- Mary (10/5): Clean and comfortable - Management was so kind and friendly. The room was clean, everything worked as it should, and the bed was extremely comfortable. I was very pleased.
- Jan (7/5): Provided comfort and rest for us out-of-towners. - Not fancy or upscale--just comfortable, clean and safe. The people who run this motel are lovely and kind. We felt at home. Will likely stay here upon returning to the area. nothing
- James (10/5): - Very nice check in person. Room given provided a good nites sleep. Bed comfy!
- Chad (8/5): Excellent value - This is the 4th or 5th time I have stayed here. It's an old style roadside motor inn. Its an old outdated building, but it's always clean. I paid like $50 a night. The bed and pillows were super comfy. I've paid twice that money at other places for super cheap crappy spring hard mattresses. The owners are really nice people. I accidentally left my tablet behind and they called me about. They are going to send it home in the mail. Bonus....the motel is across the street from The Pancake House restaurant. They have the best apple pancake. There was a foul up upon check in. I think there was a miscommunication between the motel and Booking.com as to if I had pre-paid or not. But they got it straightened out. The bathroom needs some sort of curtain over the frosted glass, simply to keep a yard light out back from shining through the glass. And their new blinds over the front window still let in light around the edges and their parking lot has a lot of security lights.
- Richard (10/5): - Clean and beautiful room. Helpful and friendly staff. Amazing hotel at a low cost. Would go there again.
- Clark (10/5): - This has been my Go to motel when traveling through Liberal, Kansas. This is one of the few motels that is on one level because I hate having a tenant above me! Thank You and I will be seeing you again Soon!!! No Negative Remarks!
- Gene (10/5): - NA
- Russell (10/5): Stay here every time we come through liberal! Price is unbeatable and rooms are so clean with great beds! - Super comfy bed and pillows🤗. Big room with extra chairs to lounge in. No morning snack😢

- Judi (10/5): Family staff was very welcoming. Great place to stop at. Very reasonable price. - Clean, comfortable bed and room. Parking in front of room.
- Kristina (8/5): Very friendly staff. - Great value. Clean comfortable bed . I would stay here again No ice machine
- Clyde (9/5): I stay here a couple times annually and always have a nice comfortable stay . - Familiarity. Nice reliable place. No complaints

- House (9/5): Comfortable with a relaxed feeling - The owner personally checked to ensure my stay was better than ok. He takes customers satisfaction as his number one goal.

- Bethany (10/5): Great price, great hotel! - Great local hotel, clean room, comfy bed, very nice staff. Nothing!
- Anita (10/5): Very clean, comfy nights sleep, and friendly staff. - We had a great stay. The room was super clean. The bed and linens were nearly new, very comfortable, and much appreciated. The hot water was plentiful, the appliances worked well. The service was friendly and welcoming. We have stayed here multiple times and are always happy. The wing-back chair was worn-out. The sink was rusty around the drain.
- Thomas (9/5): - We stay here on the way to Phoenix from Minnesota. It always meets our needs at a good price. We will continue staying here. Nothing
- Summer (7/5): -
- Terri (10/5): - Easy location to reach. Large rooms. Friendly staff
- Lopez (9/5): Satisfied. - Very comfortable Shampoo and conditioner containers were too small.
- Zach (8/5): - We really liked how easy it was to check in, the cleanliness of the unit, and the friendliness of the front desk staff member. The man who issued us our key cards was very kind and hospitable, and made the process very smooth! Nothing we didn't like. For a room at this price range it is very reasonable. Some of the appliances in the room may be old and could use some replacing, but overall they were still functional which is what matters.
- KENNETH (7/5): Clean, affordable but a little funky smelling - The bed was super comfortable and the woman at the front desk was a delight. There were no bugs and the floors and bathroom were clean. We checked in at 9pm and left at 4:30am so we were just there to get out of the car, stretch, and sleep on a bed. The only complaint that i have is there was a smell to the room. It smelled like cat pee. We had a dog with us and she was a little bothered by the smell also.
- Jimmie (8/5): Old motel fixed up and very clean - The room was clean and "fixed up" new bathroom fixtures, new windows, bed was comfortable, very clean. There was a keurig coffeemaker in the office, we didn't see any breakfast items. Innkeeper was very friendly and sweet You need some pretty white noise if you want to sleep through the truck traffic; motel is right on highway 54. The innkeeper didn't seem to know we had a reservation; put us in a king room only 4 doors from the highway, we had requested a double queen as far away from the road as possible. It worked out fine.
