• Renate (8/5): A quiet & relaxing oasis in central Getsemani - A quiet oasis in the middle of Getsemani. Our ground-floor room was large and surprisingly very quiet, given the central location. Beds were comfy, with high,-quality sheets. Staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was good. The shower was only luke warm. Staff needs to do a better job of keeping the walls of the upper-deck jacuzzi clean - there were many bird droppings throughout our 4-day stay.
• Rob (10/5): A Very Pleasant Stay - Wonderful location in Getsemani, in the midst of all the action but didn't feel that way once inside the door of the hotel. Staff that go the extra mile to ensure the stay os enjoyable. Pleasant rooftop amenities with views in all directions. Not a thing.

O hotel é bem confortável, silencioso, funcionários super atenciosos. O hotel possui um jardim de inverno, muito bonito quando está sol, pegamos um dia de chuva aí o hall do café da manhã molha tudo. Nada demais mas daria para fazer um controle de não cair chuva no hall.

A large room with a huge shower room and a large bathroom. The lighting was incredible. Adjusting shower temperature a little challenging, but you’ll figure it out. Secure. Service excellent. It is indeed a small boutique hotel. Highly recommended.

• benjamin (10/5): Great location and quiet room - I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Monaguillo de Getsemaní. The location is perfect, right in the center of Getsemaní and close to everything. The staff was very friendly and helpful at all times. My room was on the ground floor and was clean, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet — definitely quieter than staying inside the Walled City. I loved the rain shower, and breakfast was good. The rooftop area was a nice place to relax. I would definitely stay here again
• George (7/5): - A great location and comfy bed. Breakfast on the terrace was lovely, the breakfast team were super friendly and there was a good choice and more than enough food. The day time reception team were very friendly and welcoming. Appreciate it was over NY which may have impacted this to a degree but there were several disappointing elements to our stay - to evening reception team member was not particularly welcoming or friendly - so things felt unwelcoming first off.. (such a contrast to the day time) - the place next door was playing loud music constantly like until 6am. And the door to the rooms are out in the open with nothing to shield you from the noise. Might have been further impacted by New Year. The room could do with a large thick blackout curtain as a minimum to help with noise but also light. - the pool wasn't cleaned very regularly and there were often a flock of very large birds resting by the side and swimming in the pool. Not sure how you stop that, but they left feathers etc in there. Didn't feel very clean.

The bed was comfortable, although my room was a bit too snug even for one person. The front door of the hotel must be opened by a staff member at all times, which is something to keep in mind. The hotel also does not allow guests.

It's perfectly located in the heart of the Getsemani neighborhood, with tons of restaurants, shops, and nightlife within a short walking distance. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly. The hotel was very clean and the food was good. Checking in and out was smooth. The hotel has free Wi-Fi, a swimming pool and jacuzzi on the rooftop. Basically it looks like the pictures on their website. I would highly recommend this hotel and I'll be returning for my next trip to Colombia.

Room was ridiculously small and without any ventilation. The small pool was invaded by turkey vultures so that was unappetizing. The hot tub was not really hot.

Juan Carlos, in particular, went above and beyond to make my stay memorable. And let's not forget the breakfast – it was simply delicious and such a great way to start each day. It was within short distance to all the main attractions, super close to everything. I highly recommend Hotel Monaguillo de Getsemani for anyone visiting Cartagena!

I’m glad I chose this hotel for a week-long trip and would definitely recommend it. Pros: Strong A/C, accurate photos, central location, generous breakfast, great water pressure and hot water, comfy bed, and a peaceful, uncrowded vibe with only about 8 rooms. Cons: Some worn towels, a small pool with no shade, and occasional street noise (minimal in our room).

Love the outdoor space and pool/jacuzzi. There is some noise at night (from Havana down the street) so I recommend ear plugs for sleeping in this neighborhood in general. Nothing terrible, just an fyi. We will be recommending this hotel to friends and family! And we will be back :)

You will be near to everything you want to see: the plazas, murals, different restaurants and bars. Breakfast is included: I had coffee and juice, fruit, and then eggs one day and pancakes the next.

• Tom (9/5): Helpful and friendly staff, good location, good amenities - Super staff! All of them - the receptionists, the cook, the cleaners, and the other helpers. They were helpful and efficient handling numerous of our requests, and always cheerful. The hotel is close to the centre of the action in Getsemani. I booked one of the smaller rooms. The room was just the right size for us. Tips: 1) the English of the staff was from excellent to quite good, but occasionally, knowing at least basic Spanish or using a translator app or phrasebook can help. 2) If a mini fridge is important to you, check if the room you want has one. We didn't need one, and our room didn't have one. Only one quibble: it had one night table, I asked for a second (which I insist there was room for), but they said it wasn't possible. (The only time we didn't get what we asked for.)

