Agnese (10/5): Perfetto soggiorno in un’oasi nel deserto - Tutto perfetto! Un caratteristico motel ristrutturato nel deserto, carinissimo e curato nei dettagli. Pulitissimo e accogliente. La proprietaria è stata davvero gentilissima: ci ha persino permesso di usare la loro cucina per cucinare, visto che siamo arrivati tardi e non c’era nulla di aperto nei dintorni. Esperienza super positiva, lo consigliamo assolutamente!

Stars galore at night, sweet pool and event capabilities- outdoor stage + dancefloor, fire pit, tables and chairs and hammocks all with view of lovely mountain desert locale. Old school bus type vehicle turned into ‘quick breakfast’ venue-serve oneself good coffee, Danish, hard boiled eggs, cereal, bagels-simple fare. Loved the flora planted about the hotel grounds. Loved the staff Mr + Mrs …Duarte, I believe was their name. She is a genius guest arrangements and was clever with motel’s simple decor. He is informative, polite, attentive and helpful to guests at The Desert Air. An unexpected plus for some of us: A nicely stocked package-liquor store was right there next store to the motel office. The room had seriously cold A/C w/remote user control, good TV unit w/ALL the apps and channels, bench to stargaze outside door, parking just right there too. Gazebo type picnic gathering area in center of complex contributed to friendly encounters and star talk; the galaxy type. Not that I don’t recognize the simply huge amount of work and time it took to get The Desert Air Motel to sparkle as it does, I DO - but it’s an old infra+structure, and another couple of electric sockets would help, the refrigerator, a small cute retro unit stopped-started-stopped so didn’t really cold up our canned drinks, outside lighting had dodgy operation as well. I’m sure are all on their to-do lists. My husband was perfectly happy, barring the socket vs phone charging problem. I notice even vague imperfections and only list them with positive energy and perceptions what will surely be.

Almira (9/5): Nice place if you drive to the Big Bend - perfect place on the way to Big Bend. Feee breakfast in a school bus. Athena bathroom was quite old and the door was not working properly. But it was ok since we spend just a few hours to sleep.

Joseph (10/5): It is a quiet place, well kept, and we enjoyed it very much. Very close to Big Bend Park entrance. - Loved having breakfast in the Bus. Only bad part was no Ramps and my husband is on a walker. There was good coffee, plenty of fresh food, and a nice picnic area to sit in. the staff was very helpful. We drove out of our way to stay there on our vacation, because we had been once before and liked it so much. Maybe more ramps, but that is easy to work with if you are with someone.
Lida (8/5): Very cool place, although a tiny bit run down - Wonderful staff, they arranged a late check-in for us within minutes of the request. The room was clean and comfy. Convenience store right across the street. Very cool motel vibe and the breakfast bus is a bonus. The bathroom was a bit old. The door was chipped, the shower and faucet spout could do with a change. It would be nice to have a few wall hangers. Not deal breakers in any way but these things improve the overall experience. Maybe a bit on the expensive side?

Jessica was super helpful and nice and helped arrange some flowers for mothers day. We were bummed that we weren't staying longer than 1 night. We had breakfast and dinner at Ferguson motor company and that was amazing too.

Janet (6/5): - I liked that it was a vintage property and they are trying. Because they are vintage the rooms they are very small with no real place to put things. The shower did not drain properly and you ended up with water above your ankles before you were done. There was a cleaning product smell that overwhelmed when we came in. We had the patio and I had to clean the table and chairs before we could use it.

pamela (8/5): - This is an isolated area, so not many hotels. It's right on the main roadway with a gas station across the street, so it could be a little noisey. The room was a bit small but had a retro design and clean. It's a bit pricey, but there's not much else to choose from

Robert (6/5): Okay - There are not many hotels in this area so this was it. The internet was not working so I used my phone's hotspot. The mattress was not real comfortable. Someone tried to get into my vehicle during the night but the alarm scared them off.

Staff were very friendly and efficient. I like the retro feel to the place. We don’t usually stay in motels but would recommend this one if passing through as we were.
Alex (8/5): It was too cold to swim in the most inviting pool, sunbathing however......LOL! - Good choice of cable tv services. The room and grounds were clean and neat and the breakfast was good. We will be staying again if the circumstances arise. I feel the price is very high but since it's the only lodging in town you really have no choice. Good ole capitalist monopoly! Cudos. The room had an overpowering aroma of cheap aftershave but after a couple of hours of airing it out it was fine. The Wifi shut down in the morning around 8:00 am.

Quaint and comfortable with lounging areas, fire pit/grilling area, vintage and very well-maintained rooms, a pool in season, and a reworked school bus as a free Continental breakfast spot. It's amazing and a testament to this community that a town of 664 can have this place and it be so wonderful. Definitely coming back to stay here and check out the canyons too!

Luis (8/5): Very good - Checking in was very easy, the staff were responsive and answered my call even after sundown. The bed was comfortable, the room had ample space for one person, and the amenities were nice. I stayed in the Ocotillo room and really appreciated the terrace space and tub, even though weather conditions were not friendly to being outside. The outdoor lights are solar-powered, but unfortunately it rained and was cloudy all day so I had no light outside at night. Not much you can do to prevent that, but it would be nice to have an electric option.

Tracy (10/5): - Nestled in the heart of Sanderson, TX, the Desert Air Motel offers a delightful blend of classic charm and comfort. This hidden gem on I-90 is a great place to stop on your road trip. Due to weather we had to switch our reservation around and Jessica at the front desk was super accommodating and helpful. We can't recommend this place enough. We also happened upon a great little honky tonk down the road at the open air Ranch House Restaurant, featuring a talented young country musician named Landry Walls. The Desert Air is definitely worth a stop in Sanderson.
Emme (10/5): A true gem in the West Texas desert! - Everything was perfect - the staff went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable, the room was cozy and quiet, and the location on the edge of town was great for privacy. I am not sure if I will ever make it back to Sanderson, but if I do I will no doubt be staying at the Desert Air!