- Loretta (8/5): - Comfortable and quiet. Clean rooms, friendly staff
- Rebecca (10/5): - I have stayed here a few times. Everything is clean, comfortable, and the owners are amazing.
- Eric (6/5): Not ready for an 8 rating. - Location across the street from the Pancake House. Aging facilities and a check/in window leaving customers out in the freezing cold of the Kansas Plains. A $20 fee per dog with facilities, including a bare linoleum floor, more in line with a Motel 6.
- Brigitte (8/5): - Good in every aspect!
- Thomas (8/5): - We stay here every time we drive down from Minnesota to Arizona. The owners do a nice job of making the room comfortable, clean and affordable. We'll stay again
- John (1/5): -
- Mary (9/5): -
- M Michelle (9/5): - Clean, comfortable room Would have like coffee maker in room
- Lee (7/5): Good value for one night stay.0 - Good location. Good price. Quiet.(we were in the corner room) Cleaning cover up smell in bathroom. No vent or window in bathroom. Hard water, but good hot water.
Trim moulding between ceiling and wall is loose.
- Jeremy (10/5): Loved the stay and will be back again and again! - I love staying here when I am traveling for work. Quick and easy check in and very comfortable rooms for the crazy reasonable rate! There is a man when I check out who is the most kind and caring individual. Always sends me away with blessings of health and happiness for me and my family. I just can’t say enough great things about the South Wind Inn! Nothing everything was amazing!
- Michael (9/5): -
- Norma (10/5): - Owners are wonderful people. No problems.
- Johnna (6/5): Trip to Arizona - It was a nice price to stay one night on my two day trip. The ac was so noise it was hard to sleep.
- Robert (6/5): -
- Cindy (7/5): For one night it’s ok. No bathroom door, to be fair they did say it want sounds proof and it want at all. Could hear tra - Single floor and animal friendly Bathroom wasn’t separated with a door.
- Marla (10/5): - What a Gem! Loved this property and the staff was the best!! Clean comfortable room. Close to gas and food choices. Was allowed to park my motorcycle under the office awning when a storm with hail hit unexpectedly! Thanks!
- Debra (8/5): - Fine for sleeping
- Carolyn (5/5): - Fairly clean room. Very old facility, no coffee maker in room and no breakfast.
- Elizabeth (2/5): - Not excellent. Not even good shape. Staff great but property in bad shape
- Jeff (2/5): - The maintenance on this property, and my room, was the poorest quality. The flooring was peeling . Paint drips on the floor. Peeling paint on the walls. Among the worst place I have ever stayed.
- Paula (10/5): - This was a great overnight stop with friendly staff.
- Paul (6/5): Comfortable stay in an aging facility. - Didn't eat breakfast, too eager to get back on the road. Staff was friendly and helpful. Parking directly in front of room. Remodeled bath. On the whole a room in great shape for its age. The motel was a little long in the tooth. The door locks had been changed many times and the area around the locks was pretty chewed up as a result. The room was a little short on electrical outlets, but this is to be expected in a hotle as old as this one.
- Charissa (10/5): - Great and easy service! Very kind folks! Comfortable night’s sleep. Nothing fancy but great overnight stop!
- Deborah (6/5): - We loved the comfort of the beds, the price and location 2 yrs ago. But this year going back there was a sub clerk at the front desk who looked over our reservation for 2 queen bed room and first tried to put us in a single bed room and then moved us to 2 bed room but a short elder person like myself could not get on the very high bed without getting a boost from a chair! That was not a problem when we last stayed there 2 and 3 yrs ago.
- Jan (6/5): - Room was clean, but is an older property and in need of some repairs. Coffee pot in the room would have been nice. There was coffee available at the office, but it was not open early in the morning.
- Brian (10/5): - Very friendly and welcoming. Basic accommodations, but nice and great value.
- NATHAN (10/5): Amazing staff, great facilities great price for everything -
- NATHAN (10/5): -

- Laura (8/5): We stayed coming & going to SD, great mid point location - Clean, great cost, close to eateries.
- Laura (8/5): First t8me staying here and happy with ! - Great location near eateries that were tasty. Comfortable stay for a low price.
- Cyndy (10/5): Clean and quiet spot for overnight stay - South Wind was perfect for our needs on our long road trip. It offered a clean, quiet room for an overnight stay. The office staff was welcoming and very kind as well.
- Daniel (9/5): - Very clean. Nice new bed.
