Francis (8/5): A beautiful location with a unique experience in a comfy tent. I would do it again. - Beautiful location and views. Staff is very nice. Reservation was mixed up and had to move to another room after first day. Loud, late night music from Brooklyn or NJ was unexpected. Restaurant was good, not great. Spouse waited for coffee to be made for him but it was taken by other guests and staff didn’t say anything.

Laura (8/5): Magical getaway with a couple drawbacks you should be prepared for - Gorgeous place to stay with a city kid it’s a real Magical escape some of the staff were truly amazing you are completely dependent on staff in this situation as you are glamping so it’s kinda important but the attitudes were very inconsistent. While I felt genuinely loved and embraced by a couple of the staff the rest I felt like I was an outsider and they couldn’t get rid of me fast enough. That said I found the staff that were cool and kind and caring and interacted most with them. Thank you Daiya and lucky… and the GM lady (sorry I forgot the rest of her name, but the female staff generally was way nicer than the male Staff) S’mores are amazing and there’s a comraderie with fellow guests around the campfire, kids play with each other. It’s very special. The sorrounding walking area is magical and for city kids it’s a very unique special experience that, even tho not completely perfect, is entirely worth it in my opinion While Some staff were really kind and special and lovely, others were very rude and dismissive and I felt the vibe like I was being low key hated on by them, and one staff member just seemed extremely flustered And overworked and I felt bad for her. Also it’s true about the party boats it’s an insane rave on the water around 4am and it’s thumping so loud the earplugs are useless. Next time I’m brining my anti sore headphones. I don’t fault the property for this there’s nothing they can do but yes they should disclose this issue The restaurant used to be amazing and now it’s pretty good but not the same. The breakfast was kinda sad considering the price point you expect more the chef seemed completely uninterested in cooking and I had to ask him multiple times to make more hard boiled eggs and coffee. They should have more staff and better options with the breakfast cuz you are pretty much stuck there with that as the only option and it’s just not really up to the luxury standard they put out
Zachary (7/5): Pleasant with magical views and good food! - The food here was absolutely spectacular! Expensive, but worth the cost. The facilities were cleanly, and the staff were friendly and made our engagement trip very special! The ferry ride was quite nice and the views were positively magical. Nothing else like it in the city! The staff were a bit lost/clueless when we first got there. This absolutely is a retreat, so be aware of that when booking. No WiFi, a truly unplugged experience.
Damian Ho (6/5): New management, teething issues - Free tickets for the Governor's Island ferry, and buggy transport to and from the ferry terminal and the resort. Slippers were provided upon request. The interior of the tent was sufficiently heated. Dinner service at the on-site restaurant was fast and tasty. Nice view of landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty, and it was fun cycling around Governer's island. Staff members were friendly and helpful. Hot water in the shower was adequate. Apparently, new management took over the property from Hyatt less than a month ago, and this stay was a logistical mess. Although I initially booked for Apr 26 - Apr 27, I was informed by phone on Apr 20 that the opening was delayed and that my stay would be cancelled. I was given the chance to rebook for the same price for May 2 - May 3, which was the date I eventually stayed. However, despite promising to email me my new reservation details, I never received any. I eventually obtained confirmation of my new reservation through Booking.com's messaging system, only 2 days before the stay, and was able to confirm the reservation by calling in. This led to lots of uncertainty in planning, and I was fortunate to have flexible plans. While the on-site staff was accommodating, and I empathize with the situation, it seems that they are understaffed, and I can not recommend staying here until the logistics have been ironed out. As for the stay itself, the weather was rather chilly, and we were cold during breakfast and dinner (although the dinner staff kindly provided us with blankets upon request). The private bathroom isn't entirely connected to the main tent, so the cold air seeps in. The remote control for the ceiling light also turned off one of the bedside lamps (and its charging ports), which was unfortunate. "Continental breakfast" was rather disappointing, with no one manning the kitchen -- it consisted of some cold chocolate croissants and Greek yogurt. Wind sounds were rather loud at night, with various other sounds such as fireworks and boat music, although earplugs were provided.
Melinda (8/5): Comfortable and beautiful. Would have loved a higher end concierge experience. - The vibe and concept was great. Having golf cart concierge was amazing. The Peak Lodge food was delicious. I would recommend and would consider coming again. The team was so nice, but there was a lot of misinformation. One staff member said we had to get the water ourselves, next staff member packed our ice box with water. We were told coffee was available all day, and then it wasn't. We came to dinner 5 minutes late after waiting for a very late golf cart pick up at the spa, and they refused to give us dinner, even though it's the only spot on the island to eat dinner. There was no compassion; we even asked for bread, and they made it seem like we were so wrong for even asking. The bartender continued the same vibe, unfortunately. It would be nice if there were some alternatives and clear supportive communication around it all. Made a great trip, but feel not so great on our last night. We saw the next day that the concierge had a fridge with oatmeal, and no one even mentioned that. Very unfortunate at the level of cost this trip is, it should be top-notch concierge communication. Also, it would have been nice to know ahead of time that loud party boats keep you up until 2 AM in the morning, which would have made different choices in booking if that information had been shared.

