• Joey (6/5): - I've previously enjoyed my stay at the Ipoh Cititel Express, so I decided to stay at the George Town branch. A little bit disappointed at the condition of my room, you can tell that while the room has indeed been refurbished, it is starting to show signs of wear. The towel railing in the bathroom is falling apart. The wallpaper is peeling. The air-conditioning may need servicing. The parking elevator always has a smell. And the towels also has a peculiar odour, making me question the hotel's cleanliness protocol. I also wouldn't recommend this hotel for light sleepers, as the walls, windows and doors are not at all soundproof. On top of being able to hear all the noise from the street level, I could hear the opposite room's early morning cellphone alarm which unfortunately rang for hours. If you do stay here, please stay as far away from the elevators as possible. As for everything else - reception was fine and courteous if a little clumsy during the check in process. Parking was straightforward and fairly easy to access. Rooms are a little bit tiny, but is adequate for a solo stay. Rooms are also equipped with most basic necessities, including kettle, mini fridge, hair dryer, towels, slippers, mugs, TV. The hotel is right opposite a mall. A bunch of eateries and cafes, 7-11, are all easily accessible by foot. Fairly central location and you can get to most of the famous spots easily. Overall, your mileage may vary. For me, this place is just fine, could have been better.

Rooms are clean, small and relatively comfortable. The price is reasonable for what you get. Maid service every other day. Staff was friendly and helpful.

• Li Chin (2/5): - The sink was clogged. We told the staff, and they said they will send a maintenance staff to look at it but it was never done. We ended up asking to change to a different room on the following day. We came back one day and saw the door was left open and unlock after the room was made. We'll never consider Cititel Express in future.

• ANDREW (8/5): - Front desk staff approachable and helpful. Overall, value for money. I liked the multistorey car park, as it was not on street level. Location was good.
• M S (6/5): Small clean room with a small price - This is a reasonably priced accommodation in a good location. The rooms are tiny, but clean and well maintained. Housekeeping is limited to every other day.
• Thuy (4/5): - Room is very small. Noise can be heard from the hall, street 18 floor below, and loud machine running noise at midnight inside the building. Fool smell from the rack holes right below the bidet spray and all over the bathroom to my bed. Had to close the bathroom door when sleep but still smell it. Seems like the room next door shares the same toilet pipe that the flushing toilet water can be heard running thru the pipe on this side. I had to hurry check out as early as 5AM just to get out of it.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Penang stay in Cititel Express in year 2023 - Overall is perfect, location wise and the front desk staff is helpful and cheerful. Except for the room cleaning is happened only two days once. During my 5 days 4 night stay only tidy up the room once. Another issue is the central air-conditioning, it seems like is over-usage by the hotel guest, it quite stuffy during the mid-night. Lastly is the pillow quite soft and wear and teared, could not support the neck and head in proper position. Lucky housekeeping has the additional pillow to provide. Finally is just a qurious query why some of the vacant room's door is not close completely? Morning, afternoon, evening is still the same status, it make me quite worry and scary feelings. i did inform the front desk, but no action has been taken.

• FARVINNISA (8/5): - Nice hotel, clean and friendly staff. Main problem is parking ticket. Every time it will say faulty and have to go to front desk to get it replaced. Front desk is only open 9am to 9pm. Beyond these hours, have to go to adjacent Wembley Hotel front desk. Room a bit small but beds are comfortable. The washroom exhaust was not working, apparently the hotel was having some issues with it. So it’s a bit uncomfortable to use. Each time after housekeeping, need to ask for third towel as there were three of us and had to call the front desk multiple times and wait about 20 minutes to get one. Otherwise location is great, walking distance to KOMTAR, 1st Avenue and Georgetown overall. Good price- was $40 Canadian per night and nice hotel.
• Lee (6/5): The plus point of this hotel is location. - Total stayed 6 nights, 2 separate booking 4n + 2n 2nd day - got locked out fm my own room 3rd day - rushing out for my mum funeral, safe cant open. Lame reason was too many stuff in the safe (1 laptop, 1 ipad, 2 passports & prayer red pkts) 5th day - returned fm tiring prayer, got locked out fm room again. Reason was I supposed to checkout. I already extended & paid tourism tax on 2nd day of my stay

• Wei Shung (6/5): Bad housekeeping. - Rooms are small with basic amenities, ok for the price paid. Housekeeping quality is doubtful as a bed sheet with obvious stain mark was not replaced, only flipped around. This is unacceptable. Lobby is confusing, as it is shared with Wembly St. Giles, and no clear signs on where to go to lobby. At level 19, there was even two mushrooms that popped out between teh wall and the floor along the corridor.

• James (8/5): Decent stay - I booked this hotel due to its proximity to KOMTAR bus terminal for convenience of my Penang Bridge International Marathon travel. Room was quite small but facilities were good. Check in/out had to be done at The Wembley’s lobby. No free breakfast was included in my package.

There are 2 things I would like to highlight. 1> I found missing of toothbrush set 2> The breakfast in the cafe (Cititell express) some how is not up to the standard, it is not worth the money pay for. 3> Sound proof was not good, I can hear the sound of my neighbour every time they open and close the door. However, these small matters does not stop me from coming back to Cititell Express again.

No front office reception and need to go all the way to the other hotel St Giles to check in – very bad impression After check-in requested some bar soap and paper slippers which it’s normally complimentary for in-house guests. But the housekeeping said guests need to pay RM3 per pair. This is outrageous. Other notifiable bad points of this hotel are stated below, kindly buck up or request Hotel.com to delist or don’t recommend this hotel in the future. - Dirty bed linen - with bloodstains - Dirty towels - Toilet basin clogged - Air con not cold and it cannot be controlled - Room is very tiny – not suitable for overseas guests if they have big luggage - Entrance of this hotel doesn’t look like a hotel. - Boring TV channels - The only good point is the location

• SIOW YONG (8/5): Excellent location for everything! - It always my best choice if I on tight budget for my work trip and event personal trip. It's the twin hotel with The Wembley, St Siles Hotel attached, if you are not hoping for a nice hotel breakfast. Location is superb with local traditional biscuits shop just cross the room. Walking distant to the nearby famous food centre, Lebuh Presgrave or you can walk to Lebuh Chulie or Kimberly Street etc..

• Mohd Fauzi (6/5): They are using Non Halal cutlery for breakfast - Customer service at front counter can be improves, since they are non muslim, so they failed to answer my question about status of the cutlery set using in the Japanese restaurant as they also serve non Halal food after breakfast time. Restaurant need to be 100% Halal if you want to attract Muslim tourist.

• Lalitha (10/5): Great location - Strategic location, walking distance to 1st avenue mall and Komtar. Rooms are clean, just need to pay more attention under the bed(so dusty) and bathroom walls... Can be improved. Check in/out was a breeze. Friendly staff overall. Not advisable if ur gona stay for more than 2 days especially if u hv kids, rooms are small, kids feel restricted. I'll definitely come back if planning for a short get-away.

Even though the room is so small(even for two person) but it is fine as we are here to explore the town so most of the time we’re not in the room. Might as well choose this hotel for next trip to Penang. P/S : They did not provide iron and iron board in the room maybe because there were not space m but they did have ironing area at the corridor which is abit uncomfortable.