- John (10/5): Nice clean motel. - A very nice little motel. Very clean and well maintained property. No breakfast but the Pancake House is across the street.
- Miguel (6/5): -
- Lisa (10/5): Nice place to sleep along the route - The motel is old but the room decor was updated and cute. Most important - it was clean and comfortable!
- Norma (8/5): - Price was good Bed could be a little softer.
- Bailey (9/5): I was pleasantly surprised by this motel! - I can see a lot of people passing this motel up, but it’s truly such a nice stay for the price! Honestly the best value I’ve gotten in an accommodation in a very long time! It’s a bit outdated, BUT my room had new flooring that was nicely installed and a nice updated bath/shower! The bathroom sink/vanity was still fairly outdated, but in perfect working order. Staff upon check in/check out were extremely pleasant and kind! I didn’t like that my room didn’t have a chain lock, but there was an additional deadbolt lock on the door I was able to use.
- Katrina (6/5): - The property staff didn’t seem to know that I had changed my reservation, even though I called once and texted once to confirm before I arrived. In the end, everything worked out and we stayed for the 2 nights we needed. Beds were comfortable though.
- Lisa (10/5): -
- Charley (10/5): - Room was much nicer and larger than I was expecting for the price. The owners are also lovely people
- Christine (9/5): Clean, comfortable hotel with great value. - Nice room. I like that you can park right next to your room. Rooms are clean and updated inside. Love that it is right near the Wizard of Oz attraction. Manager was very kind and welcoming. A little close to the road, but it wasn't really a problem.
- Anne (10/5): - Owners treat you like family! Not a fancy place, but clean and comfortable. The value is unmatched anywhere!
- Anne (10/5): - Outstanding value. Clean and comfortable.
- Shaun (10/5): -
- Serjio (6/5): -
- Julie (8/5): - The air conditioner had a horrible odor, otherwise a good stay in a motel of its vintage.
- Bingham (8/5): I wouldn’t bring my wife and children here. Everything thing seemed to be worn out.good place for a single traveler - Convenient price Old and rundown
- jeffrey (10/5): - Great place to stay
- Jerrod (10/5): - The owners were very accommodating
- Marjene (7/5): Good -
- John (5/5): Passable - Clean sheets Very aged
- Kathy (10/5): - Will definitely stay here again it’s an older motel but very clean, friendly staff, close to restaurants
- Kelly (10/5): - Got in late. Easy check in and quiet. Bed was great. Room was clean!!
- Thomas (9/5): Superb -
- Steve (10/5): Superior stay at incredible price! - The property is incredibly well cared for and meticulously maintained. It looks like it’s a new version of the classic motor inns. By far the best kept and clean motel sub -$500 a night I have ever stayed in. Nothing
- Erwin (8/5): Very good - The room was very nice. Had a nice AC unit and fan. The room was very clean an presentable. The Owner/Manager was very friendly and even drove me to the airport the next day. n/a
- Verena (5/5): Good place to stay with dogs. - Quiet and clean No bathroom door
- Lorraine (8/5): Very good -
- Theresa (8/5): - Super comfortable bed and the staff was really sweet. We just stayed one night driving from Phoenix to Wichita. perfect for what we needed. If you're wanting to watch good TV and have a coffee pot in the room they don't have that, but it didn't bother us.
- Damien (10/5): - Literally the best bed in a hotel ever!
- Wade (8/5): Great value. - Friendly staff. Clean, comfortable room
- Glenn (9/5): Superb - Staff was more than friendly.
- Jean (9/5): I would definitely go back to this property … just not on July 4th. - Comfortable mattress, good air conditioning, and everything very clean. This is not the fault of the property, but Liberal, KS, on the 4th of July has the feel of a war zone. I have never heard so many fireworks - from 5:30 pm to 12:30 am. Not exactly a restful evening after a long day of driving.
- Beachcomberme (9/5): Nice place to lay your head - Very welcoming after a long day's drive. Room was clean and nicely decorated. The beds were comfortable. The owners were friendly and accommodating.
- stephen (6/5): - Price and was located where we needed to stop
- Colette (5/5): It was cheap, and relatively comfortable. - It was reasonably priced, and had good water pressure and hot water. The bed was comfortable. There was a deadbolt, but no chain on the door. So I put a chair under the door handle and didn't leave the room.. Also, in my room there was an ice bucket, but I got no information on the layout of the property, or any services. There were exposed what I guess was a water heater that should have been concealed. Not a sign of quality aesthetics.
- Gordon (10/5): - Price, cleanliness convenience with pet