I liked the comfort of the bed and the quality of products in the room. It was the end of the season and the place was serene. The happy hour bar with good selection of wine and food added charm to the experience. - it was impossible to switch from the bath tub to the shower. - the AC didn’t react to the remote - no slippers in the room - bath tub was dirty With everything said it was low cost value performance even for being unique place in NYC

In der Visacard-Abrechnung war der Bezug zum Retreat nicht zu erkennen, so dass wir eingangs an einen Kartenbetrug glaubten. Es hat dann noch ein länger währenden Nachrichtenaustausch über die Booking.com Plattform gegeben, wobei mehrfach behauptet wurde, dass die Nebenkostenabrechnung per E-Mail an mich verschickt worden sei. Nicht schön und nur formal kundenorientiert
Parvizi (6/5): Always love the location and the tents - need to communicate better w your guests - This is one of my favorite places in NYC - I find the whole experience magical, the view, the tents, governors island etc etc I booked on a Friday specifically to avoid the construction noise I experienced when I stayed the month before but construction started even earlier on that Saturday morning and the entire hotel was woken up at 6:30am but the loudest possible banging - it lasted well over 90 min. And then I went to take a shower and there was no hot water, bc of course the entire camp went to the showers at the same time bc we were woken up at the same time. It was a miserable morning.

Elizabeth (6/5): Lovely, but overpriced and wouldn’t come again. - The location is breathtaking. It’s such a special part of NYC that many folks are unaware of. The novelty of camping/glamping in New York Harbor is really special. The bonfire at night was so lovely and the s’mores were a delight. This place is incredibly expensive for what it is. The basecamp cabin was $575, and it was comfy, but fine. The tents cost us $375, and the heat didn’t work in them and the sound of the boats and helicopters led to a pretty sleepless night, event though they provide earplugs. In general, it was a lovely, but wayyyyyyyyy overpriced. You can enjoy the magic of this place without sleeping there, which is what I would do next time. I would come and visit for the day and grab a drink at the bar, but the cost was outrageous given how uncomfortable the accommodation was.

D (10/5): - Kaliek, Felix, Ruda go above and beyond. The Three Peaks Lodge restaurant bar and staff kept drinks flowing and Dinner menu is perfect. This a great retreat from real life!! 5minutes on the Ferry! We will be back next season!
NORIKO (9/5): 流れゆく時間 - マンハッタンからすぐの場所にゆったりした時間を過ごせる事があることを聞いて今回は、ニューヨーク旅行に組み込みました。大正解です。マンハッタンと自由の女神が見えるこの場所、ベッドの中からも見渡せます。夕焼けを見ながらディナー！とても贅沢な時間を過ごせました。お気に入りの場所となりました。ルームサービスを現在されていなかったので不便さをかんじました。

Eugene (10/5): Absolutely loved it! - I liked that I felt alone, even though there were other guest staying at the property I didn’t see too many of them. There wasn’t all the sounds of the city even though the city is just a ferry ride away. Very nice. Had fun. The only thing I will say I did not like was the construction going on right next door. It’s 7:30 as I write this, the construction is going on. So yes right now there’s a lot of similar sounds to that of actually being in the city.