P.S the standard room was small , so if you prefer a roomy space, book the - I liked that it was in the heart of Getsemaní , as a solo traveler , that was a plus for me . Location was convenient . Most restaurants and bars I wanted to visit were in very close proximity to the property. 24 hours front desk was a plus . The workers made my stay a good one. They were helpful, considerate and friendly /sociable . I actually enjoyed breakfast every morning even tho it was the same options . Everything was delicious . The rooftop bar was closed every night. There were nights I just wanted to be at the pool but no one was ever upstairs . I made a reservation on bookings in advance , however I found a cheaper cost at the same property days before getting there , that changed was not noticed and I was charged the cost of the first reservation . I didn’t like that , these details need to be updated and checked for a smooth check in process . Hector was patient and kind and I appreciated that . My sheets were not clean , however they were changed after I made it known. New towels and rags , are needed and I suggest a kettle with tea products in the room seeing the rooftop bar is closed at nights . vanity lights added to the bathroom mirror would be a nice touch to this small boutique hotel .

• Verified traveler (10/5): - Overall a great stay in an Excellent Location! The room was large, beautiful and comfortable. Loved the shower, the bathrobes, slippers, and Terrace. Only thing that needs improvement is the breakfast, as it was very basic and bare minimum. Wifi was great as well.

• Jacob (6/5): - It’s in a good location, but there was no hot water, they charged me extra when bringing a guest in for even a short time which they could not explicitly show me in their policy despite no such policy being advertised online or at any point during booking.
• Imelda (10/5): - The hotel is beautiful, clean and beds are comfortable. The staffs are very respectful. Breakfast is good. The place is centrally located and walking distance to everything. My only problem is their generator malfunctioned during the power outages on our last day. We don’t have water and power for a while so we have to go to another hotel to use their facility. Monthly generator maintenance should be done to avoid this inconvenience in the future.
• Katarina (4/5): Disappointing - Location was in city center which is what we expected. It felt safe. We had accidentally booked 2 double rooms for only 2 people and we were traveling with a party of 4. When checking in, they made us pay an extra fee for these 2 extra people which ended up doubling the price of the stay. We didn't speak Spanish so we couldn't negotiate with them and they were quite rude to us. As soon as we paid, the staff became much nicer and spoke way better English. Our rooms were extremely small, had no nightstands and no lamps next to the bed (contrary to what is shown in the pictures on the website). We did not have hot water in our shower. We wanted to go into the small pool around 6:30 when it was dark (pool hours are until 8pm), and we asked them to turn the pool lights on. The staff was unable to get the lights working, even after calling 3-4 co-workers. We stayed there for 3 more days and asked again, and still they were unable to turn the lights on. The jacuzzi was also cold and not clean. If you say you offer these amenities, please actually offer them. I would have rather paid more for these amenities that actually worked. Now I just feel ripped off.

• Nicole (2/5): - Would not recommend this property. Booked this hotel for 1 night stay because it was very late and I wanted somewhere to stay so I can figure out the remainder of my trip. I arrived and it wasn’t until I spoke with the man (who didn’t even want to come to the door and assist me) only to find out that the booking was for tomorrow. I asked if there was anyway it can be applied for tonight’s stay instead & if they could accommodate me, and he said no. That evening I contacted Expedia for a refund and they said they would reach out to the hotel to get it situated. I also wrote the hotel on Expedia to which they told me no. Please be aware that this hotel is also in an area that looks VERY SKETCHY at night. I didn’t even want to stay outside to figure out another available hotel, I ended up going back to the airport because of how scary the outside of the hotel looked. There were people just watching me standing outside looking which made me feel like a target. Would not recommend this hotel at all.
• Gavin (10/5): Cute boutique hotel - I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. I arrived about an hour before check-in, and went across the street to grab a bite to eat. Charming facility, and very friendly and helpful service. Although the rooms were on the smaller side, they were nonetheless well-maintained. A highlight of the day was the breakfast served Near the rooftop pool. Always delicious and always served with a smile. I would come back again.

• Richard (3/5): Really unpleasant customer service experience, hot water issues, and windows don't close - Large room, darkened at night, rooftop breakfast was nice Staff gave us a really hard time at the outset for not having booked for two people and asked us to cancel, which was wild, I've never seen before, and really was a terrible experience. It started the stay off terribly. There wasn't hot water - we had to ask twice for them to turn it on for us to be able to shower. The room window doesn't close, which lets in a lot of mosquitoes.
• Verified traveler (10/5): Couple’s Oasis - Beautiful little boutique hotel! Very quiet and private despite the busy neighborhood just outside. It was the perfect location for being within walking distance of the walled city and nightlife.
• Andrea (3/5): Painful check in and check out. - Clean We had a terrible experience with the check in and check out since the hotel confirmed that did not received the payment on their account but the money was out of our account twice, if you want to stay there make sure they don’t debit from your account using booking information because it might happen again, we had to paid again before check out and until now the 2 transactions haven’t not been refunded. Staff was not well prepared to manage the situation or look for solutions. It almost ruined our trip and budget.

Breakfas - Location The room I booked even though it was only for two people, it was very small. You cannot fit or open a luggage unless you put it on top of the bed. Very limited space. You can’t move around comfortably.
