Amazing dinner menu and also such incredible hotel breakfast with table service - absolutely outstanding. Beautiful view of the harbour from the restaurant and our room. Hotel and room was really clean with nice minimalistic decoration. Would 100% recommend staying here we absolutely loved it!

• Beverley (10/5): We will definitely stay here again and recommend to friends - The view was amazing! The room was very clean and lovely decor. There was nothing not to like. All the staff were brilliant and friendly. Never had food or service this good anywhere else and we have travelled and stayed in a lot of places.

Ives, hands down. It is the picture postcard view you see everywhere and the comes with the views from the suite. The staff were very good and friendly and the breakfast was excellent. One of, if not the best breakfast I have ever had. Well worth a visit a stay. Lovely place. Nothing