John (10/5): - It's a great location with probably the best views on NY Harbor. When it got a bit breezy during the night the noise kept us up. Not sure if you can do anything about it. We loved the fire pit. Breakfast was quite nice, although dinner at 3 Peaks was a bit disappointing. Al the staff were great.

Pictures are misleading. Better to have cabins which were very good and nice and comfortable. ACs were not cool enough for the hot weather in the tents.

Tanja (6/5): abseits von NewYork und doch mittendrin - nur lärmempfindlich sollte man nicht sein - Die Anlage ist wunderschön mit direktem Blick auf die Freiheitsstatue und Manhattan. Abends ein absolutes Highlight! Zimmer sind sehr stilvoll eingerichtet mit allem was man braucht inkl. Klimaanlage bzw. auch Heizung. Wir hatten am ersten Abend noch das Glück, da Schönwetter - leider hat uns am nächsten Tag ein Ausläufer des Hurrikans Erin gestreift - die Nacht war im Zelt somit unglaublich laut, wir dachten echt, uns fliegt das Zelt jederzeit um die Ohren - wir haben quasi kein Auge zu gemacht. Man sollte erwähnen, dass man die vorbei fahrenden Fähren früh morgens auch gut hört (durch ihr Signal) und auch tagsüber ist Fluglärm der normalen Flieger wie auch der Ausflugs-Helis gut zu hören. Wir haben am ersten Abend im Camp gegessen, Essen war sehr gut - Personal sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. WLAN im gesamten Camp unterirdisch bzw. nicht vorhanden - wenn man sich einloggt, fliegt man gefühlt alle 10 Sekunden raus... Wer Probleme mit 'Geräuschen' jeglicher Art hat, sollte es sich eventuell überlegen. Bei Schönwetter ist diese Glamping-Anlage mit Sicherheit ein Traum - wir hatten leider Pech mit dem Wetter und man muss jedes Mal 10 Minuten Fußmarsch zur Fähre einrechnen, die aber alle 1/2 Stunde fährt - die für Gäste des Camps allerdings umsonst ist - bei der Hinfahrt einfach Buchungsbestätigung zeigen.
Jenny (10/5): Perfect quick getaway! - First time staying here and absolutely loved it! Rented bikes during the day, and enjoyed amazing views, dinner, drinks, bonfire, and s’mores in the evening. Will come again with a bigger group!
Maria (10/5): Glamping at Collective Retreats, Governor’s Island - Nice stay for a couple of days! During the summer, the tents are very hot, even with the A/C and ventilation on full blast! Very noisy due to boats, circle line and helicopters tours! They do have earplugs in the tent which was very handy and appreciated.

Lisa (7/5): An interesting way to spend a couple nights off Manhattan, but very expensive for what we got. - The tents were a good size and furnished very well. The beds were very comfy and having A/C when it was 30oc outside was a blessing. The fire pits were great and well attended, having smores around them and talking to the other guests was great. The choice of the drinks at the bar was poor, the breakfast was very disappointing, no hot items available and also no choice of milk. The food in the camp restaurant was very expensive but did taste nice. The staff didnt really have a lot of knowledge about the surrounding areas or transportation.

