- Verified traveler (10/5): - We stayed in the Mary Kate suit. The room was quaint, historic, beautifully furnished, comfortable and fun. The private balcony over-looking the lake was the perfect setting to relax. The wicker sofa on the balcony was even so comfortable we sat looking at the lake much longer than we meant to. The hostess was friendly, welcoming, and informative when we arrived. We didn't see her again, but we didn't need to. She had everything set up for a wonderful easy stay. The next morning we found a beautiful tray had been set outside our door with fruit and chocolate croissants. The house was full the night we were there, but the set up was perfect and we only saw or heard other guests in passing. Its a short 2 block walk to the historic downtown Grandbury square for shopping and dinging. On a Thursday night several bands were playing at local restaurants and we easily found free entertainment that was relaxing and fun. I highly recommend staying with Tina and her family at the Captain's House!
- Karen (10/5): Wonderful stay - I was pleasantly surprised with the accommodations at the Captain's House On The Lake in Granbury, TX. Check-in was easy, all communications were handled professionally and promptly. The room was lovely and well furnished with plenty of areas for relaxing, as well as sleeping. There were double vanities in the restroom and the sheets were the softest!! Lastly, the views of the lake were very nice as well. I will definitely stay here again!

- Apala (10/5): Beautifully restored historic home - We enjoyed our stay at this beautifully restored historic home. Owners Tina and Tony were so helpful and friendly. There are several nice areas to sit in the shade and enjoy the lake. It is several minutes from the historic downtown area. We would certainly stay there again!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect for weekend getaway - Love Tina. She is amazing and informative. Loved the house and my room. Within easy walking distance to everything! Great views. Will come back to the area just to stay here again
- Patrice L (10/5): Gracious, charming, great views, enough parking. - Steep narrow stairs to the 2nd floor. We managed but only just. If you can't handle stairs, be sure to book Early and ask for a ground floor room. Very comfy bed, linens, etc. Needs more electrical outlets and brighter bulbs in the lamps but it is a Very old house. Really nice. Wish breakfast had been more substantial. Needed protein.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Tina ( owner) was so sweet and personable . It was great getting to know her. Very close easy walk to town square. My husband enjoyed fishing off the dock and I liked just relaxing in the shade by the water. Awesome place to stay- very beautiful house.
- James (10/5): Wonderful Stay in Historic Home - For the 4th of July we decided to stay at “The Captain’s House on the Lake” in Granbury, Texas. The Trenholm Suite is a two room suite with private bath. The sitting area includes a daybed and faces towards the town square in the distance. Between the sitting area and the private bath is the bedroom with queen bed. The room was so pretty that we joked that we didn’t want to even sit on the beds they were so nice.
Just outside the room is a huge common area letting to the front balcony and rear balcony and rear stairs leading down to the parking lot. Downstairs is another common area that can be reached from a beautiful wood staircase that is lit by an original stained glass window.
We spent most of the afternoon by the shore of the lake in comfy chairs enjoying the breeze just watching the boats. Later we would return to watch the fireworks that were not that far away. The town square is walking distance (we’re in our 60’s but active) so we did walk there for supper and back.
The next morning we had a wonderful pastries, fresh fruit and juice for breakfast.
Overall, this was a wonderful stay and we highly recommend it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Historic home right on lake Granbury. Tina and Tony do a great job in managing this property and providing a welcoming and comfortable stay. Check in was a breeze (we communicated through text) and she explained everything in a clear and concise manner. In the morning she had breakfast prepared and delivered to our room. Was delicious! Our room was clean and cozy and we slept well. Will definitely stay again!
- Jana (8/5): - Hubby and I enjoyed our stay at Captain's House on the Lake. The house is absolutely beautiful, and Tina was quick to respond to our questions and booking. The location is excellent for walking to the square or enjoying a glass of wine on the lake. There are several places to sit outside and enjoy watching the boats on the lake. I appreciated the coffee station set up in the room, and the Continental breakfast was OK. We do prefer a gourmet breakfast as most of the b & b's usually include. It might be a nice touch to have some sweets (cookies, etc) to enjoy upon arrival. too. But overall, we had a nice stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was our first time at a Bed and breakfast inn and we couldn’t have been more pleased. It was in a beautiful location in a beautiful house. The breakfast was very fresh and tasty too!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staying in this historic home is a welcome change from regular hotels. We were greeted by owners Tina and Tony, and stayed in a large suite on the second floor with great views of the lake and territory beyond. The bed was comfortable and we had our own private bathroom as well. Town is a short 3 blocks away and offers a variety of shopping and dining alternatives (many close at 6pm, just FYI). A light breakfast was brought to us each day and plenty of coffee was available too.
It is worth noting that the only way up to the 2nd floor is via a set of very steep stairs, which may not be suitable for all persons. Additionally, there is no lake access to visitors at the property itself.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful property on the lake. Felt very private yet within walking distance of the Square.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved how close it was to the square in downtown and siting outside with the river view. Everything was great..
- Melissa H. (10/5): Best location and views! - Such a quaint and cozy place full of period furnishings and art. The location on Lake Granbury is amazing and the elevated suite had views on all sides. The breakfast was modest and so tasty, just perfect for us. We will return. Also enjoyed visiting with the owners son Caleb and our host Cathy. They made us feel so welcome and at home!
