(Need to communicate with Japanese) It was quite troublesome to book a taxi to get there as well as get back to the public transportation area. Better bring your own car, or book a taxi in advance. (Need cash to pay)

• EGOSHI (8/5): またいきたい! - 温泉がなりより最高でした。 毎日入りたい程です。 家族や友人にもオススメしましたし、 また行きたいと思いました。 一番広い部屋かな？を取ったので とても楽しく過ごせました。 ゆったり過ごすのにぴったりだったので、 1泊はあっという間すぎて 2、3泊したかったです。 良くなかったと思うところは別になかったけど、 強いていうなら、スタッフさんと絡みが電話以外無かったので、 最後にC/O後タクシー呼んで頂き、 フロント前でお待ちくださいと言われたけどフロントに誰も居なかったから、（笑） 入っていいか分からず結局外で待ってました。 私も以前ホテルフロントスタッフだったのですが、同じフロントスタッフならフロントに立ってて欲しいかもです（笑）

• Pavel (9/5): Great stay with a private onsen. - Very spacious rooms. Both the houses and the area look better than on photos! The rooms are clean and very comfortable. Private hot spring was excellent. The location is a bit far from the town. But taxi is very affordable and stuff can help with calling. Also private hot spring bath got colder over the days, even though the source temperature was 96C. Maybe we should have mixed it better.

Entirely virtual check in and out. Yukatas were provided. Slippers too. Many towels. Allowed me abit more time when checking out instead of hounding and chasing right at 10am. Free parking. No food . Nothing nearby either: must drive.

• Terence (9/5): - Nous avions choisi la chambre numéro 10. Celle-ci était un ryokan très spacieux avec un bain privatif. Le rapport qualité-prix est pour moi très bien, nous avions une très belle vu sur le mont Yufu. Des bains collectifs sont aussi disponibles 😊 Cet hotel mériterait beaucoup plus de visibilité ! Je recommande fortement !
• David (8/5): Fantástico onsen privado. - El onsen privado genial. Zona de aguas termales naturales. El Ryokan tradicional e ideal para una experiencia japonesa auténtica. Demasiado alejado de la zona comercial de Yufuin. (Casi 30 minutos andando) y la parte de llegada al Ryokan es en subida, si se va con maletas o mochilas pesadas no recomiendo ir andando. Apenas hay medios de transporte que te lleven fácilmente. Recomiendo taxi. El Ryokan está bien, pero se nota que está ya algo viejo y algunos detalles descuidados. Pero el onsen privado lo compensa todo.

A truly peaceful experience with friendly staff in a tranquil setting. Renting a car is a real bonus to unlock the local area, I would recommend this quite strongly as food is not available at the Onsen.

• Sophie (9/5): Older but good accommodation and wonderful onsen - As long as you know what to expect, this is a wonderful base for Yufuin and better value than many of the in-town hotels. As they tell you in advance, it’s quite far up the hill if you’re walking (20+ mins) and it doesn’t provide any food. But you get a lovely clean Japanese-style house with bedroom (ours had Western-style beds), kitchenette and small private outdoor onsen, and best of all is the hotel’s public onsen, limited to hotel guests in the morning and evening, which is pretty magical especially at night. It was all very quiet when we were there and we picked up dinner at the A Coop in town to eat in our accommodation. Hotel provides clean and comfortable clothes to wear on-site. Main buildings looking a tiny bit tired but it has a certain charm. No food/no shuttle.

The owner could provide some proper meals plates because we couldn't find any and have to use the saucer. The private Onsen in the room there is a door behind the Onsen and the tradies could enter without the occupier consent and it's not lock from outside. Anyone could enter. They should check and clear the Onsen spring water taps more often because there was a blockage and we were having a cold Onsen. There wasn't any English instructions on how to operate the Onsen.

• Michael (10/5): Private and Public Baths were fantastic. - Room size was amazing you essentially get your own house. The private hot spring bath in the room is something I would've expected to pay at least twice as much for (and likely would have in a different city). The large public bath is also very nice and worth visiting at least once. The staff was helpful when I had a question about check-in ( I think I only half completed it online when they send you the online form later) and they answered any questions I might have had. The location is a bit out of the way, which makes the ambience of the place awesome, but you're looking at a 30min walk uphill from downtown Yufuin, if you don't take a cab/have a car. If you do have the transport thing taken care of, or you don't mind the walk, the other thing to be aware of is that there are no meals served at the hotel (there are some drink vending machines). The hotel makes you aware of this beforehand, so you can plan to pickup stuff in town (there's a microwave/fridge) or you can dine in Yufuin itself before heading up.
• Maggie (10/5): Lovely family vacation home! - Super value! We stayed at No.6. It was much larger than expected. It had a private onsen, kitchenette, toilet, sitting room, Japanese styled siting room, and a room set up with 2 tatami bed (though easily could of fit 4 tatami bed), plus ample storage room. We did the self check in via the e-form emailed to us before hand. There were clear instructions in the email as well as in the room about the property. We did not mind the absence of check in staff. The contactless check in was perfect. You must absolutely read the instructions because the property is very isolated. You have to prepare your own food/drink ahead of time. The property is very quiet at night. Bring inset repellant! The surrounding area is the deep wilderness. We would definitely stay here again!

The 1% deduction was only because food was not provided at the accomodation but it was insignificant for our family. Will definitely stay again if traveling to Yufu again and I highly recommend it.

• Ana (10/5): Unforgettable onsen experience - I recently stayed at this onsen resort in Yufuin and it was hands down the best onsen experience I've ever had! The rooms were incredibly spacious, equipped with everything we could possibly need, including a microwave and all cooking essentials. The private outdoor onsen was simply spectacular, offering a serene and private escape. It felt like having our own private villa in the heart of nature. Yufuin itself is a charming town, adding to the overall magic of the stay. What's even more surprising is the affordability of this luxurious retreat. Having stayed in much pricier onsen resorts before, this one stands head and shoulders above the rest. I can't wait to return to this little piece of paradise in Japan. Highly recommended! Everything was simply AMAZING!!

The room was large and convenience, We love semi-outdoor private onsen. Most spectacular thing is outdoor onsen(fresh air, Nice weather, clean water, beautiful environment) make us want to spend more time on onsen. Ps. the pictures of the room and private onsen should be reshoot(the real place is way more better than in the pictures)

• Elizabeth (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely amazing onsen. A definite top 5 for me. We got the room with a private one and it was simply so amazing to have that within seconds of your room. Also it felt like the water in the private in room onsens had much more minerals than the large one but the large one is well worth a stay too as it feels so free to be the only one there and gazing upon the mountains as you bathe. Nothing really except take their advice to heart and get a taxi especially if you have luggage. A backpack is fine but luggage with wheels will be a struggle.