Katie (8/5): Unique experience and lovely, scenic location in NYC - The location is lovely, with excellent view of the Statue of Liberty and the harbor. It is a unique experience. The breakfast was good and enjoyed the happy hour. The tent was very clean and comfortable. It would be great if the shared bathrooms offered more privacy, such as a door that locked. If possible, maybe add some of these portable/trailer bathrooms that are found elsewhere on Governors Island. While not as charming, those are generally kept clean and the gender neutral bathrooms have full privacy. next time, I might choose a tent that has it’s own bathroom though it is pricey (even at off peak time, with the fees etc)

Grodner (9/5): Superb - We loved the curated interiors, the views, the food, and the innovative cocktails. The staff was lovely and attentive. And bring a special birthday surprise was a nice touch We did not expect to be woken up both nights by low party boats.
Heather (10/5): - I hosted a group of ~a dozen of us for my husband’s birthday. The staff were amazingly welcoming and hospitable. We were picked up from the ferry in golf carts, whisked off to our tents and then enjoyed drinks on the deck - taking in the views of the Statue of Liberty and downtown. We hosted dinner at Three Peaks and everyone raved about the meal. The steak was top notch. We closed the night out around the campfire under the stars. Couldn’t have been better a better time and so worth it.
Lori (8/5): - I’ve never camped at all so this was a great experience! The bathrooms, grounds, room were all clean. I did go on the days where NYC had low humidity so I’m not sure how hot the tents would be on the 100+ days. I love governors island but right now there is a lot of construction all around the retreat. My only recommendation for improvement would be the continental breakfast was super sparse… what they charge for the night we could at least get a banana or some toast. All in all I did have a great time!
Sonja (3/5): Overcharged by $130 - The view was stunning. The island empties out at night and you can just enjoy the views of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. The s'mores were incredible. The portable AC didn't really bring down the ridiculous temperature, but I appreciated the effort. When we arrived, we were shown our glamping tent and I immediately realized it wasn't the tent I'd carefully booked. (Voyager King Waterfront), but rather a Journey King Waterfront. I had chosen the Voyager for two reasons: attached bathroom and view of the Statue of Liberty. I walked back up to reception to discuss with the check in clerk on duty. She said there was some error between booking.com and Collective Retreats when the transfer of the reservation had been made and that she could clearly see what I'd booked versus what they'd checked me in to. The Journey tent had a gorgeous view of the Statue of Liberty but was quite a distance from the detached, shared bathroom in the back of the property. Being very pleasant, she showed me an Expedition tent as my only other option (all the Voyagers were already occupied, according to her). This tent had an attached bathroom but was in the back of the pack for view, with only a partial view of Manhattan (and none of the Statue of Liberty) through the front flap area. She considered the Expedition an upgrade, but I considered it a downgrade. She said she didn't have the ability to offer any refunds, only to offer me this one "upgraded" tent at no extra charge. So, the first thing I didn't like was overpaying for a tent by $130 (the difference in price between what I booked and what I received).The second thing I didn't like was the NOISE. I'd read about the party boats, but this wasn't the problem. The problem was that I awoke to a line up of large dump trucks, their engines, their back up noises and the shouts of workers at 6:55 a.m. Although I know that what is going on in the neighboring lot is beyond the control of Collective Retreats, this obviously further diminished the value of the tent we were in. The more expensive tents (like I'd booked) were on the other side of the property and would have had a quieter morning experience.

Arrived on last ferry at 9, no indication that there was zero food on the island after 9, and zero food options at hotel, also. Rose (4/5): Disappointing - The restaurant food is very good but super expensive. The area is quiet and not over crowded to relax. The blankets were not folded neatly and lots of dusk on the floor. The heater doesn’t work effectively due to the cracks in the floor. The bed heater can’t stay turn on so the night is very chilly. The bed is very too soft and sinks your body in which gives you a bad backache in the morning. The blanket is not warm enough even though they provided extra blankets which are really use for sitting outside. People blast music until 2am so it’s hard to fall asleep even with the ear plugs on.

Alain (10/5): - We just stayed at the gorgeous Glamping property of collective retreats on Governors Island last week. Our stay, and experience overall was outstanding. The setting is unbeatable; with tents in the foreground and lady Liberty and the south of Manhattan for a backdrop! It’s breathtaking both day and night. We opted for a journey tent but we would upgrade to a tent with our own private bathroom next time. The facilities were spotless though! The little extras like breakfast delivery, s’mores and campfires at night, glamorous details in the room…all left us wanting to come back again. We were so impressed by the level of service the staff provided. It’s clear that Evan runs a tight ship when every single staff member you engage with is helpful professional and absolutely lovely. Namira checked us in on arrival and even brought breakfast to our tent the next morning! We hope to be back again this season before they close in November. If you are reading this, you must try this wonderful experience for yourself.

Kourtney (10/5): Relaxing and accesable getaway with an amazing sunset + view! - Loved it, a perfect (and quick) escape from the city! My husband and I stayed for a night for my birthday, and it was everything I wanted - a relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of the city with a beautiful view, an incredible sunset, and amazing food and drinks! The staff was super friendly, and getting around the island was easy. I only wished we arrived earlier in the day to be able to explore a little more of what the island and the hotel property had to offer.

Melissa (9/5): Superb - Everything was beautiful and clean. We really enjoyed our stay. I know there are mixed reviews on the restaurant, but we really enjoyed it. It’s definitely a fancier type of place, with smaller portions, but everything we had was delicious. After dinner, we saw someone order a cheeseboard that looks beautiful and delicious, so we ordered one to go. It arrived in the same beautiful presentation, not to go boxes and we so enjoyed that because it added to our romantic getaway. I’m all about experiences and details. My only critique is the ‘nothing special’ lunch bag that the breakfast arrived in. I wish there was a way for them to pack it to resemble the picture online
Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable Stay - I stayed in the Outlook Villa for my solo trip. Overall it was nice and comfortable. Service was very good and the villa was beautiful. I had a few issues but it didn’t impact my vacation time. Twice I had people enter the villa without checking. I know it’s a relaxed atmosphere but it did freak me out that despite having the privacy button on, people still entered. The wifi is not strong in the actual villa. It kept dropping and I ended up hot spotting to my personal phone.

Fabíola (4/5): Disappointed and full of issues - The view of Manhattan is beautiful and it is easy to access We had a very disappointed stay. We were celebrating a very special date and booked the most expensive and comfortable unit in the hotel. When we got there, the staff showed us around and “looked like” everything was working in the cabine. We went out for dinner and when came back the unit was freezing we tried to adjust the heater and noticed it was not working at all. Called the staff and took a while to someone come and try to fix the problem. There was no one who knew how to fix a heater. They suggested to bring 2 portable heaters, and after some time we noticed the room was still freezing and the portable heaters were not working. It was almost midnight and we still couldn’t enjoy our time, it was very stressful and we had to move to another unit much inferior than the one we booked. The new unit we moved to was not very clean and in the morning, the coffee machine was not working. If they want to charge over $1.2k for a night, they need to guarantee everything is working well and also have a quick backup plan for this kind of situation. We did a formal complaint in the following day and got partial reimbursement. The manager who helped us was very nice, but again the whole experience was disappointed. And our special celebration was not what we were expecting.

Suzanne (9/5): It was magical ✨️ - This is a beautiful outdoor glamping retreat overlooking NY Harbor, The Statue of Liberty and The NYC skyline. We went in late October and it was so cozy, comfy and relaxing. You can relax at the retreat or walk around Governors Island, take in the sights and engage in the various activities. The bar is open all day but the restaurant is only open for breakfast, lunch and dinner . There are coolers or refrigerators in your lodgings...so pack your own snacks and beverages. Sit on your deck, enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sunset over the harbor...unforgettable! I would have appreciated if the kitchen was open extended hours for snacks. It's a car free Island so there are no stores and only one other restaurant. Everything has to be brought over on the ferry so pack carefully. They do pick up you up on a golf cart so don't worry about the walk.

The tent was gorgeous & the place felt very safe. We didn’t eat dinner but the views were incredible. Air traffic was loud but it’s NYC, nothing unexpected. Breakfast food was delicious. Would definitely stay again & will recommend to friends.
